Wiedwald apparently a done deal. On his way for a medical. I know his stats don't look great but, often a keeper is only as good as the defence in front of him and by all accounts Werder Bremen's defence last season consisted of 10 players in the opposition half.

Hope he doesn't come in as our number 1 Green was outstanding last season a real leader from the back really kept his box organised and calm.

2.) 29 Jun 2017 12:47:06
Sorry but if you can get in a team at the top level of German football then you can certainly get in a team in the championship, if he does sign then he has to be number 1. I like green but he's not the same level as him.

3.) 29 Jun 2017 13:11:04
Bit torn actually. Green was good after a while last season I would start with green. But he would have to start how he finished last season or out he goes.

4.) 29 Jun 2017 17:28:33
Green was good last year but definitely cost us the 6 points that would have seen us in the playoffs.

5.) 29 Jun 2017 18:24:45
Haha blame the gk for the 6 lost points lol couldn't be the poor all round performance noo

6.) 30 Jun 2017 11:16:09
Individual errors don't happen in football. Is this what you are saying. Green last season made individual errors that definitely cost us points. There's no denying it

7.) 30 Jun 2017 19:31:04
What Pontus jansson didn't cost us any points? Lol it's a team game you can't blame the gk who has saved a lot of points for Leeds.

Elland Road to be purchased early November. Stadium purchase is excluded from FFP (purchase of fixed, depreciable assets are not counted).
Oh and on the FFP transfer embargo rubbish; an embargo would begin 1st Jan 2015 and last until club can demonstrate it is fiscally sound. So, presumably if Harvey is determined, he can stop us buying and selling players for a whole day. However, it is still possible Leeds may get fined, although, given where the business is now, compared with 12 months ago, it could be argued that such a fine is unnecessarily punitive. So says a chap I know at t'FA - we were both drunk, mind.

CityWhite

1.) The fa will use any excuse to punish leeds its been going on for at least 45 years,

2.) MC knows exactly what he is doing, a business man as rich and savvy as him does not spend money lightly & buying back the stadium is all part of proving Leeds are heading back into financial stability. The FA can hate us all they want, they cannot however argue with figures in black & white showing the club is now clearly being managed correctly. don't think MC is too bothered about the FA afterall he is 1-0 up on them already. MOT

3.) City
Drunken chat about leeds that's my kinda night, loved to have been a fly on the wall lol

4.) Believe it or not; not everyone hates us. Some people are (and I know this is going to be tough for anyone to even contemplate but. ) some people, even in the FA, are actually. now make sure you're sitting down for this. some people are. indifferent towards us!
'Came as a shock to me, too.
It's just a shame that the media enjoy portraying both fans and club negatively.
For instance; Cellino gets referred to as 'controversial Leeds chairman', whilst Oyston at Blackpool doesn't even get an adjective.

5.) Seems that M c himself has noticed how certain media portrays him, hence when was the last time he spoke to Sky!
Every one seems to have an opinion on Leeds ex-players etc in regards to M C, and ok he dropped the ball when he assigned the coaches job to D H .
But the hope we have winning games without certain squad players, unknown foreign players, actually doing very well and becoming favourites, the future for once is starting to look bright, a young squad yes, an improving squad yes, sound finances yes .
How many years has it been?

6.) Just thought, I know we are being hit for ffp as GFH ran the club with such large debts. Currently David Haigh is sat in a prison for false invoicing and the auditors at Leeds resigned a week or so back. If Leeds united are a victim of fraudulent crime would this amount (not sure if its big or small) be taken into consideration. If not I can imagine possible legal action from the club. Its been a while since we had a court case.

Leeds looking to play an experimental 1 - 9 - 0 formation with signing of yet another midfield player this season. Wood to be used as an impact sub from the bench if we're chasing the game. Jansson likely to be sent out on loan to Forest Green as we only need Cooper at the back.

CityWhite

1.) 06 Jul 2017 17:14:33
If your referring to Anita CW he started out as a LB at Ajax and played at RB for Newcastle a bunch so its more than likely he is been looked at for the defense not the midfield.

2.) 06 Jul 2017 18:23:00
hopefully that's nine in a line across the middle so nobody needs to make a forward pass. No change there then.

02 Jun 2016 10:27:35
So apparently Garry Monk is about to accept the head coach role.
Seriously?
From what I saw of him at Swansea he didn't exactly hold his tongue in interviews.
Seems like a rather half-hearted appointment to me and I have no clue who he might have lined up in terms of potential targets. shame Evans wasn't given more time and a transfer kitty. The dude brought in some players.

CityWhite

1.) 02 Jun 2016 11:47:27
Yeah. 13th was awesome.

Antennucci and Wooton released. Can't help but be a bit worried by the impending McCormack transfer case.
There's every possibility we will get slapped with a transfer ban which, in arguably our most important summer in a long time, will be a severe blow.
The squad was shaping nicely toward the end of the season but, that was largely down to the loan signings.
We desperately need two centre halves, combative midfielders, a wide man or two and a proven goalscorer, signed on perms.
Personally, I'd have given Antennucci another year as he was a useful squad player.
Looking like this might be a seriously tough summer.

CityWhite

1.) 21 May 2016 10:33:51
i don't see how they can hit us with a transfer ban when spurs and saints where not hit with one for exactly the same thing. then again it is leeds so might happen.

2.) 21 May 2016 11:25:25
Should be fines all round but who knows.

