dont now how true it is but heard that tom rickets has sold his shares in derby and its hime who is investing in leeds

Believable7 Unbelievable26

Tom Ricketts has been at Derby since 2008 with a number of other investors. What worries me is that Derby have not set the transfer market ablaze in that time so what makes us think Ricketts would plough money into Leeds for transfers. if it is Ricketts we need to lower our expectations when it comes to transfer funds as I do not think he would view Leeds as anything else other than an investment - just like Ken.

Heard from two completely independent sources (one today and one about two weeks ago) about interest in Sheffield United right back Matthew Lowton. One source said he was shown the Leeds facilities two or three weeks ago, but as of yet it is unclear if he has made a decision (but the second mention of his name yesterday from a completely different source implied it may still be on the cards).

Believable6 Unbelievable17

Matty Lowton used to live on my street he was at Leeds from a very young age & got released because they said he was to small(not the case now).I was having a pint with his dad whilst watching the England game on Saturday,he IS leaving Sheff. Utd. but he would not let on to me where he is going.

bolton to move for andy lonergan. owen coyle has been a long time admirer of lonergan since his days of managing burnley. source the people newspaper. this explains the interest in paddy kenny. but why wasn't lonergan transfer listed if warnock was gonna bring in kenny and let lonergan go

Believable21 Unbelievable5

Because its 7 subs again this season so we can have another keeper on the bench. (ie Lonergan)

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see alex mccarthy back, he wanted to play for leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Ide rather have cairns sat on the benh unless he can be sent out on loan as a first team player somewhere

Am I the only one thinking that Warnock has been involved in the takeover from Day One? Or rather, that the appointment of Warnock was part of the takeover process? Consider this: Any multi-million pound company buy-out takes place not over weeks, but over months – particularly in a complex case such as a potential takeover of LUFC where whose ownership, assets and facilities –not to mention finances - are buried amongst a myriad of offshore trusts, property developers and the like.
Anyone purchasing LUFC – or in any way involved in a transaction with Bates – would have had a team of lawyers, accountants and auditors crawling over LUFC’s books for a long, long time.
If then the Yanks have indeed been at an advanced stage of negotiations since say Christmas – assuming early negotiations were taking place long before then – they would undoubtedly have been all too aware – or at the very least been aware of the feeling amongst the fans – that the squad was simply nowhere near good enough to achieve promotion this season.
Now if I was that big foreign investor, I’d have waited until the window had closed – no point bringing in a new manager inside the window as the takeover was nowhere near completion but Bates won’t spend on transfers due to the likely impending sale and I wouldn’t spend just in case it all goes tits up - and bring in a new manager who, on paper at least, looks like the most likely candidate to get a team promoted, if given financial backing in the summer.
Now who could such a candidate be? How about the guy who shares the record for promotions and has said he wants one more job of only one season so he can achieve the record outright? If I was a foreign investor looking to take over a club in the second tier with aspirations of an instant rise, there would be only one name on my lips – and I’m sure the lips of my advisors. The man with a probably the best track record in the lower leagues of English football who is currently available - Warnock!
I might then just force the hand of the current ownership to sack the current management and get in the person I want as early as possible, giving him time to assess the current squad and ruthlessly cut loose those not deemed up to the task of achieving promotion the following season.
I might not even mind too much when he spends the entire remainder of the season not man-managing, not addressing defensive shortcomings, not looking to improve the individual players we have, but instead simply slaughtering the current squad time and again.
Didn’t Warnock’s three months in charge strike anyone else as the least like traditional football management they had ever seen? Whatever happened to an arm around the shoulder or "if we all pull together"? There was none of it. The only two players who appear to have done OK from Warnock’s point of view were Snoddy – “He knows what I think of him, etc” and Lees – but even Lees seemed to get a boot in the ribs along with every pinch of praise “individual errors, he needs to learn, but could be a decent player”. Everyone else, it seemed to me at least, was deemed not up to the job, and Warnock basically said as much during every post-match interview. Team morale amongst the current squad was clearly never high on Warnock’s agenda, presumably because he knew 90 percent of them wouldn’t be there come August and he wasted little time in letting them know it.
Apart from his bizarre approach to squad management, was I the only one who felt that Warnock was the most unlikely appointment Bates could possibly have made? I say this because:
Warnock – whatever people may think about him – is a high profile manager in his own right. High profile managers do not come cheap and I imagine Warnock is on considerably more than Grayson was earning. When did Bates ever pay anything more than he absolutely needed?
Similarly, Warnock’s arrival came with promises of summer investment. LUFC fans know only too well that Bates simply does not do investment in the playing squad – not this summer, not last summer, not any summer. So why would Warnock have believed it was likely this time? Why did he believe that he would have been given the financial backing that no other manager in Bates’ reign has received? Warnock is far too wily an operator and has been around English football for far too long to simply have taken Bates at his word.
Similarly, why did Bates sack Grayson when he did? If it was for the good of the club then obviously he would have appointed a new manager before not after the window closed, even if he’d then only give him a few hundred thousand to spend.
And again, why no complaint from Warnock when the promised early spending – Pearce aside – failed to materialise? Presumably whatever the story around his appointment, Warnock was aware of an impending takeover by May, but it seems most unlikely that Bates – yes even Bates – would have appointed him in February without mentioning a takeover was looming.
From where I'm sitting the appointment of Warnock was never down to Grayson's failings or Bates' vision for the club.
Maybe it is just me, maybe I should peel the tinfoil off my windows and maybe I should just let these events happen instead of reading things into every word and utterance that emanates from Elland Road, but if anyone asks me, I'll stick by my guns: Warnock’s appointment was approved – or rather ordered - not in Monaco or St Tropez, but in Chicago or wherever else these damn Yankees have been hiding.

