Cameron Stewart looking like a done deal. Should sign next week according to Brian himself.

A return for Max Gradel is looking unlikely due to him not playing much over the past year or so according to Brian McDermott.

Any other rumours aren't concrete, they're just what people want. For example everyone seems to want Gary Mackay-Stevens and the more that name gets banded around the more false hope flows through others.

Just stating the obvious here really that's all. No need to make up rumours just because you want the player, please have some evidence behind it after all that's what rumours are all about really.

Cheers

Yet another poor cheap or free signing, Cameron Stewart who can't even make Charlton's first team, what difference will he make? NONE, he won't even take the place of any of the dead wood that play now, and that is why we can't compete in this division, and is McDermott really the right manager? Murphy, Hunt, Wootton, Smith, not going to do a lot with these unknowns.

Agree4 Disagree8

I agree! I posted max will sign next week and I know it will happen! I said 99% positive info and I stand by it!!

Agree0 Disagree2

Spoke to a mate of mine who is die hard Charlton home and away, he said Cameron s pulls out of tackles and falls over all the time, fans even were getting on his back because of the tackle shirking. The minimum requirement has to be commitment and passion at least.

Agree0 Disagree1

He has to work within the constraints of a budget and with players who want to play for Leeds, easy eh?

Agree2 Disagree1

Why would BMD want to sign Cameron Stewart, what does he bring? absolutely nothing. Maybe some pace but that's it. Such a waste of money. Is that best we can attract, oh dear!

Agree3 Disagree2

Fair comment! Been a Leeds supporter for well over 40 years and am getting my hopes up far too much over past few days!

Agree1 Disagree1

Spoke to a Hull friend of mine who said he was good till he got an injury, now afraid of being tackled, which is why Hull no longer play him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Here are the names of some guys we got on the cheap in recent years:
Snodgrass
Beckford
Becchio
Gradel

You all need to have some faith.

Agree5 Disagree0

Get off brians back, yes we have been crap in the last 2 games, but before that everyone thought he was doing okay. Now he is rubbish, warnock brought most of the dead wood in and one of the worst players we have got, pugh, was brought in by everybodies messiah grayson

Agree2 Disagree1

Sooooooo . Let's suppose he has lost it after injury and pulls out of tackles etc. Which of the following is true: (a) McDermott doesn't know this unlike assorted random Charlton/Hull supporters/some bloke in the pub/the office cat (b) McDermott does know this but will sign him anyway because he is a person. Or is there possibly a (c)?

Agree1 Disagree0

I very much doubt that McDermott is buying a winger in for his tackling abilities, so what if he can't tackle that isn't a wingers job.

Agree1 Disagree1

What about trying for Joe Ledley from Celtic, I think he would be a decent addition

Agree0 Disagree0

I think McDermott's being a bit tactical and probably knows promotion this season isn't entirely realistic so he is signing Stewart now because he's dirt cheap and available and wants to come because he thinks he'll be a starter. Then in the summer when more, better players are available, he'll sign better wingers and have Stewart as a squad player. Remember, we're chronically short on wingers so we do need some that are squad players. I anticipate Stewart in January then another winger on a free in the summer and probably one we pay quite a bit of money for!

Agree2 Disagree0

Pugh isn't one of the worst players we have, he wasn't given a fair chance when he signed, but recently, we've been seeing some of his best form again.

Sure, there are better players out there, but seriously?! The worst player we have?!

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 13:14:33
Danny Pugh has recently been one of our most consistent players he has been doing incredibly well recently, I think there are worse players than him e.g Drury, Norris and recently Austin and Murphy.

Agree1 Disagree1

Pugh has actually been decent for us the past 5 or 6 games, he was once a prem player so he obviously knows how to play, i'm not worried about him its some of the others that are terrible. white, brown, norris, green these 4 will do nothing 4 us and haven't done anything for us so far. lees i'm not to keen on aswel as he just cnt cb he was far better at rb

Agree1 Disagree1

How about we let the guy prove he is capable before we get on his back? I am surprised we manage to sign anyone at all with how the so called 'Fans' put players down.

Agree2 Disagree0

I read on a certain 'transfer centre' that Gradel is in talks with Hull!

Stewart to sign in the next few days followed by Gradel or Mackay Stevens. DJ Campbell will also sign in the window and Brian Mcdermott will also look at Liam Trotter. He will also try to get a fifth player in and that will be Luke Chambers from Ipswich. His team will be:
Kenny

Byram, Zaliukas, Chambers, Warnock

Stewart, Mowatt, Austin, Gradel or Mackay Stevens

Campbell, McCormack

Believable6 Unbelievable83

Not a chance that is happening, be surprise if we sign any of them other than Stewart.

Agree1 Disagree0

The same DJ Campbell on bail for match fixing? No thanks.

GMS would be good though and we need a replacement for Austin.

Agree5 Disagree1

No way will we sign another centre back after signing zalukias and wootton . What we desperately need is a quality winger with genuine pace a creative midfielder who can make things happen and a strong centre forward who can chip in with goals

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Jan 2014 15:33:51
I wouldn't be surprised to see another CH, competition is required for Austin not necessarily a replacement and not Campbell.

Agree1 Disagree0

@Jayeg. Gary Mackay-Steven, Ed Upson and Chris Wood or John Guidetti.

