heard a wild rumour is that its not a takeover bid its the investement will be a 10 million pounds invetsment for stadium name rights for 5 years but thats just a rumour i hope ime wrong

Believable4 Unbelievable19

All the main sources are pointing towards a takeover bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Investment or takeover doesnt really bother me, give Warnock 5mil and I'm sure he'd get up us. Bates can have his moment, make a few quid and then finally pi55 off

Agree0 Disagree0

Like i said some rumour origionates from norway

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we can all chip in and get the name changed to the "Get Bates Out Of Our" Stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont own our stadium though, so how would this work?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, surely we would have no right to name a stadium we don't actually own?

Agree0 Disagree0

They better not change the name of the stadium. That would be simply dishonourable. I was disgusted by what they did at Newcastle, for example, and I really don't want that to happen to us too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't be any worse than the Lurpac family stand!! but yeah, if we dont own the ground, what good does renaming it do the club?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually while leeds are paying rent leeds can call the stadium whatever they like the owners own the stadium and not the name its called elland road for the simple fac it on elland road if leeds was able to secure investmant for stadium nameing right it could be called anything they want it to be

Agree0 Disagree0

Renaming your stadium in a deal with a third party increases your turnover which in turn means you'll be able to spend more under the new 'fair play' rules for expenditure. Makes sense to do it if you can. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if its just naming rights then why all the hush hush??? surely they would just come out with it just like newcastle did.

Heard from a friend, a reliable source who isn't a Leeds fan but knows ppl within ER that Leeds are to release a statement over the takeover/investment bid tomorrow (am) couldn't say anymore as that's all he knew.

for the past few months Nottm Forest have been in talks with canadian and kuwaiti based consortiums. 2 weeks ago both consortiums made an offer to buy forest. After a successful meeting in Dubai between the Doughty estate and al-Hasawi, they decided it was the best intrest to accept the kuwaiti bid over the canadians. The canadians have now turned their attention to buying leeds but are being put off by the asking price bates is demanding. Hope that clears things up. Good luck. You deserve to be back in the big time. Ps, im not a forest fan.

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Let's pretend, let's pretend, let's pretend we're in the know! Wish people would stop doing this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Clear as mud!! Thanks for that , I'll sleep well knowing that we won't be bought out or invested in after all.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you "knew" all this why are only just mentioning it now. No one knows anything that is going on. People don't conduct large money business deals in public. It's all done behind closed doors.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im affraid im not pretending. I have seen the proof and been following the matter for months now. The national newspaper I work for will be runing the story when given the go ahead by Seymore Pierce (the finance group dealing with the sale of forest). They currently have a embargo off the courts stating that tabloids are not to publish takeover details until the deal is done. Similar thing happened with the man city takeover. I would rather see leeds have the kuwaitis than forest as im a leicester fan. They have a vast amount of wealth and seem to mean buisness.

Agree0 Disagree0

If thats the case then how have u got all the info and what paper do u work 4 if ur telling the truth that forest been bought out then u have give info out wicth could cost u ur job so i say bull s**t m8

Agree0 Disagree0

This post is about as reliable as a chocolate fire guard

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true and forest have bin bought tell us wot paper u work for the post some proofhis has happened... othawise stop posting stuff that dont exist... with debt that forest have ill be surprised if anyone buys them... lets not forget the disastrous season they had last year with the amount they spent ova last few years... bulls**t rumours as per usual

Agree0 Disagree0

There are no injunction restrictions on reporting possible takeovers. For listed companies onus is on companies to fully disclose to the market once a newspaper has the story. Doesn't mater for Leeds though in any case because they are a private company, so the courts cannot issue any injunction preventing disclosure by newspapers. Suggest you've cobbled together a few facts ( such as Seymour pierce working on watford deal) and chucked it out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I work for The Sun. We have been given the green light to run the story. I was only telling you what I knew so you wouldn't get to excited about something that's not true. On another note, the candian consortium are being put off by a certain Mr Bates. Demanding too much for a 30% stake. Don't forget to buy The Sun in the morning!! Thanks D.S

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if that's the case, in this instance, The Sun has been done a number on by the YEP, who have spoken to Forest who have confirmed they are unaware of any bid for the club from Al-Hasawi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting has The Sun been tapping peoples phones again? I've seen reports in the Yorkshire Post that say Forest are no where close to any investment. Sorry dont believe you work at all let alone for for any newspaper as giving info out would be more than you jobs worth

