I really don't know who is going to take it.
I am a bit worried that maybe Bates might scrimp and save by going for a manager with less demands.
Did not know anything about Grayson when he first came in, and he did get us out of league 1 and 7th in the championship.
So whoever takes over i'm going to try to be as optimistic as possible.

Think the Leeds squad should be very scared if Warnock gets the job,all the lazy under performing light weights we have there will be out on there ears and be picking up very small pay packets in div 1/2 and good ridance.Can not stand Bates but,he has a point about our squad of players some of them are getting good money for doing nothing,how many players did Grayson want in his squad ?surely a smaller well paid quality team is better than a huge average at best one.
At last someone with common sense ! reduce the squad size by getting rid of the hopeless under achievers (we can all name at least 1/2 dozen) use their wages to increase those we want + those we could now afford to attract = better team

I agree, we all dont like warnock but he would be great for leeds. We should get rid of 8 or 9 looking at the squad and bring in 4 or 5 quality players on loan until the season ends. Is old club qpr have a few..dj campbell etc MOT
The problem is they are on contracts,so they are happy to keep taking the money.
To get rid of them it would cost money to terminate the contracts,and we have no money to do this.
Carnt we transfer list them though to show our intentions and hopefully wake them up !

You can all say what you want about this.
But having looked down the list of bookies' favourites to take over at Leeds - I would prefer Simon Grayson to ANY of them.

Sadly Simon had to go he made two many bad signings. Forget Warnock the man who should get the job is Billy Davies.
I hate Warnock and Davies, but if it came down to the two, I'd have Warnock hands down. He has a much better record.

Depressingly, I'm afraid I agree. All my mates down here in London rate Grayson very highly (they support a variety of teams across all divisions - mainly outside London). They can't see why we got rid of him when compared with this dreary list.If you were, say, a Coventry or Leicester fan you'd be relatively up-beat at the prospect of getting Larry as manager. I know he hasn't been able to turn things round, but is there a bit of familiarity breeding contempt? I prefer him to any of the current favourites for the job. I'm not trying to be provocative; just can't get at all excited by what seems to lie ahead.
Grayson did for us what he did for Blackpool. He's yet to do more, and we have been playing very poorly this season.
Add to that the fact that we scraped through in League one, played terribly for the last half of last season, and have brought in very few decent players in his tenure, and i find it very hard to believe that no-one could do better.
He'd lost the dressing room, The defensive coaching was non-existent, and in the last 2 seasons we've had more than our fair share of 4 goal+ defeats.
I liked Grayson, but I really think it's time for a change. Someone else needs to move us forwards, and start getting the best out of our under performers.
Get a grip pal ! take a good look at our defensive record over the past 2 season's ? is the Bates fault aswell ?

Who do you think would be a good leeds united manager? Theres a few good ones too possibly look at. Neil warnock, Lee Clarke, hearing alot of steve bruce (not too sure what to think of him), Paul Ince (good guy but feel he's not the right man to take us forward?), Gus Poyet (worked with bates before, but seems like he likes the brighton role).
Gus poyet would be my number 1 but like you said, he is doing well and enjoying his time at brighton, if we cant have gus, i would be happy with warnock
Poyet said he's not coming, we won't get Clark from Huddersfield as he's doing really well there and Steve Bruce hasn't really got much of a track record.
For me, the only reasonable option there is Warnock, and he's got a history of getting teams promoted too. {Ed020's Note - i think the better choice, as much as some people don't like him, is warnock, proven at championship level, lets worry about the premiership level when we are eventually there!!!}

I'm afraid Mr. Bates and his shenanigans have probably ensured our Championship status for many years to come. Everyone's talking Premier League and we can't even hold our own in the Championship. I'm embarassed by some of our supporters, they don't seem to have a clue about what they're commenting on.
Having met incy some years ago he is a good choice and any one who can stand up to fergie is in my opinion worthy of the name the govenor bring on the good times
If you want to see FOOTBALL and not long ball, the only candidates are Zola, Poyet or Di Matteo, all ex Chelsea but have the right philosophy and would get the best out of a mediocre squad.

I've got a friend who works on the physio team at Thorp arch. He tells me that Redfearn has been given the next 3 games and depending on results may be offered the permanent position until the end of the season. Bates is still in discussions with Warnock though incase results dont go our way against Bristol, Brighton and coventry don't go our way.
I hope this is not true but knowing bates, he will probably offer redfearn the perm job in order to save money

Hearing on Twitter from Andrew Haigh and Dan Roan of BBC Sport that Lee Clark is the preferred candidate. Odds shortening significantly. Not really fancying that at all. Has had a couple of seasons at Huddersfield and significant funds and has only got play-offs twice. Draws an awful lot of games. Might not even make it this season- despite having Jordan Rhodes!! Not proven enough for what we need at our nadir and in our time of need. Hope this doesn't happen.
He would defo fit what bates is looking for but the only problem there is bates will have compensation to pay so i cant see him coming
Can't stand listening to the guy - not for me.
Wouldn't mind this too much if there's a chance he would bring Rhodes with him in the summer. Can't see Bates allowing the money needed for it though :(

Give him one of the most stressful jobs in football with no experience.
I feel for the guy and all Leeds fans have mourned our favourite son after losing him to depression recently, but this suggestion is bonkers!
We need to stop any mention of AOB for the time being. Let's get serious and show the guy the support which he obviously needs.

Hope to god this isnt true as look what he did at leicester! i want warnock personally, feel he's a good manager and maybe can get the best out of our players. I am going against most leeds fans here, because i feel we have a good squad, mixed with youth and experience.
Sven couldn't do what he did to Leicester if he came to Leeds as he would have no money . i think he is a manager with good man management but the money went to his head and he signed too many players which led to the squad struggling to gel together. had he been left in charge he would probably of had Leicester in the same position as they are now .he would also of got them promoted at some point

Let's scrape any previous managers from contention we know it doesn't work so come on Mr Bates do something decent for our club and get someone in who cares and wants Leeds to do well not just another manager who turns up then 5 minutes down the line quits because he doesn't have the chemicals to handle our club.
Grayson got a fair deal. He was lucky to get us promoted, or he'd been shown the door 2 years ago, and last season, the only reason he stayed was because he got us promoted and deserved a chance to see what he could do. He's not improved matters, he's not getting the best out of the players, and if we want a chance of promotion this year, he had to go.
We're a struggling championship team, the transfer window is shut, so we've got who we've got, Bates is the chairman, and the fans expect the earth. how exactly do you expect us to attract the best managers in the world? Its going to be a big challenge for whoever takes over, and I wish them all the best, but that's not a bad list. There are proven managers who have taken teams up to the prem, and there are managers who have managed successfully in the prem in that list. What more do we want?!
O'Driscoll would work wonders with that Leeds team. As Ed001 said he worked wonders at Donnie and i think they have a wage cap in place of £4000 a week!
A name no-one has mentioned yet is Rafa Benitez. He's worked in the lower leagues before, it's close enough to his home in the north west and currently Leeds are no threat to his beloved Liverpool. He would be my choice to ressurrect this sleeping giant!

Grayson - very lucky for the length of time he got in the limelight. I expect to hear very little of him post LUFC. Bitchin on about loosing his best players - A Wenger HAS lost some GREAT players and they are still in contention for Europe this year.
Grayson signed duds and blamed KB (no KB fan) for lack of funds (funds which he has decimated by paying wages to dud players) when his s*** signings haven't delivered.
End of IMO.
You can't get top international managers until you're a top team. End of.
For now we have to get what we can - personally, I'd have Warnock.
