Just seen O'Leary on tv, he was asked about the Leeds job, he said he still lives in the area, and loves the club and fans. He was asked a couple of times if he would take the job and avoided answering, I've got a sneaky feeling he's applied for the job. I'd still fancy McDermott or Poyet however due to hunger and recent experience they have.

Would love to see O'Leary back for his "Unfinished business". He got more out of his squad then any other manager in the last 15 years. I can't help feeling a bit sorry for him - walking into the lions den and still being a pupet to KB.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ha O'Leary was manager way before bates showed so hardly a puppet to anyone (typical any excuse to have a go at him even with made up rubbish it seems now)
as for that team, yes he got a lot out of it but also remember it came at a cost he spent what 100mil in 4 years or something? and didn't achieve the goals set to him

on a personal note though I wouldn't mind seeing him back

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you always want to bring past players and managers back to the club? they have had their time, MOVE ON

Agree2 Disagree0

Would love DOL back!

Agree0 Disagree2

I would love to see Mr O'leary back as manager, I cannot blame the debarcle from the past on him, a manager will spend what ever the chairman gives him, managers manage the team, chairman the finances of the club, Mr O'leary gotthe best out the team. I would love to see him back, and move forward and upwards again

Agree0 Disagree2

Please no, he was one of the masterminds behind our down fall, over spent on rubbish then underachieved. I'm not saying its his fault we paid excessive wages and transfer fees, but it is his fault he bought Robbie Fowler (so Keane could sit in the stand) and Seth Johnson (instead of Lampard). Its also his fault he lost the dressing room by publishing that stupid book!

Agree2 Disagree0

O'Leary didn't build that team though. It was George Graham, with Eddie Gray's youth development.

Still, I think he could do a good job, if in the right environment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul Hart Built the youth team

Agree1 Disagree0

Anyone thought about Karl Robinson?

Agree1 Disagree0

Come back o leary, do your magic with young lads coming through

Agree0 Disagree0

O'Leary had tons of money and we underachieved. No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason he did so well was that he'd spent time at the club, and knew the players well at all levels. That's why he wasn't as successful in other jobs imo.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have him back, but surely what we actually want is someone akin to O'Leary then to give us the opportunity to emulate his success.

I really think that Naylor could be that person in a couple of years if he stays involved and gets the opportunity when the next guy comes in.

In the meantime, we need someone to stabilise the team and get them grafting. I want us to get promotion, sure, but I'd just settle for us playing well and coming close for a couple of seasons at the moment. something to bring back the faith!

Have actually heard a couple of Birmingham fans suggesting that Lee Clark could be on his way to Elland Road with little compensation paid.
Personally, I'm undecided on him and I imagine Birmingham fans are just expecting a mass exodus in the summer. Not worth shooting the messenger on this one, I'm fairly sure that these guys are speculating (and pretty depressed by all accounts). Just reporting.

Believable8 Unbelievable33

I really hope not

Agree2 Disagree0

There are at least ten better options available or likely to become available. Apart from a six billion match unbeaten run at Huddersfield that ultimately led nowhere what has he achieved in management?

I have just read that Mark Hughes is classed as a front runner for the job,

god i've just brought my tea up. {Ed013's Note - This makes me feel ill}

Believable7 Unbelievable54

Can't see that being a good appointment at all if it's true. I'm all for Poyet or McDermott, give them 3 or 4 years to really get something going. To me, they would get much more out of the good crop of youngsters coming through in that time than Hughes ever would. Hughes would probably throw in the towel anyway after a while and try for something that came up in the premier league.

Agree0 Disagree0

If GFH have anywhere near the level of interaction with the fans that they claim to, they would never make that appointment.

Let's just hope they don't do it anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever seen a bank, MP or utility company listen to their customers??

Sadly I fear the same will be said of GFH

McDermott 11/10 money been ploughed on him, is someone in the know.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

5/2 still if you shop around at 16. 30hrs. worthy fav but no value. May not be GFH to appoint either.

He is the most realistic I think, why would poet come he s got a great team with Brighton and before you start going on he said he would love to be back with leeds in the future don't think that time is now for him do you? And I would like to see Brian mc d at Leeds and his style of play, and it would be a coincidence seen as the Leeds rhinos manager is called by that name. :).

Wouldn't surprise me if Grayson came back and got the backing

Agree1 Disagree0

More to the point odds on others seem to have drifted. However, GFH did say it may take months, and if they genuinely are in talks with Parkin et al, surely it will have to wait. Would take McDermott though, rather than miss out while we stand back and let others get the best candidates.

Bookies attract money, that's what they do for a living, doesn't mean anything.

If we don't manage to get O'neil I'd like to see Naylor give a chance after what he has done with the youth team

He isn't a total novice when all is said and done?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just the bookies making money, next manager not on list great way to make money

Agree0 Disagree0

Who ever we get that's hope he gets the full support of the board and the fans MOT. Jp

Agree0 Disagree0

David O'Leary on tv putting his hat in the ring, could he take charge of the new youngsters coming through? Am I dreaming again. ?

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think McDermott is relatively unproven. He did well at Reading eventually, after being there for years and knowing the club inside out. He was on course for relegation from the PL before he got sacked, and hasn't managed anywhere else.

We therefore have no reason to believe that he could replicate what success he has had. Just look at Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool - did great at Swansea, but has done nothing there so far.

City were scouting byram and Dawson yesterday, spurs were scouting Dawson and Everton were scouting byram. for goodness sakes!

Believable23 Unbelievable19

I think they were all scouting byram and just got lucky that they got to see another class player to be on show at the same time.
Dawson still looked a little light but made up for it with fast feet and the ability to get around the field and into the oppositions faces.
Everton may take the gamble on him and man city may attempt to sign byram but that would be a big blow to his full potential.

Agree0 Disagree1

. that's what football scouts do. Scout

Agree0 Disagree0

Very much doubt anyone was there to scout Dawson as it was his debut, they would have had to be psychic to know he was going to be playing

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats good though because if they're not being watched then that's because theyre
billy paynter or fedde bessone

Agree0 Disagree0

With Dawson sat on the bench for the past couple of weeks it was obviously going to happen (hopefully!) and it was the only positive thin Warnock actually did! Good to see the lad on there and he played well, let's hope this is the way we go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not surprised he's being watched (Dawson), was impressed with what I saw. Reminded me of Modric.

Agree0 Disagree0

For goodness sakes, scouts go to all games, its their job

Brian McDermott is Fav at 7/4 for Leeds job, but I'd rarther have O'neill but the bookies are offering 5-1 in him so doesn't look promising.

Believable20 Unbelievable12

As a rugby League coach fine, but not in charge at the mighty whites

Agree0 Disagree1

I cannot see any decent manager coming without backing from the board. We don't even know who will own the club next year let alone who will be the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have my money on Karl Robinson of mk dons 12/1 Neil redfearn was 50/1 before Colin left he has been slashed to 8/1 now

Agree0 Disagree0

Uncertainty with regard to who actually owns the club. Current squad poor. No money. No half decent manager will come near!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt have oneill, one of the most overated managers in the game!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, what's with the double post? Very poor standards for such a popular site lol. Come on ED raise your game lol {Ed001's Note - better?}

Leeds moved quickly to contact Martin O'Neill to replace Warnock. However, it is understood that MON does not want to take a job outside the PL and doesn't want to rush into a new appointment.

Edgar Davids to take the job before preseason. After he saves Barnet.
