Cellino willing to give McDermott a chance good decision, cellino said now he has the owner and will have the market which means he is going to back Brian in the summer let's see what he can do were cellinos words.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

No No No Get rid of him, he has made our team a laughing stock, he's in it for the money that's why he won't do the obvious, and resign, worst manager we have ever had, he hasn't got a clue.

Agree6 Disagree8

Give it a rest look at the circumstances we need stability sacking managers left right and centre is not the way to success. Give the man a break give him a chance in normal circus then judge him

Agree6 Disagree5

All Cellino needs to do is ask McDermott what the gppse have you done since I last told you to stay at home? You know when we beat Huddersfield 5. 1, when you wasn't there. You came back and. LOST nearly every game, and you want PAYING?? For WHAT? McDermott you keep dwelling on your one season WONDER with Reading but you came straight back down and got sacked!! Great achievement NOT.

Agree5 Disagree4

Lay off MCD. He's been treated appallingly already. It's not about money. If it was, he'd have left on mad Friday and sued for what he is contractually owed. He 'wants' to do well for Leeds and we need to all get behind him now. He's got the rest of this season to improve results and if he can, he deserves full backing in pre-season and so on. MOT

Agree4 Disagree4

Get off his back, and let's see what he achieves without all the other crap flying around. 3 points tonight///

Agree6 Disagree5

Personally I think Massimo is already fed up with English players high wages and lack of performance. I think he will press ahead with installing a good quality coach who will develop new talent and a good passing game supported with a few Italians who he has knowledge of. doesn't make sense to maintain the current wage bill and not see either style or effort. BMD will get chance to work with Massimos players but less team management will surely see him go and probably bitch in the process.

Agree2 Disagree0

I think BMD will get until Xmas to prove himself, then we can judge Brian's decisions and tactics without the pressure of takeovers etc.

Andy MOT

Agree2 Disagree2

We have a season that now means nothing- no promotion, relegation unlikely simply due to others, not us. He is thinking, let BM dig his own grave whilst people get to see the best of Cellino. It's been such a uneasy time he recognises we need a period of calm

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought he just meant let's see how you manage in the next game now you have no excuses.

I wouldn't expect him to last long if we carry on losing.

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree with majority on here give BMD a break. we were doing ok up until Christmas then rumours abound and poor bugger gets sacked then reinstated. The Messiah Cellino's takeover gets derailed by them pesky so and so's at FL, and we know what they think of our great club. I recall when BMD tookover there was no mention this of us season going anywhere. Give the man a break FFS!
Jedburgh White

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeh give the useless person a break so he can get us relegated.
the man is inept and has to go TODAY

Agree0 Disagree0

Cellino will keep Mcdermott till the end of the season, then offer him a deal to end his contract which will suit both parties. He has already made contact with Marcelo Bielsa, the former Argentina and Athletic Bilbao manager. Bielsa will take the reigns and instill his brand of passing football into the Yorkshire club. Bielsa was a big fan of Revie's Leeds as a boy.

Believable17 Unbelievable34

This is so left field it's believable, bielsa won't take any s£&t though. Could be what we need

Agree1 Disagree2

If true that would be fantastic! I love Brian he's a great bloke. Yes he got Reading up but struggled in the Prem a bit out of his depth. Despite all the problems off the field apart from a few games we have been woeful and most of the players he has bought in are poor! Would go for a pint with BMD and do respect him it's not personal its strictly business. MOT

Agree1 Disagree1

So was I a big fan doesn't mean I'd get the job

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps you are a big fan, but are you also a world class manager? That's Cellino's requirement

Agree0 Disagree0

'World class manager a requirement' that rubbishty Italian manager he tried to put in the dugout wasn't world class

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course as a fan I'd love to believe this. But I find it implausible to believe that a man playing at a club of similar stature and history with a bigger ground and better standing who has turned down chelsea twice would give a monkeys about coming to Leeds. Unless he's Cellino's long lost child.

