bates has gone because its part of the terms of investment from red bull. I was told this at the academy this morning. also building a new training ground nearer ti elland road

Believable27 Unbelievable110

Nonsense, why would they care who the president is? Huge company like that u think they're worried about sum old man

Agree3 Disagree1

I wish people would shut up about red bull they ain't involved in anything to do with the club yet!

Agree3 Disagree2

Unless they have other plans I can't see the logic in buying another training facility so for that reason i'm out.

Why would we leave Thorpe Arch? its still one of the best facilities in the UK, getting upgraded to the managers specification at great expense and is the place new signings are shown to convince them to join. Its better to look at than Elland Road, the areas better too (sorry Beeston) and a lot of the players live close to it. To move would be crazy unless we can't buy the land at a later date because somethings now changed? If its a financial decision that would make sense but as a location its alright where it is!

Agree2 Disagree1

I know if I were investing in a club and bates was there, i'd want him gone.

Agree7 Disagree0

Bates' presence is bad PR. Clean break etc. Chapel A

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree with the last 2 posts, IF red bull are going to invest and IF I was on the board of red bull I'd want an interfering old man causing only bad pr out of that club ASAP. Doesn't make the rumour true but it certainly makes a lot of sense

Agree2 Disagree2

Nothing to do with red bull, it was on companies house 4 weeks ago, glad he has gone though

Agree0 Disagree1

Only reason to leave TA is if the owner is holding out for to much money. bates left the 5 year 5m deal lapse so now the owners are in control of what should be one our major assets. cheers ken, how he had the odasity to try and be our president will always be beyond most leeds fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was on companies house 4 weeks ago why didn't you post it then? You'd have broke your neck to get your exclusive on here if it was so. LIAR!

Agree1 Disagree0

Re lapse post above, we tried to buy it back a few years ago and the councill bailed on the deal on thr last day I'm sure so of ure lookin for sumone to blame Leeds city council.

Agree0 Disagree0

4 weeks ago bates stood down as chairman, that's what would be on companies house. Not a not exec position. I for one am glad he has left, but await the court case he brings against gfh? If we think we have got rid of him that quick I will be shocked. Hopefully new investment will be made, and as long as gfh stick to there commitment, we should be marching on together.

Look forward to the new leeds, don't expect much 2013 but BMc know what he's doing building a team for 2014

Agree0 Disagree0

According to david Conn in the Guardien he was sacked for trying to get a 3yr private jet contract at the clubs exspense to fly him to games.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was because of a jet contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now we know the reason Bates has gone proves what lies an bs people post on here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liar? I did not know I text my boss a finance director when I found out and he told me! look it up

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates has gone because he tried to make the club pay 500k for his lazy arse to travel the world on private jets. Nothing to do with red bull.

If red bull are to invest I would be very dubias that they will try change what Leeds are, name changes of stadium etc. Plus they're RED and noone likes RED

Agree0 Disagree1

As we don't own our ground or training facilities it would make sense to own them rather than pay rent. If we cannot buy them then it would make great financial sense to buy a new cheaper training ground and eventually a stadium

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates has gone due to a £500k private Jet contract over next 3 years. He's likely to sue GFH.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates did try to get Leeds City Council to buy back Thorpe Arch and they agreed in principle (despite Bates inferring the Delph money would allow us to secure the future of TA). However, the Council refused to purchase as Bates would not reveal who owned the club (it was before club announced he had purchased us in 2011). Why would the council give tax payers money to an organisation that would`nt disclose who the owners were. Shafted by Bates on this one!

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason bates got the boot is because he tried to sly a 500 grand deal for his private jet on the expenses of the club. I'd sack someone too if they did that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster, you were way off. I might suggest you put your thoughts on here as a suggestion rather than a fact. Makes you look a pratt which I suppose is why you don't leave an ID.

Leeds are set to make a surprise signing befor the start of the season. Norris Pugh white and Pearce set to leave, not sure if its loan or to sell. Inside info reliable source. I'm 36 years old and not sad and would not post rubbish

Believable64 Unbelievable53

Ah well, if you're 36, it must be true. And I can tell you're not sad. I know you're whistling to keep your spirits up, but the truth is this - the owners have no money, we can't get rid of the players that Warnock signed and who nearly got us relegated last year, the owners have said "Premiership in two years", which means "not this year", the only good sign from pre-season is a hat-trick by a player who has two good games a season, the manager is saying in scarely-disguised terms that he has been let down by the owners. I will be surprised if we aren't flirting with relegation in a month or two's time.

Agree9 Disagree6

We would not miss any of those players

Agree6 Disagree0

You do seem genuine. I just hope that you are correct.
Steve H.

Agree3 Disagree2

Pearce won't be going anywhere, we only have 2 centre backs!