3.) 21 May 2016 12:08:06
Optimistic post city white, I make that 7 signings. Even with any extra season ticket revenue I just can't see it. Though as I'm all Leeds I live in hope.

12 May 2016 16:54:05
Well, if Evans goes, new manager won't be Gus Poyet. He just signed a two year deal with Real Betis.
Lots of talented managers out of a job at the moment. Brendan Rogers, anyone?

CityWhite

1.) 12 May 2016 17:24:53
i really do not know where I stand with him, is he any good or just road on coat tails of other managers? don't think he would come to us due to wages but even if he would I don't know.

2.) 12 May 2016 18:22:46
Agree BW, mind you this lachini that we are being linked with has won promotion from Serie B to A 4 times, not that the Championship is the same but you can see why Cellino might go for him.

3.) 12 May 2016 18:58:18
as wex would say without giving him a try it is hard to know, someone like that has far more of a shout than rodgers for me.

4.) 12 May 2016 19:15:59
Don't really rate Rogers seems like he can lose a dressing room fairly quickly and if we think Massimo has an ego Rogers takes it to a different level. Sorry Rodgers.

5.) 12 May 2016 23:11:08
What?! On what basis have you come to that conclusion Wex?
Never thought Rodgers had any kind of ego and as for losing the dressing room. Unless you are in the room don't believe what you read in the red tops mate.

One way Leeds Fans United could buy the club is through a deal to purchase a nominal upfront amount and fund the rest of the purchase through a loan by Cellino or other. This would be roughly the same way the Glazers took over Man United.
Of course, the Glazers had some idea of what they were doing (albeit saddling the club with a stonking great debt pile) having done it already in NFL and had the backing of multi-billions in assets to reassure the finanical institutions investing. I doubt LFU has anywhere near the same clout.
Pearson taking over would be my ideal shout in the same deal as outlined, above if he has trouble finding backers.
Wouldn't immediately be good for the club as there wouldn't be a huge amount flying around to invest whilst the debt is paid off. I just don't think we'll get the benevolent billionaire angel scenario that some people are hoping for. It doesn't happen that often in any sector.
In any case, Cellino needs to back off, calm down and push any potential sale through an intermediary because his emotions are clearly getting the better of his business acumen. I've defended him because his business decisions are largely good (the club is much better off, financially and nobody can argue otherwise), but he's far too emotionally invested in football to keep a clear head.

CityWhite

1.) 02 Nov 2015 12:40:05
Cellino will not take a loss so if LFU can come up with funds to accomodate this he will sell to them. If not he will say, I gave you the chance you could not do it and either keep or sell to some one else. He will know what price he wants and he will not budge on it. The fact is he did not need to buy us but he did and he is only selling as the fans want him out so he will not drop the price to help them.

Looks like he's lucky to have a player's registration at all, what with his parents giving him up for adoption by one of his coaches at Barcelona. Very exciting prospect but as soon as he starts making an impact Fifa could still ban him. Leeds all over, that would be.

I'm still unconvinced on the signing of Anita as a right-back. We just didn't need one. Ayling at centre would be even less convincing. Berardi would do well wherever he plays but, in my opinion, should be playing on the right. What we're left with is needing two centre-halves and a left-back. Midfield I think we did well for signings. Defence, we signed a player for the only position we've got covered.

FFP is over three seasons rather than one as of March this year. A lot is being spent this pre-season but, we have at least two seasons before the gamble has to pay off. Even if we finally achieve promotion back to the big time, I don't expect another pre-season of transfer activity like we're currently seeing. Not trying to put a dampener on anything at all. I'm as excited as anyone with what's happening. Just saying; don't get used to first team investment on this scale. One or two marquee signings for the first team and a lot of youth through revolving doors will be it after this.

That's OK Swad/Jeff/Survivor. As always, you're entitled to your own opinion. I guess Keepmoat was dull enough that you tirelessly watched Swiss football last season, in between trolling on Leeds site. Hey, you've done it for years. Why stop now? Literally. years. inexplicable

Terms agreed subject to medical but you still have to get all three sets of lawyers to sign paperwork and money to move around.

Hilarious that we can all point out the many, many injustices that have been done to us over the years. Pretty sure if I could collate an injustice league, we'd be close to if not top.

No thank you. Still hold him responsible, personally, for our current predicament. If his own goal had stood when Leeds played Man U towards the end of the 02 03 season we would have had Champions league football the following season. He had a shocker of a game but the ref decided to give a free kick to Man U instead. Perfectly good own goal but refs were quite blatant about their cheating favour of Man United back then. Smith booked for having the sheer audacity of tackling Fabien Bartez who was about 30 yards outside his area doing his outfield suicide bit. Perfectly good challenge on an outfield player. Can't help it. Blood still boils.

Can't help but think; in the 2000's that if a lot more Polish kids and others across the world were wearing genuine Leeds club shirts, we might have had a bit more cash, a softer landing and an easier sale to an interested party.
Sorry but, I fail to see how this post is anything other than stirring for the sake of it. When the Premier League started Norwich were battling against Villa for supremacy. I feel for the Villa fans. I really do. They might be some of the most dull, silent fans (try singing, boys, it can help) in the country but they don't deserve the asset stripping and board disinterest they've been subjected to the last 10 years.
Villa is a proud club with a proud history.
With the state of the current squad and the disdain of their current chairman, who knows when they'll be back in the top flight.
In our case. we have a chairman who is bit too interested in all the wrong ways. I've defended Cellino in the past but, I concede, if he screws up this transfer window, he really needs to go.
