I know this isn't specifically leeds related but it does concern us. Congrats to the udinese B team aka watford for winning 6-1 yesterday. What a disgrace to english football. How can a club be allowed to buy 9 players in one go from the same team, probably for £9 as well. I wouldn't matter because the money goes straight to the same people. Watford are a mockery to english football. They don't deserve to be in the championship let alone the premier league. I personally think that every Club should go on strike. How else can this mess be sorted out? Ridiculous.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I disagree fair play to them for their win today so what if they win6-1 just worry about leeds and tell me this would you turn down the chance to be in their position as a club with class players because I woultned Napoli owner wants to do the same and I woultned mind us being Napoli B if it got us up.

Agree0 Disagree0

We would do the exact same thing.

Plus all those loans are now permanent transfers.

Crmd

Agree0 Disagree0

It was only bournemouth, going to be the whipping boys this season

Agree0 Disagree0

So you would rather we become a napoli B team (italian not english) than go up properly? No. that's wrong. If the same happened to us I would still think it would be wrong. I would be ashamed of our victories. What has english football come to nowadays? No dignity and certainly not any english! Watford have few english players. They aren't an english club.

Agree0 Disagree0

It take promotion either way! The easier the better so is do te same if we could!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the original post. Watford continue to bend the rules. They get away with this due to 2 or 3 clubs having same owners. This can t be right. Personally I d prefer to stay in the championship than become Napoli B or even Barcelona B.

If Byram turns out to be half as good as kelly he'll be useless.JD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You obviously never saw Kelly play then did ya pal?he was immense

Agree0 Disagree0

Kelly was quality . Loyal, a positive influence in the dressing room and a cracking fullback .

Agree0 Disagree0

If Eva a post wants bining it this one Leeds could have sold Kelly 10 times over for top doller and Kelly himself could have earned more money but he stayed loyal Redebe was the same and Liverpool wanted him he said no top Leeds players

Agree0 Disagree0

The OP is way, way off the mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Kelly was badly treated by Dennis Wise, who wouldn't play him because he was earning too much.He gave his whole footballing career to Leeds United, his experience would have been invaluable

Agree0 Disagree0

Kelly was leeds legend. great player and loyal. very quick read game well no real weakness and good free kick as well when needed. op should be banned for being rediucals

Agree0 Disagree0

I know this page is all about opinions, but the poster who said gary kelly was useless, words fail me.are these people for real?what a great pro!

Anybody else think that for next year instead of playing a Non-league team in the middle of nowhere at the beginning of pre-season, we should play against a Leeds United Legends and Old Boys XI at Elland Road?

It's still a good fitness exercise and would draw a great crowd increasing money for the transfer pot (I'd love to go to this)

The Old Boys XI
1- It would be two teams playing 45 mins each (with unlimited subs between them all to keep them fit)

2-(Older players just small amounts of playing time at a time)

3-Given Them a couple of the younger lads as well (good for their morale to play with some of the famous ones)

- I was thinking player wise in no particular order

GK: Neil Sullivan/ Alex Cairns

DR: Gary Kelly/ Danny Mills
DC: Richard Naylor/ Leigh Bromby/ Ross Killock
DC: David Wetherall/ Michael Duberry/ Lucas Radebe
DL: Dominic Matteo/ Andy Hughes/ Ian Harte
ML: Aidan White/Jason Wilcox
MC: Lee Bowyer/ Gary McAllister/ Vinny Jones/ Chris Dawson
MC: Erik Bakke/ David Batty/Stephen McPhail
MR: Sam Byram/ Eddie Lewis

No I think farsley is the ideal place to start pre season

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem to forget a lot of these ex players will have commitments with other clubs / businesses etc it would be a logistical nightmare.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know how anyone could disagree with that idea mate . Think it is a great idea . I would love to see some of them lads back for day ( vinnie jones ) my hero . My god what a day that would be . Mot .

