Trust bamford. he's going to be class.

1.) 05 Sep 2018 09:47:06
Very bold, but a part of me agrees totally, give it 2 games where roofe doesn't score, bamford will be in. Personally think he might even start v milwall as he's got a bigger presence, roofe works so much harder and its commendable, but against boro bamford should have started, would have been hungrier to prove a point to pulis, would have loved to have 1 over on his old team mates, and has height but is still mobile, could have proved the difference. Begging for bamford to come good.

2.) 05 Sep 2018 12:37:26
Agree with both of you; he will come good when he gets his chance, but to have dropped Roofe for Boro would have been very harsh on the lad imo. The workrate he has been putting in, will however, mean he needs a break soon anyway I think.

3.) 06 Sep 2018 19:37:35
He reminds me a bit of Micheal Bridges when he first arrived. Tall and mobile. Understated. From a North East club. Where he had been playing second fiddle

Please please please can he flourish in a similar manner.

Worked on a house hopkins sold to a mate of mine. found a wage slip. take home was 37k.10k was appearance money. he left about 30k of fittings and furniture.
Don't think he was doing a moonlight with those kind of wages back thenwhen will that have been? can't remember.

1.) 05 Sep 2018 18:49:34
Please tell me that wasn’t his monthly take home and we weren’t paying him that a week.

2.) 05 Sep 2018 19:13:39
Monthly mate.

3.) 05 Sep 2018 19:34:53
Yeah, that’s what I meant but my spud fingers got then message wrong! About 9 grand a week - wonder what we pay nowadays.

For magic man Bielsa to start talking about bringing in this and that player would be against everything he's accomplishad so far.
He's a master at instilling self belief and confidence in individuals, which brings confidence and trust to the squad.
He said a few weeks ago he didn't need any additional signings but others at the club may feel different.
That was a hint that orta and radz were working on deals.
He is protecting his players.
He knows it could be a knock in confidence to a player if he feels someone is maybe going to replace him.
We don't need doubt in a players mind, when we are at this critical period in the campaign.
Masterful thinking from the man.
Imo we may just see 1 or 2 new
Recruits, but I will be happy either way. cheers lads.

1.) 07 Dec 2018 11:42:17
Good post Gilesy! This idea that you can flash the chequebook and instantly buy first class players that will fit harmoniously into the squad and improve the performance, particularly in Jan, doesn’t wash with me. It’s always easy to spend other people’s money.

You have to have faith in Bielsa, Orta and Radz! Of course all three want us to be in the premiership and they must think that this year we have at least a good sniff. Buy but right players, right attitude, right price.

It might be a good idea to pick up a few more “kids” for the under 23s as well. They can have a chance to perform there until the summer and we can see how good they are.

2.) 07 Dec 2018 14:33:51
Load of rubbish Giles.
Can’t agree with any of it.
Don’t understand your misguided logic.

3.) 07 Dec 2018 14:54:11
Good post Gilesy. Aus your full of it.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 15:22:34
Have you read your own posts corky?
There are sooo many words I could describe them and a few Ed’s have deleted.
If there was one leeds fan that baffles me. It would be you And that includes one leeds who was prob your mentor.

5.) 07 Dec 2018 16:15:25
Remember the Christmas spirit guys! I’m upset Aus, I want to baffle you as well!

6.) 07 Dec 2018 16:19:40
Bang on Gilesy! I think you summed up the situation perfectly! MB is not going to go out publicly, and undermine the players who have the opportunity and ability to play specific positions. Why would he!?

7.) 07 Dec 2018 16:25:21
Aus just wondering what your work background is and if you have ever managed people for a living?
It is a skill and has a huge effect on team/ people engagement and high engagement equals better results from a team.
To me that is why Bielsa has been able to turn an average group into contenders. They are engaged and believe in his methods.
De-stabilizing that team by talk of replacing some of them will no doubt affect that engagement and results.
If we sign anyone I expect the official announcement will be the first we hear about it for that reason.

8.) 07 Dec 2018 17:08:58
Aus I don’t believe it would take much to baffle you.
I’ll leave it at that as I don’t want to confuse you anymore.

9.) 07 Dec 2018 17:33:35
Canada “ work background? ” he’s an Australian! That would be too much like Hard Yakka to the dole bludgers!
Mind you I haven’t got Aus down as a Larrikin or a drongo, more like a root rat, I reckon!

10.) 07 Dec 2018 19:55:39
Nice one Spanish, prepare for the retort from our commonwealth cousin.

11.) 07 Dec 2018 21:18:52
I know, I did think he would be tucked up in bed! Might not notice!

12.) 07 Dec 2018 23:30:37
Maybe I am just another misguided Aussie, but it looked to me like Ausman was taking the p1ss.

01 Dec 2018 20:50:38
Magic man bielsa, takes a big knock like the w. brom result then gets 3 wins and 3 clean sheets in response.
This game could've been similar to west Brom, SU were obviousmy told to give us a physical test.
Bielsa got the team to cope with that. can see why SU are doing well, organised and direct. we more than coped and the quality football was played by us. don't underestimate our injuries and our young lads thrown in to the toughest league going.
Testament to magic man, his coaches, the owner and his crew. never forgetting the greatest fans in the land.
Cheers lads.

{Ed025's Note - nice one gilesy..

1.) 01 Dec 2018 21:14:37
Cheers Ed.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 22:50:00
Gilesy Bielsa is a rapid learner and a proven winner. Makes a change from Hockagarbage and Mandagarbage.

