Rumour that Klich is fly into Leeds for talks

NottsWhite

He signed this morning

Rumour that we are about to sign Sacko for €2m. Does anyone else think that it is a bit pricey ?

NottsWhite

1.) 28 May 2017 12:17:46
Hope not. Way to pricey. Not good enough? Anyway. Whose making that decision. I would expect owner to sit down with new manager and director of football and make a joint dec on who stays and goes. Not make the dec on hos own.

2.) 28 May 2017 12:47:06
Think it's a good deal. A lot of potential is there, if we can harness it right. He needs to be allowed to attack, Monk's defensive tactics held him back, and I think he can easily hit 10 goals. Offers far more than Dallas, who is vastly overrated by some fans.

3.) 28 May 2017 13:06:36
Cheap imo, with the money flying around lately. Sacko can improve.

4.) 28 May 2017 14:27:16
Bargain

5.) 28 May 2017 15:42:23
Sadly I agree Vinny, the money trickling down from the prem has pushed player values up so £1.7m really isn't a lot in the current market. The thing is I think its an over spend based on last season but if he can add 4 goals and 4 assists next term, which is only 1 of each every 11 games or so, he suddenly looks a real bargain. As for the decision Aus my guess is because we had an agreed price that was set to run out when his loan officially does (I'm guessing the day after the playoff final, which just happens to be today) so we couldn't wait on it. I would guess he has gone on the advice of the assistant and the coaches as to where Sacko's game is and where they think it can get to.

6.) 28 May 2017 15:42:33
Notts, not pricey. Martyn is correct. Sacko cannot cross, play the right pass and doesn't get enough assists or goals but add to that "just yet". In his favour, he is fast as fork. What does 1.7m get you these days? Perhaps the new manager can teach him new skills. I'd have triggered the permanent buy option too. Our squad requires thickening out no doubt.

7.) 28 May 2017 16:02:37
Sorry tomorrow for the playoff final, got my dates wrong, either way, same point.

8.) 28 May 2017 22:14:34
Bargain. Pace scares defenders to death. He's still young enough to improve the rest of his game. On Dallas, does he he still play for us I can't remember?

9.) 29 May 2017 12:29:23
Think it can only be a good sign if we are spending that sort of money on squad players.

22 Apr 2017 18:40:59
Monk and the team lacked the courage of their convictions today as our "have a go" attitude did not muster an attempt on target for over 80 mins.

I agree that the current formation has got us this far however we have been worked out for a few months now and I am unsure as to whether Monk does not trust the current players to play another way or he is personally incapable of changing his philosophy.

That being said he had over achieved with an average squad and that should be recognised. History has repeated itself through a lack of investment in January has left us short

NottsWhite

1.) 23 Apr 2017 11:44:23
Certainly I have said, over the weeks that "Don't let them score" is Monk's first thoughts. We have never looked like a 4-0 team but having said that, if we had obtained promotion with boring 1-0 wins then I for one would not be complaining. There have been too many games where we have been outplayed but have salvaged a draw or a win against the odds. Let's hope that the close season sees a shake up (which may be forced on us by departures) . Next season will see more of a Monk's team and whilst I agree, build from the back, I hope that he finds a tight, forward thinking, midfield with a few goals in them. I am hoping now that the hardest working employees in Leeds are the scouts looking, searching and planning for next year.

Pablo Hernandez rumoured to be signing. This would represent a high quality signing for the Championship.

NottsWhite

1.) 31 Jul 2016 20:34:05
High quality signing would have been pitchard. Quality.

2.) 02 Aug 2016 17:38:03
Pritchard along with Txeira who Brighton had on loan from Liverpool, two best players I've seen in Championship. Would have eclipsed all our signings so far but we haven't shown that extra ambition and have missed out on him. He's off to Brighton.

25 Jul 2016 13:04:03
Midfielder to be signed in next 24 hours but not Bridcutt.

NottsWhite

1.) 25 Jul 2016 13:44:58
who then?

2.) 25 Jul 2016 14:24:04
Have been linked with a couple of people (including - Pritchard from Spurs on loan, Flamini, Lazzari and Leon Osman) but looks most likely to be Hamburgs Swedish international Albin Ekdal (26) . Good player, definite quality (has also played for Juventus) but has had a lot of problems with injuries over the last couple of years. Would be a risk to sign him but we could end up with a top player on the cheap if he is past the worst of it.

3.) 25 Jul 2016 14:24:31
Nor is it Ekdal apparently?!?

4.) 25 Jul 2016 14:53:39

Journo that posted the initial tweet supposedly posted an update saying it was someone for the U21s. Most likely that lad from Reading that we have had on trial (Conor Shaughnessy) then at a guess?

