One of the 3 trialists to play Farsley will be 22yr old Midfielder Ibrahim Maaroufi who came through Inter Milans acadamy. This was in the YEP(Yorkshire evening post) on thursday.

Believable14 Unbelievable7

At 22 he has played for (7) seven european clubs that either means he has a lot of experience or there is some baggage canĀ“t call this one. what do you think ed. {Ed001's Note - from what I have been told it is the latter.}

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Wiki (I know it's not reliable) he has only played 4 professional games... How can he be any better than what we have already got? Never know, could be a "hidden gem" as KB's would say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think your onto something here I know my source is wiki but still "he was released by Eupen, after making just 1 first team appearance and joint Leeds United on trial" this is on his wiki page

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read wiki pages too and i know there not the best source but the facts if true dont look good for him only 1 appearance for last side in belgium doesnt say much about him but in grayson we trust so will have to wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

I was in howards resturaunt with the missus aprox 3 months ago and bates, harvey and reps from italy, also an italian ex rangers player+ approx 5 germans all sat having a dinner, bates in his usual arrogant self got pi**ed and spouted the usual ..all our players are pill)cks garbage, but he did also tell us that he is forging links with a milan club academy...thought it was b0ll0x at the time..prehaps not

Agree0 Disagree0

Maaroufi has played less than 10 times in 5 years, sounds like another felipe da costa.

Leeds to sign Stephen Quinn by Wednesday

Believable11 Unbelievable13

I think Monty and Quinn need a restraining order against you. You mention them every day, and it's not going to happen.

No Bodor Deal - Trialist Bodor Will Not Get Offered A Contract At Elland Road.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

Good, he looked like Ian Harte, nice on the ball, slow, cant defend. Not what we need after last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw Boltizar Bodor at Newcastle, he won the ball, looked up and hit it as high as he could into the sky. On another occasion i hink it was him who put the ball on the roof. Talk about reaching for the sky, aiming for the stars more like. Didnt look good enough for Leeds. O'Dea will fill the left back void, Arce could be one to come in and add competition there and in midfield. Lichaj will come in and probably get in ahead of connolly.

simon grayson is preparing to make a 1.2 million pound bid for sheffield united midfielders montgomery and quinn would be great sighings if we get them

Why not trade some of our dead wood
bromby,paynter,grella,bessone

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the quoted figure, look at the paper name, then hang your head in shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quinn was there best player last season and would be a good aquisition, monty i happen to know for a fact from a golf course conversation with him last year that was 2 days before he went back and signed a new contract with sheff u - was 95% signed last seaon. stockdale was in headingly the other week (sunday)telling all that he was signing for leeds that afternoon before the deal was off -this was down to bates alledgedly

Adam Le Fondre from rotherham beleived to have agreed personal terms with leeds and should be revealed to the leeds fans in next 48 hours.... MOT

Believable20 Unbelievable11

The club have not agreed any deals with any player from Rotherham FC

Agree0 Disagree0

ED. Do you think we will sign a striker, Adam Le Fondre or anyone, don't fancy having to depend on Paynter or Grella for goals. {Ed001's Note - I expect a loan striker will be brought in from the Prem.}

leeds have exspressed intrest in julio arca would be a great sighning

Believable12 Unbelievable11

Would be a good signing but be on to mutch wages.

lets be honest, i dont think anyone really knows anything that goes on behind the scenes at elland road, pretty sure nobody saw the o'dea signing happening and if we do sing anyone else i wouldnt mind betting that is isnt one of the names being thrown around on a daily basis on here, the season starts tomorrow and i cant wait, lets back the boys weve got a great team and we're the best fans in the world, c'mon leeds MOT

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Well said, it's time to end the arguments and enjoy the season ahead

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said indeed, the fact that we have kept our best players and not spent stupidly is a great thing. Lets not punch above our weight and be realistic. Cmon on Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Good on you m8 well said all the best for the season MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sick of seeing so called Leeds fans saying we have 'missed' this person or that, at the end of last season it was apparent we needed to weed out one or two players which has happened, and needed to strengthen in certain areas, which again has basically happened. We also have many players coming back in after loans, or rising from through the ranks. We are LEEDS, shout it out loud

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got to hand it to SG, Bates offers him no help to sign quality players yet he still manages to bring talented players in that no one else seems to be looking at. Carry on doing a great job Grayson and lets hope no team with money (Leicester for instance) realise what a gem of a manager we've got and start wafting their cash in his direction. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what is happening at Leeds Unted FC, so watch what I suggest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never a truer word said. It's all about backing our boys now-all of them whether it's gradel and becchio or bessone and paynter. Fresh season fresh start

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep going really well.