Believable46 Unbelievable11

Warnock also loves Becchio....and rightly so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Top piece of writing and thinking! Every part makes sense when read as a whole and echoes some thoughts that were in my mind when Warnock took the job. The can of worms that is LUFC never fails to mystify and tantalise in equal measures, but I reckon this is as near to the truth as we are ever going to get.

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock has said from day one that Bates is working hard to get him the investment he needs!! When you consider the number of times he has said that it makes you wonder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow insitefull post but surely if talks was on going they would have appointed warnock when grayson was sacked

Agree0 Disagree0

Not necessarily as i believe Warnock was still negotiating his payoff from QPR at that point.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has been on holiday for the past 2 weeks and said that players would start coming in at the start of june, the pearce deal i think was already waiting to be done as soon as the window opened and that was before they went. june should be exciting though
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

NW is certainly no mug. He knows KB pretty well and would not have taken the Leeds job on the basis of what KB has done or could do for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you sure you're not acting for some Americans.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is very plausible that Warnock may form part of the investment/takeover deal, just think the original poster has over analysed it and it's not quite as cOmplicared as they have written

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post :) maybe a little too "24" but knowing uncle Ken has we do it .........could well be spot on !
Tonyone :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good post, but if this is all true, wouldn't snoddy have been put in the loop and signed his contract by now or is he waiting for this to be confirmed!

Agree0 Disagree0

This just has to be the best thoughtout post I have read on this, and many other sites for a long, long time ... all of it is logical and could, of course, be perfectly true. Is your name Neil W ... or perhaps Poirot?

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good post, it nice to read some sense fro one, i have now idea who you are, but it sound like to know a lot more than what your saying .. i hope you have had a good holiday Neil !

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the gist of this post.

I thought it was odd last November when the wheels started coming off that Bates said we "must" get up this season. I think he wanted to get promoted by now and sell. When this became unlikely, he appointed Warnock who he has known for a long time, with brief to firstly analyse the strength of the squad.

When Warnock advised that major surgery was required, Bates started the selling process.

To echo another poster, Warnock has consistently said that things will be different next season.

I do not know, but I will be amazed if we do bot hear something in the next fortnight. Warnock returns from holiday I believe at the end of this week, a few days after an announcement will be made

Agree0 Disagree0

Very feasible suggestions, and the most sensible post I've seen here for some time. As usual, only time will tell, but this is certainly grounded in rational thinking, unlike most of the other comments made on this site, and for that I commend you.

