BPF
Berardi Cooper Jansson Dallas

The team that I would like to play at Blackburn:

BPF

Thoughts?

I’m hoping roofe and Hernandez are back.
Not sure it’s fair to drop cooper for one bad game.
Think Saiz needs a rest.
And while we are on the subject. I’m underwhelmed by Bamford. I know he hasn’t played much but I think we paid 5-6 mill too much for him. I’d have roofe and Roberts on team sheet before him.

2.) 10 Oct 2018 12:34:16
Need Hernandez and Roofe in team if fit, even if Pablo just plays an hour.

3.) 10 Oct 2018 12:49:47
Obviously, Roofe's form this season warrant a place in the team. However Roberts offers so much more as the lone striker, his link-up play is superb!

4.) 10 Oct 2018 13:09:00
Bamford has played about 2 games for us so far - waaay to early to judge him and he is a proven goalscorer at this level.

5.) 10 Oct 2018 14:35:11
My initial thoughts are we paid 5-6 mill too much for Bamford. He has looked clueless in my opinion. Time will tell but I think he is a dud.

6.) 10 Oct 2018 14:50:44
Exactly Alf, well said. Not remotely possible to judge someone based on a few sub appearances.

7.) 10 Oct 2018 15:52:11
Hopefully Roofe and Pablo back in, Shackleton at right back, maybe switch Berardi for Phillips, Baker for Saiz.

8.) 10 Oct 2018 16:43:05
A couple of sub appearances, a cup game and U23’s is hardly the basis for rating a player surely Aus. I’m here to be proved wrong in time, but let’s at least get him back from injury, and give him a fair crack!?

9.) 10 Oct 2018 20:10:00
Mr aus, been on the fosters again, talking baloney again.
Bamford not even had chance to get going. he will be our best striker in years
Says he, s down-underwhelmed. what a plonker Rodney.

10.) 10 Oct 2018 20:19:01
Struth sheila" 7 million for bamford. that's 5/ 6 million too much.

I see a lot of fans don't have the same confidence as myself on the back of the PNE performance.

I'm afraid if a performance like that one can't make you feel confident at 1-0, then no performance ever will.

They had one disallowed goal in 90+ minutes. Everything else was routine.

1.) 20 Sep 2018 13:12:10
I thought we controlled the game and probably could have been 2 or 3 up by half time. Unfortunately at 1-0 you are always susceptible to a break away or a lucky strike from the opposition therefore at 1-0 I felt that we needed the second to kill the game off. Still a long way to go and the pessimist inside of me says that we will achieve playoffs however if we are still there by January and have a fully fit and available squad then I may start to believe we can achieve automatic promotion.

2.) 20 Sep 2018 15:25:52
never confident when we are leeds. As someone said we fell apart after this last year. I think this year is different but will not be happy until it is don, then i will believe. in the mean time just enjoy the football and the wins.

when the 'scored' i did think it was coming a little and they had too many shots and BPF played too well for it to be comfortable

also never easy in this league any team can win or lose any week

also the nevers makes it all the more fun, must be boring being a man city fan.

3.) 20 Sep 2018 16:22:40
Sherburn, I am confident after the Preston performance, but it’s impossible to guarantee a win at 1-0. I’m glad that you were right on this ocasión and hope you are right about every 1-0, but personally ill always prefer 2-0, then I can relax in the seat a bit!

4.) 20 Sep 2018 20:07:31
What are you doing sitting down? Eating prawn sandwiches? ;)

5.) 21 Sep 2018 07:43:52
Chicken and mushroom pie actually! You must be in the corporate hospitality AL! They don’t do prawn sandwiches in my part of the ground!

6.) 21 Sep 2018 16:18:18
In my part of the ground we're happy when it rains, just so we can have a drink;)

19 Sep 2018 14:32:16
Best performance of the season last night. I think Alex Neil is living somewhere I want to visit if he believes the game was even up until the second goal.

Couldn't fault a single player last night, once the first 15 minutes were rode out they never looked back.

The amazing stat for me personally is that we've only conceded one goal at home in the league after four games. Which was a penalty too.

Quietly confident that nobody will leave Elland Road with 3 points this season!

1.) 19 Sep 2018 14:42:01
Think we’re all maybe getting slightly carried away a little with our form at the moment. Don’t want to put a dampener on things but every team goes through a sticky patch. Hopefully ours won’t be the last 3 months of the season due to burn out.