Signing that centre half from Celtic reserves and playing him at LB worked a treat.

Paynter and McCormack - only need a sniff of a chance and the ball is in the net.

Connolly - how long can we keep him before Barcelona come knocking on the door?

Who needs more than two CMs in the squad when we have the likes of the evergreen Michael Brown?

"we've got a great team" absolutely. Just a pity Southampton must have a team like Brazil eh?

WE HAVE DONE NOTHING TO STRENGTHEN THE SIDE AFTER LAST YEAR.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2011 14:56:40
With the squad we have we dont need more midfielders. Snodgrass, Howson, Brown, Gradel and Nunez. with sam, clayton, mendy as back ups couldnt be better. Need strong rb to cover or compete with connoly and temporary striker someone like borini, he was class. McCormack if playing well will score goals. Trust in grayson he got us here. Trust the men in the White shirts and back them to the end Premirship here we come MOT

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Are you serious? We have TWO central midfielders in the squad in Clayton and Brown. And it's pretty darn long season. Either one gets injured, suspended or tired, we are absolutely fecked.

Howson is veeery good at what he does, as an auxialiry stiker, but he hasn't really shone in the CM role has he? Also he hasn't played there since past season. Get a grip. We need a CM/DM before the window shuts, BADLY.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mendy cannot play for us in the league because he is a trialist

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield is strong, its the rb/lb that needs sorting. parker panics too much and connely is slow.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd agree that both a RB and LB are needed.

SG agrees too - he showed no faith in Ben Parker's abilities and admitted that Bessonne didn't work out, plus he saw Lichaj as being ahead of Connolly. Unfortunately he hasn't been given the backing to get replacements (and wasn't given the backing last year to get better players than Bessonne and Connolly in the first place).

BUT I also think we are 2 central midfielders short and that's maybe more important a problem. Killa and Johnson have gone as have Bannan and Livermore. Hughesy and Faye went in January and neither of them were replaced despite SG saying he was going to do so. No backing again?

Clayton has shown he can play at League One level which probably means he is reliable enough as back up at least and maybe a first teamer but thats a gamble. Brown isn't getting any younger and missed half the games last season.

We've needed a solid defensive midfielder for over a year now. Last year Montgomery and Eustace told us to do one because we offered silly wages. we tried to plug the gap with an aged injury prone Faye and that didn't work out. Brown might be similar. So we tried to convert Johnson to a DM and it sort of worked but he and Killa found they could get proper wages elsewhere.

Definitely need a DM and centre midfielder of higher level championship quality, Clayton and Brown can then provide good back up and rotation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield is likely to be Brown and Clayton with Howson in the hole and Snodgrass and Gradel out on the wings. That leaves Nunez as cover for Howson and Sam as cover for the wing. If we sign Mendy he is also a winger, Where is the cover for CM? of course we need to sign another CM

We don't need to sign a striker as we have McCormack, Paynter (hopefully a last resort) Gradel, Snodgrass and Grella all capable of playing that role

Anyone know who the 3 trialists that are being looked at in a game against farsley 2 mora?Source is from leeds os. Hopefully theres a CM and a ST then were ready to mount a serious challenge for promotion MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Bates said there was a young french lad on trial the other day but said he hasnt had a pre-season, but said he could have real potential when hes fit dunno who he is like

Agree0 Disagree0

Did someone say that leeds were interested in carew, could he be one doubt it like WAGES big problem once again

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there is either 2 midfielders and 1 striker or 1 midfielder and 2 strikers, look at the lineup it shows that they arnt in the back four

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes either planning on signing mendy today, and be planning on using him in the southampton game, because hes not in the farsley squad and he would be if we were still having a look at him, and he wouldnt be named as a trialist because we all know him, in my opinion i really hope its james mcfadden, would be a cracking signing

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the Carew post was just wishful thinking after the BBC posted an article today on players available on frees that listed Carew and Parnaby (who was also mentioned in the same post)

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think Carew would need a trial,he would be class in the championship,it's the wages that would be a problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carew would not need a trial We can't afford his wages hence why whoever linked him with Leeds needs committing

Agree0 Disagree0

Carew talking to Big Sam at Wham. McFadden also would probably not want a trial, will most likely be a couple of young up and comers, or someone in the same vain as Becchio, Somma & Grella from abroad trying his luck...

