Hefele picked up by Forest from Huddersfield for £300k. Not the most cultured centre back but leaves nothing on the pitch. Given our lack of defensive cover this should have been a no brainer.

1.) 10 Aug 2018 00:34:45
I think Radz, Victor and Angus started the Ayling to WBA rumour so we all concentrate on keeping him and forget aobut incomings . Jokin' aside, I'm happy to trust MB with the squad. I rather he turns our current crop into Championship beaters - I've spent so much of my time cheering on this lot, I'd prefer the familiar faces (albeit fustrating at times) to do well over new signings! . MOT.

27 Jul 2018 09:32:34
Rumour that the penny has finally dropped and that the club are looking for another central defender. Danny Batth of Wolves has been mentioned. Probably could pick him up for a decent price and provides greater aerial presence than Cooper.

1.) 27 Jul 2018 11:59:03
Hope so Notts! Would be a good signing IMO.

2.) 27 Jul 2018 13:22:43
We ought to be looking at a better Cooper, namely Jake at Millwall.

3.) 28 Jul 2018 10:45:08
Leeds in for bamford according to SSPNEWS. Is this an assumption that Vydra will not be signing? Surely we won’t be signing both?

01 Jul 2018 11:07:52
Rumours that Leeds bringing in Vydra, another striker (either Hernandez or Jerry) , a goalkeeper (Blackman) , a centre back (Bartley or more likely Egan from Brentford) and a left back ( either Bryan or Garbutt)

1.) 01 Jul 2018 13:47:14
Three Bs for me please

06 Feb 2018 15:19:21
With the lack of defensive cover, what formation do you think Hecky to start with on Saturday ? Going to throw a curve ball and suggests he starts with 3-5-2. Pennington, De Bock and someone from U23s. Dallas left wing back, either Anita or Alioski right wing back. Hernandez with Forshaw and Phillips/Viera in middle and Lassoga and Roberts up front. Pennington seems more comfortable in a three and if an U23 is introduced at the back it might take the pressure off being in a three

1.) 06 Feb 2018 16:21:13
Low on centre backs so you want to start with three of them?

2.) 06 Feb 2018 18:45:52
Felix, Anita, Pennington, DeBock, Dallas, Viera, Forshaw, Phillips
Hernandez, Roofe, Alioski Subs: Roberts, Cibicki, Lasogga, Sacko, Peacock, ? Two of the forwards would need to make it 5 in midfield to win the ball back. Felix should just boot it long as his passing is crap. Easy on paper!

3.) 07 Feb 2018 08:12:03
442 Notts. Time to get back to basics.

23 Jun 2017 11:34:14
Rumour that Klich is fly into Leeds for talks

1.) 23 Jun 2017 12:44:23
He signed this morning

Phillips was poor and on a booking and got hooked. Right decision by Bielsa but it gives me no joy in seeing it. Saying that Phillips will eventually have a poor game does not make you Nostradamus. We all know that Phillips will put inconsistent performances in as he has form for it. When a better player is available to play the role Phillips does then I trust Bielsa to make the right choice.

1.) 22 Aug 2018 07:51:00
It tells me we need radz to get his wallet out and get ryan woods in on loan to buy.

2.) 22 Aug 2018 07:58:11
Notts seeing any leeds player playing bad gives no joy but seein MB make a brave early call and us geting point as result gives me great joy

it don't make me nosradums but does make all my post that i got jumped on for a good point doesn't it?

He played poorly agsint stoke and could of cost us at least two goals and a red card, then derby he costs us a goal. and i said against a better team he wil lcost us, against a better team he ain't good enough. then tonight happened.

nustradums. no. having a point and maybe comments against me befoe harsh. yeah maybe.

3.) 22 Aug 2018 09:05:10
Well said Notts! I’m with you, there is a difference between constructive criticism when it is due and just going out to destroy one of our own players, let’s leave that to the fans of other teams!