Agree0 Disagree0

If thats the case then y is it take forest havent agreed a deal yet nothing has come out ab nottingham forest fc about takeover they said thay are in the early stage and i have info that state leeds as of the min will release statement tomorrow comfirming that leeds has been bought not show if ist fawaz alhasawi the gazilionaire or kitkat co that no1 picked up on hope to c leeds back where they belong

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry i working for the nottingham press office my son an avid leeds fan pointed me to this site its a well known fact that forest are looking for investment but no talks have taken place {Ed013's Note - Of course they are. At current they need a new owner and that's why I think it will be easier for the Kuwait business man to go for Forest}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the guy means he has been working IN the sun, hes a bricklayer. Prob been in it too long as well by what hes posting

Agree0 Disagree0

The staff at Forest are not in the know. Seymore Pierce and the benifactors of the doughty estate are the one's conducting the sale of the club. Apart from Frank Clark no one else needs to know and all he's been told is that they are in negotiations with unkown buyers as a statement confirmed last month. They are waiting and know just as much as the fans. But the story is true. Nottingham Forest will be owned by a billionaire kuwaiti within the next week. Leeds last major hope now is the american consortium. The canadians have pulled out. If Bates don't drop the asking price or raise the shares avalible the Americans will pull out too. Hope not as they are the only major money men left now. D.S

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh god so let me get this right. No one at forest knows but You "At The Sun" know everything?? yep def phone tapping or maybe you just stumbled on the info while tying your shoe lase. You dont know anything There has been no news of any Canadian interest that was just a rumor which has been denied by the people it involved.

Agree0 Disagree0

The difference is, it is our job to look into these deals and find out whats going on. It's called journalism. Is this the same canadians that denied intrest in forest? But I have proof they submited a offer to buy the club. Just don't look to the east for investment. All intrest in leeds seem to be coming from north america and a uk based buisness man.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not looking to the east or west as I dont know who is going to take over or even if anyone is going to take over. You haven't said anything at all that hasn't already been either on twitter rumor sites or in the news in some way or another. That's not journalism it's called copying & pasting so if you are really from The Sun which I seriously doubt go do some proper journalism and tell us something that hasn't already been posted. Then I will be impressed

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and if you have proof about the Canadian's then prove it

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't publish them sort of documents on here come on. I will tell you that the uk millionaire enquiring about leeds is Brian Kennedy!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Might be complete rubbish...but someone claiming to be a kuwaiti diplomatic attache has tweeted congratulating leeds on being bought by fawaz al hasawi....."i think leeds will become 2nd mancity"....we can but hope! MOT!

Believable15 Unbelievable19

Who wants to be the 2nd man city i wanna be the firts leeds united

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw that too. It's been all day on twitter. A lot of Kuwaitis having fun with us I think. But the one who really has spurred the whole thing is the watan kuwait tv head of sports news Fahad al Ibrahim. Around 2000 Leeds fans rushed to follow his news but after saying he was 100 sure it's Leeds as he had spoken to close people now in the last half an hour turned it to Forest. The interview itself said nothing apart from saying he liked QPR style, warlock a grat manager and how they got bought and went up and wants to do something similar

Agree0 Disagree0

The 'First' Leeds United? How about the ONLY Leeds United?

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest I would love to see things change at Leeds for the better, but I want players who want to play for Leeds & not for the money,That is if this takeover is to be believed, i'm leeds through & through but don't want a team full of mercenaries !

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2012 17:10:10
Why have sky sports news not reported on this talk about this Kuwait guy? Makes me think it's not going to happen to either us or forest. I just wonder why it would be Forrest infront of us anyway, we have the bigger fan base, bigger stadium (not ours but will be when he buys) and if he wants warnock he's already bloody at Leeds, cannot see the sence in picking Forrest over us but hay what do I know

Sussex White. MOT!

Believable15 Unbelievable6

From what is on the video it all signed ...so it means either

1. Warnock is leaving to go to Forest and forest deal is better value

2. OR ... its Leeds and bit of jousting going on between the bidders to get the deal done - yanks and or yank/Kuwaiti consortium

if Warnock walks to opposition and Bates doesnt sell up then hes gonna look ridiculous - not good for either of them or us

so I cant see that happening

(hankin)

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock said he wanted 3 or 4 in before he went on holiday and hes managed 1. Theres got to be a significant reason behind why this has happened, besides Bates not giving the money! Surely its got to be to do with some form of takeover and bates not willing to spend before he gets out? It Bates was just working on an investing partner surely he would have still stumped up the money for ward? Yes, i know theres lots of factors why Ward maybe didnt come (didnt want to etc etc,) but that still doesnt explain why no one else has signed. Its all very quiet but im a little excited at the possible prospects of whats to happen.

