You never know if players are going to be the right fit. On paper we look like we are getting there but only time will tell. On paper the last major signing is the Hernandez replacement. De Paul looked the part but not sure if he will come. Others Berkley, a lad from Ukraine among others. what's certain is that we need a creative midfielder. Who knows but we will struggle over the season without one.

No matter who they are all recruits are a gamble some (Messi) less than others (JKA) but there are so many variable factors to account for (most outside your control) . Many need carefull study, of which Bielsa is famous, but even he cannot guarantee against the likes of homesickness etc.

Would take Berkley over Loftus Cheek. Both talented and creative attacking midfielders (although neither are perfect) .
Think Berkley playing for Bielsa in this team with regular game time would motivate him so much and we could end up unleashing an absolute beast. Think the same could also be true if we get Kent.
Ideal player though is still De Paul. Put him in this team, working under Bielsa and before Christmas he'd be like Eden Hazard.
Also a massive shame that Benrahma decided to portray that kind of image of himself otherwise I think he would have already been signed. ALAW.

{Ed001's Note - more to the point Loftus-Cheek has a back problem that would make it a real struggle for him to play for a Bielsa team, as he can barely keep fit to play.}

Good point Ed001. Shame for him as well because he is quality.

{Ed001's Note - brilliant player, it is a real shame.}

"You never know if a player is going to be the right fit". absolutely.

That is why I like the policy of loan-to-buy that Cellino and now Radz has employed at the club. We have had many more successes than failures since we introduced it. (I include loaning a player and then returning him if he doesn't fit in as a success) .

Harrison
Costa
Meslier

Pontus before that

Our big misses were White and Barkley in my opinion

Fortunately I don't think it's as much of a gamble when your targets are established international class players in the top leagues in the world. The table from which we are eating from these days. Mind you I still think having a good luck at a player prior to the final finances helps both parties (see my posts about JKA in the past)
