Leeds been in talks with Jason Puncheon. Soon as takeover is finalised a decent offer will be done.

Believable16 Unbelievable19

This could be true as qpr stole him from us last season!! he was joining grayson yet went to Mr Warnock.

Agree0 Disagree0

The same Puncheon that agreed to sign for us once before and then turned up at QPR with 2 mins of the transfer deadline left when Leeds were waiting for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love that think he is great player for our level fingers crossed, and cant blame him for choseing qpr players want to win things/play at highest level and they went up, so hopefully he will win things for us

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be a good signing, regardless of past history -so what to that! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Only thing that would of stood in the way of Jason signing was Master Bates. Now the king is knowmore and the whites are marching on togeather. This lad has plenty to offer in this league.
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

The club has not said anything about a take over only about some possible investment, we may not have millions to splash about, so until we are taken over best not assume anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

F#ck Puncheon, he's snubbed us twice I believe and he's not even that good.
We can get better players than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard from a friend down the pub that NW is chasing Tommy Smith. Any truth in this rumour? Mark Hughes is building at QPR so he could be on his way out and would be an awesome addition to the squad!

Believable14 Unbelievable12

Not 32 year old Tommy Smith who has scored 9 goals in 3 years!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the latter -not the road we want to go down. Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Iagree with chapel a,who makes some very sensible comments,i would not want tommy smith.we need pace up front to work off becchio.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tommy Smith would not be welcome to wear a Leeds shirt, his form is too inconsistent.

Leeds have produced some quality players from out academy so let's bring a bit of youth into the side. Dominic Poleon keeps getting a mention in the matchday program, give him a shot!

Ross Mcorrmack is not leaving Leeds Utd now, he has been offered an extra 200k per year and he's accepted.

Believable18 Unbelievable18

I would like to think so but somehow feel this is wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would he suddenly be offered more money after saying he wasn't going to get it for so long??

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he is worthy of it, lets hope we can do well and get promoted, simon was a yes sir to bates, nw wont, on and on,, MOT,,,, ashley 1919 telford shropshire

Agree0 Disagree0

And just where is any proof of this totally irrational statement then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously no substance at all, private thoughts only, made public.
Simon had no choice but to be a yes man. NW is no-ones yes man and I for one could not see Warnock under Bates's employment. It's the only thing that makes me feel that there is a takeover/investment because if it does go ti*s up Warnock won't stay and work under Bielzibub.
JB

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you need to check the meaning of irrational.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope that this is true. paying an extra £200k per year makes good business sense considering you would probably have to pay around £2m for a striker as good and then at least the amount in wages that Ross would now be earning.

Great deal if true ambrose is pure class and would be great in leeds team, i live near place and seen them play a bit and he is very good in my opinion

lots of people saying rumors about beckford, he can only play one posistion, striker. NW's type of striker is someone like becchio who can play up top, hold the ball up, win headers and of all try hard, what of this does beckford have?

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Oh yeah, like Taarabt, a right lazy fu**er he was at QPR, the thing that Beckford gives you is GOALS

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Leeds want beckford he's the most lazy forward ever seen

Agree0 Disagree0

If he's looking at DJ Campbell, clearly you are wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Putss the ball in the back ofthe net from all of becchios crafty flickk ons that rosco failed to be in position for

Agree0 Disagree0

Becchio is excellent at falling over. Referees are sick of him and are on to him. Rarely does he do much with the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea, beckford did well in div one !! def not proved it anywhere else, why do people still want him back, not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you will find it's pretty obvious that warnock wants to bring in a completely different type of striker to becchio! He said so when explaining while barn door Billy was put on transfer list

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone likes a mix of strikers... Yes becchio is a hold up type of striker but he played well with someone to play off him like beckford. It's the same as viduka.. He held it up well for players like smith or keane to play off him. Can't see beckford coming back as much as I would like to

Agree0 Disagree0

HeiĆ°ar Helguson he is old, a big old lump slow and ex Warnock, probably available on a free. I wouldn't be surprised to see his name on the team sheet next year

Agree0 Disagree0

For leeds .. all of them, beckford knows what will be required of him off the fans and NW will voice that

Agree0 Disagree0

You can hold the ball up as much as you like but if there is nobody going to put the ball in the net at the end of it what is the point? Beckford might be lazy but he WILL score goals which is what we want

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on poster, are you being serious? Beckford is in a different class to Becchio. If NW prefers the latter, then I would seriously question his judgement! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Eeeermmmm...??
He know s where the onion bag is.... Hence the name 'striker'... I like Becchio...he s an honest, hard working player... but really, one on one... versus man utd in the cup, who would you put your money on, Beckford or Becchio?
Jonny H.