MOT
Fuzzy

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a weak rumour - this middle east rumour is pre-occupying loads of Leeds fans. BBC said last night a Chicago group are thought to be in pole position. Why the obsession with a Kuwaiti group? Lots of hot air and no substance right now!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's mentioned Warnock, Leeds are at an advance stage with 1 party and this Kuwaiti guy has said a deal is imminent maybe forest is just being used as a smoke screen

Agree0 Disagree0

He's all mouth, reminds me of that alleged wealthy arab who claimed he wanted to buy us before Bates did.

Agree0 Disagree0

He probably chose forest because there books are easier to understand than the one bates produced

Agree0 Disagree0

One very good reason from there point of view is...the forest chairman will be a hell of a lot easier to deal with than ours, and will probably value his club realistically, where as ours will be thinking the end of the rainbow us currently upon elland rd and he will be wanting an overflowing pot of gold

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats just it a twitter rumour started bye a man u fan who got the leeds fans excited only to switch to forest leaving us deflated look on hi clubs website he still listed as president the origian twitter man claimes that the team had won 100 championships since he took controll the fact is he didnt become president untill 2010

Agree0 Disagree0

Could it be the Ward signing didn't happen because the new investment means we will be looking higher up the food chain for players than the Championship level?

mk

Agree0 Disagree0

Fawaz alhasawi has bought leeds for 55 million as he wanted 80 million and the first bid was 38 million settled on 55 million will come out when ken bates back off hols they meet last week bate steping down coz he made 3/5 million + 4 million for max and howson last year and is retiring at age of 80 and kitkat co was one of the ova groups from the states i work at leeds united his a gazilionaire

Lee Peltier from Leicester - been linked - might be good buy

Believable14 Unbelievable7

Wont be coming anytime soon untill all this investment takeover carp is done with

Agree0 Disagree0

True but what do you want to buy with him? If it's anything upward of 400 grand you can forget it.

Agree0 Disagree0

According to the leicester mercury, leeds have offered 500,000 for the 25year old ex hudds player..they paid 750,000. he was an ever present last year for them. so leeds do have money, could be NW did not fancy joel ward anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was that good would Leicester be willing to sell him?they don't exactly need money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a leicester fan and no lee and he will not be going to you juat to let all you leeds fans no!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a mate who is a leicester fan who claims peltier was by far the 'week link' in leicester's defence; they actually at the end of the season tried Sean St Ledger at rb as a different option

Agree0 Disagree0

I've also seen that Leicester have bid/bidding for Liam Rosenior from Hull for around Ł1m. He's a right back so maybe there preparing for Peltier's departure and bringing in a new first choice RB?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2012 16:31:03
I see a lot of mention of the Kuwaiti guy buying Forest and the Manager will be Warnock...hmmm

Believable7 Unbelievable18

Its looking like Forrest all the way as they want 100% ownership and not investment plus Forrest is only worth Ł50.00 and not the Ł80mill Bates is looking for...!

Anyway the Forrest fans are giving us some stick on there site claiming there a bigger club etc etc
yawn..!

Agree0 Disagree0

NW goin nowwhere as he wants to retire at leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2012 15:16:18
The reason why Ward didn't sign was down to the investment and not the fee. Ward would have chose Leeds but Bates wouldn't cough up the money, instead he opted to save it and let the investors pay it but its too late now. Ward didn't want Pompey waiting and paying his wages so he went to Crystal Palace to help the club out.

Believable15 Unbelievable9

Lets not fret about Ward, there are equally good right backs (if not better) who will become available once the cash from the new investor(s) materialises. After all we didn't want to buy virtually the whole of the Pompey defence which got them relegated from the Championship lol!

Agree0 Disagree0

Think we need to move on from the WARD saga guys...he has gone,he chose crystal palace, nothing to say really,we will get someone bigger and better than him? mark my words

Agree0 Disagree0

No good saying Bates wouldnt stump up the cash as the proposed investment/takeover wouldnt allow that, as soon as talks are serious there is no in and out so they know the assets of the club

Agree0 Disagree0

You're at the cutting edge of the news you!!!!

NOT EVEN IN ENGLISH! no one knows fo sho who new owners will be until announced, not YEP not BBC not ssn. we will know when its properly announced!

Agree0 Disagree0

No quotes - or fresh news there sadly .... just summizing based on last nights gossip on twitter that I was involved with - think Forest are the team - why I dont know !! - let think that then its a top surprise if wrong eh !

Agree0 Disagree0

Upa City, PSG and Malaga, another club in Europe is preparing to talk budget in football forever! British expecting a new investment of hundreds of millions in future a club that has survived a dramatic decade.
Leeds United Arab money expected to forget the humiliation last season! Arrived up 3rd in the league after financial disaster 10 years ago, Leeds Championship returned in 2010 and now threatens an investment-rich Premier League monster!