29 Jul 2018 20:23:31
Went to the game and left after 75 mins so missed Roofe's goal. Even with Jansson and Douglas we would still require a couple more players (Bamford will help) . Height of the team still remains the issue as only Cooper registered being over 6ft. I like how we are trying to knock the ball about but their is a time and a place. Sides will press Peacock Farrell therefore he needs to take less risks. The loss of Forshaw is a big one as Viera struggles to play the box to box role. Klich is a better passer but lacks any mobility and therefore you have both him and Phillips playing deep which leaves a massive void in midfield. Roofe was feeding on scraps but does little for me to assert himself on the game. Our final ball is generally left wanting from the flanks or from Saiz who looks off the place. I like Hernandez but I do not think he will be able to contribute for an entire Championship season. Berardi although I praise his spirit he is not a centre back. Apologies for sounding negative but in the 75 mins I watched I thought we huffed and puffed against a side that still has a couple of weeks of pre-season. Positives - Phillips is better in a clearly defined role but needs to cut out the Hollywood passes. Baker looks a good touch player and will be effective driving past the centre forward. Douglas and Ayling with give us quality from the wing back roles. Cooper looks like he is learning about positioning and retaining possession. Roberts could provide some threat running with the ball. We need quality to create chances and some to finish them.

1.) 29 Jul 2018 21:02:07
IMO we need Maddison he would be THE signing of the summer.

2.) 29 Jul 2018 21:15:22
Nothing wrong with your honest opinion mate. A balanced view in my humble opinion. I wasn’t there so appreciate the feedback.

3.) 29 Jul 2018 21:42:05
Thank you for the helpful analysis Notts.

4.) 29 Jul 2018 21:56:59
Sign Bamford and use the cash saved on vydra to get Maddison and sell saiz to Valencia or Getafe and use remaining money to sign Tammy Abraham, see who else we can get in on loan tbh I’d let Roofe go to wba if it’s upward of 7m . There’s still work to be done but having been today we look better than last season although a little toothless, klich looked decent in the middle .

5.) 30 Jul 2018 00:05:20
Good idea Dleedsm. Abraham is class.

22 Jul 2018 15:48:36
Watched game on LUTV. Leeds showed some good passing movements and looked to break quickly but Roofe does not provide enough threat as the central striker. Defensively we look poor from crosses on corners and set pieces.

1.) 22 Jul 2018 16:26:41
Notts Agreed. Bielsa in for rude awakening unless recruitment goes well in next couple of weeks. We're absolutely screaming out for a central defender and target man.

2.) 22 Jul 2018 16:30:18
Roofe looks more dangerous when we try to play thro their defence, as opposed to the hopeful crosses we played too often. definitely need a target man! And yes, very poor defensively against set pieces. Cooper is only a back up, so we need to invest in a partner for Pontus, or a really strong loanee.

3.) 22 Jul 2018 19:12:22
I'm struggling to understand why people are so fickle and picky over a friendly. He's shuffling his pack and prob knows what he needs and orta will deliver when he finds a agent who will deliver his little brown envelope to him.

4.) 22 Jul 2018 21:42:34
Fickle and picky you say? A bit like that disappeared club £20m warchest at the ready. Bielsa can shuffle the pack all he likes. De Bock isn't good enough, Alioski poor and we have a defence which contains Cooper. Get me better players Martyn.

5.) 22 Jul 2018 22:54:49
Season starts in 2 weeks Martyn, need to start to refine their template for the season.

6.) 22 Jul 2018 23:14:18
Have faith. There's a reason Bubba has the reputation he's got. I see this season being like last season in reverse. A slow start and a stronger finish. This could be the meds talking as I'm not usually this calm and your usually the last to panic George.

7.) 23 Jul 2018 00:01:05
That's correct Martyn and I'm not just yet since there are still 13 days to go before Stoke. I just feel we have departed from a normalized bread and butter approach. Someone to help Pontus and a target man. A new winger might be nice but those two recruits are essential. Pretty football alone doesn't win in this league and it's the alone as key word I'm afraid of.

8.) 23 Jul 2018 01:08:06
Well said Martyn, pre-season friendlies mean nowt apart from getting game time and seeing who can do what Bub wants 'em to do.

9.) 23 Jul 2018 06:27:19
I think we will get 2 in before Stoke George but by the time the game against Spanish team comes I think you have a better idea of his preferred team selection.

10.) 23 Jul 2018 10:35:13
Martyn you can shuffle the pack as much as you want but if someone has took all the Kings out its a waste of time playing.

20 Jul 2018 14:13:25
I understand that there is faith that the club will get some players in prior to the Stoke game (2 weeks on Sunday) . The fact of the matter is that in the second half of the season we were one of the worst performing teams in the division and currently we will be lining up with the majority of the same players (exception will be Baker and Blackman) . That does not fill me with confidence.

1.) 20 Jul 2018 14:31:24
Who are you telling, Notts? Everyone feels same. Mid-table mediocrity beckons if we're lucky. I can also see us being plagued by the same burnout experienced under TC.

