Varney told BMD he didn't want to play tonight incase he got injured. bag can leave rite now doesn't deserve the shirt, good riddance

Believable67 Unbelievable15

Worst leeds player ever matt smith scored more goals plus scored a hatrick against hull XI behind doors shows he never cared about the club or the fans

Agree4 Disagree3

Refusing to play surely that's a breech of contract?

Agree2 Disagree1

Get off the guys back, At the end of the day he has to do what's best for his career, if he had gotten injured, he wouldn't have got his move, he isn't get much game time so he needs a move, He has been a decent player for us, his effort never in question, hit and miss with ability, good luck to him.

Agree4 Disagree3

I don't think he ever refused, I believe he will have said something along the lines of, i'd rather not play in case I get injured.

Agree1 Disagree0

I actually like varney. always felt he gave 100% which is all you can ask, which diouf and several others tonite certainly didn't give. I bet in months to come you will see him scoring shed loads of goals because who ever gets him, will make him their out and out striker with lots of supply routes. their were 5 players tonite who gave their all for the shirt. one was mr brown 36 years old, who's shirt was wet through. mr diouf's shirt was dry as a bone.

Agree2 Disagree0

Varney may as well pack his bag now! He didn't want to play in case he got injured! There is no way he can play for Leeds Utd again. He had a chance to get a bit of a run in the team but decided he must stay fit so he can leave the Club, More important that he can leave rather than play! Good riddance but his actions are a result of the FIASCO created by the owners with regards to the take over! he'd clearly doesn't believe the FIASCO will be resolved anytime soon or does he and he knows if BM has money he will not get a chance?! Whichever, it shows a fault in Varney's character!

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jan 2014 00:25:18
Are we all taking stupid pills? Many of us wanted to see him gone and now that he has agreed to leave we all get hissy. I don't blame him. Why risk injury when you've agreed a move away? Everybody has been calling for Poleon to start and doing Varney down so just let the guy leave.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jan 2014 02:54:46
Gave 100 percent il tell you a player who gave everything for leeds andrew hughes he admitted himself he didn't deserve to play for leeds and didn't have the ability to play for the such a big club he was a hero not for his ability but varney on the other hand moans by saying I don't want to get injured well if it was andrew hughes stepping out onto the elland road pitch for his last game he would give everything so much he would probley pass out and get carried off the pitch by the fans and 11 of those would destroy that division players at leeds have said they have felt like they have been tapped on the shoulder whilst in the elland road tunnel people have speculated its billy bremners spirt I hope billy kicks varney up his arse on the way out and slams the door behind him!

To the first poster. matt smith worst Leeds player ever?

You may only be young so making such a statement could be forgivable.ask your dad or any Leeds fans about a certain Enoch showunmi he was head and shoulders the worst Leeds player ever! Ha

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2014 08:27:33
I think you'll find roque junior would have something to say about that!

Agree1 Disagree0

I think it was a lack of punctuation there - I think he was calling varney the worst leeds player ever. Clearly not old enough to remember brolin.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jan 2014 09:03:50
varney never refused to play, he just made a statment to manager not to be picked as he didn't want to get injured.
i see where varney is coming from, he gets a few games and then he's back in reserves .
he will also be thinking the only reason he's getting a chance is because smith suspended .
there is the takeover coming up? maybe? meaning he will be even further down pecking order so back in reserves then he would probably end up in league 1 if that happened, so the chance to play for a team of a similar class in the championship would look like a great option and he is right to ask for that move.people don't think of the reasons behind the decisions of players they just think traitor .theres only a few days left for him to make the move so he wouldn't want to go to a medical feeling sore and sluggish and he's not a leeds fan either .

Agree1 Disagree0

Showunmi was never the worst leeds player atall that was paul okon or michael rickets or billy payter. varney was 1 leeds player with half a brain and i'm sorry but I never wanted him to leave, he's not an out and out st and would b awful as that. but he gives everything every game he plays, might not be the best of players but i'd sooner have him than diouf who is meant to be a lot better yet gives us nothing! b 4 moaning bout varney try looking at the others like norris, drury, smith, green, brown, diouf, austin and tonge these are players who wouldn't look out of place in league 2 and trust that's being kind

Agree1 Disagree1

We had a lot of dross in the League One days. Tresor Kandol, anyone?
We had far worse players in the Premier League days. Anyone remember Danny Hay?

Agree1 Disagree0

Dad?

Showumni was only a few years ago kid, try Carlton Palmer.

Agree1 Disagree2

Glad to see that reality of Leeds United's plight has finally sunk in and that everyone has finally stopped linking an endless list of players with our bankrupt, rudderless football club. Common sense prevails at last!

Agree6 Disagree0

Keep hearing you mention worst players ever.
Could Tony Capaldi & Mr Rachubka please step forward & receive their awards.
Oh dear. it would appear Rachubka has dropped his award. and it's gone through his legs

Agree1 Disagree0

Mark aizlewood anybody

Agree0 Disagree3

Let's not forget Jacob Burns

Agree0 Disagree1

Micheal duberry was the worst player I saw in a leeds shirt, just awful.

