With the lack of defensive cover, what formation do you think Hecky to start with on Saturday ? Going to throw a curve ball and suggests he starts with 3-5-2. Pennington, De Bock and someone from U23s. Dallas left wing back, either Anita or Alioski right wing back. Hernandez with Forshaw and Phillips/Viera in middle and Lassoga and Roberts up front. Pennington seems more comfortable in a three and if an U23 is introduced at the back it might take the pressure off being in a three

1.) 06 Feb 2018 16:21:13
Low on centre backs so you want to start with three of them?

2.) 06 Feb 2018 18:45:52
Felix, Anita, Pennington, DeBock, Dallas, Viera, Forshaw, Phillips
Hernandez, Roofe, Alioski Subs: Roberts, Cibicki, Lasogga, Sacko, Peacock, ? Two of the forwards would need to make it 5 in midfield to win the ball back. Felix should just boot it long as his passing is crap. Easy on paper!

3.) 07 Feb 2018 08:12:03
442 Notts. Time to get back to basics.

23 Jun 2017 11:34:14
Rumour that Klich is fly into Leeds for talks

1.) 23 Jun 2017 12:44:23
He signed this morning

28 May 2017 10:33:43
Rumour that we are about to sign Sacko for €2m. Does anyone else think that it is a bit pricey ?

1.) 28 May 2017 12:17:46
Hope not. Way to pricey. Not good enough? Anyway. Whose making that decision. I would expect owner to sit down with new manager and director of football and make a joint dec on who stays and goes. Not make the dec on hos own.

2.) 28 May 2017 12:47:06
Think it's a good deal. A lot of potential is there, if we can harness it right. He needs to be allowed to attack, Monk's defensive tactics held him back, and I think he can easily hit 10 goals. Offers far more than Dallas, who is vastly overrated by some fans.

3.) 28 May 2017 13:06:36
Cheap imo, with the money flying around lately. Sacko can improve.

4.) 28 May 2017 14:27:16

5.) 28 May 2017 15:42:23
Sadly I agree Vinny, the money trickling down from the prem has pushed player values up so £1.7m really isn't a lot in the current market. The thing is I think its an over spend based on last season but if he can add 4 goals and 4 assists next term, which is only 1 of each every 11 games or so, he suddenly looks a real bargain. As for the decision Aus my guess is because we had an agreed price that was set to run out when his loan officially does (I'm guessing the day after the playoff final, which just happens to be today) so we couldn't wait on it. I would guess he has gone on the advice of the assistant and the coaches as to where Sacko's game is and where they think it can get to.

6.) 28 May 2017 15:42:33
Notts, not pricey. Martyn is correct. Sacko cannot cross, play the right pass and doesn't get enough assists or goals but add to that "just yet". In his favour, he is fast as fork. What does 1.7m get you these days? Perhaps the new manager can teach him new skills. I'd have triggered the permanent buy option too. Our squad requires thickening out no doubt.

7.) 28 May 2017 16:02:37
Sorry tomorrow for the playoff final, got my dates wrong, either way, same point.

8.) 28 May 2017 22:14:34
Bargain. Pace scares defenders to death. He's still young enough to improve the rest of his game. On Dallas, does he he still play for us I can't remember?

9.) 29 May 2017 12:29:23
Think it can only be a good sign if we are spending that sort of money on squad players.

22 Apr 2017 18:40:59
Monk and the team lacked the courage of their convictions today as our "have a go" attitude did not muster an attempt on target for over 80 mins.

I agree that the current formation has got us this far however we have been worked out for a few months now and I am unsure as to whether Monk does not trust the current players to play another way or he is personally incapable of changing his philosophy.

That being said he had over achieved with an average squad and that should be recognised. History has repeated itself through a lack of investment in January has left us short

1.) 23 Apr 2017 11:44:23
Certainly I have said, over the weeks that "Don't let them score" is Monk's first thoughts. We have never looked like a 4-0 team but having said that, if we had obtained promotion with boring 1-0 wins then I for one would not be complaining. There have been too many games where we have been outplayed but have salvaged a draw or a win against the odds. Let's hope that the close season sees a shake up (which may be forced on us by departures) . Next season will see more of a Monk's team and whilst I agree, build from the back, I hope that he finds a tight, forward thinking, midfield with a few goals in them. I am hoping now that the hardest working employees in Leeds are the scouts looking, searching and planning for next year.

Pablo Hernandez rumoured to be signing. This would represent a high quality signing for the Championship.

1.) 31 Jul 2016 20:34:05
High quality signing would have been pitchard. Quality.

2.) 02 Aug 2016 17:38:03
Pritchard along with Txeira who Brighton had on loan from Liverpool, two best players I've seen in Championship. Would have eclipsed all our signings so far but we haven't shown that extra ambition and have missed out on him. He's off to Brighton.

Look on the bright side, Luke Murphy will be back next season to bolster our midfield options :)

1.) 30 Apr 2018 11:57:35
We will have a full team coming back from loans i think.

2.) 30 Apr 2018 12:07:17
I thought same thing Notts. On form of current players, he'd take a place on the bench sadly.

3.) 30 Apr 2018 16:40:41
George. Even more sadly. He might start

Always an uphill task with a poor keeper in goal

22 Feb 2018 08:01:40
2 points dropped last night. Wiedwald simply not good enough. Rooted to his line for both goals, the first he could have closed the distance to Weinman to make the chance more difficult. The second, a good keeper would have infiltrated the crowd of players and would have probably won a foul. In the build up to second goal, a corner was given away because the defence do not want to pass back to the keeper. In regards the defence, De Bock was appalling and Calamity Cooper continues to be a liability. Yes, his pass helped to set up the first goal but his ability to head the ball the opposite direction he is looking gave away the first goal.

