whats everyones opinion on lonergan. im 50/50 on him. good shot stopper but horrible at crosses.

Believable= for him to be no1 nxt year on
unbelievable=someone else

Believable18 Unbelievable21

Im 50/50 with him too. i dont think its a priority as he is a decent keeper. buy rest of the team and if money left over, buy a better keeper i say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same as kasper and kasper- good shot stoppers no good on crosses

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good keeper at this level.with a good defence in front of him he wil be sound.hes been good for leeds all season and as recieved stick from some stupid minority recently.at this level we arent going to get anybody better.with a good defence he wouldnt look out of place in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lonergan has to be one of the worst Leeds keeperes in the past 10 years! i agree he can be a good shot stopper but when it comes to commanding his area and distributing the ball quickly and efficiently he is dreadful. Also his positioning is all over the place! He comes off his line too early and is the president of 'no mans land'. Leeds should never have got rid of Kasper, look at the success hes had at Leicester, won two in-club awards this year.

A keeper is only as good as his defence and seems as though his defence has been dreadful for the past two seasons, at preston and leeds i suppose he hasnt really stood a chance. I hope he does well next season with a solid defence in front of him... doubt it though.

Rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

I think kicking is his down side but top draw shot stopper and dont think it helps with bad defence in front. j see him being a real catch next season, mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like some strong competition for him next season. We could do a lot worse the Kusack on a free, although i'd like to see Alex McCarthy return on a perm deal. Cant see Reading lettting him go though.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will not be leeds' number 1 next season
either kenny,kusack or westwood

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think we have seen the best of Loners yet. He doesnt become a poor keeper overnight, i think with a good solid defence in front of him his confidence will get better and therefore he will get better.

As for the crossess, there doesnt seen to be many keepers who fly out for crosses now and to be fair its the centre halfs job to head it away in the first place

MOT to the promised land!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will retain his position come the start of the season.

Warnock doesn't put a substitute GK on the bench and I can't see Lonergan in the reserves.

I personally think replacing a no1 keeper is the hardest position to cover, and I think we need an experience GK in net this season.

I'd rather stick with Lonergan this season, as buying a keeper is always 50/50. Not making the comparison but even David De Gea showed problems at Man U.

Once you find a keeper, sometimes it's best to keep them in the net, as not many teams swap and change every year.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just have a sneaking suspicion that Robbo will end his career here but not sure if that is next season. Dont think you can say Lonergan is the worst keeper for 10 years because to me all keepers are the same these days and stay inside their 6 yard box and stop shots, none command their area. The last keeper in my opinion which was all round was Martyn. If you put a good defence in front of a shot stopper the keeper will look world class, you just need to get defenders that can do the basics and forget playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree that our last good all rounder was martyn, a new goalkeeper is not the priority a new defence and new midfielder are the priorities. Having said that i think Lonners has been strictly average, and if there is the money when the rest of the squad has been bought then fine. Anyone but Paddy Kenny

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not lonergans biggest fan, I would like to see Kieron Westwood, 3rd choice now at Sunderland, he's a top keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love kuschack (spelling :/), westwood or in my opinion our best keeper this year Alex McCarthy, even though he is prone to mistakes

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on lets be honest, shot stopping is ok, he's wrist are weak which means a lot of the shots he gets to go in anyway, useless at crosses, bad postioning, bad decisions and quite often looks like a outfielder being stuck in goal. seen him a few times and he is unothox in a bad way. I thought the hunter was bad (ankergran) but thing longers may even top him as worse established number 1. Kushack and westwood would be good choices and i think we would be in with a shout of getting them. needs a keeper they make all the difference

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex Mcarthy for me. Best keeper I have seen at Leeds for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done Warnock!
Pearce is an excellent start and is exactly the reason most Leeds fans couldn't wait for the end of the season to see players worthy of wearing the Leeds shirt been drafted in and dead wood been shipped out.
If SG would have acted in the way NW has about the current squad and brought in the quality like Pearce, he would probably still be here.

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Yeah your right grayson only brought in clayton, mccormack, kisnorbo, gradel to replace his quality players that he was forced to sell

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 20:48:15
Clingan has turned down Coventry offer.
I know some of you don't like him but i wouldn't be suprised to see him and/or Paul Green wearing our shirt pretty soon.

Believable18 Unbelievable8

My mate who's a Derby fan told me Green has been after £23,000 a week at Derby and he's cr*p!

