Continuing from a thread in Banter 2 with Ani4, your right about Ipswich, having watched quite a few of their games now I am staggered that they are where they are.
Their defense is pretty awful, in most games they appear to be asleep for about 75 mins. Also in many of their games they do concede first but somehow seem to be fortunate or lucky? to win games very late on.
They run out of luck today and they are i believe a team who are massively overachieving.
If they don’t make it to the the Premiership I believe McKenna will leave as his stock is quite high and they will i suspect be a mid table Championship team next season at best.

I said after we beat them at Portman Rd they were the worst team I had seen. Apart from Rotherham, they still are. How they are where they are has dumbfounded me all season. It’s just crazy.

Hull City a goal up at home to Leicester.

My love and admiration for Daniel Farke increases every time that I listen to his post match interviews. He is open, transparent, honest, generous, humble, always kind and always shows why his record is second to none in this league.

It was deliberate to play slow first half, yes, he knows Firpo cannot defend, and yes, it was really tough to drop DJ

This is what he said after the game, the man is rapidly turning into a legend.

How much did you have it under control and deserve that? It was well deserved. A mature performance.

They were on a good run, an excited home crowd. Dangerous on the counter and with set-pieces.

Have to tire the opponent and take their enthusiasm away.

Perhaps allowed them too many corners.
Illan there with a world-class save. Apart from this we were in control. Great chances with chipped balls to Georgi and Patrick.

Good movement before half-time from Patrick and great cross from Junior.

Second half we were in control. Fantastic second half. They changed their formation and brought more attackers on, but out of the whole game they didn't really have one chance. Proud of my lads tonight.

Tough night for Firpo before the assist?
Yes, Junior's an attacking minded full-back and he suits our game that much because he can join the attack. Great in the decent weeks.

Yes, defending, he can be more switched on, but we have also once we are not ther in perfect positioning. He is a threat in possession and created so many chances. If he could do both things at the top level we could not afford him. He has many strengths and I am pleased he could show this.

Patrick Bamford's goal?
Everyone speaks about a goal he scored at Peterborough in the cup. This was a world-class striker's goal. To have the anticipation to know if Junior will be there. Concentration to bring the ball down. Not easy to score. Sign of a top-class striker. When it counts you have to be there. Not easy to score. Really pleased. Top-class striker. His contribution before the second goal, like Rutter, really good assist. Glad to have him back to his best shape.

Team has nine days off now, what will you do? Like always: sofa, cake, coffee. I am looking forward to a relaxed weekend. So much load. Important for the players and staff. We have had so much travel and miles. Enjoying myself means recovering on the sofa for me. Not too much thinking about football over the next few days.

How difficult was it to leave Dan James out?
Everyone knows how much I love Dan James. Always difficult when I cannot start him, but this was a no-brainer because he was so crucial during the whole season, but it was his first game back in the XI over 90 minutes on Tuesday.

65 or 70 minutes at Chelsea. His intensity against Stoke was very good. Gnonto ready to play. During this schedule you cannot always start the same lads. Need to use and trust your squad. Clear and painful to leave him out because I rate him so much. No-brainer.

Same with Connor Roberts. First game in the XI, 90 mins, covered more than 12km on Tuesday, but everyone needs to stay sharp and in a good mood. When May arrives we need to be there with some games.

Interesting post Class BUT. starting slowly deliberately as you suggest is very risky!

It allows the opposition to assert themselves. and score the very important first goal!

Lets face it Wendies were by far the better team in first half . they could have scored first . then its a different game. and much, much, much harder to WIN for Leeds!

Leeds starting slowly has NOT worked at home to Cardiff, Baggies, Wendies and Coventry

And especially away to Southampton, Preston, Stoke, Sunderland, Baggies, Birmingham, Rotherham anc Huddersfield

Great Leeds teams under Revie, Armfield, Wilko, DOL and yes Bielsa nevef went out to start slow .

09 Mar 2024 13:14:11
Oh the slow stuff, and multiple passes around our own box, worried me witless to be honest Baz.

It certainly looked like we had struggled to get going but Farley’s point quoted was he planned to do this to reduce any tempo from the game and prevent them getting up a head of steam.

Agree, apart from Mezz brilliant save we could of gone in one down, but against a team winning five in six it worked so credit where it’s due but I watched lot looking through my fingers 😁.

Me too Class. first 44 mins or so was anxiety inducing.

Great win Leeds
Can have a brilliant weekend now and see if pressure tells on any of the other teams!
Thought the battlers were fantastic last night!
Rodin, Amps and my favourite last night was Gruev! Big crowd, bad pitch, 4th game in 10 days, could have been a banana skin!
Great team effort! Enjoy your weekend boys

DDSW Great shout re Gruev! He was like a young Batty last night, he loves a scrap that lad, but has a pass in him too!