3.) 02 Dec 2018 04:19:01
The way our young'uns fronted was indeed impressive. They had the blowtorch on the y-fronts but were not daunted. Bielsa had confidence in them which bred confidence in themselves. This comes from what they cover in training meetings and on the training paddock. None of this comes into play by accident. Bielsa is smart, methodical and inspiring.

4.) 02 Dec 2018 17:38:06
“Fronted”, as in “fronted up”? Now there’s a proper Kiwi / rugby phrase!

01 Dec 2018 15:01:34
Wilder and brown watching with blinkers on.
Great win well deserved.
Got to mention dallas had 1 of his best games in a leeds shirt.
KP mom again. he's no good against good teams, I'm sure someone keeps telling us.
If we only had a proper forward. Cheers lads.

1.) 01 Dec 2018 15:32:42
I thought BPF looked dodgy and Halme out of his depth. Dallas played ok and was helped by playing wing back.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 15:51:06
Don’t mind “dodgy “ or “ out of his depth” when we win and keep a clean sheet. Both Bailey and Aapo also had some good moments! How many our other CBS have been able to keep Sharp quiet in previous games!

Of course Aapo was going to find it hard but he has now had two good tastes of First team football including most of a game at Bramall Lane. Got to be good for him and the team!

Think their keeper had an even dodgier moment!

3.) 01 Dec 2018 16:02:42
Dallas was good today, and KP excellent again. Yes, BPF had a couple of dodgies, but also made some great saves too. Good game to watch!

{Ed025's Note - great result BW, is it just me or do leeds look a better side away from home?..

4.) 01 Dec 2018 17:16:07
Kids make mistakes

Omdz Aapo will be an outstanding player as will BPF.

01 Dec 2018 13:29:08
Ref completely bottled it 1st half.

26 Nov 2018 20:31:39
Because we've had some quite poor keepers in recent years . it's become a major talking point and i know that's the reason we come on here, to put our point and opinions across.
Imo keepers are all open to errors, the best of them do it, all their careers. keepers improve once they have the belief from there defence, i think they are in the spotlight more than a striker. both positions rely on confidence, a striker has more self belief, a keeper gets it from the back four. we have seen the doubt our defence has had in recent keepers and the panic the defenders have shown by not trusting our number 1.
Bpf looks to have lost a bit of trust in recent games from back 4, so was about to be dropped. doesn't make him a bad keeper though. he will learn from it. our fans will be all over huffer once he makes a few errors.
Been following Leeds fanaticaly for 45 plus years and i don't think we've ever had a truly brilliant goalie
Some decent, some ok, some good,
And a few real shi--e. its the nature of the position. the outfield 10 get you promoted.
The goalie will win and lose you a few games. cheers lads.

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree gilesy, i will excuse you on gary sprake and david harvey as you are probably too young to remember them, but the likes of nigel martyn and john lukic were excellent keepers mate..

1.) 26 Nov 2018 20:57:44
You picked exactly the two names who sprang to my mind Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - they would spring to anyone,s mind TS because they were top notch mate..

2.) 26 Nov 2018 21:03:19
Put them both in decent category. been going since 76.Not had a brilliant 1 imo.
Those 2 probably best up to present. my old man said sprake was unbelievable on his day but prone to big boo boo's.

{Ed025's Note - i would say a lot better than decent gilesy, gary sprake was an excellent keeper imo and the odd boo boo would be when a 16 stone CF would be allowed to barge him when he had the ball and get away with it mate or kick it out of his hands, in the 60,s he was probably one of the top 3 keepers in europe..

3.) 26 Nov 2018 21:23:09
Robbie was ok too and I have a soft spot for Kasper. Met Martyn once in Bibi's at the bottom of town. Top chappy.

4.) 26 Nov 2018 21:35:44
Can remember watching saturday football show when i was a kid about goalie bloopers and sprake threw it in his own net and completely missed another couple.
My point is e'd. all keepers make big mistakes from time to time, next minute they keep you in a game with a worldy
I, d rather have a class back 4
And an ok keeper than the other way around cheers.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..

5.) 27 Nov 2018 01:59:50
Nigel Martyn, David Harvey, Paul Robinson there's 3 top notch keepers without even thinking about it.

6.) 27 Nov 2018 07:31:19
Before all European games were televised and LUFC were in Europe every year, Rod Belfitt told me that Sprake won Leeds a lot of backs to the wall games with some brilliant performances. He did make a couple of high profile boobs which unfortunately for him were televised, but in my opinion he was a top keeper. So was David Harvey, Lukic, Martyn and Robinson to name but a few. Probably the worst one that got away has to be David Seaman.

7.) 27 Nov 2018 09:03:23
right as an amazing goalkeeper myself i appoint myself as most qualified to comment (takes one to know one and all that)

martyn was class for years great shot stopper very consistent, that leeds team was largley down to his saves

kasper schiemcle won the league with a unfanciced team, makes the odd mistake but very consistent and as good a shot stopper as thier is in the world over last few years

robinson was class, great all round game, devleoped young, consistent good shot stopper

john lukic a footballing god, only man to win top flight with two different teams, great shot stopper, amazing on one on ones. around 88-92 he was one the of best and should of been england number 1. played in four different decades. didn't cope with the back pass rule but until then was an amazing goalkeepper and anyone who says otherwise i will hunt you down and KP you (kp means nut you and break your legs so you can not run. yes even on a keeper post i get old KP in. boom)

Bermondsey, got to put your hands up when you've got it wrong.
I felt the same about kp last season and I'm happy to be proved wrong. He's been 1st or
2nd best performer in our last 5/ 6 games, don't think it's a fluke, just great man management and coaching plus a player willing to learn and improve and improve he as!
Getting boring, you repeating yourself again and again. get behind the lad.
