Brian McDermott has told Reading Radio he is "very very hungry" for a new job. Please please can we have him?

Believable46 Unbelievable9

Why are so many convincedon Mcdermott a manager lost his job because his team are routed to the foot of the prem! He was sacked and not unfairly they weren't turning any corners but surviving on the odd shock result. His reputation was built on a winning run they put together to go from 16th in the championship to automatic promotion. its rare that happens and Whatwere his credentials before and since? He is not the answer I for one don't rate him he has zero personality and they way Reading have set up and played this season has been woeful at times there defence was a joke. I think he has been found out and is desperate for another Job. I hope we don't sign him as in my opinion we will not be moving forward. MOT Gus Poyet for me all day

Agree1 Disagree0

McDermott does have good experience of running a club from top to bottom though. He had about 15 years at Reading and has been instrumental in developing them into a top champ / low prem team. Not saying that's what we need necessarily, but may be what is interesting the owners

Agree0 Disagree0

2nd poster I see your point, however Gus has not even got Brighton out of the Championship yet. Don't get me wrong i'd love Gus to come, but McDermott wouldn't be a bad appointment either

I feel if the choice was to be a manager who is not currently working, he would have been in place by now so either they can't decide, they are waiting to see who applies or the person they want is currently employed.

Just checked out the odds of Leeds being in a different league next year. 100/1 to be promoted but 50/1 to be relegated!

Believable19 Unbelievable7

If you can get odds of 100/1 then snap it up. can't see you ugetting better than 16 anywhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

That mean getting up this year and playing prem next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies you may be right I was thinking you meant promotion or relegation next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats acctually good odds for us to get relegated because we are only 5 points off.

Just heard a little rumour that leeds are not even able to pay all of the squads wages by the end of the seaon. don't know what to believe anymore.

Believable15 Unbelievable73

Surely as part of the fit and proper tests the fa would have sought reassurances that players won't be financially effected.
Not dismissing your "rumour" but agree don't know what to believe these days on the other hand I don't think gfh would not pay players and staff

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would they recall polean then?

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't read much into it, plus the money they have just received would surely be able to pay the wages.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ive heard the same rumour they need a loan to pay players wages ps ( a good source but sorry cannot disclose)

Agree0 Disagree1

If we couldn't pay wages we would not be recalling loan players or giving youth players contracts which increases the wage bill.

Agree1 Disagree0

In the summer, their income (gate receipts, advertizing, merchandizing etc) may not be able to match their outgoings (players and staff salaries, lease on facilities, advertizing and promotions etc)

GFH have already recognized the need to "inject working capital" and have done so in the past. At present they are trying to maximize/inflate the asset valuation and overall balance sheet while accepting a short term negative cash flow.

Lots of businesses will do this in the short term.

But you can't do it in the long term.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds are now a listed company and if they are financially stressed have a legal obligation to tell the stock exchange. As they issed a statement last week that the sale of 10% equity was not a sign of financial weakness I doubt your rumour has any merit.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2013 11:24:49
What a load of tosh! Why would you spend 50m+ and then find out in less than 4 mth you can't pay wages? It's b*******, we'll b going into admin next month, then bankrupt before summer!

Agree0 Disagree0

They didn't spend 50m+, they bought the club for just over 20m and an injection of 10m, but then got an investor on board, so yes there could be something in the rumour.

If we get McDermott which Reading
players would you like to see follow him to
Leeds or if we get poyet which Brighton
Players to Leeds?

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Le fondre

Agree1 Disagree0

None, both very average sides.

Agree0 Disagree1

McDermott:
Church
Robson-Kanu
Leigertwood
McCleary

Poyet:
Barnes
Orlandi
Lua Lua
Hammond

Agree0 Disagree0

Lua lua CMS and pombrentniak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam lefondre

Agree0 Disagree0

Please please stop mentioning Ggus poyet, is he really going to leave Brighton for Leeds he seems happy did he not knock reading back come down to earth McDermott will cost nothing and I reckon he is interested

Agree1 Disagree1

To the guy who said Barnes are u mad he's crap he's just like billy paynter.

Del Boy 11

Agree0 Disagree0

Del boy 11, you are dead right mate about Digger Barnes. He can't even foul the Ref properly. Bton season tkt holder.
ps Ulloa, Vicente, kuzszchak, Bridcutt, Upson and Bridge, Buckley would walk straight into your side. Bridge and Upson are on loan admittedly but this shows you the kind of player Poyet could attract to your side!