Fawaz Al-Hasawi Kuwaiti billionaire is willing to give anything to see Leeds back among the big names in the Champions League! He prepared and announced that formalized business millions is just a matter of days. Former president of FC Qadsia, his country, Al-Hasawi has more wealth than Sheikh Mansour, the man who revolutionized football with his investment of one billion to Manchester City!

Leeds's current majority shareholder, Ken Bates, has yet to comment on any negotiations, but the club issued a statement confirming the talks.

If you do not reach the hands of Al-Hasawi, Leeds United will almost certainly remain in the hands of Bates. A U.S. consortium has prepared an offer for tens of millions of former Cup finalists.

Only 14 Championship last season, Leeds clearly aims to promote the end of next season.

There is probably more than one company in Chicago that invests in sports so doesn't mean that someone in Chicago hasn't put an offer in. Im happy for either to take control as long as they put money into the team. Nothing against Bates in fact (and I know I will get slaughtered for this) i dont think hes been that bad over all but to get to the next level and then fight for trophies we need someone with more clout behind them. heres hoping

YEP reporting Chicago based firm shown round Thorpe arch an Roland road yesterday

db

Believable12 Unbelievable6

Roland Road? Where's that then pal? They should have looked around Elland Road. Any potential deal may be scuppered if they looked at Roland Road! I suspect there isn't a football ground there!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh no, Leeds United don't even own any property on Roland Road. Typical Leeds, they've probably ruined their chances of selling now

Roland Road h the most run down street in Beeston Leeds - that would have left a good impression

Believable23 Unbelievable11

Don't get too excited (I know its difficult). Its looking more likely Forest than Leeds for the Kuwait bid.
I would love anybody to buy Bates out but until its in black and white I wouldn't believe anything, especially when bates is involved.

I hope whatever happens good or bad it is sorted ASAP so Colin, the players and the fans know where they are. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

While the takeover isnt concrete i would urge all fans to be cautious interest in 2 clubs leeds and forest and yes while i would say we are the biggest of the 2 clubs look at it from another point of view like how much is it going to cost and how quick before they get a return on the investment it is all business my money says that with leeds they have the biggest fan base in the world bigger than all the glory supporters and on that basis i would hope that they would opt to buy leeds but they could do the same with forest only it may take longer to get there money back really hope it is leeds and then just maybe we will reach the promised land again only this time not get saddled with the debt and push on home grown tallent s the way forward and even through all the c**p we have still produced some quality players from our accademy so lets hope that we get the deal done and i agree no better person for finding good players and making them great players than warnock a 3 year deal is a must with the right backing i think he will produce the goods

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry phil hay reckons its bull neither saurces in leeds or forrest have heard about it but details coming out in kuwait its forest he is after hope its wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems Forest are the chosen one's regarding Fawaz Al-Hawasi, pretty gutted if this is the case, however it would seem there is still talk of investment in the club which is still a positive move in gaining promotion to the premier league which IMO is the main goal for any club in this division regardless of who owns the club. M.O.T.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly the same source that disclosed it was Forest has now gone back and said he's been told something different.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all rubbish.....I would bet anything on KB owning Leeds this time next year..
Why would he try and build a casino then sell before its done. {Ed013's Note - The Casino is nothing to do with KB, it is a venue that has been chosen and is 1 of 5 locations that will get it. Leeds won't have to pay a penny and for its troubles will get a re-vamped West Stand}

Hi, the terms bigger and better can and are subjective.
GRFC, Champions League every year, bigger attendances, oh, and I seem to recall the great Wilkinson team could not beat them over a two legged Euro cup tie.
To hold their present financial problems against them would be somewhat churlish, cannot see them in Scottish division two somehow.
As I say all things can be subjective.

Leeds much bigger club WORLDWIDE than rangers, and always will be

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, okay I will concede to your greater knowledge on that one, I have not been all round the world and taken straw polls, maybe you have.
That may be why when GRFC went belly up, there were more reports of interest in that club than ours, and sooner.
I notice you omitted the better bit.

Fawaz al-Hasawi is a member of a prominent business family in Kuwait, who has made his fortune from companies in refrigeration and electro-mechanical contracting.

It is believed he has been pursuing interest in both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, another fallen giant of the English game, and he admitted in a press conference on Tuesday that a deal “for a second tier English club” was indeed imminent — a club that “has a big history in football”.

However, he did also say that he won't reveal the name of the club until the end of June.