Really disappointed with Orta's comments as to why the Japanese signing has been immediately loaned out despite having a work permit. To suggest that he would currently struggle to get a game ahead of our current midfielders shows a naivety as to their current performance level and sets a low bar (perhaps unfairly) to the abilities of our new recruit. The comment about the J League season finishing in December therefore his fitness levels may be not at peak also is odd. I accept that a full season is taxing however is the J League that difficult ? Also December ended only 11 days ago, how much fitness has this recruit lost in 11 days ?

Yesterday's game was totally embarrassing for all Leeds fans. Comparisons will be drawn to last year's result at Sutton however this for me was worse as the team TC put onto the pitch were players from the first team squad, not a load of kids as of last year. The effort and endeavour from most of the players was appalling (except Berardi) as they were out worked and out played by a side that were near the bottom of league 2 last season. Special mention for Borthwick-Jackson and Lassoga who took being not bothered to an entirely new level, both of these players should be shipped back to their clubs post haste. It seemed that the player's had in their minds that they just needed to turn up against a side that we had comfortably beat in the League Cup not 6 months ago. This attitude stems from a naïve Head Coach who obviously had not studied the opposition or the environment in which the game was being played. If he had done his homework he would not have matched a physical Frank Nouble against the snowflake that is Vernon Anita, he would have thought about how to supply two Centre forwards with creativity in midfield, he would have considered being a tad more direct as the pitch represented a farmer's field. "Blame me" says TC. "I made a number of changes and it worked against Burnley" says TC. It worked because Burnley also changed most of their team and neither side had any continuity in their play. To make matters worse, out idiot of a Head Coach decides to rest the majority of our starting eleven (why they need 2 weeks rest is beyond me) but decides to bring on our Jewel in a game that did not suit his abilities, the result being he gets sent off and banned for 6 weeks. Try telling us now TC that you think the squad is good enough and no recruitments are required in January without you best player until the back end of February.

NottsWhite

1.) 08 Jan 2018 14:18:56
Good post Notts. Like you say, TC's major error was bringing on Saiz. He double downed on his mistakes. Worryingly, there is a lack of passion and a lack of steel in this team. CBJ was a terrible addition to the squad and as for PML his laziness is infecting the rest of the first team when they play. Makes you think what is going on during training? This is the most crucial transfer window probably in our history because playoffs or 2nd still achievable.

2.) 08 Jan 2018 14:29:01
Well said Notts, but sadly nothing looks like changing. Another few weeks and our season could well be over at this rate

3.) 08 Jan 2018 15:27:54
Good posts above, but you can not blame TC for Saiz’s sending off. You don’t expect any footballer to spit at an opponent never mind a professional. That habit is disgusting and he deserves his six week ban, Saiz can be very petulant when he wants. If he had set up a goal or two instead of letting himself, the club, fans and the sport down would TC have come in for the stick he is getting for that decision? I think not. However, i do blame TC for making too many changes and making our club a laughing stock again.

4.) 08 Jan 2018 16:32:34
Speedo there were a lot of changes but I don't remember an outcry prior to kick off. That team, on paper, were still good enough to beat a mid table league two outfit. The pitch/ploughed field was not conducive to a passing game so we had to swap skill for guts and determination. That blatantly did not happen.

04 Nov 2017 21:59:31
Those posters with unwavering support for TC, what are you seeing that others aren't that he can turn this poor run of performances and results around ? I agree that the grass is not always greener but surely it cannot be based on blind faith alone ?

NottsWhite

1.) 04 Nov 2017 22:18:04
It's not blind faith it's based on earlier performances and seeing that we've been unlucky in a few games

2.) 04 Nov 2017 22:28:28
Sorry Notts but that statement is a contradiction in itself. In that blind faith leads other posters to miraculously believe a change of Manager will suddenly improve the situation? What can any coach do before January? ilook to use what we already which we know is limited. I can see a coach has to show loyalty to his team but I think even TC must have realised he needs to change things after tonight . Of course that means the likes of Klich, Nessie and Dallas back in BUT even then that may mean more difficult days but then any new coach would face the same dilemma. But then there’s always the new Coach lift that teams often experience such as Leicester, but then Crystal Palace probably thought the same. It’s a gamble but I’m still for keeping TC myself. Not blind faith just a reasoned assessment of our situation.

3.) 04 Nov 2017 22:46:07
In addition to the Co92 and Wex, I would like to add that we have had more managers and instability in the club to last us a lifetime. I don’t think replacing him at this point does anything for the team or the club. Give him the break to work it out and then let’s see if we can get back on track. Yes he is learning and yes we will need some new players in during the Jan window. My personal opinion is stick with him till Xmas if he can’t crack it by then, it’s time for Radz and his team to take more drastic action! Let’s not be too hasty, we know he can produce. MOT

