Phil Hay recently tweeted that he thinks Rodrigi is turning out to be a disappointing and baffling signing “I don’t doubt he’s a good player, genuinely. But it’s hard to be convinced that he’s the right player for this team or this system. Put it this way. If Bamford is fit next weekend then your inclination would be to start him. ”.

Alf Precisely what I said when he joined. RHC my buddy my witness.

Griezmann had the same problem at Barcelona, look how he is playing now he is back at Athletico.

Both good players, just certain moves don't work put for what ever reasons.

Have to say that the lack of character assassination is a pleasant surprise. It would be nice if Rodrigo's luck changed for him but its uplifting to not be reading how crap he is, from posters who could never imagine reaching the standards that this man has attained.

Axe He's a player. With substantial skill. Just not for us, doesn't fit in with either our system or English football generally. Too physical and hurly burly for him. Mistake not to sell or loan to Valencia when opportunity arose.

Axe, the thing that surprised me most about this post was that Alf was quoting something said by Phil Hay, that never to be trusted mouthpiece of those scoundrels and incompetents currently blighting our great Club.

You see Clu, I can post things so that they are more palatable to you, while still proving the point that Orta is incompetent. 😀.

Clue, got to give Alf his due though, he isn't lambasting everything Hay says. He is open minded to any person having similar opinions as well as differing ones. And he isn't spouting bile about the man.
I love reading the differing opinions on here, I just hate the personal attacks that some think they are allowed

Agreed that Rodrigo hasn't performed how we, and probably he, would have hoped. But better to have that quality around the team (top leagues, international, nous) as a good example.

No Alf - you’re merely proving that you’ll quote anyone when you believe that what they’ve said supports your narrative, even if the previous day you’ve dismissed all they’ve said which doesn’t support your narrative as being irrelevant because he’ll say or write whatever the Board what’s him to, and won’t write anything that calls the Board’s judgment into question. You seem sometimes to tie yourself in knot.

You can say it of me, indeed you just have, but it doesn’t mean it’s true.

I’ll happily admit that Hay has said he’s disappointed and baffled by the signing of Rodrigo. It’s precisely because he’s willing to say such things that I don’t look at the rest of what he has said and written with as much suspicion as you.

And, incidentally, I recognise that as DoF at Leeds Orta has management responsibility for all transfers at Leeds, both the ones that have turned out well and the ones that haven’t, just as Jon Rudkin has at Leicester. I just try to point out that there are many factors that can influence the decision to sign each player, and also whether each signing works out well or doesn’t, and many of the determining factors to success or otherwise were not known when the signing was made.

As I’ve said several times before, I used to be very critical of Orta, but at that time I had less knowledge of these matters, having not been bothered to look into it.