Agree0 Disagree0

For those like myself that are old enough to remember the great Leeds side, Allan Clarke was there to put the ball in the net, Mick Jones did all the running they were both fantastic players but for different reasons. I would take Beckford back anytime he knows how to score for us. DP

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the worlds biggest fan of beckford but what he does have is pace and that scares defenders and can put them on the back foot all game.Sharky lufc

Believable23 Unbelievable14

Where you read this cant find it anywhere, might not be coming to leeds but he wont be at leicester next year, personally i think he will go to huddersfield and we get rhodes

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh! It's definately there, take another look on SS site championship page.
JB

Agree0 Disagree0

Id rather have beckford he done brill 4 us...rhodes is unproven at this level

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont get either! rhodes will go to prem and we cant afford beckford's wages

Agree0 Disagree0

If we get money, who knows what might happen? Right now, I would prefer Becks, as Rhodes is unproven outside of Div 3! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Rhodes will be at Huddersfield until January at least .you might be right about them getting beckford though to play along side him. they have more ambition than us and more money . hope bates f**ks off soon

Sometimes I think fans will only be happy if we sign players with foreign names like rodrigez or giani whether they have heard of them or not. Just because they have a name u can't spell ( or atleast I can't ) I think the 3 players we have got will do a job next season. Neil knows what he needs look at some of qpr players he got most unheard of but now they are flourishing in prem ie hill . Please just give him a chance see where we are in aug and then
Comment. Keep the faith

Chorley White

Believable24 Unbelievable4

I think it goes further than that with some fans - they will only be happy if we spend 5 mill plus on a player cos then he must be good never mind how he would fit in the team

Kenny - done deal
Peltier - done deal
Varney - done deal
Whitbread - close
Ambrose - close

Believable21 Unbelievable21

Ambrose would be good. Whitbread probably too. In fact happy with all of those apart from Varney. Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

What a load of rubbish these signings are there's no way billionaires are taking over the club if this is the kinda players ur signing mid-table fin at the best

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand what all the negativeness is surrounding varney. He can play out wide and has PACE, something we desperately need! Maybe Neil will use him as more of a winger with becchio leading the line.

Original post - what are your sources for whitbread and ambrose? Whitbread would be a top class signing.

Kenny peltier pearce whitbread drury. On paper very good defence and a bonus that whitbread and drury know each other well from time at norwich.

Hope these signings happen!! MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the last post. Ambrose would be an excellent signing, Varney doesn't score that many but we will need one or two up front with Somma out and heaving forbid anything should happen to Becchio.

Agree0 Disagree0

Peltier could be signing for Huddersfield. They have offered 600k

Believable16 Unbelievable4

07 Jul 2012 10:53:55
A couple of things to note in regard to the new signings. Let's be realistic, The deals for Drury and Green were more than likely tied up before the takeover proceedings began, and they are decent players for this level anyway, this is obviously why they are the only 'definite' signings so far. Pearce the same, sorted before takeover. There's no reason to assume that Varney and Peltier for example, if they were to come, would be regular starters, they may simply be utility options which are better then the current utility options we have. I for one would rather see Varney and Peltier on the bench than Pugh and Connolly!

I have a feeling that this talk of certain players coming in is a smokescreen, and Warnock has much more important targets lined up for the starting 11. It all depends on how quickly the takeover is completed in my opinion, and how long these targets are prepared to wait. Maybe players like Buzsaky and Scharner (examples only) ARE targets, but it's much better to have rumours regarding Peltier and Varney out there, as it puts other teams off the scent.

Let's not be too hasty, we need to wait till the takeover is signed and sealed before we all bemoan the transfer dealings, as only then will we see who Warnock really wants, and the ambitions of the new owners.

MOT! WMS!

Believable24 Unbelievable6

I think we need some players who will add flair and invention at this level, as well as the Green-type cloggers. I'm talking the likes of George Boyd; Whittingham; someone incisive like MacKail-Smith to play alongside Beckford...Such players would help hammer home the advantage and boost the goals for column against lesser sides, as well as helping turn tight games against the top sides. All dependent on the investment coming off of course! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

At last someone who actually talks sense.. i totally agree mate especialy with the pugh/connolly comment

Neil Warnock is proven at this level of football so lets just see come the start of the season

George LS13

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post and agree entirely. After last seasons disappointment and the excitement of the takeover I think we're all getting bit edgy with nothing having really happened.

I'll repeat my previous posts, whatever the takeover is and no one really knows we'll still be Leeds, still solvent, still with fantastic support.