Agree1 Disagree0

Le Fondre and Kebe from Reading.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Apr 2013 06:55:14
harte just for his free kick ability.
le fondre for his late goals

macail smith for his work rate

Agree0 Disagree0

Reading:
Le Fondre
Gareth McCleary (he tore us apart when Forest beat us 7-3)
Jimmy Kebe
Leighterwood
Mariappa (Centre back)

Brighton:
Will Hoskins
Liam Bridcutt
CMS
Calderon
Will Buckley

These are just ideas I don't want all 10/11 of them lol

Agree0 Disagree0

None why have players from a relegated club and players from a team not good enough to get promotion?

Agree0 Disagree0

McCleary
Le Fondre
Robson-Kanu
Mariappa
Gunter
Kebe
Leigertwood

Agree0 Disagree0

Le fondra we should have signed him in the first place. Cas White

Agree0 Disagree0

To the poster 3rd from bottom

Because although they got relegated they have already done the business at this level AND teams that get relegated or are decent in the championship have standout players a la Bridcutt, Buckley JUST LIKE WE TOO have stand out players!

Agree0 Disagree0

So you wouldn't have wanted snodgrass if you managed any other team? or Becchio? as they were in a team not good enough to go up back then. same with Gradel and Howson etc. Beckford was in a team for a couple of years that couldn't even get promoted from League 1 would you not want them? what a joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

All of them to replace the shower we have the moment. I am seriously worried about our chances of staying up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil Redfearn has recalled Dominic Poleon.

Believable36 Unbelievable2

Indeed get him in first team and drop Morison.

We need youth, flair and exuberance.

Agree0 Disagree1

Thats a positive move for Leeds and a kick in the eye for Warnock

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to get more leeds youth into first team, poleon dawson byram full of energy, ashdown as better than Kenny, play hall then the best out of what we have now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Play youth and experience, poleon and McCormack, Morrison on bench. Minefield of hall, Dawson, Austin, green. Defence, byram, lees, Pearce, Warnock, ash down in nets, like red fears, but give Naylor a chance too show what he can do. Bench, should include, white, brown, Morrison, and youngsters, use Varner as an example to young guys, and say here is a player that had the potential and did not live up to expectations, why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Martin O'Neill has told the Daily paper that he would love the journey of promoting a championship club 'like' Leeds, with bags of ambition, but doesn't want to rush into another manager role just yet.

Believable25 Unbelievable6

Steve Mcclaren heard from a good soured

I have heard rumblings that if palace lose the play-offs then holloway will be sacked. Possible choice? Or too good for us?

Believable2 Unbelievable37

Too good? Yeh he did great at Plymouth, qpr and Leicester didn't he?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

My wife palace fan, I woul bring back Warnock before holloway, he wold dump us as soon as a club became available in London, for personal reasons, I ne'er stand. We need a to try something left field, I will put Richard Naylor in charge, with an experienced coaching staff. He has done well with under 18s and sure the leeds fans would give him a chance.

I look at all the good managers and cannot think of a great manager who was a mega star football player.

Agree0 Disagree2

Why do people think we need to try something "left field"? We need to appoint the best manager we can afford at this level with an eye on the next league up. This has to be those such as Poyet, Freeman, Davies, McDermott, Mackay, Zola. or old timer like McCarthy

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff, Guardiola not good enough examples?
Mega star footballers don't all go into management. Some succeed, some fail. No different from anyone else. The guys who couldn't cut it as footballers often seem to feel they have more to prove.
Depends on your definition of 'megastar'.
A good manager is a good manager. Maybe doesn't always have a career littered with trophies but gets the best out of what he has available and breeds a philosophy which outlives his own short presence at a club.
We will always live in the shadow of Don Revie and that's not always been a blessing but, does give you an illustration of the legacy (and often unrealisitc expectation) a great manager leaves behind.

Just heard a bit of a wild card for manager, Grayson to return to Leeds, could he do it with good backing from board??

Believable23 Unbelievable78

03 Apr 2013 10:08:49
i would have him back just to add a bit more of an attacking style to the squad, atleast we was heading in the right direction when he was managing leeds and the club is in his heart

Agree0 Disagree1

Just let it die mate, the past is past.

