Some of us have been around a long time so what memory sticks in your mind about your love of Leeds. Mine is from the late seventies. I was hanging with the service crew at that time so should explain my mentality at that age.
Paul Madeley had opened a sports shop on Roundhay Road and vans used to unload in the street at the back of the shop. I was passing and three lads were loading up with trainers and me being me at the time waded into them cause Paul was Leeds. Must say i was not on the winning side when two guys came out of the shop and chased them off. One was the driver and the other was Paul
They took me in the shop to clean me up and i got chatting. We got onto his playing career and he said his biggest regret was saying no to Alf Ramsey. Said he wished he had gone to Mexico even though he doubted he would get a game. Said the frustrating thing for him was being used all over the pitch and not tying down a defensive role at Leeds. He then said, but i was playing for Leeds with a team of internationals so would have played anywhere. Bielsas sort of player.
Anyway they stuffed some cotton wool up my nose stuck a plaster on my eye and then he says pick a pair of trainers. I was over the moon i got him to sign them and was using them as bragging rights for months lol.