Football League to decide on takeover on thurs?
Do they ever give up.

Believable20 Unbelievable6

Already sorted by today. Can't take that away from us or they are in for a world of pain. Pete mot.

Agree1 Disagree1

They have no choice but to approve it. Otherwise they are ignoring their own protocols, thus making an exception for one club.

Decision made by QC on Saturday. No ruling left to make.

Agree0 Disagree2

The FL can do as they want. Don't kid yourself.

Agree1 Disagree1

Can somebody please clear it up if the league don't approve on Thursday what happens can he not takeover the club?

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Apr 2014 17:33:41
They have already tried to move the goalposts by getting the Italian law expert they sanctioned removed mid QC's enquiry when they realised it want going their way.
They haven't treated Leeds or Cellino the same as any other club re this test and there should be an independent enquiry into the F League's behaviour in this matter. Someone somewhere (Harvey?) has been on an agenda. Or is it because we are the cash cow for the Championship and Sky's favoured team of choice?

Agree2 Disagree0

The Football League's pride has taken a massive kick in the nads and I for one am glad. I think that if they continued to try and deny Cellino it would look very much like they have an axe to grind with Leeds, which is what a lot of people think in any case. The best thing would be to issue some sort of press release welcoming Cellino but that would never happen. haha

Mad Mick

Agree1 Disagree0

Totally agree with previous poster. Someone, somewhere has to account for this (Sean Harvey?). Daily snail too are no friends of my beloved football club. And, as already mentioned, the Oystons are not whiter than white. big shout for Mishcon de Reya .

Fl tryin to keep leeds in lower leagues due to money reasons we give every team in championship a cup final when they play leeds like everything in life its all bowt money

Agree2 Disagree0

According to the independent he could still be removed from the club . I just can't believe it, they must have it wrong . if they block him now or in june it will be a disgrace when you look at the altenative for our club . I did not know the FL had so much power un till this total mess .

Agree2 Disagree0

Whatever happens we are going to get a points deduction from them as they don't like it being stuck up them.

Agree1 Disagree0

One thing for sure is the Football league as lost all credability in this sham. They are an utter joke as some of the commitee should be put under investigation as fit and proper people. There as been no mention as what they are doing to this historic club and the paying fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

What would be the point of an appeals procedure if the FL can just ignore it if they don't like the outcome?

I think if they did then MC would have very good grounds to sue the pants off them. Their decision was found to be flawed by and independent QC, so if they now blocked it, how would they defend it?

The FL's own rules say

82.15 The decision of the FAP shall be treated as a decision of The League and binding upon all the Clubs, Officials, Players and Agents.

So in my view its just a case of them rubber stamping it. the fact that they are waiting until Thursday just sums up their petty minded vindictiveness towards LUFC

Agree3 Disagree0

People are getting ahead of themselves. The QC did not say that MC was fit and proper. He said that until the Judge in Italy made her written statement explaining why she convicted MC, it was not correct to say that he acted dishonestly. When she makes her written statement (by June) he could become not fit if she says he acted dishonestly - irrespective of his appeal. MC is not out of the poop yet.

Agree1 Disagree0

To the poster who said People are getting ahead of themselves because the QC did not say MC was fit and proper to run a football Club. You are quite right but the QC did say "Mr Cellino’s appeal accordingly succeeds. He is not, at present, subject to a Disqualifying Condition and is not disqualified from holding office or acting as a Club Director at a Club."

Short of saying word for word he is fit & proper I don't think it could be clearer!

