Coops had a good start to the season by his standards but think that is the best he can be . Don't think he has the physical presence/strength that's required and is not a long term option. For the next game would go 4-1-3-2 . With Shauns in front of a back 4 and Anita in the middle of a 3 with Ronnie and Philips and try Ekuban up front with Saiz . Try and keep possession better, no big hoofs up front Then if we get some control in midfield would bring on more of an attacking threat later in the game

Medical underway for £1.5m polish international . This is a very good signing, rumour has it the transfer budget is circa £20m . If this is correct we could see 8 or 10 more good quality players in the £1m to £3m price range come in . If this proves to be the case, think Monk had his head turned, as with this level of investment he should have been confident enough to stay on and do the job, thereby proving he was worthy of the longer contract he wanted and thought he was worth.

1.) 22 Jun 2017 16:39:07
I think bridcutt will go now keep okane I just think we may go to another level next year. A big name manager doesn't mean success. Get another striker or push Rolfe upfront and I think we could be there abouts

2.) 22 Jun 2017 18:56:22
Brid won't leave, Phillips loaned out More likely, perhaps Sheffield united or burton? I wouldn't mind that.

3.) 22 Jun 2017 20:15:25
Monk apparently wants too take brid too boro. ? And has told downing he can leave. 32 years old but still a decent winger. Can cross and score. Cud do a deal maybe. Not sure if downing has a few or can go free. ? ⚽️😃👍

4.) 22 Jun 2017 21:04:50
Steve Evans is the source for the £20m figure so dismiss that immediately. He knows nowt. He just likes to think he does. Probably gets a few quid per quote. I doubt any of the regulars will be sent out on loan until TC has had a good look in pre season. He'll have an idea of what he wants from then and what he needs to add "to the group" as GM was so fond of calling them. Hernandez I really liked but if he didn't play neither did we. I can see him staying but not being the main man. Roofe I can see improving. I think there's better value than the rumoured £7m for barts even though he was a rock for us last year. Looking at some of the names being quoted, it's the second summer of optimism for over 15 years. That said there's few teams that look an easy 3 points and the ones that do, we lost away to last year. It'll be a dog fight every week. On, on, on

5.) 22 Jun 2017 22:10:08
A budget of £20m is probably not enough, unless we get lucky. I mean Hull and Sunderland have already received £17m and £25m respectively for players they've sold, plus parachute payments. I wonder how big their budgets will be?

6.) 22 Jun 2017 23:10:54
20 million is not enough to keep up with the rest. People talk this klich player up like he's a good player lol sorry but other than he's cheap his record is pretty lame. if you want to keep up you need players like bakary sako or someone who has played in this league and has been brilliant.

7.) 23 Jun 2017 01:18:47
Swadlad the lad hasn't even kicked a ball yet TCmightnhave ideas for him to play a different role or position? Personally don't see brid as captain this year, could we'll be jansson, green or wood for me? Who knows eh gents

8.) 23 Jun 2017 01:49:04
Not sure how you come to that Swadlad, Klich scored 6 with 4 assists in 29 games last season, scale that up to a champ campaign of 46 games and that's 10 goals 6 assists, more than the rest of our midfield put together. Also you can't compare him to Sako, he plays in a different position, we are looking at Alioski on the wing who scored more last season, in fewer games than Sako in his best season. No guarantee he would do it in the English Lg, but since Sako has scored 2 in 2 seasons no guarantee he could do it again either. Bringing players from overseas is a risk but they come in a lot cheaper and with lower wages. Do you think Jansson would be £3.5m now he's tested? Add loans and frees and I think we could easily challenge with a £20m spend if we recruit right.

9.) 23 Jun 2017 06:14:43
I agree gum and samo. Buy 6-8 cheaper players and you can afford a misfire or two. But 3-4 $4mill plus players and they all got to bear fruit. don't want brid this year let monk have him. And not realky wanting sacko or herna to be a starter. Think janson the obvious captain if he stays and can keep ego in!

10.) 23 Jun 2017 08:38:32
So what look at his overall record, ok he had a decent record last season but 1 season is no good to judge a player on. Bridcutt was our best cdm by far last season so if we get rid of him then we will need a good cdm and that's not klich, I agree with Hernandez shouldn't be a starter because he lacks effort imo. Sako is proven winger in this league n seems as we have Dallas and doukara who play in his position it's mad that we ain't even looking at him to join. We need to sell rubbish like Hernandez, Phillips, Dallas, antonsson and replace with much better players.

11.) 23 Jun 2017 09:05:00
Rubbish like Hernandez Phillips Dallas. ? Hernandez playing welll won us more games last season, Phillips is a good young prospect and will come good. Dallas when played ran his socks off and put effort in just final ball was lacking at times. But is a full international player who started at euros last season and is in the brink off World Cup qualifying with his country. So to say these guys are rubbish is a bit harsh. Also monk had them ( team ) playing defensive so I think you might see a different team and style from these 3 and team this season. In my opinion. MOT ONWARDS N UPWARDS. ⚽️⚽️👍🍺🍺 AND DOWN THE PINTS 🍺🍺

12.) 23 Jun 2017 09:19:12
Im not sure sacko is any more proven than douk or dallas. None of the really good enough.

