Let's face it we are still in the self defeating cycle since Ken Bates took his bat home. The quality of our academy is excellent and we continue to bring on talented young players. However they never have the chance to develop alongside quality experienced players. Lads like Bremner came in and had a bit of experience around them. If you ask fans who is our best player many would say Cook. That shouldn't be. He is 18 years old with a lot to learn but the weight of expectation is too high. At the moment is decision making is not brilliant at times and his composure in front of goal is poor. But no matter he will get there with the right support. let's look at the team. We have a very good (potentially) goalkeeper who makes mistakes. He is young and there is little back up. The back four is solid enough but makes mistakes and is unbalanced (3 centre halves can't be good. The mid field is not strong or creative enough and we haven't got a natural goal scorer. For us to win we need the four parts of that team playing at least at 90% effectiveness and very few mistakes. Against Wednesday first half three out of four were good but no goals. Second half at best only two and there were mistakes. Comparing Leeds with Wednesday, who I don't think will go up. They have better goalkeeping options. Their back four is not much better (if at all) than ours. Their mid field is significantly better. Bannan is better than Bridcutt and Forrestierie is better than the rest of ours. Up front they have Hooper is not much good at anything other than scoring goals so he stays put where he is most effective. We have strikers who play all over the park and have trouble getting into the box when needed. Given the state of the club we can't attract the best available if other clubs come in as well. Take Lafferty. If he's our choice. A striker who can't get into a team that can't score goals. Worse still, he only became interested in us when he realised he wasn't wanted anywhere else. We generally don't get the players we actually want. Bridcutt was a good loan but Wednesday did better with Bannon. We didn't get Forrestierie but Wednesday did and then Hooper. A striker who can actually score. Wednesday are doing so much better than us and I still don't think they will go up. We need to get our reputation sorted, stop the owner insulting players that don't do as he likes, let the manager manage and spend cash on players we actually want and not on poor substitutes when we don't the ones we actually want.

Come on eds. Are we really going to allow these beardist comments on our site? 😊.

Agree Hess on everything you say except Bannan. Different type of midfielder to Bridcutt and imo he flatters to deceive.

Wondered if anyone would question the Bannan idea. Looking at him on Saturday. He put himself about and broke up a lot of our possession. He also intercepted a lot of passes and whilst been exactly the same as Bridcutt he's near enough to draw a comparison. He just seemed busier and his passing and reading of the game was also good. Bannan didn't do that well at Leeds but we were playing 'hoofball' at the time. Don't get me wrong though I like Bridcutt but he is still on loan.