Warnock's a good manager and he knows what he's doing, knows the fans and boards expectations and thrives on this sort of pressure. I fully expect us to be top two this season and I hope with us playing attractive football. For all the doubters out there, get a grip and believe we are on the brink of a second coming.

I'd rather be talking about us having cash, looking forward to being competitive and actually in the hunt for players. Those players leaving now aren't good enough and Neil was right to list and release the majority of the squad. No room for passengers or moaners this season, we need focus, commitment, belief and balls as championship ain't easy to get out of. If a players more interested in his wage or that he thinks he's better than the players in the squad then let them go.

Happy days on the horizon and lets lift the team through the season by raising the rafters at ER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Peltier is better than Connolly and Varney actually had a good season in the Premiership for Blackpool and is more a forward than a midfielder so not like for like with Pugh though in that Dept I would rather have kept Clayton

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope your theory is right, but think you are doing a big disservice to Peltier I think he's a quality RB. But hey if we get him & he only ends being a squad player then things will be looking very promising. I'm just glad NW seems to be addressing the problems we have in defence because defensively we've not been good enough over the last few seasons. Hope we hear some good news soon in regards to the investment/takeover situation! AB

Anyone thought that varney could be played as one of 4-3-3 strikers playing wide! Beckford down the middle with snodgrass on the right or another decent signing, think snodgrass could do a job in midfeild cam MOT!

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Becchio will start most games..Warnock rates him .

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we build our formation around one mediocre player? Sorry, don't want Varney here. He is another Webber! Honest -watch this space! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather keep mccormack and play him left side of the 3 strikers than varney

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed becchio will start when fit. You can't play without a target man in the championship these days, look at reading and so'ton last year....roberts and lambert

Agree0 Disagree0

Varney has scored 23 goals in his last 115 starts. Why do you think he is a good striker!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the best position for varney is the wing he is very quick and strong and he is technically very very good. If he comes to leeds and gives 100% every game what more can you ask for give the lad a break hes not a prolific scorer yes,but its the contribution he would give to the team that really counts.Sharky lufc

Is anyone else concerned over the standard of signings we are being linked with. Varney and Norris won't be good additions in my eyes, dj campbell really, are we that desperate. This is just a few, what do we do sign them for one year then get rid once they get us up because they dont cut the grade in the premiership.I already think Paul green is a waste of a wage. What happened to n.w wanting to bring hungry young lads in? Now the rumours of the takeover seem to be not happening I've not seen anyone come up with a new rich middle eastern consortium name recently, let's concentrate on the fact bates will be here next season, stop getting linked with rubbish and lets find some young hungry lads who want to make a name for themselves with a blend of a few experienced lads to guide the younger ones through. Northampton white. {Ed020's Note - dj campbell is a proven goalscorer at champ level, and i for one would think it'd be a good aquistion. maybe your right to a certain level for varney, but i completly disagree with the dj comment}

Believable12 Unbelievable9

I agree completely with the poster. None of these players are 'young, hungry, pacey or powerful!' Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Green is not a waste of a wage ! very hard working player who has an eye for goal, pearce was the pompey player of the year, very good young hungry defender, Drury will bring experience to the defence sadly lacking last season, so get of your high horse and start believing in Warnocks signings, he knows what it takes to get out of this division !!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems clear to me that there is so many ppl out there that THINK they know so much more about Players than NW does, NW has a proven record of getting the best out of so called average/asbeen players as some of you call them, Stop setting your sights far too high and get behind the gaffer and STOP whining at players we haven't yet got. I for one think all the lads we have being linked with are better than 80% of what we have at present...........MOT
MJB66

Agree0 Disagree0

Did carney play in the premiership and score goals for a struggling side in Blackpool? Think he did have any of our strikers done that.

Also varney was playing for Portsmouth who were going from crisis to crisis so had no confidence. Keep in mind scoring goals were nit our problem.

Did green play in the euros? Think he did do we have any other midfielders who are currently doing that. Nope

Drury where was he playing last season? Premiership fact captain of Norwich fact

Agree0 Disagree0

These players could just be our subs . they will all do a job in this league weather it be add a bit of pace upfront or a bit solidness to our line-up to make sure for last 20 mins or so.
we will bring the starting players in next few weeks. there should be about 5 new starting 11 players coming in and maybe more if snoddy ,mccormack ect go

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't want young hungry lads in,we want tried and tested experience to get us up,which is what warnock is no 1 at,stick to your day job, and stop listening to rumours about no takeover ,its gonna happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt that the same Dj campbell that scored 13 goals in prem not so long back so he cant be that bad

Agree0 Disagree0

I never made any reference to Pearce i think he is a good strong addition. Wait a minute how much time did green spend on the park in the euro's? Maybe I'm wrong with dj Campbell and I will eat my words, maybe him and becchio could form a solid partnership up front but goals haven't been really our problem over the last few years. Stopping them has, right back and centre halve is essential, I think we need a holding midfielder and an attacking mid too. I do think the lad mcgugan (not sure on the spelling) would be a great signing. Look I'm no manager but I'm a very passionate Leeds fan who will be at every game next season no matter what signings we make. Northampton white.

