Phil Hay stating in the Athletic today that Bielsa sends players out on loan that he sees have no future at Leeds ( whilst he remains coach)

Does seem to be the case thinking of players that have been sent out on loan and then sold / give away

and in which case it would therefore appear ( as indeed PH indded alludes to )

that one of Clueless 's tips Bogusz maybe a tad surprisingly and disappointingly have no future ( under Bielsa at least) at Leeds.

Baz Can see Bogusz being exception due to our aging and declining midfield.

Baz - Hay said that in a response within a Q&A type format prior to the Wolves match, rather than in a thought-through article. He also said it tends to be the case that loaned out players have reached the end of the line - and to date it is certainly the case that no player sent out on loan during Bielsa’s tenure has made it into the first team squad.

However, Bielsa said at the beginning of this season that (at least for some of the most recent players to leave - such at Robbie Gotts) he feels that to be a failure on his part, for not enabling them to progress to the required level.

Also Bogusz signed a three year contract (with the option for a further season extension to June 2024) ) before going out on his first loan. If they were just giving a new contract and sending him out on loan to safeguard his value before putting him in the shop window, it might seem strange to have an extension clause - unless that’s a safeguard against the loan being a failure, necessitating a further loan to drum up interest.

Leeds Live also reported that Leeds advised Bogusz that a loan move to Legia Warsaw, however successful, would not be sufficient to provide a way into the Leeds squad next season (though if he really wanted to go to Warsaw, they were prepared to sell him) and that the Spanish second league was considered better than the Polish league. Leeds Live suggested that both that advice and the refusal to insert a buyout clause for UD Ibiza indicated that the door was open for Bogusz to return. A cynic could of course suggest both could also help Leeds get a better transfer fee in due course.

Only time will tell, but Bielsa’s musings in August about loaned out players could perhaps suggest there is a possibility for players who really embrace the challenge and make a persuasive case for themselves.

Thanks for the info Clu

I do really wonder if there is possibly another issue too : namely Bielsa perhaps being unimpressed by Bogusz ( possibly perceived "tantrum") in talking to the media in the summer about his frustrations at not being given a chance to play for LUFC 1st team

we have seen what has happened in the past very regrettably to Pablo and Pontus from alleged perceived "tantrums"

I have witnessed Bielsa give dozens of chances to Tyler Roberts with little to no success ; it's more than reached the point that I would love to have a goalscoring talented midfield player in Bogusz be given a chance ( instead of Roberts ) in LUFC 1st team squad/ bench.

Baz - that is possibility, yes. If so, we can only hope that he makes such a compelling case throughout the rest of the season, that Bielsa is moved to view that indiscretion as merely the enthusiasm of youth and give him a second chance. It is just possible that, if Bielsa took exception to such comments, he has challenged him to knuckle down and prove just how much he wants and deserves that chance in the first team. Leeds Live’s report does suggest they feel Bogusz’s performance to date with Ibiza is indicative of a more focused approach by the lad.