I heard an interview with Luke Varney on the radio and I can say that I like the guy. he seems genuine and if it means he gets to play then he's making the right choice to move.

Shame it didn't work out for him at Leeds but good luck to him.

Agree2 Disagree0

Varney was the only consistent striker we had at the end of last season, I wish him well.

Also, Jake Burns wasn't that bad. He just brought down Beckham for a free kick he scored, and that was pretty much the end of him.

There's a certain Brazilian called Roque who I think quite honestly deserves that tag.

Agree2 Disagree0

We would have been crazy to play him, if he played and got injured, then we would not be able to get him off our books

Agree1 Disagree1

The lad does right leaving, can't understand why anyone wants to play in front of our moaning fans

Agree1 Disagree0

Duberry is the worst player of all time for grassing up bowyer and woody, that right there is where the downfall of leeds united began that night ruined us

Agree1 Disagree1

Youre all forgetting we still have David Norris and we have just signed a candidate in Cameron Stewart he is totally out of his depth, what was BMD thinking? Panic signing. Oh and then there was sick note Lee Sharpe who conned every club he played for, with injuries. Phoney.

Agree1 Disagree1

Surely the Fat Swede was our worst player

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats the big deal if I was treated the way he has been concidering he's only1 of a few players who actually try on the field then he gets told he can leave I would have done exactly the same, same goes for diouf, don't tell a player he can leave and basically you don't want him then expect him to put 100% bmcd dosnt have a clue

Agree2 Disagree1

Heres another one . Michael Rickets

Agree0 Disagree0

Worst I've ever seen in a Leeds shirt was Habibou last season. Sunday League standard

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree with the original player. It was cowardly of McDermott to try and land Varney in it to save his own back. McDermott is at fault for letting clubs know that Varney is available. Varney is one of our better players, and has been under-used by McDermott. Lots of fans are unhappy with McDermott for letting him go. He is a decent, honest lad, and can hold his head high. GFH to end negotiations with Haigh etc. out of pure spite, seeing him as some kind of traitor. Cellino to fail fit and proper persons test. GFH fail to sell up in time for the loan repayment deadline. LUFC to enter administration once again.

Believable53 Unbelievable43

Tod u so DD its a sack of krapneeds liquidation then people with money not flowers and co

Agree1 Disagree0

GFH would sell players not go into administration, they know they have a marketable brand so don't talk rubbish.
DP

Agree1 Disagree1

Get in Ross McCormack!

Agree2 Disagree0

Do you honestly think a business such as an investment bank would willing decide not to sell to a willing buyer and go into administration, wiping value of their investment and causing their own share value to drop?

Agree1 Disagree1

Hopefully get another to in the summer mot

Agree1 Disagree0

I totally agree with last comment. why would they even be thinking about wiping millions and further investment from their books. its just plain and simple that something has jumped out of those murky waters and has thrown a spanner in the works. david haigh and co are attempting a sales transaction and they simply cannot divulge information to a public audience. its business procedure. why show your hand to the competition. dh has worked tirelessly to bring this club back to the community. his heart is in it for this great club and city.we just have to be ever more patient. I would rather have someone owning this great club with heart and limited funds, rather someone looking to line their pockets, or worse as just a hobby.look at cardiff, portsmouth, sheff wed, birmingham. the list is endless of investors who mock and don't care about 'their pocket money' purchases.we will be back and all in good time.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jan 2014 23:06:28
Leeds won't go into administration stop trying to cause disruption because it ain't working

Agree1 Disagree0

GFH have duty to shareholders to make profit. They will not allow that to happen.

Agree1 Disagree0

The loan repayment deadline referred to is not a Leeds United loan repayment, it relates to other GFH investments. The sale of Leeds is required to enable GFH to meet these payments therefore they will seek a maximum return on the sale which couldn't be achieved through administration.

just been on radio leeds .andrew flowers said his consortium put a revised offer in after certain things came to light that weren't disclosed when the original bid was put in.gfh then turned down the revised offer and held talks with cellino .what a farce

Believable37 Unbelievable2

If they have unearthed Somethimg requiring them to change their bid why didn't haigh know. As md he should know what the club is or isnt. If this takeover fails haigh will be sacked.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's Gfh who will suffer, go bust with a bit of luck

Agree0 Disagree1

Anyone else think KB introduced clauses in the event of promotion to PL. Whatever it is it is hard to believe the current MD only realised after he had gone so far. He surely has no future as an employee of GHF and Sports Capital are surely not taking over now. The mad italian it is then if he can find a KB like method of passing FPP

Agree2 Disagree1

My reading of it is that Haigh and Flowers were fronting a consortium of 5 people as Sports Capital this included Cellino in the background as the main money man. Its clear to me he has failed the fit and proper person test so this consortium are back to square one.

I might be wrong but I don't feel that Cellino was making a bid for us on his own but he was part of the Haigh Flowers group.