Agree1 Disagree0

O'Leary said when he left Leeds that he had "Unfinished Business". If that is not sufficient incentive to get your sleeves rolled up and get on with it - what is?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2013 12:01:02
The fact that Oleary left Leeds over 10 years ago and has not managed competitively in the last 7 years coupled with the we have tried this before with El Tel should say to you we need a current experienced manager from the Championship or prem. So no to Coyle O leary Grayson and A massive never to Hughesor Mcdermott Oneil.
Lets look at some one with fresh ideas drive and determination to make this succeed we will not be short of candidates.
Got to be Poyet for me!

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

He hasn't really proven he can manage successfully for more than half a season at Championship level. He went up with Hudds with someone else's team and slumped after Christmas the same way he did with Leeds. Been there, done that - let's move on.

Alf

Agree0 Disagree0

Might be more attacking and more exciting but he never did sort our leaky defence. I think we need a manger who can give us the whole package.

McD for me as he is more obtainable than Poyet

If Hughes gets the job, then GFH will hjave lost the plot and Coiln will have had the last laugh.

Hughes has no experience of getting out of the Championship, no experience other that failing when backed up with Chairmens cash, something not likely to happen at Our fine club for a while

Agree0 Disagree0

Its estimated it would cost Leeds 2.5 million to get him, that money better spent on players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Was sad to see Grayson go, but feel we have to move on. Would love Poyet but more realistically McD

Agree0 Disagree0

Why? he's doing well at PNE, I can't imagine he would want to

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2013 08:34:34
Hughes now the favourite. Won't be renewing my season ticket if that happens. Go right ahead GFH if you think losing fans who have been going for over 40 years is a good thing.

Believable13 Unbelievable53

Did you renew your season ticket when we signed strachan

Agree1 Disagree0

Renew your ST mate there's more chance of me getting the job. Trevo

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't stand a chance at Elland Road.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just which bookie has him as favourite all the ones I've looked have him about 14s

Agree0 Disagree0

McDermott is the favourite with the bookies, followed by Poyet, O'Neill & Coyle Hughes is out at 12s

Agree0 Disagree0

It's surprising how many 'loyal supporters' of 40 years find the club a man played for previously more important than the team they claim to support.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last post, do me a favour mate he epitomises everything Leeds fans despise about s**m

Agree0 Disagree0

Fan of over 40 years and I couldn't care less who someone played for, managed or supported so long as we get a manager who is experienced and still young enough to remember success and stick around for the long haul. If that's Hughes then let's get behind him and leave the old school mentality behind. I've enjoyed watching some ex Man U players at Leeds. The likes of strachan and giles and would welcome more. let's face it we are hardly a force these days. So get real or stay away. Please don't come to games just to shout abuse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a chance

Agree0 Disagree0

If Mark Hughes comes anywhere near this club I'm finished with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the ''fan of over 40 years'' how can you say ''So get real or stay away'', we are all entitled to our opinion and if this differs from yours it doesn't mean your right and ER belongs to you and you alone, I too am a fan of over 40 years and as far as i'm concerned its a Yorkshire / Lancashire thing, a Leeds / Man U thing, a red / white thing and just because we are not ''a force these days'' doesn't mean we lay down and die, show some passion man, WE ARE LEEDS.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are indeed entitled to your opinion, what he's saying is that he doesn't want you airing it at matches. We've had a negative enough atmosphere at ER for the last few years with the Bates chants, and more recently the Warnock ones. I think maybe what he's trying to say is that its about time that our supporters did what they're supposed to - support.

If someone as successful a player as Mark Hughes, with as much experience as he has comes to Leeds, and takes us forward with a long term strategy, why does it matter that he played for Man U?

Show passion, sure, but in a positive way - behind the team, not against it. There's no point in rivalries with other clubs if we don't even have parity amongst the fans!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not meant to offend. Apologies but let's ALL get behind the team and manager for once. I'm passionate as the next person and it doesn't help living between liverpool and Manchester! You are right about me not owning elland road. I wish I did as I'd reduce prices, free to kids and get the place buzzing again. If only I had a few million spare!

Agree0 Disagree0

''If someone as successful a player as Mark Hughes''
Without getting into a catfight over this can you tell me what Mark Hughes has done as a manager, my feelings run deep as far as the wrong side of the pennines and I have never once aimed any abuse at Bates, Warnock or any player that pulls on that white shirt, my god you'll be expecting Fergie to babysit my grandkids next.