Agree0 Disagree0

I know Green - He's not asking for anything like that. but not commiting to anyone yet until he's talked to family

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find there is a £20,000 wage cap next year(fact). So I think your very wrong my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 20:35:26
Leeds will wrap up the signings of El Hadj Diouf and Nathaniel Clyne in the next 2-3 weeks. Talks with Diouf have stalled due to wage demands. Diouf is asking for 9K a week however the club are only offering 7K and bonuses for appearances and promotion

Believable13 Unbelievable21

I think you'll find 9k would be fine. I suspect he's asking for more than that

Agree0 Disagree0

The same clyne that Manchester united are tryna' sign?

Agree0 Disagree0

He said his first name, of course its the same clyne you numb skull

Agree0 Disagree0

Then i reckon he's blowing bubbles out is star fish. try keeping it real lads. its one thing wishing pipe dreams its another sucking on a crack pipe. mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

No way is Clyne coming to ER.

He's pre bound if he ever leaves Palace.

Agree0 Disagree0

So your going to make 12 new signings when youve got not money to spend leeds fans are so deluded its unreal

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit optomistic with bamba and ambrose even though he would not be that great cos his fitness is always questioned

Agree0 Disagree0

Who ever said there was no money Bates has the money he just hasnt given us much before

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you put mc cormack on the bench he's top goal scorer

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
goin on what warnock said is that ross will have a super sub role next year. like adam le fondre for reading.

Hows about Papac of rangers? 32 yr old full back vastly experienced used to big crowds/pressure free this summer. Anyone think he'd do a job for us

Also the wife is calming down now after me dropping her at delivery suite (maternity) 9am last Saturday while I went to the match, don't know what she moaning at I was back an hour b4 he came and I had to get his first kit lol

Chorley White

Believable18 Unbelievable9

Posted this a few days ano mate. Whispers were up in Glasgow about it but haven't heard anything else but would be a decent signing.

DOB

Agree0 Disagree0

I just read on sky sports apP he was leaving ranger so thought I'd put it out there, can't be on big cash there now anyhow. Can't see the beckford mills swap happening either just wishful thinking but would be nice

Chorley White

Shame on you chorley white! Wink!
Papac may be a good aquasition I agree.

On SSN now, Warnock worried that White, McCormack, Snoddy not going to sign, all been offered improved contracts but he is worried at their reluctance to sign. Very worrying.

Believable16 Unbelievable9

That is rubbish as rosco has not been offer new contract yet.talks to start on Monday fact

Agree0 Disagree0

There was something in the Mirror this morning about Ross turning down a new deal.

No one is bigger that the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

You carnt believe the date in the paper thats why its known as the lesser paper 4 those who are feeling the pinch and carn't stump up 4 the post. mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

If it"s in the Mirror i wouldn"t lose to much sleep about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's the same Daily Mirror that allowed Emlyn Hughes to write a story a few years ago about The Revie team being the dirtiest team ever to play football, then i really wouldn't pay much attention to it also you should stop calling yourself Leeds United fans if you're reading such papers that allow articles like Emlyn Hughes's to be written

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face it if they were going to sign they would have by now i say get rid of them for as much as possible and re invest it in players who wanna play for us MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 19:08:49
Leeds are going to offer a contract to Clyne (of Crystal Palace).

Believable19 Unbelievable11

Would be awesome but can't see it happening, prem clubs want him

Agree0 Disagree0

Prem clubs wanted Schmeichel as well. Nobody expected him to sign for us. WATCH THIS SPACE

Agree0 Disagree0

What about this for a starting XI next season:

GK: LONERGAN
RB: CLYNE
LB: BERTRAND (possibly)
CB: PEARCE
CB: MILLS
RW: SNODGRASS
LW: KIGHTLY (out of contract at Wolves)
CM: not a clue
CM: not a clue
ST: MCCORMACK
ST: BECCHIO

Agree0 Disagree0

When Manchester United was supposedly chasing him, it was rumoured to be £2m compensation I think.

If it was true I can't see Leeds stumping up that kind of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 18:35:06
Fantastic signing in Pearce, him and some like Mills will be a fantastic CB partnership (probably the best in the Championship), and will give Lees some more experience (i can see him been a great CB). Any ideas on who we'll be getting at RB/LB though? As i think it's almost certain that White will be leaving. I was thinking maybe Lichaj if Villa go down?

