Jarrod Bowen. thoughts? Would be another decent option for when Alioski isn't at it!

No thanks, no better than what we already have. Only players that can improve us are needed.

2.) 28 Dec 2018 09:02:19
Typical journo making stuff up

We don’t have money to spend in january unless we sell

I’d rather we didn’t sell anyone.

Two goal bound efforts blocked on the six yard box.
Two great saves from the Reading keeper, both point blank from Roofe.
A couple of poor misses from Hernandez and a really bad miss from Douglas.
If the question is 'were we lucky to win? '
ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Some nice football from the u23's tonight especially in the first 30 minutes.

Stevens looked a threat, Roberts was a class above and so many of the back line were oozing confidence on the ball.

Interested to see how long it takes McCalmont to make the step up!

On a more unfortunate note, it may be the end of Berardis season. He could be heard hitting the dugout from across the pitch when he was forced off just before half time. Also Brown looks a way off the first team pace for now. MOT.

Did fair play not go out the window when:

a. ) Wolves bought the league.
b. ) Wolves paid an agent to buy the league.
c. ) Bournemouth bought the league.
d. ) Aston Villa and Derby currently try to buy the league.

Or is breaking FFP not a big deal compared to eccentric match preparation?

SherburnWhite

1.) 17 Jan 2019 10:22:39
Don't be silly, FFP is an actual, real, bona-fide rule which Leads haven't broken, so obviously the rule that doesn't exist becomes the ONLY deal :)

2.) 17 Jan 2019 11:34:40
Easy solution for EFL, EPL and FA is to now bring out a law that outlaws any employees from any other FL or EPL team from having contact or visiting another club within 24-48 hours of a match between those 2 teams unless invited. Make it a rule/ law of the game then and only then would there be a case to answer. Leeds Utd the coach or representative of the club have broken no criminal or football law as it stands. Yes it may be deemed morally wrong but not against the rules, now the EFL or FA can find a so called breach of a code of practice e. g. Unsportsmanlike conduct to fit the so called Spy gate incident, but in theory they should in fact be thanking Bielsa for highlighting a loophole. As I've said before it's been blown up and sensationalized in the media, lots of false or misleading comments made and I guess the powers to be at the EFL are being railroaded into some kind of sanction against us, I can't see points but wouldn't back against a fine.

3.) 17 Jan 2019 16:45:02
A fair assessment of the episode. I hope that they hurry up with the punishment if any, so we can get back to focusing fully on trying to win the League.

So the u23's are playing at the i2i stadium in Tadcaster next Monday.

Is it just a show up and watch them play? Or is there any ticketing - max capacity issues that I should know about?

1.) 15 Jan 2019 12:22:26
Spanish is the man to ask.

2.) 15 Jan 2019 13:03:06
I understand it's a pliers and binoculars event.

3.) 15 Jan 2019 14:00:44
Pay on the gate, £3, £1 concessions. Alternatively I’ve been told there are some nice bushes on the hill opposite the ground!

All I'm saying is we should be at an even keel now; all of the Wood, Taylor, Vieira and 49ers money has covered all of the incomings since Orta was hired. (including loans)

There is no way we have gone over that budget - so now is the time for Radz to either sell more equity (too late for this window) or put up. We're not asking for Aston Villa investment, we're asking for the equivalent of being first in the Championship!

Slightly worried that the Derby game could be embarrassing. If we have no; Hernandez, Cooper, Douglas or Phillips and try to fill these gaps with what we have left - I can see Lampard lighting a fire under his players and them mauling us.

1.) 09 Jan 2019 14:43:43
I'm getting the same feeling sherburn.

2.) 09 Jan 2019 15:00:36
Cooper will play, share the concerns though. anything happens to jansson, klich or Roofe and we are in serious trouble.

3.) 09 Jan 2019 16:13:01
Let's see what happens Sherb but I think we can cobble together a team to do a job. Hopefully Cooper will be back (don't want to rush him tho) if not Halme can fill. Maybe Klich AND Forshaw can protect the back four. Yes I know we will lose some attacking thrust but, needs must. We already know that Pearce can do a job at LB without having to drop Alioski back and as for cover for Hernanadez I will defer to Spanish to pick one of our young guns. Seeing as Baker has fallen out with us and Brown is still on the treatment table.

4.) 09 Jan 2019 16:58:33
I’m with you here Leo, we can definitely still put a side out that is more than capable of “competing”, and also one that could win the match too. If Pablo doesn’t make it, tho I hope he does as he’s a key player, I’m also quite intrigued by the prospect of Roberts playing 10, with Roofe. With Slioski, Harrison then Clarke, we still carry an attacking threat.

5.) 09 Jan 2019 17:03:31
Looks like Roberts is the Pablo replacement :)

6.) 09 Jan 2019 18:34:18
I think they have been trying out different people in that position in the Under 23s and no one has really stood out . Roberts is an interesting possibility and Bielsa has seen that already. Other longer term possibility is Kun. I think he’s better playing behind a striker and has the build to win the ball, hold players off and the skill to dribble, pass and shoot.

Hernandez is a massive loss for me, he can create or score a goal from very little. Let’s hope it’s not for long!

7.) 09 Jan 2019 18:48:06
You’re right Spanish, Kun will be, tho not yet, a straight and better replacement for Saiz.

8.) 09 Jan 2019 19:04:37
God help us if Roberts is stepping in for Hernandez, his passing to his own players is terrible.

9.) 09 Jan 2019 22:15:55
Roberts definitely capable.
Improving every game.
Will get sharper and grow in confidence. if he plays friday back him to score.

You only have to look at last season - Cardiff were not exactly splashing the cash yet when January came around they spent 7 million on Madine. An average player at best - but when you're in those top 3/ 4 spots it is imperative to strengthen!

How we haven't sourced a keeper wanting more game time within the past 6 weeks is unbelievable - only Leeds!

It's not simple but money talks. Aston Villa knew their problem positions and a keeper was through the door on January 1st.

The transfer market wasn't difficult last summer when Orta was signing every Tom, Dick, and Harry for Christiansen.

And might I add paying some rather large fees in the process.

Exactly Spanish, but I'm very confident that when he is replaced in the starting line up. He'll never get back in.

He didn't cost a goal at the rate of one every two games. Right now there is one position holding the team back as a whole and it's GK, it's the place where you cannot afford for individual errors.

I've seen Forshaw get slated for his performance which was a one-off by his standards yet with BPF it's 'he needs time, he'll get better'.

His natural ability is set and it's not a very good level. Too quiet, flimsy, can't distribute long. He's just horrendous.