4.) 04 Nov 2017 23:28:11
I'm not saying TC is the answer but it doesn't matter who is in charge of players are going to kee making the mistakes they are. Tonight Lonergan at fault for 2 goals whilst Jansson gave a stupid penalty away which could have cost us too. Against Derby ref gave a poor decision for the 2nd goalathoigh Sakho was stupid with the tackle whilst for the 1st Ayling was miles out position and Roofe didn't follow his runner. Agaisnt Sheff Utd for the 1st goal Saiz watched his man get away from him and cross the ball whilst Pennington let his man get away for a tap in. The second goal Ayling was at fault in exactly the same way as he was for Reading's winner. At Sheff Wed Felix bottled the first, Pennington lost his header for the 2nd and O'Kane set them up for the 3rd. Doesn't matter who is in charge if the players keep making stupid mistakes, we'll kee getting punished. If we're honest there were similar mistakes made in the early games but we got away with it. At Bolton we gave 2 goals away with poor marking for one and a silly penalty for the other. Anyone at the Fulham, PNE, Ipswich and Birmingham home games could see we gave away about as many chances as we created.

5.) 05 Nov 2017 08:01:47
I don't necessarily think a change is the answer but based on the responses provided I am still not convinced that the rest of you have a logical reason apart from hope. Performances in the first few games is fine but we have been worked out and TC does little to change what he is was doing in the first few games. Changing a manager can create instability but losing week in week out does nothing for the confidence. Giving TC some more players in Jan might be helpful but only if they are the right players and if TC is prepared to use them.

6.) 05 Nov 2017 09:39:52
Stop bickering and startgettimg behind them. There hurting too and need our support to come through this badrun

7.) 05 Nov 2017 09:54:46
Well I did try and give you my own reasons Notts, transfer window closed until Jan and no guarantee of success of appointing a new coach. But who? If someone told me that Guardiola great grandma originated from Leeds I’m happy to change my current opinion. I certainly thought as Brentford third goal went in oh god we got to change. But then you take a moment and say who is available that we would want and would make a difference? For me it’s certainly not blind faith and hopefully not ignorance. But rather than people castigate those of us saying stick with him for now, where is the reasoned argument to the contrary? Curahee made some good points and did offer some names, now if Big Sam (can’t stand the bloke) said he’d come and get us up, I would probably back the appointment because personal reasons aside he does turn teams around. But until that happens it’s great to have differences of opinion that’s what makes this such a great Banter Site

Positives from Saturday's game: 1. we had 55% possession 15 attempts 6 on target (used Wex stats) , 2. 33K attended the game. 3. Lonergan played ok and gave the defence some confidence in their keeper 4. Saiz tried to make things happen but was targeted by the opposition. Negatives from Saturday's game: 1. Lost the match, 2. Having the majority of possession is only beneficial if you do something with it. 3. Substitutions were like for like and showed no innovation/risk to change the status quo, which was not working. 5. Midfield was short for the third game running with O'Kane too deep and Phillips too far forward.

NottsWhite

1.) 16 Oct 2017 18:27:15
Don't remember there keeper making a save of note all game (inc pen, which was embarrassing) . out of the 55% I would say cooper and Jaanson had 10% of that between them and passing to lonergen. Phillips hid on Saturday, lassoga is lazy and tbh probably needs some help up there, sacko gave us a lift when he came on, there's a lot of work to do, I would say our main fault is the build up play is so slow, ayling and Beradi don't get fwd, Taylor had quite a few assists for wood last yr and we are def missing his over lapping runs on the left. reading came to spoil, there game plan worked and we had no plan b, line you say, subs were like for like

2.) 17 Oct 2017 18:09:37
He didn't make a meaningful save. As for 55% possession that was pontus, cooper and Lonergan who had all the posession as they played a game of don't give me it I don't want want it.

27 Sep 2017 12:48:44
Last night the selection did not make sense. In theory, playing Roofe up front was to allow quick interchange of passing (on the floor) to bypass their obvious physicality. In reality, Roofe went missing as he is not a focal point when playing up front and Bamba sat in front of the centre defence and shielded any balls played to Roofe. Hernandez being moved to centre attacking midfield made no sense as he has enjoyed the freedom (and lack of close attention) whilst playing on the left wing, I also feel that Hernandez is not physically capable of playing games on Saturday and then Tuesday. Saiz would have ripped Bamba to pieces with his all action style. To leave two of our best players in Lassoga and Saiz out for a top of the table clash was utter madness and contributed to a laboured passing display. PS. Cooper getting sent off did not help matters but the damage was already done by then.

Don't talk nonsense BW. Even if Jansson was fit Monk would have put him on the bench. Rumour being that Jansson and Ayling had a training ground bust up which Monk tried to separate but Jansson laid hands on Monk. Totally unacceptable from Jansson but he paid the price by being dropped for the Brighton game. Monk needs to discipline the play but should not cut off his nose to spite his face.

If the right player to improve the squad becomes available, at a reasonable price, then you should sign him irrelevant of the window you are in. Improving a squad window upon window is the key to promotion instead of signing 7 or 8 players in one go and hoping that they will instantly gel