Believable13 Unbelievable8

04 May 2012 18:17:00
My Realistic Leeds Team for next season
GK-PAUL ROBINSON (STILL A CLASS KEEPER)
LB-MARVEL WYNNE (LIGHTENING QUICK)
CB- JASON PEARCE (SOLID AND YOUNG)
CB- MATT MILLS (HAD ARGUMENT WITH PEARSON)
RB- GREG HALFORD (POMPEY NEED THE MONEY)
ML- MAX GRADEL (HEARD HES NOT ENJOYING LIFE IN FRANCE)
MC- CLAYTON (DOUBTFUL)
MC- GRANT LEADBITTER (OUT OF CONTRACT)
MR- SNODGRASS (I WOULD ACCEPT AND OFFER OVER 5M)
ST- BECKFORD (GOALSCORER)
ST- MCCORMACK (GOALSCORER)

Believable11 Unbelievable23

You've been playing too much fifa mate. He is very aggressive (just what we like to see), but makes too many errors. Also, i doubt he'd want to come to England

Agree0 Disagree0

First halford isnt a right back. Youve probably only seen Wynne on fifa and hes a CB not RB

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock wont have beckford, he wants players that he know will do the job every game, he disapears in games, we all know he often will pop up with a goal but we can afford that luxury speand the money on quality defence and mid field additions. as long as we are solid at the back the goals will come. Also i cant see us playing a 4-4-2 NW will want to be more attacking 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 i remember him saying he likes it when the front 4 can all interchange id love to see what he comes up with if he goes down that line

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 18:15:50
I think this Clayton swap is highly unlikely, for me one player and a million quid will not cover a 5 million pound rated CB and a high earning striker, will be ecstatic if it happened and can't wait to see who else walks through the doors at elland road MOT!!

Believable15 Unbelievable4

04 May 2012 17:56:36
in all honesty im just glad there's been an over haul at leeds can only be an exciting time for us all and i have every faith in NW in whatever he does the man has balls you have to hand it to em shipping off half the leeds team he seen what SG didnt see or have the balls to do everyone seems upset bout the possibility of diouf coming that wouldn't bother me the man is talented rather have him with us than against us clayton goin maybe putting him on the tranfer list might give em the kick in the ass he needs no point giving half a season need players who give 100% every game no matter what and be hard to beat week in week out every rumour now even feels like a breath of fresh even though half the rumours are carp we have a team to fill and elland road to fill also(hopefully) roll on next season good 1st signin by the way no need to give details as you all must know by now been said enough! lol MOT irish leeds fan!

has jermain beckford actually been transfer listed ed??? {Ed020's Note - he sure has yeah}

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Is there any source for this as I can't see it anywhere?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 15:47:46
I know this has been mentioned already, but I live in Leicester and a few of my mates who are City fans have heard we are trying to get Mills and Beckford from them in exchange for Clayton and £1m. I wouldn't have thought they'd let both go for so little but never say never!
Also very happy with the Pearce signing, onwards and upwards! M.O.T.

Believable13 Unbelievable33

Ed- why do you allow such obviously wrong posts? {Ed020's Note - its a rumour site, who am i to deny this unrealistic rumour. and this is not that bad compared to the majority i work through}

what about greg halford?

Believable29 Unbelievable9

He's lightweight and doesn't fit the type of player warnock wants. Six clubs in six years tells it's own story

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see him at Elland rd next season too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player, can launch a few balls into the box from throw ins, the championship rory delap, would personally LOVE to see him at elland road next season

Ive heard Charlton are lookin at Lloyd Sam and Ramon Nunez, and swindon are looking at Billy Paynter.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Good news, get some funds for these players and get them off the wage bill would be fantastic

Agree0 Disagree0

Give them barn door and some £££'s for BWP!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe we are letting the prolific scorer B.Paynter leave. Are R.Madrid or Barcelona interested?
The club shows no ambition if we let this player leave for less than a fiver.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 13:13:25
Welcome to leeds united jason pearce and us as fans are looking forward to seeing you put the white shirt on and giving your all for the club?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

04 May 2012 13:05:36
At last!.....just what all Leeds fans have been waiting for. We've just signed a young, very promising player on a long term contract and paid the money upfront! Jason Pearce is just what we need and hopefully the first of many. I just hope it's a sign that Warnock has told Bates exactly what he needs and that Bates is prepared to back him.
Following on from the cull on Wednesday, I can't remember being this optomistic and excited for years.
Roll on next season!

