Think Crainie will be no better than Bruce but definitely someone who can provide cover in an emergency or when a player needs a rest. He will probably play 20 games in a season including sub appearances. Next player I want to see is McGugan. Playmaker who won't cost much and a lot of these good players who have a dodgy season make a serious comeback in form when they move club. Round it all off with Peltier Cox and Maynard and we will do very well.
Believable6
Unbelievable7
Completely agree about mcgugan, quality player
Agree0
Disagree0
The advantage with Crainie is he can play anywhere across the defence. we have a very versatile team now, most players can play 2 or 3 positions.
Agree0
Disagree0
You think Forest, who have a £20m war chest, will be selling their best player?
Why would you even think McGugan would want to come? As things stand, we look average. Its time to get this takeover done, NOW!
Agree0
Disagree0
Your dreaming mate, Maynard and cox. We can't have both.
I think well see peltier, George Boyd and dj Campbell coming in.

Peltier - Templeton - Cox

Mcugan would be a very good buy, Cranie a good squad player but Cox is out of our price bracket.

Agree0

Crainie is a decent defender i would be pleased if he signs
Agree0
Disagree0
The point being he will be paid a salary much less than Bruce, thus leaving more money to bring in one or two better players. Its all about balancing the books!
Agree0
Disagree0
I would avoid mcgugan at all costs. I'm a Leeds fan living in Nottingham n I don't think many florist fans would be too disheartened to see him leave purely because of his attitude! The guy is a CM and spits his dummy out when played anywhere else and I simply don't think CM is a priority for us anymore. He was benched/reserved under Billy Davies for half a season die to his lazy attitude!
Peltier, Templeton and beckford/maynard I agree with though....we would be a massive force to be reckoned with then!

Thats the point, that makes warnock stand out as a manager. he will never have a player playing in a position they do not know well. this is why lees has been playing rb, so that he is very fimiliar with the role when called upon.

Jack of all trades master of none
A team full of relegated players does not bode well in my eyes
Agree0
Disagree1
A team full of relegated players?
Kenny, Drury, Green and Austin ... were not relegated and three are full internationals.
Ashdown, Pearce, Norris and Varney were relegated because of an imposed 10 points deduction.
The glass is at least half full and if the best is yet to come, according to Neil Warnock, it might, just might be full enough.

Cox is off to swansea, he ain't coming to us, its all about beckford
Agree0

Does warnocks masterful 'not playing a player in a position they don't know' not apply to aidy white and right wing then? Honestly, one day I think i'll see a rumour on here about warnock feeding 5 thousand Leeds fans with 5loaves and 2 fish!

Why not he worked miracles at the blunts and qpr?

Yes but at blunts and qpr he did not just sign Portsmouth players and have no funds from the chairman

Templeton and Boyd are both average players, would rather us go for Kightly and a forward with pace
Agree1
Disagree0
They would all cost a fee and ken is not spending money so you need to look at free transfers not the players you have mentioned
Agree0
Disagree0
I would be delighted if we got either Boyd or Templeton. If we got both, that would give us a lot of trickery in offensive positions; and in the case of Templeton, pace, whilst Boyd would offer a welcome infusion of creativity. If we were able to get a pacey, powerful goalscorer as well, I would -on balance- be prepared to sacrifice McCormack, despite his undoubted virtues, in the name of a balanced team that would I think be better placed to gain promotion. Interested to hear what others think on that one. Chapel A
Agree0
Disagree0
Kightly! and how much do you think he would cost? You are totally unrealistic, we cannot afford his transfer fee or wages ffs
Agree0
Disagree0
Course we could,he is in his last yr now,we just got 3m for snod and are awiting the so called 'investment'..Warnock has stated he still wants his 'Excellent signings'..an average Boyd and a player who looks half decent in the spl hardly deserve the phrase 'excellent'do they...ffs

does anyone know if we gonna sign tempelton because thats what we need now snodgrass has gone i hope so before some other team like forest grab him and we lose out agen.
Believable6
Unbelievable3
I doubt we will be signing templeton, which I don't think is a massive deal, though he would be a good signing. Reasons for this, warnock has stated many times he wanted to play snodgrass in a more central free role behind attacker(s), templeton is a winger, and I don't know much about him, but guessing he isn't suited to the more central role, unlike varney. I've seen negativity about varney on here, but I think he did well under holloway at blackpool, who is an established manager, so I believe warnock will get the best of varney and he will flourish for us!
Charlie brown MOT!
Agree0

