Ed2. The debate is about the money we are not spending and whether the squad is good enough at present. Spending £5m to £10m on 4 or 5 players who have room to develop further, young Gradel, Bechio or Snodgrass types, who will strengthen the squad, would give us a better chance at promotion, would not just be spending money to placate fans. Those 3 players would have gotten us promoted last season . This would not be gung-ho spending either in would be sensible investment in players.

That’s not unreasonable 70. Tho I think for those players now, you’d be looking at £30 million, so far toward madness that the market has gone. I believe this is where the idea of investing in youth has come from, so that we create those players.

Apologies to Word-count Aus in advance.

Some on here seem pretty convinced that we will not be buying any more new players this window, and I think someone referred to twitter comments from Phil Hay to back this up. Not sure I've seen the original comments but reports suggest he merely advised we would not be buying anyone at CB, CF or in midfield.

Granted most on here (including me) are keen to see CB addition, but I've seen him rule out any additions to the squad. We know Bielsa took in the Bradford v Liverpool game and that we trialed Max Johnstone in goal v Tad, and that BPF has not got any recent pre-season minutes.

This suggests we may be on the lookout for a no2 goalkeeper and it would seem Bielsa was scouting at Bradford (presumed to be for another advanced wide player) . So we would seem to be in the market, possibly for other positions too.

It could be that Bielsa is thinking that Costa or another winger would be able to play as a Roofe-style striker or perhaps that three wingers could interchange positions throughout a match - causing mayhem to any defence set up to contain our attacking threat - which could explain the supposed interest in another winger. I guess he probably feels Bambam and Edmondson can fill the target-man role when required.

Not saying I'm necessarily happy or if that proves to be the case. Just that we may not be done in the transfer market just yet.

Love the positive spin, really interesting way to look at the situation.

As all were ready to move up BIGE, I can only guess a certain MB didn’t think they were going to cut the mustard? And maybe taking up match places of others that he rates as having greater potential? Doubt we gave them away either, all will have commanded a fee. Of course, I’m only speculating here, as no one knows for sure who has been making the calls on these lads.
Of those who have or are going, Nicell is the biggest surprise to me.