Agree0 Disagree0

ORIGINAL POSTER....Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Just a few thoughts that had been brewing since the Grayson sacking and the Redders fiasco.

@steveads1970

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, quite a post, and very plausible. My only fear is that there may be nothing in the takeover or investment rumours. But a well reasoned argument, how great to see on here.

Applauded piece of writing and the most appreciated article been posted for a while makes lots of sense just makes you wonder spot on.....

Agree0 Disagree0

The proof will be if take over goes thru to back this up. if not then the theory not quite rite. good thoughts tho but i think personally far fetched in my opinion. Good read!

Leeds, bristol city and huddersfield all intrested in signing brighton full back inigo calderon source sky sport!

Believable22 Unbelievable7

There is no way in hell that Calde will leave Brighton as he loves the club and the city. And anyway, why would he want to go to Leeds, huddersfield or Bristol?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmmmmmm we seam to be linked with every right back in the ountry at moment lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You got to love sly sports news. Any championship transfer news always seems to involve Leeds somehow.

They always seem to report that either Leeds, Middlesbrough, or Ipswich are interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it were true, obvious why he would want to go to leeds, massive club, the others small as brighton

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha he won't care about your past, because it I in the PAST! current players care about NOW! and the sad fact is that now, Brighton are much more attractive! Better manager, owner, stadium and players who don't jump ship at the earliest opportunity! Brighton are now better than you!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jog on m8 brighton are rubbish will struggle to stay up next season. {Ed013's Note - If Poyet stays they will be fine}

Leeds United are interested in signing Liam Lawrence and Ryo Miyaichi on a full season loan.

Believable14 Unbelievable25

Miyachi on loan would be special, he is the joint fastest player in the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

The same ryo myachi who is a free agent? didn't know you could loan out of contract players. check your rumours are believable before posting your balderdash.

Agree0 Disagree0

URM , he signed for arsenal in 2010 on a 5 year contract, so yeah..... I guess a different Miyachi than the one you're talking about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock does not do loans, especially if he has cash from a Chicago sugar daddy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a free agent ,get ur facts right before posting ur balderdash

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies, i was thinking of tchoyi from west brom. i apologies for my error, but theres still no way he'd come to leeds. once again i am sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2012 01:19:17
Do you mean the same Ryo Miyaichi who is tied down at Arsenal till 2015.

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/ryo-miyaichi-to-celtic/topic/ansicht_180_1255_seite1.html

Check your facts are believable before posting your corrections.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why wouldn't Miyaichi join us on loan. Just because he has a long contract. It is only on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

True he needs all the experience he can get. he would also be a first team regular. {Ed037's Note - Went to Bolton last season and excelled for them, i'm sure Wenger would be more than happy to loan him out again as long as he's getting playing time}

Jack Hunt, a young right back who plays for Huddersfield is, according to my source, going to be Warnock's first signing after takeover. He is a big Leeds fan do would love to sign. Only a rumour though.

Believable6 Unbelievable23

After just signing a new contract I don't think so

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny he's just signed again for the yapping dogs

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt has only just signed a new contract with Huddersfield can't see it happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

Contracts mean diddly these days, if he gets the chance to play for a bigger club he will

Agree0 Disagree0

He will obviously want to play for a club who matches his ambition and has the potential to achieve promotion and not be involved in a relegation battle. A need for a forward thinking modern manager, a chairman with plenty of cash and a loyal fan base will rule out Leeds and keep him at Huddersfield

IF Paddy Kenny is already signed up/on the verge as rumours suggest, what does this say about Lonergan!? I think we all know Warnock only likes to have 1 keeper in his squad, however with the football league ruling for 7 substitutes from next season onwards again will there be a seat on the bench he can warm up? RyanMOT

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Kenney is just a rumour he still contracted for 12 monsth to qpr ans a transfer fee will have needed to be paid ans also registration sent to fa so thats just a rumour warnock is on holls

Agree0 Disagree0

My dad played golf with kenny earlier and he said hes joining in a few days

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock stated last week that the return of 7 subs next season will allow him to have a sub keeper, it was also rumoured today that QPR will let Kenny go cheap as they look for a new keeper. It was also rumoured today that Bolton are after Lonergan to replace Jaaskeleinan.

