Gary McCallister is being touted according to the BBC. I would be quite happy giving him another chance. After all a lot of his signings went on to bigger and better things. Who knows with the right backing he could do a decent job.

JT

1.) Totally agree JT. With proper backing, and I don't mean millions upon millions, Macca could the man. MOT.

2.) GMac? why not, could do a lot worst.

3.) I remember what a great job he did last time[not] and the style of play we played I remember myself thinking at the time what a legend he was as a player one of the best we ever had but he's no manager I would like gibbs to get it bellythewhite

4.) 06 Jun 2014 19:20:24
The 3 British managers being interviewed are: Gary McAllister, Dave Hockaday and Chris Hughton.
LUFC

5.) 06 Jun 2014 19:30:23
Of the two names we "know" about, mac and hokeycokey, third unknown, I'd prefer GMac but it's all social media speculation. Only MC knows who's on his wanted list but I think an appointment is imminent

6.) Great players don't make great managers
he struggled in league 1
Sorry not for me

7.) The football we played was excellent, 5-1 up away to Chester at HT ring any bells? Oh and who found Snodgrass?

He would need backing by Cellino though

8.) Tim Sherwood for me.

9.) Who are chester do you remember histon in the f.a cup

10.) I think he may have had family problems last time he was in charge as well. I'd like to give him another chance.

11.) Also our king pin Beckford didn't play in that game. he woulda scored 3 easily that day.

12.) Raydon
Think sherwood should stick to his curry sauces, not done anything as a manager for me I'm afraid.

7 points lost in 3 home games after dominating those games for me is the difference between the playoffs and automatic promotion. I hear people saying it’s early days, but I can’t suffer the heartbreak of last season again.

We have the manager, we have the players and we have fantastic fans. Bielsa needs to be a little less stubborn and look at a starting change. I have put Bamfords misfortunes down to bad luck, but as much work as he does there has to come a time when he needs to sit one out.

I heard somebody say leaving the match if Bamford had been playing anywhere other than number 9 he would have walked away with man of the match. I kind of agree, unfortunately his job is to put them in the onion bag. Hernandez was poor, again. My player of the season last time out, but dare I say it he looks like it’s one season too many for him at the mo.

Unfortunately I don't think you can attribute Bamford's finishing to bad luck but rather poor form/ confidence in front of goal. The formation/ tactics created enough chances to win the game but again we did not take them. I am increasingly questioning the stubborn attitude of Bielsa with regards to playing a striker who is struggling to score, a winger in Harrison who could not cross a road and failing to see that something is not right with Hernandez. The difference this season is that we have solutions in the squad but he is reluctant to start with them, yet he has identified that our ability to take chances is the issue but has done little to address it from the start. I was watching EFL show on Quest and they were talking about the manager at QPR who prefers a 4-2-3-1 system but has sacrificed it because he has identified that Hugil and Wells are more effective as a pair. The philosophy had been adjusted to account for the resources available.

2.) 22 Sep 2019 10:06:01
Maybe bamfords best position should be in midfield? Why not play him there and Eddie up top!

3.) 22 Sep 2019 10:16:39
Bamford as the No 10? Worth consideration.

4.) 22 Sep 2019 10:18:11
I believe he is picking Harrison and Bamford on blind optimism and a missguided loyalty rather than utilising the statistics that clearly show it is time for some sort of change. The saddest case is poor Pablo, being picked on last years form and the hope that in one game he will, at last, come alive.

Just got back from two weeks in the sun to this bombshell. Trying to catch up on recent events so at LUFC. Before going away I thought all we need to do is do business straight away, whether that was with or without Monk. Uddersfield got it right last close season. They got players in early doors and got them playing together. By the time we hit our purple patch, they were steaming away. I liked Monk and to be fair he did well with a team that other than a good defence and a 20+ striker would have otherwise struggled. Considering we had 12 + midfielders to choose from I don't know how we didn't get that right. However, he's gone, so get the new man in and fingers crossed.

Yesterday was very very poor and it wasn't just us. All I've heard from Town fans at work is how they push on and attack. One of them said to me if you don't like it in your face, you'll struggle. Well that was rubbish, because thay sat back and came for a point. One strike settled it. They were as rubbish as us, but being the home side you would have liked to see more urgency. Monk needs to decide on his best 11. I don't think he'll get the push especially if these takeover rumours are true, unless that is the new owners have a man in mind. We need to win Tuesday now regardless. Apart from QPR I don't think we've been hammered in a game, we're just a bit toothless.

