The negativity around Social Networks baffles me, we've made 15, yes, FIFTEEN signings, but because we couldn't close a final deadline day deal some fans feel hard done by, when the reality is we have never had a transfer window like this EVER.

Wrongly or rightly, in my opinion rightly, we have had a squad overhaul, because let's be honest, finishing 15th last season clearly wasn't good enough.

So we sold our best player, we sold him for money we could only dream of these past 9 seasons, we have a president who won't take crap from anybody, least of all the players. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he doesn't do being ripped off, and rightly so.

Granted, our on field performances have been, erm. well, below average to say the least, but with this new influx of quality (Adryan, Sloth etc. ) we can only hope things on that front will turn around, although I am expecting a few games to get to know each other, before results start going our way.

On the coach front, yes, Cellino made a bad error in appointing Hockaday in the first place, and I feel, despite our results that he was treated inexcusably during his tenure, but we will move on, a coach isn't always the be all and end all of a team, the players should be playing for the fans and the club not the coach or the president.

These are just my thoughts, I am sure many have differing opinions.

1.) We have been productive in the transfer market and hopefully we can get the right man to get the team playing well. Personally from what I have seen so far Silvestri has been a good buy. It's early days and the team are going to need time to gel, but Warnock brought in plenty of players when he arrived and we know how most of them turned out.

2.) Good post Sussex, agree and its clear we are in a potentially good place as a club more than we have been since prem days or league 1 team that came up. So no need to moan too much I would say.

Final piece of the jigsaw is the coach/manager and they do make a difference, potentially a big difference in the team so if (may be a big if) MC gets that right as well then we would have an outside chance of top 6 or am I dreaming again??

3.) Good post

4.) Like your post Sussex - good stuff. Some great business bringing players in - the trick now will be shuffling the pack to draw out the most productive and efficient team. Didn't agree with selling Matt Smith, and would have preferred to have preferred to have seen some of the dross shown the door, but maybe Hunt, Austin etc will get loaned out when the window opens. Biggest concern is bringing in a good coach who is prepared to work with and for MC. Still a lot to get right, but signs are a lot more encouraging than this time last year. MOT!

5.) Agree with every word Sussex. Good post

6.) Agree with post. no the glory days are not back but signs are they could be here soon. I think with the right manager we could easily go up this year. only a few games in and seem to have enough quality players and right coach could get us up there this year. think how many teams have come from no-where to go up in the last few years (reading and palace spring to mind but sure there are more) come on mc get the most important signing (the coach) right and we will be on motd next year

Wow! That was some Wednesday, now I guess it is time to ship out the below average and average players that have been replaced.

Personally I think Hunt, Norris, Poleon and Tonge should go, I'd like to see Morison be given a real chance, but if this isn't going to happen then he can go too.

As for anymore signings I think we really do need a good solid defensive midfielder, not one that runs all the way up the pitch and can't get back to cover in time, one that actually does the defensive part. If Austin managed to not attempt 40 yard passes, didn't bother trying to shoot and sat back when the team went forward then he could do a solid job, but let's be honest, he can't help himself.

All in all though, a very positive day yesterday, I guess it was required after a disastrous performance against Millwall, still onwards and upwards, Boro next, let's get 3 points.

I agree about Hunt & Norris. Poleon is not the finished article, but I struggle to see him getting in front of Sharp, Smith, Doukara & Ajose. As for Tonge he's been one of the better players through pre-season and what I saw on Saturday and Tuesday. I don't see Austin fitting into the midfield, but being fair along with Tonge he was one of the better players last Saturday.

2.) Agree with you Sussex, but I'd add Warnock to your list - he's an absolute liability, and always has been…. slow, clumsy, ponderous and skill-deficient. He's probably anise bloke, but a lamentable footballer. Get rid!

3.) JT - Tonge wasn't an initial selection to get rid of, but with his age, and the players we have that will be ahead of him to me it's just another wage going out the door.

Marktenjag - Yeah, again, I had Warnock down but with only Taylor as a recognisable left back this position is pretty weak, if Berardi can step up and play left back too then I agree, Warnock could go.

Can we quit with the panicking please.

Our 16-0 win was irrelevant, our 2-0 win was irrelevant and our 2-0 loss last night is also irrelevant at this stage.

Cellino has said there will be another 5-6 players coming in, so we are nowhere near complete as a squad or i'd imagine as a starting 11 either.

I'd still be looking at getting rid of 1 or 2 but that will depend on who we bring in I guess.

We as fans though need to remain positive, this negativity is helping no one, especially not the players, yes we pay good money to go and watch our team but if all you want to do is sling negativity around you may as well not be turning up.

Massimo, Massimo, Massimo, where have you been all these years?

It seems from a respected journalist that we have signed another 2 players, in the form of Jonathan Rossini and Souleymane Doukara, not only that we are a solid financial position, with the funds to buy back Elland Road!

The cost cutting wasn't very pleasant, I know, but things clearly needed to be done and he was the only one with balls big enough to it.

I still feel we are 3-4 players short of a decent squad, so here's hoping more of the same continues and we become a force next season.

Stay positive.

1.) Its all good news for once . MC is not just saying the right things, now he's putting his money where his mouth is and turning our great club round. MOT

2.) Nah, ssn says we are skint and in desperate financial trouble so it must be true.

. makes you wonder why they want to show so many of our games live next season?

Maybe they think they can get it cheap.