1.) 22 Feb 2018 08:23:48
2 points dropped by them Notts, we were outplayed pal. On another day it would have been 4_1 at half time

2.) 22 Feb 2018 15:57:37
Disagree Martyn, points are awarded for most goals scored not level of performance. With 2 mins to go we were winning therefore 2 points dropped

3.) 22 Feb 2018 20:11:39
And they would feel the same having wasted 26 chances to our 8

4.) 22 Feb 2018 21:06:53
Score was still 2-2, unless they won on points ?

5.) 23 Feb 2018 09:59:28
Why are people obsessed with the number of shots Derby had compared to us? They only had 4 on target. I don’t give a rats if a team has 50 shots against us as long as few if any are on target and most fundamentally none of the on target shots result in a goal. Shots off target with few on target might indicate where the game is being played out but can also indicate that one team is limiting the other to long range shots with little chance of success. The only stat that counts is goals scored. Everything else is just something to fill up tv analysis.

I was initially disappointed with the appointment of Hecky because he was not a "name" however I have reflected on this and listened to his latest comments. We do not necessary need a "name", we do not need a big ego, we do not need someone on there last hurrah looking for a pay day to top up their retirement fund. What we need is someone who knows English football and this division, someone who has the principles of wanting to play aggressive attacking football, someone who is straight talking and is not afraid to pull up players who are not giving 100%. That could be Hecky. Yes, his record in the division this season is not great but let's be honest Barnsley have a poor squad and every decent player he has had in the past couple of seasons has been sold off. Last season they were flirting with the play offs until their board ripped his team apart in January. We need to give this guy a chance as I am 100% confident that he will not spend 15 minutes procrastinating if the opposition bring on a dangerous substitute that everyone but previous manager know will carry a threat, he will not pander to the likes of Kemar Roofe if he comes to the sidelines complaining that he is tired when we are down to 10 men with no striking replacements available, he will not tell everyone that a new signing is injured just because he hasn't spent a week on the training pitch with him. Hecky may not make all the right decisions but I don't believe that he will cock up the job on purpose because he does not like Leeds. In fact, I really do not care if he supports Leeds at all as long as he is professional in his job.

1.) 07 Feb 2018 17:09:57
Here, here Notts. Completely agree. MM

2.) 07 Feb 2018 17:34:18
Post of 2018 goes to Notts hands down

3.) 07 Feb 2018 17:49:29
Top post!

4.) 07 Feb 2018 18:23:04
Top post Notts, I don't want to blow sunshine up your rear, but I've got to read a post of yours I don't agree with!

5.) 07 Feb 2018 19:42:36
great post agree 100%, when was the last time we employed an actor who was in work and not unemployed and on the scrap heap? when was the last time we hired a manager that the club we took the manager from was gutted to lose him, they only just signed him on a new deal as they were happy with job he was doing, honestly can't think last time we got a manager like that. really pleased! MOT

6.) 07 Feb 2018 23:14:04
And he'd turned down forest and sunderland but couldn't say no to leeds despite just signing a new contract. He wants this job.

04 Feb 2018 11:51:32
Not saying it is looking ominous for TC but I have just seen Steve Evans pitching a tent at Thorpe Arch training ground

1.) 04 Feb 2018 12:44:01
Can’t have been a tent must have been a circus big top!

{Ed001's Note - might have just been hanging his laundry up, a t-shirt would probably double as a 6 person tent for the rest of us.}

Why would he give up this cushy gig ? The tail is wagging the dog with regards to his relationship with Radz. Orta is Teflon with regards to the poor performances from the players he has brought in and cannot be judged on the U23s for at least a couple of years. Why go to a club where he may be judged on actual results ? Utter madness

Ekuban has not scored and Roberts has not kicked a ball in anger for us but they could be our striking partnership next season ?

Don't talk nonsense BW. Even if Jansson was fit Monk would have put him on the bench. Rumour being that Jansson and Ayling had a training ground bust up which Monk tried to separate but Jansson laid hands on Monk. Totally unacceptable from Jansson but he paid the price by being dropped for the Brighton game. Monk needs to discipline the play but should not cut off his nose to spite his face.

The problem with Sam is that you get results but the football is of poor quality. The owner of Everton talked about Champions League football when he took over and felt that Koeman would provide it by playing attractive football. It went sour, they panicked and brought in Sam to steady the ship. He did what he was asked to do but his football alienates those who wish to be entertained. I am not a fan of Sam but struggle to see what more he could have done in the circumstances

Agree Hesslian. This proposed transfer appears to be iffy in that I struggle to understand how a player playing in Serie B with a poor scoring record and injury record is valued at circa £3.5m. Even with the inflated prices of English football, a player like this would only cost half the cost being suggested in today's market.

Cheers George. Like Cyprus voting for Greece in Eurovision you get a vote from me, good to have you back. Agree with vote for Martyn on his unwavering stance on the Heck, although the same could be argued for Whiteman I felt that Martyn was more prepared to explain his stance. Ausman's comments, always comical have also been surprisingly lucid of late. First Martyn, second George, third Ausman. Martyn by a whisker through being proven right about Hecky.
