I naturally always want the boys to win, and a run beyond the early rounds would make a pleasant change.

However, just like last season when promotion was the priority I consider staying up this year far outweighs any risks with our more important first team players.

Like to see the side predominantly made up of u23s I would not risk Pablo his excellent cameo against Spurs said he was back to the required fitness levels.

Wet pitch against a Team like Crawley who will be looking to STOP Leeds playing it would be pointless to lose Pablo or even Struick for six weeks at present.

Their Manager Yems makes Steve Evans look like an etiquette instructor. It will be lots of fierce challenges and I would rather not take the risk with our key players, we’re not going to win it and tv money says cup run not as crucial as previous seasons.

Totally agree Class on priorities

And we certainly don't want any further injuries to first team squad players, so in that case best not even play Pablo, Shack and Struik.

Play the U23s only .

Yeah, let's do what Bournemouth did every season, that'll guarantee premier league survival?
As shown in comments below, being a fan is about memories. Just think, being a fan of a club who just want to stay in the Premier league, means unless you get an owner with unlimited funds you will never win a trophy, ever!
Plus, WE AIN'T GOING DOWN!, so why not give it a go, as we could probably beat anyone on our day. 🏆.

Class, BV, that's a big thumbs up from me.

I definitely don't want to see our crucial players being risked. The opposition are a lower league team, let's see which of our successful U23 squad are capable of competing on level terms with those sorts of players. After all, at the end of this season Bielsa and his team are going to have to choose the next set of players to loan out as part of their development.
If Cooper has enough fitness then I think its reasonable to expect him to lead the side, and protect Struick who is coming on nicely. Casilla could be expected to step up and allow Meslier another day of eating pies to bulk up his frame. Roberts could be given a swansong before his muted transfer.
That's 3 internationals in the team, so its not like we are disrespecting the opposition or the competition.

We are where we are Danum. In a few seasons we all of course want to push on and get back among the competitive teams but for now its our first season back in the top league after a decade and a half away so let's focus on staying up, adding to the squad and then moving forward from a position of strength. Besides I want to see how good these ones for the future really are.

Spot on Alf and Axe
Danum, if our U23s cannot be competitive enough to match Crawley then it will show they are a million miles off being EPL standard.
This is our first season back, staying up is tbe only priority this season.

I agree imagine Bamford or the keeper getting injured and we could be bang in trouble

we have great youth. use them. blood them and let them knock on the first teams door

I don't think we are going down but belisa teams do suffer second half of season and a lot of premier league promoted teams start well then fade

I am sure there are many but Blackpool and Norwich come to mind, the started well then faded to relegation. I don't think we will but it ain't over till the fat gender neutral person sings.

I think it's also important that when Haaland joins us in the summer, he's joining the 2021 FA Cup winners. Therefore, play the U-23s because they're good enough.
