Am happy we've signed Tonge - I think he was one of our better players in recent weeks. Hopefully there will be a few more big signings (a big strong defender to guide pearce or lees / decent left back and a proppa old school winger - a lad who will take on players and knock the ball in the box)
But overall I'm feeling good for second half of season only a few points off play offs and were the greater team in the world!
Would be great to see us smash Barnsley 3 or 4 nil

Some people on here are playing too much football manager. Some of the comments about gfh having no money, how would you know? So we havent spent 10 million yet, so what. Were now a well run club not paying stupid money for average players. We should be thankful and learn from our mistakes, the majority investment will most likely come in the summer when the club can re evaluate. GFH are an investment company, in other words they wouldnt spend 52 million on a football club if they were skint, especially off of KB. If in a year we are no better off I will retract my words. And I hate us loaning players so getting contracts tied up is first priority, and whatever we think of Tonge we definitely missed him. We will get 6 from 6 next two games. MOT. Vinny. {Ed013's Note - Well said}

Look at this on ssn Becchio was one of the top ten targets to avoid signing and this is the reason why.

I have copied and pasted direct from the site

Luciano Becchio

Luciano Becchio: Risky purchase
Although Becchio has an impressive record for Leeds and lies third in the Championship top-scorers list with 15 goals, it's clear that he's currently playing at the very peak of his powers. At 29, there is little room for improvement in the striker's ability and any move for Becchio by a Premier League club would only serve as a desperate quick-fix mid-way through the season. It's likely that the Argentine would struggle with the step up to the top flight and all things considered, it would be best not to hand Leeds an inflated fee this month.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Much as I love the guy, and I don't want him to move because he loves the club, I kind of agree with this article. Even though I would have him ahead of anyone, he has always been our second pick really (well at the start of each season that is). McCormack was the man at the start of this season, and Becchio always played second string to Beckford...Saying that, I think he has more LEEDS heart than both put together, and that is why he plays himself into the team, and thats what makes him my favourite. Warnock loves him for the exact same reasons, and I believe no matter what the price, he shouldn't be sold, he will be a better Leeds player than he would be for any other club.

Fredh MOT

Agree20 Disagree2

People were saying that when were promoted from league 1 - I'd back him in the premiership anyday

Agree10 Disagree3

Couldn't agree more, epitomises that proverbial 'extra 10%' you get from players like Beccio who are committed in their hearts and minds to a club/cause/whatever. Worth more than we would ever get for him in transfer fee's.

Nakhi Wells will not be joining anyone any time soon. Andy Gray is cup tied, so the part-ex rumour is rubbish. and why would he want to leave when he has such a huge chance to play at Wembley? just to join a "Bigger club"... i wouldn't.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Wembley, or Having Leeds United on your CV...think about it lad.

Agree7 Disagree2

The City vs Villa 2nd leg is played on the 22/01/13 so he could arive well before the close of the window. I don't want the player myself he is an unknown quantity. Who knows if he is the player he was for a sustained period especially at this level and for what we are hoping is a promotion push.

But say City do get knocked out of the cup and we wanted him then there would be nothing keeping him at City.

That said I wouldn't say it couldn't happen but the part-ex is rubbish as is any other definite signing of him until after conclusion of the League cup tie.

Agree1 Disagree0

Unknown quantity! Good job we've never done that before. Gradel and Beckford??

Agree2 Disagree1

With Gradel Leeds was a league 1 club.

With Beckford Leeds loaned him for experience then played when we was a league 1 club, so your point while valid does not show that all unknown players have worked out well, there are others such as Somma Becchio that have all worked but again as a league one club.

With NW and his view on experience I would be surprised if he would go for such an unknown quantity. Particularly when you have players at the club such as Poleon who is waiting in the wings and imo is more than equal to Nahki.

Agree3 Disagree0

Wembley any time. this isn't the 1970's any more.

Sell Byram and get some proper cash into club.. 5-6 mill i suggest! Potentially a good player but don't think he gonna be the new Gareth Bale and just now a bit light weight for defence. 6 mill would buy 4 top notch championship players. ie Curtis Davies, Albert Adomah, David Vaughan and dare i say it... Ian Harte. I'd say Faurlin out of our reach but hey you never know! {Ed013's Note - Sam Byram has been our best player this season, why sell him for the players you mention}

He is the only player to play every game this season, and played well. and 19?