2.) 19 Sep 2018 14:44:59
To be fair Sherborne, whilst it was 1-0 they could have sneaked a draw. I think the way we play, there’s always the chance that the opposition could sneak one. Everyone was relieved when the second one went in and after that could have been 4 or 5!

3.) 19 Sep 2018 14:58:12
agree spanish they did put ball in back of net and bpf played well so 1-1 would not of been crazy that said over 90 we outplayed them and dersevred win . if we don't get burn out we will be flying.

4.) 19 Sep 2018 15:13:41
Just as pleasing as the 3 was the 0 at the other end. Yes, the way we play, conceding no goals is a feat in itself and is a testament to the well drilled unit at the back.

5.) 19 Sep 2018 15:32:58
It is true at 1-0 there is always the chance of 1-1 becoming an eventuality.

However last night at no point, except from the goal ruled out for offside. Did I see PNE equalising, they were forced in to long hopeless balls for 70 minutes of last nights game. Swallowed up by; Ayling, Jansson, Cooper and Douglas then another attack would begin.

I'm quite surprised that nobody has referenced the last man 'foul' on Roberts, for me it was definitely a foul upon first viewing. In which case they would have been down to 10 men again!

6.) 19 Sep 2018 15:38:11
I thought Pontus was immense last night, he even went for a jog down the wing! !

7.) 19 Sep 2018 17:41:23
I didn’t feel as confident as you Sherburn and nor did all the people sat around . I think 2-0 gives us that real edge we relax and the opponents either start to give up or go headless, both of which help us.

Ayling did have a squeaky first 10 mins as well that could have gone wrong. But you were right it didn’t .

Bring on the Brum, another side capable of playing better than the position suggests. Are there really any easier games in this division?

8.) 19 Sep 2018 21:44:25
We've had our sticky patch, 2 draws in a row ;)

9.) 20 Sep 2018 14:23:52
Top up in January with 3 players and by the time their playing bielsa football they can come in to releave the fatigue.

10.) 20 Sep 2018 18:58:25
I am with you Sherburn. I was very confident at 1-0 too.

Preston couldn't string 3 passes together all night whilst we are passing and moving as if we have been doing it for years. I felt that Preston were chasing shadows, and we were opening them up almost at will (I did say almost)

By 1-0 I think Klich had almost had 2 goals against his name and at that stage I thought we were playing with 10 men as Roberts hadn't really contributed. That is not meant as a destructive criticisms, only that he looked a little off the pace of what his teammates were doing. But by the 2nd half he seemed to be joining in. Making runs at the right time. Holding up at the right time. Playing passes at the right time. It was like having a young Kemar Roofe up front

I have always supported each and every manager that Leeds have employed. Even Denis Wise woth his Chelsea connections. (Might not have been 100% behind Hockaday as I had never heard of him before) But thank you, thank you, thank you for employing Biesla. This is the most enjoyable watching I have had since OLeary's Babes (and most of those were Wilkinson youngsters)

18 Sep 2018 15:03:09
I know we're still unbeaten but I'd like to see at least one change tonight.

I think it's time Alioski was replaced, see what another player can bring to the party on the left.

I doubt any youngsters will start unless there is an injury in the warm up. much like Shackleton's appearance at Swansea.

We should have enough for Preston tonight, they're really low on confidence.

1.) 18 Sep 2018 15:19:17
I’d play Dallas tonight. Was superb in his 2 games on international duty. ⚽️⚽️👍.

2.) 18 Sep 2018 15:41:08
Good call batty. Maybe on of the promising u23s to on as sub.

3.) 18 Sep 2018 15:45:19
He can blow hot or cold sher and agree we should put him on the bench and either play Dallas as Batty suggests or Harrison .

4.) 18 Sep 2018 16:09:30
Personally I don't have much confidence in Dallas changing a game, lacks skill and pace. He could offer a lot as a full back and I'd be surprised if his career doesn't eventually take him in to that position full time.

Alas the options for an Alioski replacement are very few and far between, so I would give Dallas a go.

5.) 18 Sep 2018 16:38:25
Agree Sherburn, Dallas is a trier, but I can't since he joined us remember coming out of the ground thinking he was outstanding and had a big hand in us winning a game.

6.) 18 Sep 2018 19:17:14
Sunderland last season, didn't Dallas come on as a striker and score the winner?

7.) 18 Sep 2018 19:40:27
Starting on the bench. Hopefully comes on too score tonight to make it a convincing win. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️.

Saturday Team:

BPF
Ayling Berardi Shaugnessy Douglas
Klich
Roofe Saiz Hernandez
Bamford

A little unfair to move Roofe out of position, but nobody else has impressed enough to play the wide role. At least with this we keep two active goalscorers on the pitch!