Mate, they had over 60% possession. They couldn't have been as bad as us.

With the window closing date fast approaching, how do people think we have faired it the transfer matket? Have we done good business? Which areas are you happy with and which areas are we still short?

JT

1.) 27 Aug 2016 08:51:07
I think we've done well. Pablo and Keemar the highlights. Happier with the defence now. Another CB and maybe a midfielder and I reckon were done.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 10:53:50
I know we've got three keepers, but I'm still not sure any of them are really that great.
The defence looks better than last season so we should concede less.
The attacking options look better than last season so we should score more.
Someone once said football is a simple game so hopefully score more, concede less, then we should improve on last season (fingers crossed! )

3.) 27 Aug 2016 11:41:48
I like most of them, still not totally sure about Grimes. I'm sure he'll come good otherwise Monkey magic man wouldn't have signed an ex colleague and England U21 international.
If I were to choose 1, I like a goal scorer so I'd pick Antonsson. Think he maybe the 20 goal a season man we've been looking for.

Great counter attack play today. Bridcutt solid, Sakho still a little raw, but ran himself ragged and the defence for the second game running were immense including a solid performance from Green. Most satisfying thing for me today was the work rate of Wood. Yup Chris Wood who I have knocked so far was fantastic. Ran for everything bossed their defence and left the odd boot in, but to top it off he never stopped and got another goal.

I think Bielsa has passion for football. He would put the same dedicated effort anywhere he goes. He did a great job last year, but some would argue not good enough. If we don’t go up this season he will go. This is why such as Roofe and Phillips don’t really have any assurances about their future, after all this could be the managers last season. Phillips maybe not as much, as he would still command a decent move away if we fail, but Roofe?

That’s the pessimism out of the way. If we can get such as Gayle and keep the team fit, we’ll walk the league!

I agree with most of your post Hess. After what appeared to be just shy of miracle work to get us up there questionable decisions were made. We must be expecting new arrivals, as MB stated weeks ago he couldn’t take this current squad to the levels he has next season.

Spot on Kiwi Leeds. I didn’t understand their reasoning in letting him go to a rival during the season. Maybe at the end of season depending on who finishes where. I think they just wanted to distract us from concentrating on promotion.

Fingers crossed that our squad holds out and we go up. Big gamble not strengthening the squad, but if we do go up, then Bielsa is truly a genius.

I kind of agree with you Brightwhite. My mate and I had this conversation after the Forest game. Radz is doing all the right things off the field and if it did take a season or two to go up, we would be ready commercially for the Premier League. I do despair with our football sometimes. We can look great one game and average the next, but that's football. As Ausman states we do have a lot of players who aren't Premier league standard. What worries me there is a lot of them are on 4 year deals. We have a new left back, which was a priority. I do think we are a good striker away from staying in the top 6, so fingers crossed

If it is true then hopefully we have enough time to reinvest the cash. Hopefully as Canadawhite states TC will have already been working behind the scenes. It's a pity if we lose him, because I do feel we could have given him better service this year, but the right replacement will do just as well. 15M + add ons ain't a bad piece of business. I for one the season before last would have taken a lot less. I noticed on Tuesday he was getting very frustrated with the service he was getting which is something I didn't see last season.

Whiteman, I think MB will go if we don’t get promoted, but we’re not out of it yet. We need cover up front, but there ain’t that many great goal scorers out there up for sale / loan. Personally I don’t think we’ll get anybody. The best we can hope for is Bamford doesn’t get injured and he goes on a purple patch.

I hope we can get them playing together. They offer different options. Eddie is a prospect no doubt. Look at the goal and look at both Eddie and Bamfords positioning. Eddie nipped through the defence and was on hand to tap in, Bamford dropped back and Costa t could have easily passed it to him (Whether he would have scored is another matter :) ) . Seriously, if Bamford is to continue playing and in my opinion he should, playing two up front will benefit us no end.

When they say new signings and salaries, does salaries include the current crop we have? We seem to be shipping a few out, but I reckon our current wage bill will be sizeable. Bet that eats most of the season ticket funds.

I agree Al. Pontus was shocking Saturday. I thought he’d relish a physical battle, but he bottled it.

I'd love to see Bartley back, but the guy is getting on with things at Swansea. Woody for 20 mill. I'd take that now, especially with us looking to play more attacking football. Happy if he stays too. Win win for me.