Believable27 Unbelievable8

Maybe Bates has stabilised the club now which will allow longer better contracts for players? I get the impression from the lack of complaints that Bates has always backed his managers and given them a figure that they have to work to with it being up to them whether they went for loan deals with big wages or try and sign someone. With loans you might get better quality but dont own them and the majority dont care what happens whereas a signing might not have the same quality but cares. Personally I think they both end up pretty similar in terms of output. Would now be happy if we raided Leicester a few times ie Mills , Beckford and Bamba. Beckford could replace Ross who no doubt will reject the contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

I have seen this fella play top draw solid composed good feet, a talker everything in the locker. Also to add to the rest of comments flying about the players being released are dire apart from clayton, if what I have heard is true and we are getting ambrose I don't care let him go

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 11:38:47
Ed Whats happening with Bromby and Kisnorbo ? Is there something in there contract that will say they can't be released if injured ? {Ed020's Note - i can't imagine there is something in the contract that stipulates they can't be released if injured, but the majority/ if not the whole of there wages will be covered by the players insurance.}

Believable14 Unbelievable2

I thought we only gave Paddy another year last year so am suprised he isnt going as think he is well past his best. Bromby has a few years left in him yet and NW likes the fact he can play in goal as well as along the back and in midfield if needed so a good player for the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

I f you release the player you have to pay thier wages off and also it doesn't paint a good picture for the club just releasing players who are longterm injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

NW said he will need to have a look at Kisnorbo pre season. Bromby was in his plans as a squad player as he can play any position across the back & in goal. NW currently looking for a defensive utility player.

pearce completes deal to leeds united, hopefully the start of many to come. MOT

Believable28 Unbelievable7

04 May 2012 12:13:22
Jason pearce done deal! A football journalist on Twitter also said were trying to get Luke varney from Portsmouth too

Believable31 Unbelievable7

I heard that about Varney a while ago, sounds promising.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is some truth in this but he is from Leicester so Luke will be looking for midlands club. But the boss does like him so it maybe that he will want to talk to him

Agree0 Disagree0

I read something in the Mirror about Varney today. It also claimed that Ross Mc Cormack has turned-down new deal. Anyone know about that?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 12:04:31
Doncaster are interested in ramon nunez! Another one of the wage bill if this goes through! Delighted with the pearce signing!

Believable26 Unbelievable1

Scunthorpe were impressed with Nunez when he was on loan. I don't think he will have a problem in finding a club

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Nunez was a poor mans Gradel and everyone wanted him to be a replacement so badly that he was never judged properly. He is a very average player who was too greedy like Gradel , shooting rather than looking for a killer ball. He isnt big enough and needs to build himself up. That said he may go away and turn out to be a good player. I wish him well.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll no doubt be one of the former players you always see poopping up on the sky sports vidiprinter as a scorer. But tbf he's not good enough and we can bring in more quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 11:42:50
Leeds are in talks with Cardiff's Peter Whittingham and with Leicester's Jermaine Beckford. Also Neil Warnock will trade Clayton with Mills

Believable26 Unbelievable24

Where have u heard this? i would love it to be true but? .....

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be great if true but we are'nt that ambitous!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would just love the Beckford rumours to be true - Beckford and Becchio in league 1 were a potent strike force and despite an injury hit season I think Becchio is a more rounded player now that he's the focus upfront - so would be an even better pairing now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was never Beckfords biggest fan as thought he was too greedy and selfish but watching him last week he seems to have learned a lot from his time at Everton and seemed to be better at linking play up , had a better first touch and worked harder so would love him back. Clayton would be a good swap for either Mills or Bamba.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be a good striker you need to be greedy otherwise you would be always looking for the pass instead of shooting

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 11:03:09
Leeds have signed pearce. finally on os. Get in!!

Believable28 Unbelievable8

How awful is the new kit looks as bad on as it it does off

I don't mind it to be honest. I don't like the collar, but the rest of it is alright.

Poleon will make regular appearances coming off the bench this season.

Strong, Fast, Scores.

time to test him out on the wing.

Believable25 Unbelievable17

Warnock said in the YEP that none of the youngsters are ready for the first team yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Y test him on the wing when he is a striker? he will go on loan probably to a league 1 or 2 club. he will be no where near the first team this coming season

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with above and he will go on loan as should most of the youngsters, send them to the same place Lees went as they seemed to look after them well. It is going to be awkward for them to progress if there is no reserve football for them only under 21.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 10:34:36
Clayton plus between 500k and 1 million for Beckford and mills.

Leeds will also swoop for free agent pantsil who loves the league but dislikes Pearson.

kightly has been lined up as a potential replacement for Snodgrass.

Should Snodgrass go to Norwich, his preferred destination, whitbread will be coming this way.