SherburnWhite

1.) 23 Aug 2018 12:15:14
Dropping Shacky an act of lunacy.

2.) 23 Aug 2018 12:21:21
Well he is “ el loco” got a sneaky feeling he will have Shackleton on the bench Saturday and play him against Preston!

3.) 23 Aug 2018 12:58:46
George: Where does Shackleton play though? As far as I'm concerned there's only 'cb' 'cdm' and 'winger' positions for stake at the minute? Potentially try him on the wing?

4.) 23 Aug 2018 13:40:52
All positions are at stake due to a long season. Don't think all posters appreciate we are going to play numerous midweek fixtures. Every player needed. I'd like to see Shacky play right midfield or right wing. Way he got to that byline was great. Can see him doing that all season. I'd drop Alioski and play Pablo on left. Give Ayling rest for Norwich but ultimately Ayling and Shacks on right could be too hot to handle for opposition. With Harrison and Alioski on bench there's squad depth in midfield. Would like to see another central defender added if nothing else.

5.) 23 Aug 2018 13:52:10
Shocking as this may be to you George but I agree 100%.
I like what I've seen of Shackleton so far and think his energy out wide could produce a very potent partnership with ayling longer term.

6.) 23 Aug 2018 14:44:56
Right idea with Shakelton, like the idea of him on the wing, but not sure if Bielsa will go for that on Sat. Might depend on whether Pontus is able to start and the knock on effect. If on the bench on sat, he should go with the idea against Preston.

7.) 23 Aug 2018 14:58:08
Thanks 🇨🇦.

8.) 23 Aug 2018 15:15:39
Agree George. Shackleton for Alioski as he gives the team so much energy. He looks like he can run all day and can pick a pass. As for moving Roofe our wide, no chance. You don’t move a striker out wide who’s been scoring regularly no matter how much you’d like to bring in Bamford in.
Not sure about the keeper situation as haven’t seen much of Blackman so can’t say he’s the better option, we’ll just have to leave that like everything else to Bielsa.

9.) 23 Aug 2018 15:35:14
Only 10 players sherburn.

10.) 23 Aug 2018 15:38:01
Thumbs up from me George. Think the lad would do well in a wide attacking role!

11.) 23 Aug 2018 15:58:28
I think Me Bielsa will tend to pick the same starters week on week whilst they win and show energy levels to meet his approach. When team loses or individual commitment levels slacken he will make changes to the starters or as on Tuesday during the game to rectify the issue as he perceives it. One thing about Mr Bielsa is that he is not afraid of shaking things up and making changes that he believes to be right. He is not a ditherer and will not tolerate 100% commitment on the pitch. That inevitably means some degree of rotation during the season.

On a separate note, he seems to favour players that can operate in more than one position/ role as that makes his team more fluid and adaptable in a game.

12.) 23 Aug 2018 16:15:08
It's really a good feeling that we are debating who is the best for a role, and can't agree. As opposed to just plain "drop him he's rubbish" MB has the managers - good - problem a choice of permutations with a feeling that they will all work and one is not necessarily weaker than the other. Having said that it would be nice to bring in a new CB.

13.) 23 Aug 2018 17:28:34
Think its right in saying Bielsa wants players to fill in more than one position so there is more fluidity in our play. However i think he has three or four players he sees as playing a vital role and as long as they are performing will be in team. Roofe in my opinion is one of those and as long as he keeps doing his job he will keep his place up front. Bamford will get his chances no doubt but he may have to wait a while. Think Nessie will be in the mix in a couple of weeks as he did miss a bit of training. I am quite happy with the players we have for the style he is playing. Would obviously like to see a couple more signings as like most i think the depth of the squad could be better. Bielsa obviously has his own vision of how players will fit in so am happy to leave it with him at the moment. As for us crashing and burning let's cross that bridge when we get to it and enjoy the moment and the football because we actually play football now. Onwards and upwards.

14.) 23 Aug 2018 17:37:32
Leo You're right. It's called a good problem to have from Bielsa's perspective. Recruitment and management much better this season than in a long time. I just hope Radz makes at least one more quality loan addition over the next week because we ought to be pressing home our advantage not just sticking to what we have. Villa are going for it. We should try match them. Ideally I'd like to see 2 new faces. Central defender and defensive midfield back up to KP.

Interesting thoughts but I don't think Bielsa will change a winning team, much like the days of Grayson.

Plus I wouldn't want to be the first player who asks Bielsa for a rest!