Agree2 Disagree1

Exactly

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2014 20:09:01
I 3rd that

Agree0 Disagree0

I 4th that. Independent appeal success. Job done . Cellino in and he may have even bought ER back by Thurs. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I second that emotion.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read the whole thing the QC says if they wanted to wait for the appeal then they should not have made their decision until then. The QC has ruled in favour of Cellino so they now have to rubber stamp or they are in contempt of their own process. Now I dunno if they can then fail him later if the italian judge comes out and states he is dishonest but if they do then I would imagine a huge court case against them as the amount of dodgy people in the league running clubs is unbelievable

Agree0 Disagree0

According to Popey from BBCRADIOLEEDS
the yacht guilty verdict has to be
Ratified by the Italian courts.
If Cellino fails his import tax guilty appeal
the FL can still fail him.
Whether this takes 9 months or 9 years
the FL will FAIL Cellino!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Apr 2014 23:13:32
So one tax "MISTAKE" makes him unfit to run a club but the fact he is fit and proper due to him running Cagliari for 20 odd years successfully, which makes him more fit and proper than 99.9% of football league owners, to anyone with common sence but we are talking about the football league I doubt they ever have evolved from apes.

Agree1 Disagree0

But. its not one mistake. There were others in the past, there are others currently being investigated.
Please get away from the "Messiah" feeling.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't attend away games, without the leeds payday for other clubs the league will think twice

Agree0 Disagree0

There are many other clubs who are on similar par to LUFC "Away" support. let's face facts if 10K of LUFC supporters went to away games, not every club charges £35 admission, so its reasonable to assume that one game would bring in 250K. Replace LUFC with, say, Birmingham, Forest, Leciester, or any reasonably well supported club, an the revenue difference might be not so large as you think.

been suggestions that Steve Eyre (Huddersfield coach) who had won 5 youth titles with man city and appeared in 2 youth fa cup finals (won 1) (pre money) and festa as a team also been mentions of Pablo di canio or Zola also would like to see McDermott remain at the club in some capacity he is a decent lad and has not worked out this moment in time he has a vision maybe give him a chance in the future he would be a breath of fresh air if Leeds become successful again because he respects every manager and has time for everyone would be a good thing for one of the top sides to have also is a hard worker but won't last much longer as manager at least

Perhaps on a burger bar in the east stand!

To be honest I think we been bit hard on McDermot, we got really frustrated with the takeover etc and he might have been the easiest target

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Apr 2014 20:17:37
you don't have to be hard on McDermott 3 wins in 21 games says it all, what would have been the reaction if Warnock had a stat like that when he was in charge.

RS

Agree0 Disagree0

Cellino will get his own boys in ie. Zola, De Matteo. There are players who haven't performed under Mcd like Byram and Lees. Maybe they do not like the style he plays but they should be MC first priority .We have let a lot of young talented players leave in the past and we need to keep these young lads these young lads are the future of Leeds.Conti was past his best 5 years ago so why bring him in when we have mowatt? Top young english midfielder who will be a star for leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom Lees has never done it for Leeds you look at history Leeds has conceded loads of goals since Tom Lees was first put into the squad don't believe me check the tables pre and post Tom Lees his the one what's the problem but no one has realised it yet

Agree1 Disagree0

Can people stop mentioning that muppet Di C*nio on here please? Don't want him anywhere near our club.

Daily baba saying Cellino is hated amongst the squad. If it is true, which I would imagine it is, then good. Will make it easier to clear the lot of them out and free up the wage bill. Full squad revamp imminent, and very much needed.

Believable32 Unbelievable3

Its ok saying that, but, FFP in Championship means unless MC ( or owner) is prepared to off set any overspend with equity purchase, then its "Pie in the sky".

Do not forget LUFC are losing approx. 1.5 million a month, that's 18 million a year, 13 million over the "Permissable losses".

Agree1 Disagree1

Could this be why buying back Elland Road and Thorpe Arch are high on the agenda?

Although they are seen as big expenditure it is also big equity for the club and an expenditure that can effectively be cleared (rental).

I don't know the ins and outs of the FFP but there are clearly ways around it. Potentially where Farnan etc will come into play?