Unlikely as he has an asking price of £1m
Agree0
Disagree0
You mean ipswich or crystal palace any time where linked to someone they both try to snap them up.
Agree0
Disagree0
Templeton is a little bit like Mad Max ... loads of pace, tricky and can score goals. Sign him ... he's young talented and will certainly add flair to the squad.
JDC
Agree0
Disagree0
Warnock wanted Snoddy to play central because he felt he was more suited to that role, Templeton is more of an outright winger with a bit of pace and if that is what Warnock is looking for then he would be perfect, 1 mil may be expensive but to buy another in that position of that quality would be double that.
foxrat
Agree0
Disagree0
Warnock has apparently said templeton isnt the kind of player he wants to bring in.....
Agree0
Disagree0
I know Templeton is highly regarded, but i'm sure we would be able to get George Boyd for cheaper.
Would personally take either, but i'm always wary about buying from the SPL. There is some very good talent, but the prestige of the league has always been a debating point, and have seen countless times, players come over and struggle.
Not saying there isn't the few exceptions, and would be happy to see Templeton in a Leeds shirt, but £1m does seem abit steep.
Agree0
Disagree0
Henri Lansbury and Vladmir Weiss or even Joey Barton either permanent or on loan are the calibre of player Leeds should be signing not Crainie, Templeton, Drury, Green, Norris etc. or Beckford who missed bucket loads of chances playing in the 3rd division! If there was a takeover of any significance we wouldn't be sniffing around free signings. They are released for a reason!

I think what Neil meant was he will only go to the club we have to pay less money to, to take him off our hands!! ;-)

Hi, Chris is a super bloke and a cracking player. I worked (?) with his father, another super bloke, (he played rugby, does not make him a bad person, but boy, could he hoof a ball!) Back in the day I met Chris at Newforge, and asked him to consider signing for the Mighty Whites as he was going nowhere at Middles Earth, but the bright lights of the midlands pulled him in.
IMO, the best left foot in the game, and if he signs, I can dine out on the fiver his Da will owe me,(Bruno, are you still out there? 35 South, will stand you a pint)

Totally different regarding captains going.. are captains going UP to prem .. Thers aint gonna go DOWN to championship! IMO
Agree0

Unlike us, West Brom take themselves seriously as a football club and would be worried about the message that selling their captain gives to their loyal fans.
I don't why anyone would think a move for a highly rated 27 year old Premier League captain to a Championship club would be in any way likely.
It CERTAINLY won't happen with Bates around, for the reason of wages alone.

Good squad player to have as back up, very pleased with defence for this season compared to last season, defensive cover was poor last season in my opinion so looking good so far. Cranie also useful because he is a versatile defender can play full back or centre half.
Agree0
Disagree0
My thoughts? Not relevant. Like most Leeds fans, I don't know a lot about him. It's Warnock's thoughts that matter, and he's described him as a "squad player" which means that he hopes he won't have to play him. So I'm not getting over-excited.

With the news that Martin Crainey is now likely to be offered a contract I think it would be fair to say we have our defence and central midfield sorted for the coming season, now Neil if you would be so kind as to sign some exciting midfielders and possibly a striker that would go down a treat, cheers. If you read what NW said about him on the OS you will realise he is not one of the big signings we are waiting for. He called him a good squad player and if he accepted the role offered him at the club then he would sign him.

NW has already been quoted as saying that he would be a squad player

I dont know why people seem to think dj campbell would be a crucial signing but he had a good season with blackpool and scored one goal for qpr and everyone is making him out to be a world beater. and tbh an unfit davide somma is much much better.

Original poster..i dont particularly mean campbell but someone of his ilk.a prem player
Agree0

People are saying Campbell because he is the most likely. Good pacey striker . Proven in the championship, warnock and him worked together at qpr. His wages won't be astronomical like beckford, and the fee will be less than both beckford and Maynard.
Dont get me wrong, id love to see beckford . Maybe maynard, but everyone forgets that maynard is injury prone and usually sits out atleast 3 months a season. I Expect to see Campbell signing soon.
If we get anyone better or younger like beckford then it would be a nice surprise

Just read on the evening post Eddie Gray says we have enough strikers and only looking at 1 maybe 2 more players.
1 defender who I think will be Peltier and a centre midfielder or winger depending where he plays aidy?
I think we need peltier a good winger and a play maker which we haven't had for years and 1 more striker then I'll be happy.
If take over happens maybe spend the extra money on real tallent as we have all the basics covered.
Long as we play as a team we should be up there at the end of the season.
