I know the corpse is still warm, but I thought it would be an idea to make a list of the players who I think will be sold this summer and how much we are likely to get for them. Bear in mind this is a list of who I think will be sold rather than who I want to be sold and takes into account that values will decrease due to being relegated also due to the fact that Leeds have a very generous spirit when it comes to letting players leave at knock down prices. Here goes;

Meslier - £20m
Liorente - £10m
Koch - £12m
Wober - £10m
Aaronson - £20m
Adams- £25m
Harrison- £17m
Roca - £10m
Gnonto - £18m
Rodrigo - £10m

So £152m in theory plus parachute payments and maybe also selling James ( £10m) , Costa (£3m) , Roberts (£3m) if anyone should want them.

Hopefully we have some players left by August. It would be nice if we could adopt the same approach as Brighton, ie, if you want our player this is the price, if you can’t pay then go away.

Of that list, I’d try and persuade Harrison and Rodrigo to stay, I think they both get the club and have shown the passion and effort at difficult times.

Adams as well, his injury seemed to be key in the season and perhaps he could be convinced to gives us a year, take the captaincy and lead us back.

Webber, I’d like to understand why his performances seem to have gone off, is he carrying an injury, looked slow and ponderous recently. So not sure.

Willy, as above, looked like he was going to save the season and then successive managers seemed to have their doubts including big Sam who had rated him before coming here but then hardly played him.

2.) 30 May 2023 05:28:31
Wally Can see us getting more for Adams and Gnonto. £35M and £25M respectively.

3.) 30 May 2023 05:57:21
Adams was crucial and wobbers performance went down hill because Adams was not there making the team tick and protecting back four.

Think leeds will keep players rather than sell them that low. The market has changed even relegated teams get top dollar for players

If we managed to steal 42 million for a player who can hardly make a bench we will get similar for Adams mesiler and gnoto.

4.) 30 May 2023 07:40:05
The irony is that these players have taken us down and yet here we are talking about them being sold possibly to premiership clubs or better than championship leagues. Usually relegated clubs are able sell off their best few players at good prices but all of the side that’s gone down?

5.) 30 May 2023 09:16:59
I see what you’re saying Spanish, and it’s something that OP has alluded to. A lot of these players are capable of EPL (with the odd exception obviously) , but have not had the right coaching or tactical approach to help them perform to their best abilities. That plus injuries to key players who looked to be holding everything together. Put most of them with the right coach, in a different PL team, and I’m sure they will thrive.

6.) 30 May 2023 10:42:14
Some great posts. Totally agree with your summary Spanish. Adams for me I’d throw whatever he want la to get him to stay You also left Barn door Bamford off. Although he might be worth another season without the pressure of the Prem.

7.) 30 May 2023 14:24:39
Bam cam?

8.) 30 May 2023 22:15:51
Defo Bam. The meds need to seek out his physical issues. He is a quality player, as a ten. Feeding to a natural nine.

Our game hasn’t been picked by Sky for live coverage on Sunday. They’ve gone with Everton and Leicester.

Probably for the best…gives us a chance to sort out our renewal of LUTV should we need it next season.

Its on BT Sport by all accounts.

23 May 2023 11:21:34
It might be the case that the Leicester point may not be such a bad thing. Everton now need to win (or at least try to) knowing that a point may not be enough as Leicester will leapfrog them on goal difference if they win and Everton draw. That may play into our hands if these teams panic. If it was a straight fight between Leeds and Everton then Everton would rightly think that a point would be sufficient as we need a 4 goal swing as they have taken more points off us this season.

I know a lot of people will say I’m clutching at straws. Well that’s all we have I’m afraid so I make no apologies.

1.) 23 May 2023 12:03:04
Exactly as I see it.

Clutch away. we're all stating we are resigned to relegation, but secretly running [fantasies] scenarios through our head and forever hopeful.

Everton can't risk a draw though as you state.

The thing about Sunday, is that in all likelihood as the goals go in the table will flip around and each respective set of fans get their hopes up.