Agree0 Disagree0

We certainly haven't been downgrading. we previously had pretty much as weak a championship side you could have without being relegated, and we added to that with a quality centre half, a proven left back and a hard working cm. i'm happy with progress so far

Agree0 Disagree0

Tried and tested experience? Sure, we need some of that, but it's actually a risky business signing a load of older players -do they have the fitness, edge, hunger etc? We've been down that road so many times, and it has almost invariably failed (the glaring exceptions being Strachan and Chapman). Rush, Hateley, Steve Stone, Paul Dickov, Paul Robinson, Michael Brown etc etc... Need I go on? Chapel S

Agree0 Disagree0

No dont go on , green 29, pearce 24, if we get them then peltier 26 luke varney,30, not exactly past it are they

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the 3 players that have been brought into the club are good solid profesional just what we need and not only give solid performances week in week out the young lads could learn a lot from them therefore helping them develop which i hope is where the young hungry talent is going to come from with perhaps 1 or 2 more young signings. The overall standard of player needs to be improved give these new players a chance neil would not have signed them if they were no good.Sharky lufc

It seems that all the excitement, all the rumours all those supporters who know someone who's in the know has all gone flat.
I genuinely think that we are all going to be disappointed, I think the take over/investment was true but feel that the Clown prince of Monaco has gotten all greedy and has probably been told to f**k off by potential owners/investors.
It's all gone to bloody quiet, second rate signings and lack of them tells it all.
Losing the faith now, genuinely pi***d off with the whole thing. One month to go and we are in tatters.
JB

Believable11 Unbelievable6

Load of rubbish pal, the takeover is very close chill out for fu**s sake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Trying to chill but can't, I've gone all pessemistic. Yesterday I was fair to morbid, today I'm morbid to suicidal.
:@)
JB

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates can't have got greedy, due diligence occurs after a deal has been struck. The deal is completed once the due diligence proves that what Bates has told them is correct. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you mean its all gone quiet? There has only been 2 announcements by the club - hardly a constant stream of news. The only noise has come from people guessing or making up sources, identities of buyers etc. Maybe we wont be taken over - I have doubts myself, but these doubts are nothing to do with the lack of rumours generated by people with less knowledge than 99% of fans.
MaltaWhite

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats if due diligence as really happened . the only reason to believe it is actually happening is that l.u.s.t have said it is . if it wasn't happening they would surely be having a go at bates

Agree0 Disagree0

These alleged 2nd rate signings are better than we already had, we are not in tatters. Patience is a virtue and pessimism does not help anyone!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true once u enter due diligence the buyers will look through all the paperwork and make an offer of what he finks the clubs worth then they try work out wat both parties agree

Agree0 Disagree0

Its gone quiet because the only people making a noise were those who don't have a clue, business is confidential until concluded, then we will be told

Agree0 Disagree0

F.F.S. ! lets all calm down.loads of deals, tranfers etc. could be happening,if and when the investment/takeover is announced expect positive news. remember, been a leeds fan, never get too high or too low. mrc1919..

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats that saying, 'through thick and thin', 'win or lose'. No matter what happens we'll all be supporting Leeds in years to come.

Did you hear news about who Man City were signing (apart from what their fans were say) when their prospective owners were doing due dilligence? No. Did you hear news about Forests targets? No. Pretty simple, we can all make up names and targets. Whether the papers are correct or not on who we are looking at, we cant get no worse than last season. Should the takeover happen (and i hope to god it does) we could finally be in for a good time.

Only one doubt is how NW can manage having alot of money...he had it at QPR but no 'show pony' signings which we all seem to be salivating over. All were hard workers who got them up but almost took them down.

There is at present, only one thing we can do - sit back, relax and await the news. If positive - brilliant. If negative - no surprise there being a Leeds fan!

The Mirror is linking us with a move for Leroy Lita when Mccormack departs.

Believable10 Unbelievable12

Apparently it's a £1million bid, which I think is a bit steep for him. Good player but maybe worth at most 750k.
