So if recent rumours are to be believed, I'm not saying I do, we have missed out on Vydra and Hernandez. Personally I thought 10m + was a lot for Vydra. Surely that money could be better spent trying to convince Molde to sell us Haaland. 6M + add on after promotion would be reasonable.

Wage demands at 17 can't be too high either. I'd fancy him a lot more than the other strikers we're linked with Caicedo, Mbakogou, Hugill (loan only) . Would leave plenty of room for Bartley (looks like we might miss out on him too if we don't move soon) , a new keeper, and a loan winger.

Don't think we have any cash to spend at all. We have to make savings before we can spend anything at all. Bielsa will be gone in a month

Summer signings and offloads:

GK: Out. Lonergan and Wieldwald. In a free agent backup veteran on 1-year deal. Huffer and/or Miazek could well be ready in another season.

DEF: Out Pennington. Has not shown anything to warrant permanent deal. Cooper. Not worth the captain's armband and horrible defender in general. IN Bartley. Was there any doubt? Needs to happen. Ayling on the right Pearce on the left. Liam Lindsay from Barnsley as backup. Struijk / Halme hopefully pushing.

MID: Forshaw and Vieira should start centrally. O'Kane out. Phillips 50/50. Hernandez playing home games only (goes missing too often away) Will we still have Saiz? If the right offer made for him I'd let him go. Sacko out. Contrary to some opinions I would keep a fit Dallas. He does work hard and with confidence is actually a CH quality player. Need a pacy winger with crossing potential. Anita I'm torn over. He surely can't have been that bad a player to get in that Newcastle team. I think maybe its a case of playing him out of position too often tho can't deny a poor season. I'm very interested to see what we do with Klich too.

ST: Bu-bye lassogga. Also goodbye Ekuban and Grot. Antonsson out. Roberts hopefully playing well on injury return. Edmondson Dalby, Clarke and Sarkic to play much more. Need an experienced peak career striker to lead these lads and

Anntonson has had a great season at Blackburn so why bin him? It's like a lot of our team there playing out of their natural positions week in week out

2.) 07 May 2018 19:24:14
7 goals in 18 league games in league 1 ? Not sure it warrants a great season bud but I think we should give him another crack at it next season

3.) 07 May 2018 20:48:45
Getting promoted. There fans love and want to keep him and from what I saw of them they would have beaten us easily this season mighty

4.) 07 May 2018 21:36:14
Surprised you did not include O'Connor and Shaughnessy in defence even as backup. Thought they both did well when they played

5.) 08 May 2018 01:02:41
No mention of Pontus

6.) 08 May 2018 16:59:41
Basically agree with most of you post but you could, in theory, put out a whole different back four; Coyle, Shaugnessy, O'Connor, Denton. In MF we could have a look at Ideguchi, Machuca, Rey. Upfront there is a big decision to be made, with a plethora of young strikers and an outcry for a new purchase. Which way does he go. Hopefully one player will stand out in these next two games, score two hattricks and scotch all calls for a new signing.

Looking towards a site that informs of out of contract players to see who we might be able to sign for next season. no rumour just trying to see who we could realistically try and get. So. At the very least one CB is required and likely two if we can't hold on to Bartley.

Michael Mancienne is out of contract at Forest and he might well be good idea. Ryan Bennett and Bassong both out of contract with Norwich but wages could be an issue there. Midfield looks good in the centre but we definitely could use a winger or two as I don't see us keeping Sacko or Pedraza. George Boyd out of contract at Burnley and a player I've always liked. Up front a support striker for Wood is a most.

Personally I don't think Antonsson has been given enough of a chance but Monk clearly doesn't fancy him so. Up front we may have to spend as there are not many options on a free. Yaya Sanogo is out of contract and we were linked with him last off-season. Hasn't really done much with his career though but might be worth a chance.

Leeds Outs:
Turnbull (free) Diagouraga (free or nominal fee) , Luke Murphy (still think we can get between 250K and 500K for him) Sacko (end of loan) Pedraza (end of loan) Taylor -tribunal between £5-6M? Theoretical ins: George Boyd, Michael Mancienne, Johnny Howson (fee) Sanogo/Lafferty or some fee striker? If Forest go down then we could raid them for Jack Hobbs and eric lichaj too.

alexebab2

1.) 06 May 2017 02:44:23
Totally disagree with the players mentioned Boyd really? Howson not good enough for Norwich then not good enough for Leeds and Taylor 5-6M more like 1.5M.

2.) 06 May 2017 02:53:44
Of the expiring - Hennessey (GK) , Ledley (CM) , Leadbitter (CM) , Howson (CM/AM) , Campbell (ST) , Sanogo (ST) all potentially available and equal or a step up. Mancienne had potential but injury has killed his career, Boyd offers no more than we have in terms of goals and assists, kind of like Dallas, all work not end product. Gray (LW) wants more game time and Leicester might look to a loan rather than lose him long term. Just to shoot another name into the pot, what about Chris Samba? ok so he is 33 but currently unattached and was a beast in the prem for Blackburn and a cracking captain. Short term fix but maybe not a terrible thing, he may want one last hoorah and we need able bodies and he is willing to put his on the line.

