Heard rumours around leeds where strongly consider putting a package together for george friend and martin woods from doncaster rovers. Lonergren to sign tomorrow for 200k

These 2 players will not make us better...

In graysons words I will only sign players that are better than we have now. or make us better ...

Doubt we will sign martin woods as we let him leave a few year ago as a teenager. And as for the donny left back he is worse than bassone so we won't get him either

Is it true that Peter whittingham is coming to Leeds united, please say it's true, his one great player, and would be a great signing for Leeds united {Ed017's Note - News is he is linked with Norwich City and Portsmouth.

He is leaving Cardiff because he wants more money - We have KB work it out for yourselves

He'll go to Pompey .... new owners new money. Either way there is no way Leeds will get him .... wages end of :-)

Probably from a fan of another club or someone who has totally lost hope and might as well be a fan of another club. Becchio Gradel and Snodgrass are going nowhere and Kisnorbo is highly unlikely to move. Naylor has been released so that's hardly news. Paynter isn't going anywhere, unfortunately.

Eric Lichaj was really impressive, unfazed by the large crowds and atmosphere, took people on down the wing, he was great on either flank. Forget about getting him on loan If he has an awesome season his value will go up sky high Buy him now for a couple of million whilst we can. I can see him been an integral part of Leeds Uniteds future. (and he is a spitting image of Tennis World number 1 - Djokovic)

The thing is that Villa see him as a big part of their future aswell Kind of like us with Howson and the Lewis brothers....the fee that Villa would want would probably be in the region of around £4m to account for lost potential........can't see Bates paying that

don't believe this for one second myself however it is a rumour......patrick viera has apparently been in wetherby today talking to estate agents. sure its complete rubbish but a rumour nevertheless. if it turns out to be true, despite his age, he'd be the dm solution for at least a year. more likely he'll be commuting to leicster from wetherby to be honest

It would be a good signing but only as a player coach, get him playing 10-15 games a year when the fixtures pile up and training the young midfielders on how to tackle properly and have a real box-to-box engine.

Ha ha, i seem to remember this exact same rumour this time last season before he went to Man City I know its a rumour site but i wish these rumours would stop getting recycled.

Rubbish, everyone knows Hargreaves is likely to retire from football, he is not able to play more than a couple of games a season, I just dont see this.

News coming out of Elland Road for the 3 old boys is:

Woodgate - Stalling on making a decision. Looking to be waiting for a club to offer at least a 2 year deal. (Probably Brighton or Cardiff). He also thinks that Leeds 'isn't the club for him'

Smith - Has told the media in Newcastle that he wants to stay and fight for a first team place. He's in too much of a comfort zone up there...

Bowyer - Has held 'extremley positive' talks with Ipswich, rumoured to be based on a 2 year £21k a week contract. (Leeds offering £13k max).

Re Smith - actual quotes anywhere? papers claimed agent said hed consider staying at Newcastle if no better offers came in and that he wouldn't be forced out but no actual quotes from agent or smith himself....

I doubt this very much. Smith wants to come back to his home club. Woodgate and bowyer i am not sure of but believe they would like to return as well. But we will have to wait to see what happens

Truth be told I can't see any of them coming back we simply can't afford them. If Smudge has 1 year left on his Newc contract .. and his deal to come to Leeds is 30K wages paid by Newc and 15K by us what haapens next year when his contract with newcastle expires ? ... do we fork out 45k? ...no chance

I'm getting quite exasperated by suggestions it's stalled due to wages on Smithys part it's well documented that he would take a cut just whether that's enough for Bates...

To all the people who now think we are only signing 4 players this pre-season, think again. What Bates was actually saying was we are in serious discussions with 4 players. Rest assured there'll be more than 4 coming in

rumour from a very close source has it that schmeichel was sold for £850 000, if thats the case then weve barely over a million to spend on players and wages, 200 000 for lonergan and securing the services of gradel n snodgrass would very much leave us in the lurch..and alot of our radar players have gone elsewhere due to wage demands and signing on fees

Do you genuinely think that the sole reason we sold kasper was simply to raise funds for summer buys and wages?

There was no way the schmeichel deal was about generating transfer funds given the measly amount we got for him more about a clash of egos from what I've heard?

How much have we also saved on the wages of Johnson, Kilkenny, Naylor, Kasper, Higgs, e.t.c that will now be used for new players wages, (as well as the loans which have gone back)

... im sure we still have the money for other players we have sold dont get me wrong but im sure weve been making profit for a while now so we definately have some funds somewhere?

Sky sports said the deal was in excess of 1m so that was the minimum we got, and the next day ssn updated it saying it was a 1.2m deal.

Preston conceded more, not Lonergan. A goalkeeper isn't necessarily responsible for every goal conceded otherwise why bother with a defence? If we get a 3rd 'keeper in I would ussume it will be Alnwick who's just been released by Spurs I believe. By saying "were" they mean that's what the situation was when they got their information.

To the 16 year old who said Dudek is w**k, You where still in nappies when he was top of his game at Liverpool. He is 38, christ Pat Jennings was still playing top flight at 42. He would be an asset if he joined Leeds United.
He has been training with probably the best goalkeeper in the world for the last 3 years.
You need experience in a goalkeeper, not a kid who cant organise his defence

4 the players supposed 2b 'in discussions' is it money why they won't commit and are waiting for better offers 2 come in
Grayson we trust but he needs 2 man up and demand players who will at least give us a chance of challenging for a top 6 place

I'll have a go at answering the questions...

1. Because it's a long term investment and will prove to be very lucrative, just like the centenary pavillion.

2. In negotiations, likely they will be concluded in toime for the new season, want to get the best deal for the club.

3. When we have chosen the best sponsor.

4. It takes time, we won't break our wage budget / structure so if the players are motivated by money and not playing for the football club, we don't want them anyway.

Hospitality provides huge income hence the east stand re-development, especially when its effectively wasted space as Uncle Ken hardly opens it - its better used for hospitality where i'm sure they have a list of people waiting to sign up and paying outrageous amounts of money to do so. I used to work in commercial dept selling boxes/hospitality so know the kind of money this could/will bring in and also the kind of demand there is too.

No sponsor = no kit. I'm sure they will be in negotiations but until the deal is signed, we probably won't see the kit (which is probably ready subject to sponsor on the front)

finally, a lot of players have only just come back from hols a few days ago, keep in mind getting hold of agents, clubs, the player themselves.....if they are that good, probably in demand from other clubs so things dont happen overnight

I really want to see some deals coming in but we all need to stop panicking

The sponsorship has been signed, will be announced soon....

Leeds have a year left on the Netflights sponsorship
Macron just haven't released the kit yet that's all. Should be done next week

Leeds are ready to seal a deal for keeper Andy Lonergan after agreeing a £200,000 fee with League One-bound Preston.

Lonergan has had a medical and discussed terms at Elland Road and is expected to sign on today as a replacement for Kasper Schmiechel, who has moved to Leicester City.

Everton took a long look at Lonergan during the second half of last season - he even went training with them - but the Toffees have not been able to raise the cash or create a squad vacancy for him.