Come on everyone sort the job out

My money's on Bates sticking a cog in the works. Maybe his impending court case for wrongful dismissal is being factored in to the dealings. Surely that man cannot last forever.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2014 19:08:03
Phil Hay tweeting ' ' about takeover. claims SC moved the goalposts and excluded Flowers, trying to get into bed with Cellino. one in the eye for say it with 'flowers' eh lads and lasses

a cornish white

Believable24 Unbelievable5

{Ed013's Note - Flowers hasn't been excluded, he is part of Sports Capital with David Haigh and 2 others that have revised their offer to GFH after they found out some things they didn't like. GFH have rejected their reduced offer and turned to the Italian for a deal. This is bad news in my eyes, Leeds do not want this man in charge of the club}

So GFH were trying to hide something which David Haigh and his consortium found out abouy. Probably something to do with purchase from Bates that Bates insisted on or he would not sell to GHFH. We hoped that the sale to GFH may have removed those things which made it unattractive to investors but looks like it may not have done!

Agree3 Disagree0

Hasnt he done the little club he owns a favor by getting them into serie a and trying to better them by trying to build them a new ground .isnt this what we want, someone who has ambitions for his clubs?

Agree3 Disagree0

How on earth can Cellino pass the fit and proper persons test? Twice found guilty of fraud with another case still outstanding.

Not only don't we want him, there's a good chance the FL will turn him down anyway. and where does that leave us?

Why is this so difficult? All we want is someone who cares about the club that has enough money to put us on the right track.

Agree1 Disagree1

Come Red Bull, this your chance to buy Leeds United!

Agree1 Disagree1

OP here

Sorry ed must have misread the tweet, thanks for the clarification

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - No worries}

Can't understand this. How can GFH be hiding something from David Haighs consortium, when David Haighs is a member of GFH and already on the board.JD

Agree1 Disagree0

Dont see how this italian bloke can be any worse than gfh? the gfh who just constantly lie to us non stop! This consortium that david haigh was leading will have pretty much have no money anyway. Leeds have turned into the biggest laughing stock in english football and its heartbraking, i'm sure ken bates could have found someone better to buy us, he's done all this on purpose the horrible old man

Agree0 Disagree2

Just one simple question how can things have come to light when you have the chairman in your consortium who is/was part of GFH and involved in the untangling of Captain Birseye??

No issues with takeover the sale has been announced on the stock market the fit and proper person test happens before the sale is made if someone had failed the sale wouldn't of happend plus I think that its the person what leads the takeover who is the one who gets tested and david haigh has already passed plus david haigh him self said only a few boxes are left to tick and dotted lines to sign

Bobby Zamora in talks for a loan deal.

The club has been sold as mentioned on the stock market everyone has to be approved before the sale is made plus daivd haigh himself said there is just a few boxes to tick and a few dotted lines to sign

Agree0 Disagree2

Looking like another over the hill player on his way to us, Bobby Zamora loan till summer.

Agree1 Disagree1

Can't find anything about sale on London stock exchange web site.

Agree1 Disagree0

Wouldn't be and the London Stock Exchange (LSE). GFH is listed on DFM (Dubai Financial Market). Its duty to report major asset sales which could affect share price (company valuation)has nothing to do with LSE.
As it stands, GFH has announced the pending sale of the club, not that the club has been sold.
Haigh's consortium (given Haigh's position within GFH and his part in the acquisition by GFH) should have been aware of all details prior to due diligence. I do not hold with the assertion that 'things came to light' which led to a revised offer from Haigh/Flowers, as Haigh should have been aware of all terms of sales and assets/liabilities held by LUFC up to this point.
Something doesn't smell at all right about this. Was supportive of GFH but there seems to be a major split with Haigh and the GFH board. Massive conflict of interest unless Haigh resigns both LUFC and GFH posts.

Believable12 Unbelievable36

Didn't we sign him from them for 500K?

Here we go again then.

Cardiff are in an even lower league position than West Ham (bottom place!) If Ross is so keen to join clubs who will be playing in the Championship next season why doesn't he just stay at Leeds?

Agree1 Disagree0

I for one will be sorry to see him go, always done well whenever I've seen him, yes he's no world beater but useful to have in the squad in my opinion.

It's rumoured to be a free transfer (possibly to remove his wages from our budget?) Not sure if true but reinforces how skint we really are if it is true.

Leeds United are eyeing up a loan move for ex Burnley striker Kyle Lafferty
MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable37

It would have to be an emergency loan deal after the transfer window has closed on Friday. Brian Mac has given a very honest pre-match press conference interview and finally confirmed what we have feared for weeks and weeks- that his hands are tied concerning transfers so we can speculate all day long but no new players are coming to our club any time soon. However, I suppose as Leeds United supporters the only thing that keeps us 'sane'? is our ability to dream and FANtasise in spite of our enduring hopelessness. Keep the faith MOT

Agree6 Disagree1

Couldn't remember where he was playing? Currently at Palermo and has scored 7 goals in 21 games. Not bad return and still only 26. Doesn't look likely Palermo would loan him? He is playing regular and scoring. If could get appears would be good addition but looks unlikely.

We know him we'll in Norn Iron. Get his head right and he could be great for us. Only problem, his head is usually full of mad dog sh1 t.