Agree2 Disagree0

By buying back facilities (ER & TA) and absorbing other liabilities, it will not be hard for Cellino to run Leeds Utd in the black and provide a decent level of investment in the squad (at Championship Level) in the short term. However, it is the medium to long term relationship with Cellino that worries me. Cagliari have lost their stadium and been in constant dispute with the Italian FA and authorities. Cellino has been and is the subject of convictions due to fraud and tax evasion. He is not averse to taking extreme risks and my concern is that he will do it with Leeds, hiding money from the Tax Man, FA etc and thus bringing sanctions and disappointment on the Club once again. I cannot help but feel that there is too much blind optimism about Cellino - remember how everyone felt a year ago about GFH - and they had a much cleaner record!

Agree1 Disagree0

The monthly losses will reduce if not disappear over the summer. This is for 2 reasons:-
1) Payments re East Stand building work will end
2) If MC buys ER & TA for LUFC then rental payments stop.

There are ways of raising funds for player purchases within FFP one of which you mention. MC will use whatever is allowed within the rules to raise the funds. However, I don't think as many of the players will be leaving as some suggest. I can see possibly 10 going but they won't all be replaced with new players. 6 decent quality players added to the few quality players we have and youngsters coming through
will be enough.
A quality 1st team squad of max 25 (inc youngsters)is what we need. It should be quality rather than quantity.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 is not enough. 30 possibly, but probably closer to 35.

Agree0 Disagree1

35!? Are you mad? Since when did any team need 24 good players other than a quality starting 11 to have a decent season? A 35 man squad tied up to contracts would also be a real problem if we ever do get promoted in terms of an overly inflated wage bill. Unrealistic and pointless even if it was possible.

are we happy with the players though?

Agree0 Disagree0

Burnley have one of the smaller squads, they have 35 players in squad. Some have 37, 38, 39, 40. Think QPR have 44.

So, don't tell me 25 is sufficient, it is not.

As I said minimum 30 possibly up to 35.

Agree0 Disagree0

Big thing manager signed a lot of rubbish kebe marcus camoon it seams most need sorting most platers past sell by date hence no pace gone back to tonge brown white saysit backwards time to move forwards can't get any worse

Believable25 Unbelievable13

Zola ended his career at cagliari so he will know massimo. he is now favourite to take over. he can't do any worse than we are doing at the mo

Agree3 Disagree1

All hype.I think BMD will be given another chance and with the right money backing will do us well.

BMD would have been sacked long ago at any other club.

Mr T.

Agree9 Disagree1

Just reading the bit in the Daily baba about Cellino facing players revolt. What an absolute joke that newspaper is, I read it online by the way don't buy the comic. Who's the senior source, Ross McCormack tweeted on Saturday welcoming Cellino to Leeds United. If the players aren't happy then let's all shed a tear and say ah bless to them, hopefully most of you won't be at club next season anyway. As long as the players earn they wages they're about to be paid then put it a bit of effort and pick up a win from the next three winnable games we'll be safe from relegation and can start to look forward for the first time in along time and an interesting Summer ahead with some decent signings for a change

Agree4 Disagree0

I for 1 thought Brian would be a class act when he joined, it hasn't turned out that way for whatever reason but the players except the odd few simply aren't good enough . They look inferior to most even when we win and at Elland Road they look more intimidated than the away side by the pressure of a big club/crowd. Nows the time to pick it up get a strong manager disciplinarian in the mould of George graham or sourness and a complete overhaul of the playing staff and let's get right behind them from the first kick off nxt season . MOT

Agree2 Disagree2

Want to start by saying I like Brian as a person, he talks straight and is a genuinely likable guy. That said, for all those who say he needs a chance to build a new team we did ok in the first half of the season, with a smaller squad. Also you can use the no wages excuse to cover for our form but that only counts for the last two games. He doesn't seem to have the passion or motivation skills which are more important than anything else right now. One win in ten games gets anyone sacked.
As for Zola, good shout for me. Wasn't given a fair chance at Watford but got them playing exciting attacking football plus he doesn't lack for passion. A change in personnel and tactics could be good for everyone (as we saw when Brian got sacked, best we have played this season).
Gummie

Id rather he backed Brian with some proper money, Zola's teams play nice football but there's no end result, his west ham team were woeful!