Byram is pure class selling him would be a shocker. He's only young and will only get better!

Agree2 Disagree1

Do you really think we need to sell at this present time ?

Agree2 Disagree0

We always big up our young players and lets be honest byram has had a good season and he has potential but is he gonna be really THAT GOOD. I say cash in for 8 mill if funds are as low as i think they are. Agree with players mentioned too. {Ed013's Note - Having watched Sam all season he has great potential, but I cant see anyone paying 8 million}

Dross on the Books,

Just flicked through the Leeds squad and can't believe the amount of dross that is still there so much dead wood that needs clearing away. These guys take a wage and will never be the players that we need for me this is a major problem we can't keep bringing players in when you have players taking wages who you can't get shut of really wish they would do the right thing and mutually terminate there contracts.

GK Rachubka
RB Connolly
CB Bromby
CB Kisnorbo
LM Pugh
CM Brown
CAM Nunez
ST Varney
That's easily 8 players that we could lose and we wouldn't notice, think of the budget that would leave for players that we actually need, wish that these guys would just leave without holding out.

(I am aware that certain players are injured and short term loan)

Believable9 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2013 17:37:38
I agree with that but I think Nunez should be given a chance

Agree5 Disagree6

Too lightweight and trigger happy. He needs to bulk up and become more disciplined and he's not going to get the time to do that here.

Agree4 Disagree2

Original poster Nunez would be an exceptional player for us with games and experience, however we have failed to deliver a regime that as enabled Nunez to develop.

Nunez was signed in 2010 and his best period of time was when he was loaned to Scunthorpe playing 8 times in a short period and scoring 3 goals.

He has been under used at Leeds and should have been loaned out consistently to aid his development rather than been left to rot in youth and reserve team football.

This said unless Leeds change their management of Nunez then we need to get rid of him, despite his raw ability that he has.

Agree6 Disagree1

Agree with all except Paddy. he did his bit for us.

We are looking rather weak on the left at the moment so need to sign a Lm and a Lb next . If we don't before the game at weekend i would play drury lb and mccormack or somma as the left side of an attacking 3 and play 4-3-3

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I would play somma on the left.... Left at home playing with himself, he is awful

McCormack playing left of the 3 is the best option, with White used as defensive 4-3-2-1 option.

Gfh out! You pleb. persons like you that should be out. Go support town if you really are that stupid!

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Although i don't condone the certain fans saying GFH out
i also think they are entitled to their opinion and its not your place to tell anyone who they should support

Agree9 Disagree3

Have to say they're some crazy LUFC fans out there put then again they are wound up by LUST with the propaganda that they put out. Very misleading at times.

It stirs fans up and creates knee-jerk reaction like people calling for GFH out.

When in truth the signing of Tonge is a solid signing and what we need.

Agree6 Disagree0

Everyone is entitled to their own faults. Your very narrow minded if you think the years of misery under Bates is all forgotten and everything is dandy now GFH are here.
They haven't shown any intent yet and its a case of them proving themselves first and foremost. They need to earn the respect and loyalty of the fans back - blind obedience is what kept Bates thriving and many people are still weary about it.
I myself am sitting on the fence until the end of January before jumping on any bandwagons. If there is little to no investment then GFH will be tarred with the same stigma as Bates. Bringing in new owners doesn't make anyone feel any better until they start healing the club from the Bates torture.

Agree3 Disagree2

Well put last poster. We can not be that slack and say GFH are the best thing since sliced bread for buying are club because it means nothing unless things have changed. If i have a whole in my living room wall and i covered it with a picture, then thought I'll change that picture and that will make me feel better about the whole. Then wake up next morning and realised, do you know what, i went and bought a new picture but to tell you the truth, i've still got a f==king great big whole in the wall and the only way i'll fix it, is to get the right tradesmen in. As the saying goes. Once bitten, twice shy. I know it wouldn't take the world to get fans back but we are still waiting for the iceing on the cake.

Leeds United have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Michael Tonge from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.anyone who thinks bates dosnt have a say in leeds why same old rubbish undisclosed thats the bates way

Believable0 Unbelievable7

It's undisclosed because Leeds and Stoke prefer it that way!