Leeds united will not be signing any1 at this min in time not sure how long 4 with bates stating that players will be goin in or out of leeds part from transfer listed players so does that mean that we are close to a takeover or could it be that we not getting bought out

According to the Hartlepool Mail, we're interested in Matt Kilgallon, would be a good addition. However, my personal opinion is that no signings(cash up front) will be made untill after the takeover/investment

Believable15 Unbelievable5

03 Jun 2012 14:17:30
I think Keith Andrews and Danny Guthrie would be realistic signing and they are both FREE! These two in cenral midfield in the championship would be class. Also I dont think the peltier rumours are true because during a supposed takeover we wont be spending money, I think we would still be able to sign free agents though. Just my oppinion so don't go mad

Gyw

Believable17 Unbelievable7

Did we not try to sign andrewsa while back maybe on loan last January but he went to ipswiich instead or was that a load of tosh ! But agree theses two would spank most cent mids in championship and maybe a few in prem too come on let's get this takeover sorted we want to be fed some decent gossip for our team GOD knows we need it MOT TO GLORY AND PREMIER

Agree0 Disagree0

Andrews was on loan at Ipswich until January. At which point he returned to Blackburn and was subsequently loaned out to WBA. We tried to get him in January but he opted for WBA, which is understandable as they are in the prem. His contract has expired so he is now available on a free transfer.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted this elsewhere but I will post it here as well. I hung around with keith andrews when he was 16/17. He was a big man utd fan and detested leeds, this is the reason he would not sign for us end of story(so please dont go on twitter asking him to sign for us). He was an absolute pleb tbh, I still remember that christmas him and his mate ger doyle singing that east 17 song "stay" what a couple of nobbers lol. Ah the stories I could tell you about that lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andrews is supposable on neil lennons radar at Celtic championship football or champions league i think if celtic offer a contract thats were he will go

I know Ledley King is a sicknote, but woundering how much he'd want. Spurs said take him back if op went ok. Would be great to have, and kids would learn loads, just cant he play enough to cover wages, which prob way out our price range anyway

Believable10 Unbelievable22

If we were still in lig one... i still wouldnt want him!

Agree0 Disagree0

He said he wants to only play for spurs and if he can't he'll stay at spurs in some other capacity

I am a business, who frequently travels to Shanghai. Anyway rumours on the streets has it that Nicolas Anelka is on his way back to an english championship side, after not being settled i Shanghai {Ed013's Note - your point being?}

Believable6 Unbelievable30

The word is he has fallen out with his Chinese club - if he is going to the Championship I'd say he's going back to Bolton but def not Leeds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't you go bother the Bolton rumour page

Agree0 Disagree0

Struth. no wonder we're in recession.
With this calibre of businessman.

Agree0 Disagree0

JK - suggest you or whoever posted this rubbish on the Leeds site needs to bother someone else. Wesy ham are being linked with Anelka on Sly and as an ex Bolton player hes more likely to go back there than to another championship club.

UPDATE; DAN SNYDER is the Owner of WASHINGTON REDSKINS american football team. Been searching for EPL purchase
since 2007 and was intersted in SPURS. One of the fans forums extremeskins commented that SNYDER had purchased team on 29th May. He's listed as one of the worst bosses in NFL history and has probably dabbled in buying players rather than business. Had $450m set aside for EPL purchase and perhaps see's Leeds as worth a punt. I'd like to see more reference to the deal but it looks like a credible deal.

Believable3 Unbelievable30

Don't you think we have had enough of bad bosses what do you think Bates is. MOT trevo

Agree0 Disagree0

This rumour beeb around 2 or 3 years now it was on a redskins forum site 2 years ago

rumour has it bates is selling shares in are club, not because he wants to, to get us up. The reason is he's lost alot of money through other investments, all these are not tied to lufc.
I feel this is the reason all are top players have been sold. This way he can prop up his other adventures, without having to plow his savings in. Lets hope its a buy out and not just investment.
source; Family member works for bank that has delt with one or two of these adventures. No names. sorry
