I see that Pep has supported Bielsa saying that no other manager in the world prepares in so much detail. apart from FF obviously.

Great to see where we are and two things over the last few hours epitomise the club at the moment.
Seeing yesterday’s post match interviews how many managers moan about how injuries are affecting their teams - when did anyone hear Bub complaining it’s not fair because we have half our team on the treatment table, he takes it all in his stride and gets on with it.
The other thing is the tweet by Pontus about Saiz, stating it’s not about one or two players or even the first eleven it’s all about the squad.
If everyone remains so positive at Elland Road then that team spirit will get us up. I liked the earlier post where the team at the top on the 15 th December goes up, let’s keep that run going ðŸ˜.

I think the team sport is the main reason Saiz is being allowed to leave. Can't see Bielsa would want an unhappy player around this group of lads. The fact that we are not getting a loan fee and no guarantee they will even buy him in the summer, plus the spend of the exit suggests Bielsa and do are happy to get rid off him. Yes I know he has off field issues with his partner etc, and it's best we allow him to go. His agent must have been working behind the scenes to arrange this with the Spanish club and Leeds management's blessing.

I think His availability has been mentioned in certain circles since the summer. Remember he has links to Getafe. Their situation has changed with a couple of long term injuries, so I think suddenly this opportunity came up! But it wouldn’t surprise me if we get him back in the summer. Imagine he will have a real incentive to perform over the next 6 months but he is going to be up against the bigger clubs. Interesting to see how he does.

I don’t think we will want him back anyway! Just a bit worried that this is a short term need for Getafe! Added to that he is playing at a higher level and his personality! Only needs something to go wrong and I guess back he comes, unless somone else in Spain wants him.

Just read that Bielsa could name the formation and tactics of every Championship team in every game they played last year. Now that’s what I call obsessively thorough, let’s hope he also has the nous to counter those tactics ( and also looked at Stoke! )

Too be fair Bootsy, I thought there were signs that he was willing and able to change things during pre season in a way that responded to what was happening and had an impact. Hope we can get out of this habit of poor starts to games.

After watching the two friendlies, and I know these matches are all about match fitness and getting to know the system, but it strikes me that we don’t have the leaders on the pitch that we need, there was no-one shouting and encouraging other players especially when we were behind to York. It’s not just some quality technicians we need but a midfield general in the mould of Billy who has the passion to rouse those around him.

Agree totally, but believe Forshaw can be that man. Be interesting how Bielsa manages the Captain situation, as it surely can't stay with Cooper.

Agreed bright foreshaw or poss janson. You've got to take into account boosty it was a very young side at York and I thought they did ok. It will take time as none of them have ever played the way Bubba wants them to. Their confidence will grow with every game.

Agree with you both about Forshaw, last season Jansson went missing far too often when the going got tough so unless he rediscovers his head a brick mentally of the previous season then I have my doubts.
With regards to age if I remember rightly David Batty stood in for Gordon Strachan as captain in the 1991/ 92 season when he would only be 22/ 23 and he was no shrinking violet. We seem to have a generation of young players that are technically good but lack leadership qualities and it’s that mental steel that we need to succeed, again highlighted by the late goals we conceded last year. It’s all very nice playing pretty football but I’d rather we had the option to put in the graft ( mentally and physically ) as well to get us out of this division.

It's a really good point bootsy. Only one of the young lads who came through last season strikes me as a real leader, and that's Paudie, now out on loan. But you're right, we need more natural leaders, more talkers, more shouters on the pitch, to motivate everyone to step up. It was lacking last season.

Sort of agree the same about Lineker, don’t like him him but he has stood up for us over the scouting trip, says it’s rife and even had a kit man come through the dressing room ceiling trying to listen to a team talk.