It says a lot that we could have stolen the win tonight. Harrison. well would have been very harsh on Swansea, great spirit, tenacity, and clincal in front of goal =excellent point. Select assessments.

BPF solid 7/ 10 got a big piece of the first goal maybe should have kept it out? Two quality saves in the 2nd kept us in it tho.

Shackleton 7/ 10 understandably looked a little exposed defensively, but how good does he look going forward? Maybe his immediate future should be a little further forwards as a old school winger.

Berardi/ Ayling 7/ 10, 6/ 10 both worked hard rode their luck at times but never gave up. My assessment is that both can play CB but asking them to play together is definitely pushing it. Ayling gave the ball away a little too often going forward.

Klich competed well in midfield, had an awful lot to do after Phillips/ Baker picked up early yellows.

9/ 10 Roofe might seem a high rating but feeding off scraps and scores with his one real chance, deserves it.

I hope this brings about the discussion of a CB signing. Both realistic 1st choices inj, and as the season goes on suspensions (yes, Berardi) will inevitably leave us even more stretched than we looked tonight. Kalas from Chelsea would be fantastic.

A little disappointed that we aren't being competitive for Erling Haaland. Articles are saying that Salzburg have had a 6M + clauses bid accepted. A little raw that we clearly have the ability to compete at that price (maybe not wages or level of football this season) .

I do trust Radriazzzini/ Orta and certainly Bielsa, and this is no slight against the start our current forwards have made as Roofe has been excellent and Bamford has been good, but 6M + clauses for a player who could lead the line for the club for a decade if we earned promotion this season.

alexebab2

1.) 17 Aug 2018 13:22:45
And a player of that might go nowhere we have just as good in our academy.

2.) 17 Aug 2018 14:07:44
i do agree and think he will be good buy however we have a limted budget roofe looks very good and improves every season and bamford is clearly a better player and proven. so do we need another option when roberts is also about? could that money be better spent else where?

3.) 18 Aug 2018 10:35:43
£6M is far too much for potential, £600K would be good tho. People on here have been quick to mock the "one for the future" buys but now you want to spend £6,000,000 on one?
Anyway, time to get ready to go, see ya later after this afternoon's 3 points :)

17 Aug 2018 12:32:28
Erling Haaland scored twice the other night to knock Hibs out of Europa League. Still really wish we'd try to sign him.

Someone else posted the same thing earlier, and I agree with both of you! Big money in January maybe?

08 Aug 2018 20:01:04
Albert Adomah or Marcus Maddison if given the choice? Its a tough one. I would say transfer fee likely to be similar for both. Adomah has pace. Maddison has the eye for the pass, which would fit better with Bielsa.

Adomah would ask probably for more in wages 30K likely i think. Maddison younger and coming up a divison would probably take 15-20K.

Wingers like Adomah have a risk. One bad hamstring tear and that pace is suddenly a thing of the past at his age. I'd want Maddison. I'd be willing to take the risk on Steven Caulker as well for the mooted price over Pennington. If Caulker has figured personal issues out then its a steal.

alexebab2

1.) 08 Aug 2018 21:59:46
I really don’t see at the money that’s been speculated why we can’t get both. Take caulker who in my eyes was a very good centre back till he had personal issues, but hopefully has sorted them. But at £7mil for all 3 I’d barely call that a gamble.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 01:58:46
Adomah for me, Maddison has better goals and assists per game, also younger so more exciting, but has never played at the same level Adomah has. One you know can play at this level, one might be able to, let's be fair any player can get crocked by injury.
Caulker in a heartbeat, issues aside he is prem class all day long. Worth the risk on the cheap. Either huge upgrade if back on it or good back up if still fragile. Better than another Pennington loan either way.

Today was a great day for us. Not to be a doomsayer but realistic this result can go one of two ways for us.

1.It convinces Radriazzini that the squad as it is can go and compete at the highest level in this league therefore does not invest.

2. Realises that with that extra push we can pretty much guarantee ourselves a play-off place at the very least if we can keep those kind of performances up goes out and gets those two quality players that makes the difference.

I'll say this. Cooper, Phillips, Klich, were not the same players today. They were all outstanding. I worry more about Berardi at cb tho obviously he'll be the one to drop out for Pontus.

Speaking of whom, the way he attacks the ball at set pieces. Douglas + Jansson + Cooper = 7-12 goals from set piece deliveries I think. Douglas looked just a tad shaky at the back at times but could just be settling. Ayling just superb as he almost always is.

Phillips today ran the gauntlet with the two-footer tackle. unneccessary and could have left us in the lurch with 10 men. Also at fault for the pen. Beyond that best performance I've seen from him. Seems harsh but the ref would have been within rights to give him marching orders technically speaking.

Hernandez, Saiz and alioski all put in shifts, Saiz excellent at times and Pablo asked the question of Butland.

Roofe probably the hardest working player. One point in the first half a slide tackle on Allen and fights to win a throw deep in Stoke territory. loved it. My one concern with him was he didn't seem very clinical today and that's his theme generally.