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I don't agree with the above players I think it is a good idea

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

(OP) Still go to Farsley as well! I was on about other clubs that are far away, it would be nice to be in Leeds a bit more for change

Agree0 Disagree0

Great idea. Could get a lady or 2 in the opposing team like on Lucas' testimonial (although we got into trouble for that). And maybe the lad who Vinny famously cut down with THAT tackle. Will defo get a good crowd but can't see it happening.
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

No we should play real madrid monaco like leicster and bourmouth have

Pointless question guys I know but just interested to know who fellow leeds fans think is leeds best right back?a young Gary Kelly when he first broke through in to the team or Sam Byram from last season?who do you think ed? {Ed013's Note - Its difficult to compare due to the nature of the teams they played in. Sam Byram has huge potential and can play in a number of positions. Gary Kelly was consistent and a very loyal player to this club. Due to what Gary achieved and Sam only having 1 season so far I have to go with Gary Kelly. By the way, it isn't a pointless question, I prefer things like this being on the site. It gets more people involved and is a lot better than FACT, or my Uncles Brothers Mother etc!!!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If sam turns out to be nearly half has good as Kelly it will do for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I rated Mel Sterland above both but Sam could turn out to be our best ever if we can get him fit again

Agree0 Disagree0

Kelly was immense - looking back through some of the old games and his passing, dribbling and tackling was excellent. He still looked as good at RM as he did at RB.
Wished he was playing in our team now (obviously when at his peak, not at the age he is now lol)

Agree0 Disagree0

You lot obviously never saw Paul Reaney if you think any of the above were our best right backs, also Danny Mills and Madley when asked to play there much better .As for Kelly being loyal? I remember when we desperately needed him to go to Sunderland to get him off our wage bill, but he wouldn't go because he wouldn't drop his wages and wanted a testimonial, which to be fair he gave to charity .As do most millionare players these days . {Ed013's Note - I believe the first poster only gave 2 options!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw Gary Kelly at his best and he was excellent. Also saw him torn apart by a very fast and skillful winger who we went on to buy probably on the strength of that performance. Never played that well for us. Think it was Huckerby. Went on to play for Norwich! Things don't change that much.

Agree0 Disagree0

I always thought Gary Kelly was very underated I use to love watching his battles with Ryan Giggs. For me at the time i'd have said a young Gary Kelly was the best right back in the premier league and probably one of the best in Europe.Still think Byrams got a long way to go before he's in the same league as Kelly but I think he's got potential to be.Has it stands young Sam wouldn't look out of place as a regular Premier league right back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Still kelly for me. FACT! Vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Kelly & Mel Sterland both right back legends! Never forget that goal Sterland scored at Bramall Lane from about 35 yard! I were only about 10 year old & had never seen a goal like it. Think it were boxin day & finished 2 a piece, my old man used to take me home & away - them were the days!

Nice to be able to spend $6m on one player. If qpr. Reading and wigan don't go straight back up this season their manages need shooting. How can parachute payments fit in with fair play? Not saying the $6m striker will be any good but still unfair. Fair in my eyes is taking all the money available and give it to the team that gets the biggest crowds! Or. Divide it equally, bet no one thought of that!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is unfair. Relegated Prem teams get an £18m parachute payment this season followed by 2 separate payments of £8m over the next 2 seasons! This is what we & others have to compete with, making BM & GFH contribution even more important. Investment is the key!

Agree0 Disagree0

It is only going to get worse. due to the new tv deals coming into effect I believe the parachute payments will be 20m 1st year, 20m 2nd, and 10m 3rd and 4th years.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair we won't have been moaning when we got our parachute payments although it probably got paid in then straight back out again to someone!

Let's hope we can keep the great excitement and form going on Sunday.
Still we have to remember we are a good side and match for anyone prob on the day but we are still short of been serious promotion candidates.
No far short but we do still need 2 or 3 in.
Let's not panic or stop believing once we lose a game .we are not finished article yet. Shrew leeds