Believable19 Unbelievable22

Would love this to be true pearce and mills and beckford and becchio 2 great pairngs then snodgrass and diouf on wings clean sheets and goals written all over it

Agree0 Disagree0

Whitbread chased by plenty of prem so wont come here. Clayton bit doesnt make sense either

Agree0 Disagree0

Chased by plenty of prem teams AND out of contract so he holds no value to Norwich in any deal

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard it's clayton in a swap deal with Crofts + a other coming to us,and no not hooligan or Holt

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell snodgrass and use the money to buy young and up coming players, the man wont sign contract so sell him

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 10:34:10
This Clayton + add ons rumours, with Beckford coming our way wouldn't suprise me. Anyone that says Bates will not do this/or that should wait. Warnock said if he didn't get what he wants when he had the interview with Bates, he'll walk.

Warnock's still here.
We've signed player number 1 according to everything but the official site.

hope.

Leeds are interested in the availability of Bolton striker Ivan Klasnic he is out of contract in the summer and his performances seem to be interesting warnock, he would have to take a pay cut to sign up for Leeds!

Believable13 Unbelievable24

04 May 2012 09:08:49
Leeds have agreed a swap deal with leicester for clayton plus 1 mil in return for beckford and mills

Believable19 Unbelievable22

Why would they give us 8 million pounds worth of players (Mills cost them 5 from Reading and Beckford 3 from Everton) for a guy who cost us £300k plus 1 million?

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't always get what you pay for. Those signings are the splashings of cash by Sven. Mills is good but isn't a £5 million defender and Beckford is hardly worth 3 mill. Plus we got a bargain with Clayton he's worth a hell of a lot more than the 2-300k we paid for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bang on, not to mention the wonder strike against Wimbledon!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2012 08:02:14
Rooney won the award for best ever goal in the prem..Anyone agree that YEBOAH'S v Liverpool was better.

Believable41 Unbelievable8

The one against wimbledon wasn`t bad either!!

Agree0 Disagree0

They were great goals, but to be honest Bergkamp's v Newcastle where he spun around the defender and slotted it home was a pure gem. I doubt there's ever been many players who could even think about doing that, let alone manage it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus di canios vs wimbledon aswel ? also... cisse vs chelski will be right up there now

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe a fluke off his shin won best goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Yeboahs goal v wimbledon was better than the Liverpool one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt le Tissiers goal(s) both better, a real footballer and one team player. Wish he'd had been a Leeds Supporter, still Cisse's for newcastle eclipsed Rooney's already

Agree0 Disagree0

I voted for tony, also his goal against wimbledon was class. new season new hope, in warnock we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

I voted Yeboahs vs Liverpool wouldve been Cisse's the other night though, sensational goal

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooneys was the weakest goal i think, because, yes it takes an incredible amount of skill and precision, but so did all the others. but he was the onlyone who didn't take the ball into the area as well, so the others required skill, precision and great movement on the ball.

Yeboah, Le Tissier and Shearer scored the best goals in that list.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with Le Tissier and Bergkamp; plus they scored outstanding goals on a number of occassions (as did Yeboah of course).

None will beat a certain Mr Gray's effort against Burnley...

Agree0 Disagree0

Pre-premiership - how about Denis Law's backheel for Man City in 1974 against some team in red?

what young strikers are coming through? we've had a few good midfielders and defenders come through the youth system over the past few years(howson, delph, white, lees, thompson),but no noteable strikers

Dominic Poleon will make an impact at some point this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently dominic poleon has been rated highly as a striker and regular goal scorer and was listed on warnocks 'seven' who he will try and bring into the senior squad from the academy, lets hope he's a prodigy!

Got first hand experience of this as my lad was at Leeds for last 3 yrs but now at Doncaster. He is a striker / Right Midfielder but despite having ability he was never developed or coached enough. Place is full of kids who shouldnt be there but are because of who they know or are ex-pros offspring or relatives which is ridiculous. He is flourishing at Donny and getting encouragement and one-one coaching.

None of the players you name have exactly gone on and set the world on fire as yet so in terms of strikers then you have Smith , Kewell , Keogh , Forrester , Whelan , Gray

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch out for Lewis Walters. I coached him from 5 years old and he is dynamite. Only 17 but if Warnock gives youth a chance he has goals in his boots

Agree0 Disagree0

4th poster - if you read it properly i said 'good' not 'set the world on fire'. and again, if you read it properly, i said over the past few years, not the past decade or 2