Agree3 Disagree1

Pearce will not be leaving. leeds buy them then dnt give them a fair chance and that's all pearce needs

Agree0 Disagree0

Buck up you lot. Bloody hell
Bates gone. Great manager. Ok team potential big sponsor and new players to come in next 1-6 months. Good times ahead. don't be so bloody miserable and neg

Agree3 Disagree0

We get good news that bates has done one but some are still negative miserable ****ers YAWN

Good fan there the first reply. Probs knows nowt about Leeds and negative attitude. And every 1 thought we had no money until we bought murphy.

Agree4 Disagree0

We wudent miss eni of these players? Serious? Who we going to play then cus that's out te. am lol frankly I rhink its too late to bring in a whole bunch of players they're nt going to have time to hell together etc. let's face it well b playing pretty much the same team as last season without our top scorer or a decent replacement.

To 1st reply - well said mate!
Exactly what I've been sayin all along!
Additions - a journey man, an unknown
An a league 1 player? Shows the intent
GFH have to take in Quality signings ;- (
I agree we were 5pts of relation las yr &
I don't SEE THINGS IMPROVING EITHER
THIS YR.
until i'm proved wrong i'm intitled
to my opinion. Were cannon fodder!

Agree1 Disagree4

Unless of course, the signing is another centre back?

Agree1 Disagree0

Would not be happy to see white leave good squad player

Agree0 Disagree0

Sick of all the know all moaners on here. So much has changed since this time last year and still they whinge. "No this no that" "Cannon Fodder" and the season hasn't even started! Just get behind Brian and the guys or take a happy pill because no one can predict how this season will pan out. We don't need the doom merchants dragging our season down before it begins.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Unless of course, the signing is another centre back'. If we sold Pearce and brought in another CB we would still only have 2 CBs! We need to bring in a new CB and keep Pearce as cover

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster said he would not post rubbish, but he said 'not sure if its loan or to sell' That does not makes sense whatsoever and is total rubbish. A surprise singing before the start of the season! Wow can you be more vague

Agree0 Disagree0

'Flirting with relegation in a month or 2' pretty sure we can't get relegated in September.

Agree0 Disagree0

After seeing todays 2 nil defeat I’d put the whole team on the tranfer list. Except we’d get nowt for any of them. I’ve seen some rubbish over the past 10 years. A gutless performance. No passion. I’ll give BMD till Christmas then he’s off. No money. No hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

I entered the first reply here. I have followed Leeds since the days of Don Revie. We started last season with no money and no significant signings, but with high hopes for the new manager. We start this season in exactly the same position, except that we have lost two proven goal scorers, and have had a terrible pre-season, the results of which suggest that the team is not good enough, indeed, that it hasn't improved since that undignified scramble to avoid relegation last year. McDermot may be a good manager, and a nice chap, but what do you honestly think he's going to do with players who, it is quite clear, are never going to star in this division and in whom McDermot himself has little faith. As for Bates's departure - good news, but have we gone from the frying pan into the fire? This new lot seem to me like rich boys who have bought a toy that they are not sure how to handle, and which is beginning to bore them.

Prev post : I too commented & made the cannon fodder remark! With kenny in the sticks were in trouble ( past it )
Weve no wingers ( never replaced gradel, snoddy )
& we haven't a guy banging in goals on a regular occurance (proven striker ) Same team as last yr
Only with 3 iffy new signings?
HOW IS THIS A REASON TO BE CHEERFUL & OPTIMISTIC FOR THE NEW SEASON?
Im not looking forward to it & i'm Leeds all my life.
( signal off intent would off been, 2 wingrs a goalie, a CB,
An a proven all out goal scorer to replace Becks (17) he had before been shipped out by COLIN!
TRUTH HURTS, but we is going to be cannon fodder!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the first and last reply (last at least as I type this), in particular the point about 'means next year not this year' which is exactly what I thought when I read SN's statement. A few points here people. Being analytical of the situation and realistic is not necessarily being negative. I spent my money and afternoon going to Walsall last week and cheered the team on, as I will at various home and away games this season. Not negative. But there is no doubt our team as it stands is simply not good enough. To be promoted from the league we are in, without some sort of one in a hundred year fluke, you need to be better, consistently, than the bottom half of the Prem, and the top half of the Champ. As it stands we are not by a long way. On the other hand, the one thing I am not so sure I totally agree with is that GFH are getting bored and don't know what to do etc. They clearly have no serious money and are not going to get us promoted themselves (still better than Bates of course though). However what they 'may' be able to do, is get in an investor who has, or a joint venture with someone else, or a major corporate deal like the Red Bull rumour (of which I have no idea if that's true or not), or even just another minority stake which could do anything from giving another mil to us, up to giving us major funds. They have a damn site better chance of doing this than Bates ever did. But that's where your two years comes from, as it is not going to happen (if it happens at all) in this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could do with two new CBs. A permanent and a loan to provide cover and competition. A couple of our fullbacks can play centre (Warnock, for instance) but shouldn't be relied on, there.
Can't see Pearce leaving unless we're replacing. He's certainly not the worst we've had back there and availability of good or better CBs is not exactly high.
Yet another season of defensive issues seems almost inevitable.