3 new trialists in Farsley Celtic game tomorrow. Who could they be?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

05 Aug 2011 14:40:13
Mikael Forsell situation has developed, and he is set to feature in the Leeds XI @ Farsley on Saturday.

Believable8 Unbelievable9

Would like Forsell IF he is still able to play a season and be consistent. Didn't he have chronic knee problems etc and miss a lot of games. Plus the wages issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

If his injuries are behind him he'd be a decent replacement while Becchio is out.

I've been on here all morning looking at facts of different players and trying to gather info and bla bla bla. Seriously, we sign Monty, Lichaj and Mendy and we are in with a really strong chance imo.

Monty Brown
Howson
Snoddy Gradel
Nunez

And when Becs is back, seriously as an opposition manager would YOU want to try and defend against that? 2 strong defensive midfielders who will fight for everything, every last ball and cover the CB's with their lives. Snoddy and Gradel two of the best players in the league and this year mark my words Nunez is going to be a gem. People, believe it, we may not have signed loads of people and flashed loads of cash but look at that. We can go up this year, MOT.

Believable16 Unbelievable3

Couldnt agree more and even without becchio if mcormack gets into his element and starts scoring we a serious force. And nunez for player of season in my eyes MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said I completely agree I do like Nunez but I don't think that he will play much this year going by the friendlies I've been to - I think he is going to be used as a sub

WITH O'DEA,KISNORBO,LEES AND BRUCE AS RECOGNISED CENTRE BACKS LEIGH BROMBY WILL BE OFFLOADED TO SHEFF UTD PLUS £200K FOR MONTGOMERY.
FROM A GOOD SOURCE.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

Doubt he will cos he is cover at rb unless he gets another rb in

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be brillant if true bromby is useless and tom lees is our cover at right back so i dont expect lichaj to return alex bruce has also played at right back before also

Agree0 Disagree0

Think Bruce will be sold/transfered rather than Bromby

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting rid of bromby would be stupid. he came into the team last season as a back rb/cb and played his heart out. bruce out before bromby

Agree0 Disagree0

Lees natural position and the one he played in for bury was centre back not right back.

Does anyone know what hotel Leeds will be staying in down in Southampton?

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Nowhere in Southampton worth staying in, except for The Park....

... there's quite a few benches going spare there...lol

Why would Leeds want to stay in Southampton when there is an airport at Eastleigh around 10 mins drive from ST Mary's??

Agree0 Disagree0

Not staying at any hotel, the cost is too much, the players are travelling down early Saturday morning and returning Saturday night.

Matthew Upson has been released from WHam (free agent) heard rumours that sg is going for him

Believable3 Unbelievable14

Can't see that happening as he will attract Prem interest and expect Prem wages too. Has been linked linked with Wolves in the recent past.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably wants more than 50p a week so bates will be out

Agree0 Disagree0

Way too much wages and he's really over rated. Have you seen him for England (thank god no more) he's garbage and we'd have to sell all of Ken's gold stash to pay his wages, Ken will not have that

Now that Simon have address the LB problem,
what about cover for Connoly at RB. Stuart
Parnaby fits the role. Sign him up Simon.Heard
Monty n Quinn signing for Leeds. Rumours or true.
Monty's my choice to team up with Brown n
Howson. We do not need Quinn. Too many mid
fielders already. We need only RB and possibly a
loan striker. If the Monty story is not true then
possibly another CM. Simon has more or less a
strong squad if this issues are address before the
Southampton game. The question on everyone's
lips are,is O'Dea able to strenghten the LB
position and make it his or he is just only a average defender. Only time will tell. Good job Simon.
In Grayson we trust. Leeds on the way up to
the PREMIER LEAGUE.

People forget tom lees can play right back and personally hes better suited for it

The sports writers at the Sun must have the headlines waiting since we signed a defender called Oh Dear

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Ahah but it could also be "saves the O'Dea" seeing as it's pronounced O-DAY

Agree0 Disagree0

As a celtic fan said on here if he plays with confidence then he will be good I dnt care wat the papers say he took low wages and working under a dodgy chairman over other deals so Im behind him 100%

As an irish fan having watched O'Dea play for us in the last few international have to say best signing of the window so far. Very impreessed with him in a tricky away game in Macedonia with ? mark over him going into that game. he will push paddy and OB for a starts place.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Why celtic loan him all the time then, their defence is s**t so he cant be any good

Why the negativity, the guy is only giving his opinion and you put a comment like that, get off Leeds back, not a proper supporter