Why should LUFC disclose to anyone what they paid or not for a player

Wouldn't surprise me if we got him on a free!

Agree4 Disagree0

The majority of Transfers that are completed are undisclosed, and when they are not they are not the actual price because they are the add on price with contractual clauses or undisclosed and someone has claimed they know the actual fee ala Howson.

Why Leeds fans feel they need to know what we pay for a player is important is crazy.

Agree1 Disagree2

Who cares if it's undisclosed for Tonge. We always new he would come in for a small fee, no need to announce it. As other poster said it may even have been free and Stoke don't want it announced incase any other clubs think they can get a similar deal. The only time I want to know the fee is when we sell people. I want to know what we get and to see it going back into the playing squad

So basically we still haven't made any new signings to improve our squad. All players that have now joined permanently were already here so no improvement there then. What happened to the statement by NW that he couldn't wait for the transfer window to open. With no Thomas and the shocking display by Hall in the last game we are bereft of any pace or flair. So we are actually weaker. Actions speak louder than words and GFH are yet to make any marquee signings to have a go at promotion, more like tent signings...

I certainly hope it was Stoke who insisted on the undisclosed fee. Somehow I doubt it. Massive own goal by GFH if it was them. Same old Bates it sounds like. Is it really a big deal if you pay quarter of a million for Tonge?

Believable5 Unbelievable11

10 Jan 2013 15:57:54
Why would they want to show the world what they are spending

Agree6 Disagree3

To first replier, so I guess all those successful teams in the Premiership and the high flyers in the Championship like Cardiff and Leicester have got it wrong all these years! My bad. Keep wages secret by all means but transfer fees ought to be transparent. It's our club. We have a right to know. We had enough undisclosed fees.

Agree2 Disagree3

Have a look at all the transfers done so far in the Championship... All loan, or undisclosed fees... Sick of the moaning on here... I don't care if they cost 10 million, or 40 quid.. Its what the player is like that matters, and Tonge has been good for us this season...

Agree2 Disagree1

We have no right to know until the club files its accounts until then its tough. We are fans that is it, that doesn't give us a right to know anything clearly a LUST fan thinking we should know.

Do supermarkets share inside information, do fast food chains, and does the wider business world? I think not, get used to it football is a business we love LUFC who are a business they will do as they see fit.

Some fans make me laugh, lol its our club....!

Tonge singed up! I am happy about this as i feel we p[layed well with him in the team, he knows how to pass the ball along the floor, something we have been struggling to do of late. but i am a little disapointed so far, i no only 10 days in to january, but we need more creativity, not thomas, he was too lazy for me his heart was never in it, maybe someone like gradel, not too sure on him as he wanted to leave! for money!

if you look at other teams making signing town for one and Leicester! you get a little worried/disappointed as we should be in the market for these type of players (danns and woods)

i am praying we don't lose bechio/byram or lees, these players are key to our success which i now fear will be next season not this one!

what will warnock do? his contract is up at the end of the season! will he stay on he said not when he first came in!

All these people saying that Tonge is a waste of our time need a reality check. I guess they wern't saying this when he was scoring key goals for us. He played every game (i think ) for us when on loan. He is hungry and has a point to prove. He can play LM or CM and costs us next to nothing and won't command a big wage. Good business. Besides NW said in DEC he is working hard to secure the loan signings, no surprise thats who we are signing at the moment. Let him get that sorted then we can see his intentions

Believable14 Unbelievable2

I'll agree that he can do a job at this level, but the next one... I don't think so. In my opinion 2 and half years is too many. Should have stuck with a loan till end of season if Warnock is retiring at the end. He's never played good under any other manager.

No one and I mean no one has played with more passion for the club over the last 4 years than Luciano Becchio, why on earth would we sell him? He has never come out saying he wants to leave, even if its just to 'up' the contract he has been offered (as some agents will get their clients to do) yet fans still get on his back. He has 19 goals in all comps thus far this season, thats 14 more than any other player playing for us so his goal return is not even an option (if there was one) to moan about. We need another striker to ease the burden that is on Becchio but we certainly should not be thinking about getting rid of him. MOT SussexLeeds

Believable12 Unbelievable1

People seem to be missing the point. Nobody has said we are going to sell him and he will likely still be a Leeds player for the rest of the season.