2.) 20 Jul 2018 14:56:57
Just sharing my opinion for what it is worth George. Knowing what we currently know about the deficiencies of our current squad I would kill just to achieve mid table mediocrity. I cannot decide if the 3 stooges that run our club are either arrogant or ignorant regarding the perceived quality of the squad. We were probably the worst team in the division in the second half of the season and although Bielsa may be good he does not walk on water. Unless the situation dramatically improves we will be fighting relegation this season. Hate to say it but this is how I feel.

3.) 20 Jul 2018 15:19:50
Last year was a pussy cat league compared to this year. Good luck with mid table.
Some get it.
We don’t.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 15:39:08
Your feelings are entirely reasonable Notts. It's arrogance not ignorance. They know what they're doing. It's only a bit of a con just for right now in my opinion hence the #5yearplan. Radz' safe harbour runs out 2021. My guess is we'll see more money out of him in about a year.

12 Jul 2018 14:40:51
Read a post on twitter regarding our current transfer activity that made my think a bit. With a number of clubs under financial constraints with FFP, they have to sell before they can bring in players. Does that put Leeds in a strong position to pick players up for a reasonable price the closer they get to the window closing. Personally I think it is clutching at straws and we seem more bothered about the bottom line rather than having a competing squad, but it does provide food for thought ?

1.) 12 Jul 2018 14:52:42
Apart from Forest, who will be in FTP doodoo AGAIN next season, the only other clubs with anything to spend seem to be the relegated ones and, to a much lesser extent, us. Sounds you could be onto something Notts :)

2.) 12 Jul 2018 15:00:48
That is the point I have been making, the early bird does not always catch the best worm so to speak. There will be players from Championship clubs and the lower Premier league clubs becoming available to buy and also further down the line to loan that I think will serve our needs. And if other clubs have already spunked their budgets all the better. MOT

3.) 12 Jul 2018 16:13:22
Good posts but we must nevertheless try harder to land the Uruguayan goal machine, Wilson and our back line needs reinforcing because be it a 3 or a 4 we look weak there. I've also come to conclusion FFP only affects West Yorkshire clubs whose name begins with L. When has anyone been truly punished for blatant infringements? Moment we do it though the rule book will come out.

4.) 12 Jul 2018 20:56:25
A few clubs have been fined, Bournemouth for one, and QPR still owe the FL around £40M but apart from them . nowt

5.) 12 Jul 2018 21:21:12
Stafford So how come QPR are still trading? What would you do to a business who owed you £40m?

6.) 12 Jul 2018 22:20:46
If we owed 40 mill we, d be playing Sunday league football now under the name leeds city united

7.) 13 Jul 2018 00:15:16
I have no idea George, I keep googling QPR FTP fine but the latest thing I saw, and it was a few months back, their appeal to some court had failed but they were trying a different one. Why they still have their "golden ticket" is beyond me.

8.) 13 Jul 2018 13:35:52
Bournemouth were fined about £4.5 million - hardly a punishment if the risk brings the £120million premier TV deals is it? If someone siad they would give me £120 in return for a fiver i'd take it.

9.) 13 Jul 2018 15:44:58
Fines for football clubs are usually like that, absolutely ridiculous. Should be point deductions, but that would have to be whenever the club gets relegated.

I have read articles that state Bielsa is happy with his central defensive options and only wants a left back and a striker. I hope this is not the case as we will be severely expose if injuries/ suspensions occur. Also I believe I am right in that we have conceded in the last two friendlies from corners. Does not bode well.

Why would he give up this cushy gig ? The tail is wagging the dog with regards to his relationship with Radz. Orta is Teflon with regards to the poor performances from the players he has brought in and cannot be judged on the U23s for at least a couple of years. Why go to a club where he may be judged on actual results ? Utter madness

I have to disagree about Roberts looking lively in pre-season, as he started late, was behind the pace of the team with abject passing ability. Admittedly he was playing on the wing and not his natural position. I also hope that he has improved whilst on the training ground and I hope he proves me wrong, but I think he requires a season at this level (like Roofe) to get to the standard required. We have limited options and I would have brought another striker in during the window as we only had 2 recognised experienced first team strikers and Roofe has not lasted a season whilst playing for us. Apologies for the negativity but I genuinely feel that we have made a mistake with cover for strikers and these are the players that win you games.

Morison is a disgrace. He gets himself up for the game against us because he believes that he was hard done by in a Leeds shirt. Fact of the matter, it is the supporters who had to endure his lacklustre performances for Leeds who should feel hard done by.
