heard that sam byram will sign for Manchester United in the region of 10 mil, I haven't seen anything about it on twitter or anything which I thought it was a silly rumour. But coming to think of it moyes wanted him at everton hope this isn't true

RB is probably the weakest area for united and as you say as Moyes wanted Byram at Everton always going to be a link but surely with the funds he now has he will just buy a tailor made player in his prime? Same for city and the others that have been linked? Not saying he won't go but if he does it will surely be for a club that needs to take a risk as they can't attract the big names. Maybe Everton or Westham as they seem to be gearing up for a spending spree. At least Norwich can't afford him!

So can I get this right. A die hard leeds fan who plays for leeds will sign for manchester united? I feel a bit cautious with these rumours I could understand arsenal and man city but I doubt he will go to man united

Byram is from Essex so hardly a diehard and can nobody remember a young die hard called Alan smith?

A certain Alan Smith was/is a die hard leeds fan and we all know how that one ended.

Have to remember man u are great team, money says a lot and man u are not our great rivals anymore, younger leeds fans do not have the same distain for man u as they are out of our league, I use to hate man u now I do not mind them as I hate teams like forest, derby, doncaster and millwall. Byram is from Essex, but his family moved to Leeds when he was 4. As far as he's concerned, he's lived in Leeds all his life, and he is a Leeds fan. Whether he's diehard or not remains to be seen.

Has byram lived in leeds all his life? I only ask as I am from York and pretty sure he lives in a village I won't name in York?

What's the fact he's from Essex got to do with it? I met a bloke at an away game that had lived in Southampton all his life but went to every single Leeds game of every single season since he was about 21 and he was in his 40's, that is die hard. So clearly geographical location has absolutely no bearing on your loyalty to the club.

Well just to put you all correct on this one. Apart from the above who says he lives in York. He actually lives down the road from me and you'll never guess what. ? I live in York! He isn't going anywhere this season come from the guy himself.

No way Byram's worth 10 mill. IF he's sold this season (and I really don't think he will be) he'll probably go for 2-3 mill. Let's face it: the lad has played one decent season in the championship, and proved talent at this level. Not enough to rate him world class or even top PL class, and even wealthy clubs will not spend 8-10 mill on a player for the bench or future!

You don't sell kids on consistent performances, you sell them on potential. Byram is worth around 8-10 million plus add-ons.
The longer he stays, the more his value is based on performance and consistency. in which case, expect that value to edge down. Not saying he won't get better but, as he gets older, his potential gives way to his past record. Footballers have very short careers and Byram's peak is (theoretically) about 8 years away.

I come from Dundee and I have never heard a single rumour of Russell going to Leeds. All the talk I know of is about him wanting to go to Celtic.

followed the site for a while, first time post

I have a source in the club and I thought you'd be interested to know a bid was tabled for the purchase of the club two weeks ago, by a local firm based in the city, don't know who. This firm swiftly pulled out due to the lack of professionalism and knowledge of the club by GFH capital. says they're a 'bunch of persons' (not my words)

Also I can confirm that Bates role in the club is not dormant, he will still be active in the running of the club, even in his new role, how active I don't know and its not clear if he still owns shares.

I know its time to look to the future and speculate about potential signings.

sorry to drag all this back up, myself as a leeds fan can't wait for the day that we start moving forward, but don't expect too much this summer and next season. expect to see free's, loans and youths, no big bucks signings.

Hopefully i'm wrong and we'll have a successful season

and as for the first comment, bates isn't leaving, he's president for 3 years, which means he is still involved with the club, at some level. my guess is that GFH will be running the club under his guidance, they'll have final say but he'll be a strong influence in what they do.

we need to get real guys. we're leeds united and were being run into the ground. I want nothing more than to be proud of the club and wear the shirt with pride but its going to be a long time before that happens.

First of all, local company? Do tell me what local company that is based in Leeds would have the financial power to pull this off? None.

Secondly, the person who is your 'source' (if you do have one) wouldn't tell you sensitive information like this as they would be sacked for gross misconduct.

And lastly, Bates is Honorary President, he takes over from Lord Harewood. Was Lord Harewood actively involved in the running of the club? No. Did he own shares in the club? No. Was he only ever present or involved in purely ceremonial events? Yes.

Grow up and stop posting nonsense. It's a rumours page for genuine rumours with valid sources, not something you've dreamt up in your head. people like you ruin this site.