Before we all start getting on the backs of Cellino and his new recruits, just have a think about the following dates 11/01/2014 & 08/03/2014, now I don't expect you to immediately know what I am on about, but these 2 dates were the 2 worst moments of last season, a 6-0 loss to Sheff Wed and a 5-1 home defeat by Bolton.

Did we really expect Cellino to sit on his hands and carry the same side over from last season? No.

Why would Cellino spend money on over-inflated British based players when he can get more for his money from abroad.

I am expecting a hell of a lot more signings, in total probably about 7 or 8, we have our first 2 in, so let's sit back and let him do his business, we can judge them on their performances next season, not on what nationality they are, where we signed them from or some 2 minute YouTube video!

Get behind the lads!

MOT

1.) Sussex Leeds, I take your point & agree with most of it provided the italian influx aren't taking the opportunities from our young players eg; Dawson, Cook etc. I'm happy watching our side with a few Italians but not 7-8 every game & it seems most of these are 2nd division players which are not proven at this level. We must replace Ross with at least 1 marquee signing & not a lower UK or Italian league player.
sure I'm behind them until the required standard is reached as long as we're not flirting with relegation. This could go either way tbh. Not all italians are quality & after watching Italian league football for years it strikes me that pace is a problem for them in all departments & The Championship has plenty of it. I truly hope there's a plan B, until then I'll be in SS6 every week as usual making me usual racket

2.) Hooray mate
Last season was crap
New boss. New coach. New players. New team. No excuses this time
We will def have a better season this time round. Even with all the changes. And still ross dosh to spend!

3.) 09 Jul 2014 15:47:29
@sloughwhites, your intentions are right in terms of not taking opportunities away from youth, but the young lads are a big risk in terms of being capable of performing. A good balance of proven (albeit at mid table teams abroad) players and youth is the way to go. Trust me, if the kids are good enough, they will play.

4.) Ausman if you think Cellino will spend any of the money from the McCormack deal I feel you are not in touch with what is going on. All we are doing is signing unproven players from a league that is not as good as ours.

5.) Victor Meldrew sorry shagtastic.

You want bates/GFH out, you want the dead wood out, MC is doing just that.
He's also trying the oposite approach we've been doing for the last 15yrs.
IE signing has been players on decent wages to jump on the gravy train at ER.
For god sake give the guy a chance he's only trying to bring players in with potential, that could turn into VERY good players (like he did at Calgari) unless you want to keep on the same track we've been on for the last how many years??

6.) Andy. I am being realistic I travel home & away to watch every game & for me a home game is a 3 hour drive. He promised us promotion in two years with the current signings I can't see it, I totally agree with your comments about Bates & GFH, & it is for this reason I fear we are being told something we want to hear rather than something that is real. He promised us he was going to buy Elland Rd & TA back & still we wait & don't give me the rubbish about how much we are losing as he was surely aware of our financial predicament before he made those comments

7.) Shagtastic
He NEVER said he would buy TA mate NEVER. He said from day1 he'd like the training ground closer to ER.
It is slightly worrying he's not bought ER yet but I guess he had more debt when he bought us than he realised.
You have to look on the brightside mate if MC didn't buy us when he did then we were possibly days from admin & PAPPA SMURF buying us on the cheap again.
As for travelling I'm working in Ireland for the forseeable future so my home matches will be 2hr drive, 1hr flight, taxi from airport and hotel for night. Boooooom £250+ EVERY home match, will do the odd away match depending.

Give MC a chance whether it works or not he deserves that at least, he did save us from the greedy bearded one.
We all love Leeds ;)

I agree with Bermondsey, we once were bigger than these 2 clubs, but in reality now the only thing bigger we have than the 2 clubs mentioned is our fan base and as much as it pains me to say it, that alone does not make us a big club.

We have our history which we are all proud of, don't get me wrong, but it's what we do at this present time that matters, and as we all know that doesn't seem to be an awful lot!

I'd be gutted to see Ross go, but for the right money it is the correct thing to do IMO.

I have seen the same story, but does make you wonder if he was the next Yaya Toure why on earth he was let go by Arsenal, these clubs just big up players to help them get another club, I'm sure of it!

Remember Michael Johnson of Manchester City, was the next big thing to come through their academy, now no longer a pro-footballer.

This is a big statement to make, one that could make or break ones creditability (if at all possible) on a 'rumours' site, if you're are right it would be hard to doubt you in the future, however, if you are wrong then your future posts will become irrelevant!

Luca Toni 36 years of age and STILL banging in 20 goals in Serie A this season, I wouldn't think twice about taking him, he'd be deadly in the Championship, even if for just a season.

Just because he isn't a McDermott/Cellino type player with regards to age doesn't mean every player we get in has to be 25 or younger.

Bic, I'd take a 'journeyman' like Antenucci if he bags 19 goals a season, let's be honest that's more than our current 'journeymen' bag between them. Cheer up, yeah :)

How about Scott Sinclair for some width? He has already been told to look elsewhere at City, would be a great loan signing. Sinclair, Adryan, Bianchi, supporting Sharp and Antenucci, that would have the formation set at 4-1-3-2 though.

Really hope we steer clear of the diamond formation from now on though, it's awful.

Agree Mick. That lad isn't a football player, he is a thug, no place for it in the modern game. Kick him out.

Rumours are Cellino is away at the moment, not sure how true that is, but bearing in mind he likes to be at the centre of any transfer deal I'd imagine all will be completed upon his return.

The same applies to any deal, providing Cellino is in fact away of course.