09 Mar 2024 06:58:37
Gotta be honest.
I never really thought sheff would score last night. Even though they had chances and our performance wasn't great. I never once got that sick feeling in my tum tum. Never once thought here we go.
Where as most of the time I thought we would score when we attacked.
I trust our defense. Haven't been able to say that for a while.
Bit of positivity for you chaps.

Interesting point made by Farke post match about the amount of criticism Firpo receives, not only last night but in a lot of matches he plays.
Firpo is an attack minded fullback that covers both ends of the pitch, it’s quite obvious to most of us that he excels in his attacking more than his defensive duties, but he does do both which suits our style of football.
The point being if he excelled at both we probably couldn’t afford him and would playing for a elite team in the Premiership.

His sublime assist to Bamford is testament to his abilities and maybe we shouldn’t be so hard on him. To try and look at what he does for the team from a different perspective rather than reel out the narrative, he’s just crap!

Yeah. Even though I was critical of firpo Spose Farke got a point. However. If Archie can get up and down don’t see why firpo cant. A happy balance is needed.

09 Mar 2024 11:44:59
Sorry OP but defensively Firpo was appalling in EPL and even at Champo level crap.

Offensively and defensively we had a much better player in Leif Davis.

09 Mar 2024 15:47:18
Firpo leads the league this year in open play assists, and imo is far better than LD offensively. I know you’re going to quote his full season stats now, but don’t bother, as it doesn’t change my mind.

09 Mar 2024 05:43:58
I shouldn't really. I should be mature and feel for them. But oh well
Baz 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's worse than even I thought was possible. Hilarious.

Aus as I stated to you yesterday. India are the best side in the world and are extremely hard to beat at home on their Bunsen burner spinning pitches whucg suits their strengths.

Furthermore India have been. schooling thrashing the Aussies for decades

Last 9 series

India have beaten/ thrashed the Aussies in 7 of these 9 series! 😀

So go easy on the faux misplaced hilarity 😀.

Think that was an exceptional performance against the team in third place in the form
League.

So many strong performances but special mention to Rodon, Mezz for his amazing save, and for his excellent footwork tonight, and then there was Amps who did a passable impression of Beckenbauer at times, immense.

Think the slow first half was deliberate by Farke, not to turn it into a basketball game and it also noticeably tired their forwards from chasing lost causes.

And now the pressure moves back to the other teams, brilliant performance and my perfect prediction…. win by two goals and Piroe to sc…. well win by two goals.

Have a brilliant weekend lads MOT.

Super hope Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton feel considerable extra pressure and lose ( or draw) their games today Saturday afternoon.

09 Mar 2024 07:14:11
Top post Class. Agree about Amps; he was brilliant last night, and brings a new dimension to the role of CB! Spraying the ball all over the park, splitting the defence, and some great surging runs from the back was very reminiscent of the legend you mention. High praise indeed, but deserved!

You can further understand why our Everton Ed is feeling like Everton are the only being punished under breaches of FFP (subject to Forest review in April) but Everton may get sanctioned again!

Whilst I get the majority of posters on here holds the view, good, they got what they deserved.

But Citeh, Chelsea and now Leicester!

Who are predicted to only face a points deduction NEXT season if they return to the Premier League.

Whilst there is nothing preventing them being sanctioned this season, in very simplistic terms, Leicester claim their breaches are not applicable in the Championship and their submission of their breaches fell outside the time limits recently applied to accounts in the Premier League.

So, on a technicality they are free to carry on without any potential points deduction this season.

Who said chests never prosper?

And if founded and sanctioned Leeds United could potentially issue a law suit to BOTH Everton and Leicester, scant consolation if you’ve list the tv riches of the Premier League.

Also reported whilst we are ok it was a key reason for Adams and Sinisterra being sold.

So, Everton Ed.

Understand your anger and frustration on how Everton appear to have been treated differently to teams who have done exactly the same.

{Ed025's Note - its all very unfair and a total sham CO92, of course Everton deserved punishment for their breaches even though i thought the 10 points was too harsh, my problem is that the likes of city who have 115 breaches have not been dealt with sooner, their case has been going on for over 10 years mate, Chelsea as well as other clubs have questions to answer also but their cases seem to be dragging on and there seems no logic to the delays, i feel sorry for the clubs who have behaved themselves and especially the ones who have been relegated but its not the fault of Everton, the corrupt people at the top of the Premier League law makers are ones that created these problems..

Blooming predictive text Baz 😁😁.

Top post Class and I totally agree with all of your comments. What this lot, who supposedly run the show and those owners that put our clubs in this position fail to realise is that it’s never them that feels the hurt or suffers because of mismanagement, no, it’s always us the fans, the loyal supporters, what they fail to remember is that without us they really wouldn’t have to worry about financial fair play would they? No because they wouldn’t exist eh! Fed up of it all mate, all supporters of every team are or will be affected somewhere along the line, it really is time to get this football house in order and start by becoming more consistent and transparent! MOT.