2.) 23 May 2023 12:30:03
We need to clutch a haystack never mind straws!

3.) 23 May 2023 12:39:52
Interesting thinking Wally ?.

Looking on the bright side injury wise, we only have 2 games left to play in January and after the 22nd Jan our next game is the 9th Feb. You’d expect by mid Feb most of our players would be back, although the way they tend to either get re-injured ( Bamford) or have seemingly mystery injuries (Rodrigo, Struijk) is concerning.
Bielsa explained again today the issues regarding buying in January. It could be argued that, albeit risky, we could muddle along until May if we feel the majority of the injured are returning soon. If I was in charge I’d be thinking of acquiring quality cover for Phillips not just for the short term but also if Phillips departs in the Summer.

I don’t know what others think but some such as Ayling, Loriente and James looked tired/ disinterested today.

1.) 09 Jan 2022 23:58:18
Yes Wally thankfully only 2 EPL games till 9 Feb but one of them is a very important game at home to Newcastle ; we really need more available goalscoring options in the team/ squad that could come with signing or getting on loan a player or two.

I really hope that MB, VO and AR do NOT intend on making no signings instead just ' muddling along ' or even worse till the end of the season on the forlorn hope that ( most) injured players return at some point,

LUFC have been unable to cope and have had far, far, far too many injured players in a far too small squad under MB and his training this season!

surely an additional striker is a must as Bamford situation is concerning now, he has hardly played, Roberts doesn't score and Rodrigo hardly plays, never fit and rarely scores.

2.) 10 Jan 2022 12:03:05
My only hope is that Bielsa finally sees that Roberts is Championship level at best as for Rodrigo. I think there is a player in there somewhere but not a striker. Whilst he has a decent first touch he is far too lightweight to compete against some of the prems top defenders. So I think I would persevere with him the big problem is where does he play?

3.) 10 Jan 2022 13:09:44
Leo its fairly irrelevant what Bielsa thinks now . Bielsa won't be here next season ( in 19 games time )

more pertinently the quality of the squad strength has been embarrassing all season ; what is the plan by Radz and 49ers for this club this window to stay in the EPL let alone Radz bs EPL Top6 wish next season

and what on earth is being done about preventing injuries in training etc and to improve on player recovery time from injuries.

4.) 10 Jan 2022 14:00:23
From the outside looking in Baz it appears to be sweet FA mate.

5.) 10 Jan 2022 14:30:38
Baz and Me Also makes a horribly ironic but utter mockery of Bielsa abilities in that he also prefers a small squad. Maybe he won't be satisfied with his murderball injuries until we line up in the PL utilizing the Sherburn in Elmet under 7s team.

Just a thought on Radz saying that we will need to sell ‘1 or 2 key players’ to effectively develop into the Leicester model. Hopefully, by ‘key players’, he means those such as Rodrigo and Roberts. If we could somehow get 30 million for Rodrigo, Roberts and Costa that could be used to strengthen. Some may argue that we can ill afford to lose 3 players, well I doubt we would really miss them. No point having the numbers just for the sake of it.

Radz is just being realistic. Leeds are amongst say, 95% of clubs that need to sell to keep moving forward. The Leeds model at the moment is hoping to acquire youngsters some of whom will be worth a sizeable amount one day or finding gems like Raph whose value can quadruple in 2 years. The better players have ambitions that we cannot match at this time in respect of salaries and competing in the champions league. In time this will change. In the short term we have to accept that the club may want to sell and players like Phillips and Raph may want to test themselves on a bigger stage. Since the Risdale days that’s how we’ve survived and eventually prospered.

I don’t think we are missing much squad wise. Obviously a Phillips and Bamford back up and possibly a creative midfielder but that will be sufficient until the Summer. Maybe get Bogusz back and give him a chance. We have too many players off form and the usual problem of having wingers, aside from Raph, who are unable to beat men and cross the ball.

Anyway. Happy New Year to you all!