13.) 23 Jun 2017 18:39:45
You keep your beer bottles on then, it's simple a team like Leeds should be in the premiership not struggling to get out of the championship, Hernandez is terrible, yes he got a few goals but he's a cam that's what he gets paid to do, and far to often last season he went missing. That was 1 of the biggest problems we had imo that lack of effort behind Chris wood. This samu saiz who we seem to be after is very similar which is disappointing. Phillips has effort definitely but he isn't great at defending or attacking so I'd rather sell and buy someone who is good at defending or attacking because Phillips is not niether. And as for dallas, he's just not going to get Leeds promoted, he will score 2 or 3 that's it, I didn't say our sacko I said sako from crystal palace is the type of proven player we need not the pathetic midfield we have at the minute. Where is our Tom cairney? I know he's well out of our price range but come on where is anyone similar to him in our team? That's what we need not Hernandez or samu saiz who will get you 5 to 10 goals a season if that.

14.) 24 Jun 2017 21:44:31
Dont really understand Saiz and I think Hernandez will be dropped if we play 433 this season Swad, also agree Philips isn't good enough right now but young enough to send out on loan, time to improve. don't see Dallas as a starter but like Douk his versatility makes him a good squad player, and we lacked depth last year.

Our mid is far from trash though, we played a certain way under Monk, with a 3 man of Bridcutt (or O'Kane) , Vieria and Klich we have a good balance of bite and forward movement (1 DM, 2 CM) .

I think your looking for us to bring in 20+ a goal player though, they cost stupid money, adding 2 or 3 goals in a couple of positions adds up quickly, is much more frugal and has the same outcome.

15.) 25 Jun 2017 20:07:53
Fair enough I actually agree with most of that. Just angry with the lack of goals from midfield last season it was pathetic imo. With the defence and gk and Chris wood we have some really good players but it's that midfield I have issues with, bridcutt I like but the rest just don't add up with the quality of the rest of the team. Phillips shouldn't be starting games if we are seriously trying to get promoted, ofc he's good to have as he's not the worst iv seen but he's not good enough right now. Viera is good but not good enough going forward. But the worst for me was Pablo Hernandez, as a cam you need far more assists from someone in that position.

The appointment of Bravo maybe a major indication of where the club is planning to go . As don't see him signing up just for the club to remain the same. Recruitment over the period before pre season will be the best sign yet of where we are going ?

27 Apr 2017 18:47:47
With the appointment of Bravo we might see a real change in our fortunes as he would not be coming to us unless there was going to be a concerted effort and investment in the club .

His CV with Real Madrid on it does not need to pitch up at a club playing second tier football. Would love to know what has been discussed, promised and the plans going forward for next season. The players we recruit before preseason will be a good indication.

1.) 27 Apr 2017 21:42:59
Excellent post and I think it is an exciting appointment

2.) 27 Apr 2017 22:05:56
Good post. Hope you're right.

Some news on ownership

Dan Roan ‏@danroan 54m54 minutes ago
Leeds Utd staying Italian? Businessman and MP and Silva founder Andrea Radrizzani in talks to buy major stake in the club, according to sources

Dan Roan ‏@danroan 45m45 minutes ago
Word of warning: Radrizzani talks not yet complete, and I'm told it doesn't necessarily mean the end of Cellino at Leeds Utd. But deal close.

1.) 11 Aug 2016 13:51:41
Hooray, another new owner for some people to start a hate campaign against. (Good grief! )

2.) 11 Aug 2016 14:09:10
Hope it's the end ghf.

3.) 11 Aug 2016 15:08:07
Could be a case of more cooks to spoil the broth and to argue in the boardroom.

4.) 11 Aug 2016 15:26:23
the only cook left.

5.) 11 Aug 2016 21:20:43
Optimistic so Lucas.

Neil Redfern should go away, not good enough when he had a chance and now only nuisance value as commentator . His comments are not valued or wanted .

1.) 10 Nov 2017 12:30:59
If Redfearn is right then, Iam behind him, if Orta is the one who has got us in this mess he should have been sacked the position he’s in he should know what players can do the job and who can get us up, clearly he doesn’t.