As you all know i love my FACTS So i will leave you with these facts to ponder

NUNEZ
KISNORBO
CLAYTON
LONERGAN
O'DEA
SAM
LEES
WHITE
PARKER
ETC ETC ETC

FACT FACT FACT .....................MOT MOT MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable5

The only FACT in your post is you love FACTS - totally pointless

Agree0 Disagree0

Just pointing out equivalent of new faces/transfers in compared to last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from O'Dea and Longergan the rest were part if our squad last season. FACT YOU f***ING person your such and person in your facts and no nothing about us you forgot our first signing of the season Racahkuba

Agree0 Disagree0

40% of those players were not deemed good enough to warm the bench at the latter part of last season FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Michael Brown?
One of our few 'real' signings this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

No you're not.

Clayton, Nunez, Lees, White were all at the club last year. Its just that Simon didn't feel they were worth keeping in the first team squad. Parker missed much of the season with injury but he was very clearly only seen as a back up player. Sam too was shown to be 3rd or 4th most favoured winger.

From your list Kisnorbo (if he can steer clear of injury) is indeed like a new signing; and Lonergan and O'dea ARE new signings. You could have added Brown & Rachubka too.

But, if you wanted to keep it balanced you'd then have to say that on the 'outs' list go Johnson, Kasper and Kilkenny, who definitely were seen as first teamers as they had well over 120 first team appearances last year between them. Then you'd add Higgs and Naylor as other departures along with the loanees McCartney, Livermore, Watt, Lichaj, Gonzalez, Bannan.

Then, if Kisnorbo is like a new signing as he is returning from long term injury then Somma and Becchio has to be counted as like losing two players.

On that basis you'd have:

'INS'
Lonergan
Rachubka
O'Dea
Kisnorbo
Brown

'OUTS'
Schmeicel
Higgs
Gonzalez
Lichaj
McCartney
Naylor
kilkenny
Johnson
Livermore
Bannan
Watt
Somma
Becchio

And that from a team that had already slipped from automatic promotion spot at the mid way point of the year to not even in the play offs by the end.

I hope Paddy stays fit as he could be a key player this year and Brown too could prove to be a good capture (though he missed half the season last year and is now 34) but beyond that the squad has gone backwards in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people see players going out on loan as not being good enough. The likes of Nunez/white/clayton/lees went out on loan and performed very well for their respective clubs and will return better and stronger players for the experience and it will be like having new players at the club. Give them a chance instead of ranting on about buying new

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Why do you think these players were loaned out instead of sold last season? To become BETTER players, you f**k-wit Really looking forward to seeing Clayton and Nunez - looked very good against Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Players go on loan for three reasons:

1. To gain experience,
2. Because the manager doesn't see any likelihood of their being able to force their way into the parent club's side
3. So that some of their wages can be paid by the club that 'borrows' them.

So Nunez spent most of his time in our reserves then went for a few games in a side heading for relegation. Clayton also spent a bit of time in the reserves or on the bench before spending the rest of the year at a L1 club, Aidy was the same and Lees spent the whole season in L2.

Yes we saved a few bob, yes they got some first team experience but only because the manager didn't think they were good enough to play any part last season.

They probably have become better players but they already were part of the squad but Larry didn't think they were good enough to keep around then.

If you can't grasp basics like that its best not to express an opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the original post, these are all NEW faces coming into the 'playing' squad, and there is a wealth of talent in there. Most of you have missed the point here?

We didn't need to sign the countless players mentioned on here, we need to use what we have, and Grayson has been clever in loaning out players who need some experience, Nunez could well be the difference between us and the likes of Leicester and Ipswich who are trying to buy success.

We have players who want to be a part of Leeds, and know what we are about, rather than take the 'quick buck' and move on when it doesnt happen.

Lets wait and see, and get behind the team, rather than moan and criticise before a ball is even kicked??

How many of you were expecting the finish we had last season at this time last year??

Leeds4alongtime MOT shout it out loud LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS

Agree0 Disagree0

I predicted exactly the finish we had at this time last season.

I predicted we'd take the momentum of promotion and be in the play offs by the mid-way point before the weakness of the squad (signing players like Connolly & Bruce who couldn't get a game at mid table clubs just because nobody else wanted them so they were cheap and desperate; and Paynter the one (L1) season wonder) would mean we'd slide down to mid table).

This season I'd expect us to start ok but finish easily in the bottom half of the table. The bookies and pundits don't mention us as contenders for the play offs for good reason.

Agree0 Disagree0