@Scoops. I don't think Austin is good enough, but being captain means he has to start every game.

Agree1 Disagree1

Surely we have enough cover in the centre back area lees, Pearce, wootton, zalukias and also peltier who can fill . We are also overloaded in the left back area Pugh, warnock, white and drury surely 4 left backs is too many . I think whoever we sign in this window really needs to add something to the first 11!

Agree4 Disagree0

Ive got to get me one of those crystal balls - you can't give me the lottery numbers can you? - if we sign a striker, a defensive midfield, and a couple of creative midfielders I would be happy

Agree1 Disagree0

Would definitely be happy with Chris wood big, strong a bit like Matt smith but has a first touch can bring players into the game and also knows where the net is unlike smith . Think this window is going to really show how ambitious we are!

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jan 2014 19:00:28
why are people slagging smith off he's got 7 goals this season, he would get more if we had a winger who could cross the ball. 90% of the times he gets the ball he has his back to goal with a centre-half facing he ball. Give the kid a break.

Agree3 Disagree0

I like Matt Smith, think he's a good player and scored goals for us this season. I just don't think he's a starter in every game and I would like a third option to call upon in attack. Heard murmurings that Leicester might look at selling Chris Wood since he can't get in the team, was rumoured with the dog botherers on Twitter.

Agree1 Disagree0

I like Matt Smith too. Tactical decisions to completely avoid our midfield and hope that Matt Smith can track down every ball and hold up play . is not Matt Smith's fault.

We don't need another CB. We have 3 good ones, and a team in the thick of the playoff chase isn't going to sell to us.

As for Gradel, if we get him, I hope it's a loan with a view to a permanent signing. He's played 271 minutes this season and can't be match-fit, versus Mackay-Steven, who has started 15 matches in the SPL.

Hope we can also get rid of the fringe guys too. MOT.

Agree1 Disagree0

Matt smith is not a first choice striker of a top 6 side in the championship! He might have 7 goals but with the chances he has had and missed should have 17 . I think he is a good option to bring on if your chasing the game!

Agree1 Disagree0

Jayeg, you hit the nail right on the head

We are not a top six side in the championship at the moment

as other posters have said the majority of balls he gets have come 50 yards and he has his back to goal.

Of our 4 shots on target on saturday two were his I believe. So why not give the guy a break, or turn up with your boots on Saturday mate.

Whether Brian got his tactics wrong or not, the players are at fault. Not hungry enough and outplayed by players supposedly only good enough for two divisions lower.

We were fortunate that we didn't have a west ham scoreline.

ExCroggywhite

Agree1 Disagree0

Matt smith has by far been 1 of our best players this season. someone said he should have 17 goals lol sorry but if he scored every chance he wouldn't be playing in the championship would he! ross knows how to score but he's been terrible in the last 4 or 5 games. I said it last season and still feel the same. our att is fine and our defence and gk is fine its our weak pathetic midfield that don't do a thing. austin is the most selfish player iv seen at leeds, he needs telling to pass and quit shooting your not a st and murphy needs to man up and make a tackle.

Agree1 Disagree1

Firstly, DJ Campbell is no way going to happen, the abuse our fans gave him on New Years Day was unbelievable.

And in the response to the post above, our midfield is decent when on form, austin is one of the best midfielders in the league on his day without a doubt, murphy and mowatt are young and constantly improving, can't just expect them to come in to the team and be first class really, and we do need another striker to replace smith, he's better coming on as a sub I think.

Leeds takeover is still going ahead despite the dismal performance against Rochdale. Thankfully the investors still see the immense value in Leeds United.

Believable34 Unbelievable16

Utter nonsense, if you worked for LUFC you would be covered by a NDA, so why would you make your identity known.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jan 2014 15:07:31
So your suggesting that defeat in the FA Cup could have jeopardised the investment / takeover - let's hope the investors are less fickle than some of our fans

Agree4 Disagree1

Not quite sure what first reply is on about as original poster hasn't said he works for lufc, doh!!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would that stop the takeover? They will buy leeds United for the potensial there is, not that we look like FA cup winners at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2014 13:14:01
Scunthorpe keeper done his photoshoot with LUFC so as Stewart. I had to order 6 tickets from France to Leeds Bradford for LUFC not Gradel he won't be joining. Also I had to order more W and l and I but not for wells for Calum Wilson form Coventry.
I work in PR at Thorpe arch but I'm manager of the trinity shop

Believable10 Unbelievable47

Is the Scunthorpe goalkeeper Slocombe? Heard we've bidded for him on Twitter and is highly rated (Tottenham supposedly interested), would be a good signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2014 19:04:13
you won't be working there long if you keep sprouting this nonsense.

Agree1 Disagree0

You are not the manager of the Trinity shop mate because I've been full time
In there since October. Another rumour full of lies. Why do people post such sad things like this?

Adam le fondre favouriting a move to leeds as he knows BMD well from Reading. Although no formal offers have been made. Cameron Stewart signing all but done and to be announced Monday/Tuesday.

FA Cup : Wrong formation, wrong players picked we should have at least 8 players from the squard

Agree4 Disagree0

It's all good going after a goalscorer, but we need some creators too. Apart from Ross, the only other one is Mowatt and he's 18 and we can't put too much pressure on him.

Le Fondre, Stewart and three centre midfielders should be our targets.