2.) 11 Nov 2017 00:24:31
You can sign 20 players and maybe half of those will actually make a difference Even that bloke at Salford made duff signings He's worked to a brief and bought a lot of younger players in with potential Look at Chelsea, win everything at youth level, sell them on to buy " ready made" There's a couple of promising lads in the u23s that look pretty decent It takes time Look what happened the last time we hatched a crop of real quality kids. Champs league semi finals Keep the faith

08 Nov 2017 16:42:09
Along with the best of what we have, it is the spine that needs strengthening. With the addition of new quality players it will aid the players we already have . Think we will need a GK centre half, left back and a mid field general. On top of that of the three wingers we have Dallas Sacko and Alioski, one needs to go and 2 new ones brought in . Number 10 Saiz is fine with Hernandez as backup . Up front Roofe Laasy, Grot and Ekuban . Grot needs to go to U23's, Lassy return to parent club from loan and we need 2 new forwards with some quality . We need some pace and some players who can run at defences, with a stronger more solid defence

1.) 08 Nov 2017 18:11:50
PA, is that your letter to Santa 🎅? I don't think they'll all fit in your stocking mate! 😁😁

2.) 08 Nov 2017 19:09:54
Wishful thinking ! It's what's needed though

05 Nov 2017 12:57:37
Back to basics, nullify the oppositions strengths and play to your own strengths In the last 2 games on TV the oppositions mid fielder has been man of the match and we have not taken action to stop them . They have been running the show. First thing is you need to win the battle against your opposite number and then contribute to the team performance. We are failing in this. As others have said we are weak down the spine and lightweight. We need to get back to basics with a proper holding mid fielder, away from home also we need to be far more defensively set up . We are far too cavalier in our approach and have lost the benefit of both Bartley and Monks defensive coaching from last year. Coops is only squad standard and Ayling leaves too many gaps in behind with trying to go forward all the time especially away from home. Would try Shauns in holding mid f in a 3, with a lone striker and then either two creative players or alternatively another midfielder who can get forward like Dallas and one creative player. Give TC a fair cack at getting it turned around, 3 or 4 games after the break, failing that would look to bring in someone like Mick McCarthy

1.) 05 Nov 2017 14:10:57
We don't have a forward who panic's defenders Lassie is far to easy to put off the ball then he does very little to retrieve the ball, Grot is not at all ready and I'm not convinced he will ever be. Brentford tackled and passed the ball and considering there budget made us look second best most of the game . Waghorn cost Ipswich 1mil and would have made far better business . Bloody shame Barton was banned as we could do with a general in midfield and on the pitch no ones screaming at players about there positioning etc . Saiz is great but often shoots rather than passing to a better placed player. I don't agree Pontus had a bad game and the penalty tackle was needed .

2.) 05 Nov 2017 15:41:17
I have to agree PA about giving TC a few more games to turn things around but failing that if he doesn't bring in Mick Mccarthy? I really think we should be looking at some one with a bit more class than him, I think that would be taking a backward step. Take Newcastle. they aimed high and got Rafa. Why aren't we looking at higher profile managers. we are as big a club as Newcastle, really think we should go all out to get a proven name if TC goes.

01 Nov 2017 18:45:32
At the moment we are not good enough, we thought we had greatly improved, then our recent run of results. We do have some good players . What is now required to be the finished article is the big question. Think some of the refs have allowed our players to be roughed up with very little protection. We need a couple of Vinny types and to be able to beat the opposition even with bad decisions going against us.

01 Nov 2017 12:48:50
Could trot out all the old cliches a million times but you have to build from the back, you have to be able to defend and not concede then you can earn the right to play football. The remnants of Monks defensive coaching was still in the team for he first 7 or 8 games, we then added in the flare and looked really good. We need to go back to basics like in the early George Graham days. Get really hard to beat, with this solid foundation we have enough flare up front to create something, need a goalscorer, some of the new recruits to start showing some potential and some more metal in the players we recruit . As we know it is a very competitive league with no easy games . It is in the top six leagues in Europe, don't think TC realised MOT

1.) 01 Nov 2017 14:13:07
Totally agree PA. Let's stop giving goals away. let's bolster the defence. Not necessarilly buying. Getting the players we have back to full potential and possibly one extra defensive minded body in midfield then dust ourselves down and go again. Many are saying the end of November will show where we are but this weekend could be the catalyst for a revival. MOT

Needs to go 5 - 3 - 2 and start to make sure we are not losing games, especially away from home . Shut up shop and hope our creative players can magic up a few goals . Get to January window and fill in the gaps

Wexleeds1 my "model county" friend, in reply to your Grot question, think you sometimes need a horses for courses approach . Think with the Grot you have a more physical presence. To an opposing centre back physically Grot is more of a handful than Roofe. Would have started Roofe on the right ( It's all with the benefit of hindsight of course ! ) . Need to play our bigger more physical players in these type of games . Think most teams now will approach our fixture in the same way as Millwall and Cardiff have, trying to bully our smaller players . Not too bad at ER but away from home with a home team ref we need a different approach

Lucas is God All I can say in response to your friendly little jibe is, man and boy, nearly 50 years, through good times and bad, there has only ever been one team for me. Leeds United to the bone