Agree that in particular a PB back up along with a CAM would ( have ) help (ed) greatly this season;

the lack of goals in the team this season from all players bar Raph has really hampered this season along with the ridiculous, infuriating goals and points conceding mistakes.

2.) 28 Dec 2021 09:04:09
Rodrigo, Costa or Roberts hardly key players. More likely to be Raph or KP who might bring in decent money. The team Costa on loan with (is it Valencia) are skint skint unlikely to make the move permanent, goodness knows what has happened to Rodrigo and Roberts only just starting ro show promise but hardly likely to command big bucks.

3.) 28 Dec 2021 12:46:48
Big disappointment that those PSG takeover rumours never materialised ; that was the key to significant LUFC progression, now we have serious regression this season under Radz and co and the SF 49ers

January is huge for the LUFC usual underwhelming transfer recruitment and game fixtures as although LUFC potentially only have thankfully 3 EPL games in Jan, two of them are huge games at home to Burnley and Newcastle and LUFC still appear to have players unavailable for Burnley ( hoping for it to be postponed too )

4.) 28 Dec 2021 13:08:41
Utter bollocks baz.
Do you proof read.
Wow. Crap.

5.) 28 Dec 2021 14:24:55
Aus yes I proof read most of my posts, certainly longer ones before sending but in this case I accidentally pressed the send button before completing my post ; it happens occasionally and has happened to other posters so get over it ; cheers.

6.) 28 Dec 2021 14:35:07
Aus even with accidentally pressing the send button before completion and proof reading, the gist of the post is still evident even for you.

7.) 28 Dec 2021 16:11:11
Baz fully understand your post and agree, Radz has no funds 49s have money but no enough to make any head room on the top 6.

8.) 28 Dec 2021 18:17:12
Good to know Whitey cheers.

9.) 28 Dec 2021 23:21:56
Out of interest Baz and Whitey, on what basis do you make your assertions re funds available through 49ers not being enough to make top 6 (or 7) ?

10.) 29 Dec 2021 07:00:31
Again, just people writing what they want to believe, no different from the pundits spewing out baseless stories.

11.) 29 Dec 2021 09:33:41
Indeed, though it’s sad that anyone would want to believe that being bought through Qatari sports-washing investment would be our only hope.

12.) 29 Dec 2021 14:29:20
Clue, being bought by another company that’s already heavy invested in another team is never a good idea can’t split funds in both clubs. It’s not something that I have read it’s I what I believe in, not made up stories or from any pundits. Rads has investment in other things which is why money have not been available he’s even taking about selling before we can buy how about he doesn’t charge us rent for he ground that could go towards players.

13.) 29 Dec 2021 17:22:54
Whitey - John Henry and Tom Werner (through Fenway Sports Group) already owned Boston Red Socks before buying Liverpool, and that doesn’t appear to prevent Liverpool competing at a high level.

49ers are owned by the York family, which has an estimated wealth of around $3.5bn (possibly roughly on a par with Henry and Werner) and the 49ers Enterprise branch operation also attracts investment from other interested parties. Those we know of who’ve include Peter Lowy, a significant member of the Lowy family whose estimated wealth also runs into billions. Others known are Chad Hurley and Nick Swinburne, successful businessmen whose combined wealth is around $0.5bn. Other parties may also choose to invest through 49ers Enterprises (and some may already do so, and of course Radz may choose to remain a minority stakeholder.

You say Radz has investments in other businesses, which is obviously true, but the same applies to almost everyone else who ‘owns’ a football club.

14.) 29 Dec 2021 17:42:54
Clue thanks for the info, you may be right we can only wait and see, great post anyway.

15.) 30 Dec 2021 00:40:22
Clue, with all this wealth in the club as you say why are we in this position we could buy any body, one billion should do it lol.

Come on people, enough of the pessimism! Still more than a sixth of the season left. All our games are winnable although looking at the final championship tables for the last few years it's very unlikely the 2nd placed team would need more than 90 points. Surely no one thinks SU will win all their games and finish with 98 points? Keep the faith. Remember that the team want this just as much as we do. If we don't believe then we can't expect them to.