A word for Bailey looked pretty assured. I was a bit nervous when he came and headed out from edge of area but shot stopping leaves me calm with the keeper for the first time since Greeny.

I said in the past that another midfielder should be top priority and I still think we need one. However, looking at Klich contributions now I'd swap that to second with another centreback (not Pennington) top of the list.

1.) 06 Aug 2018 08:35:37
Douglas a bit shaky? He probably made one mistake which he recovered from, I don't remember him giving the ball away and kept Ince quiet.

2.) 06 Aug 2018 09:32:06
Getting the right person, with the right skills, right attitude and at the right price isn’t easy! Not just about spending money. Who deserved to be dropped and replaced on yesterday’s performance. Agree that Cb cover needed before the end of the loan period.

3.) 06 Aug 2018 12:57:48
Speaking of money spent, Stoke paid decent cash for the Nigerian lad who had a good WC, looked to me like they have found their own Roque Jnr :)

Hope you are right, if so we are set for central midfield with Woods, Forshaw, Klich, Baker and Phillips. As I see it it would be Woods and Forshaw first choice if the deal happens and when Forshaw is back from injury. Klich has a massive chance to make midfield his own tho after that performance.

The problem is though even when he doesn't make errors you can see it in the defensive players now - they expect those errors. Both goals yesterday came because of uncertainty. The equaliser definitely in the last minute most of all. The corner could have been avoided if there was a shout and confidence in the keeper. It happened two or three other times for the first goal too and another needless corner because Forshaw wasn't sure.

Guarantee every opposition scout is saying put the ball down Wiedwald's throat. He'll flap and give at least one goal every time. Brightwhite, is it fair to say that BPF is better or worse? He's played only one senior game so far 1-1 vs QPR and he played fine on the day if i recall (beaten by a penalty) i'd like to see him given a chance as I believe we can't make the play-offs.

Would at least let us know where we stand with all three senior keepers going into summer window. Lonergan despite his mistakes can at least command his box. Also has history of being a good goalkeeper. A poor spell of form can be temporary for Lonners but in Wiedwald's case i think his class is league 1.

I'd have let Erwin have a little longer in pre-season before letting him go. He's scoring goals. We do need to move midfielders on we have too many. Vieira, Phillips, Bridcutt, O'kane, Saiz, Hernandez, Klich, diagouraga is too many in cdm/cm/cam. I'd personally move on Dave and Hernandez. Hernandez fell away badly towards the end of last season. He's 32 would be on high wages, has a poor career injury record less than 300 career apps. Saiz is younger and I feel would last the season much better. Put Hernandez wages to a new LB/CB. Dave unfortunately never recovered from QPR it seems. six for two or three central roles depending on the formation is about right. Not overloaded and would cover for injuries and suspensions.

i would certainly have him but at a reduction on his current wage maybe try and convince to take player/coach role? he won't be a starter and his age/injury record means we can't give him much but i'd love him to stay

I think of the young guns Pearce needs to retain his place for the rest of the season and BPF. Of the rest Dalby looks most ready to step up and enjoy some game time. Too soon for some but maybe struijk, clarke and temunzhukov could get some time right at the end of the season. Don't forget we still have Tyler Roberts to come back from injury soon hopefully (cracked shin) . Though he is still 19 he is used to first team football. He's meant to be quite pacy too so if he does well I'd think about selling Roofe in the summer to get a £1m or 2 for other signings.

I see us getting £25-30m if Saiz and Jansson decide to leave. If Radriazzini keeps both and invests £10m in first-team players in the summer then I honestly see us in the play-offs/fighting for promotion. If we can find £4m GK as good as Forshaw is in midfield and a CB the same then I see us there. move out O'Kane and I think we are there if we keep everyone we need to. I'd assess Ideguichi in the summer before a new midfielder is bought, though I feel I'd like an enforcer type to give the defence some protection. I wish we still had Bridcutt tbh as him and Forshaw would have been formidable imo. I'd lose Cibicki too and unless Sacko shows something between now and the end of the season then him too. I see Vieira really stepping up next season and some first team minutes for some of the U23s surely. Don't forget Roberts injury means he will be like a new signing hopefully before the end of the season. Wilks is scoring goals in his loan spells. At a lower level yes but it at least suggests he is worth a proper look in pre-season. Bailey Peacock-Farrell Temenuzhkov, Tom Pearce, Matty Downing, Halme, Struijk, Jack Clarke, and Sam Dalby all sound like players who could be worth a shot between now and the end of the season once/if play-offs become impossible. I feel its really important to gauge the actual first-team readiness of some of the players in the next three months to better ascertain depth.

Personally I think Lonergan just had a 'mare vs Brentford and that he will be alright for the rest of the season. If I turn out to be wrong I'd rather we give Bailey Peacock-Farrell a shot before spending for another GK. After all I understand he is rated well. We have 3 goalkeepers in our club who could be considered, 1 of them should work for the rest of the season. I back Lonners personally for now
