I am the owner of a very popular hot dog stand near the Elland road car park. About 20 seconds into the conversation i realised i was talking to Ken Bates ( who ordered a hot dog with ketchup) and he told me that danny mills was coming back to tighten up the defence. He asked if i could loan him the hot dog as he had to money in England, apparently it was all in his yacht in Monaco. So expect DM to make a return. Watch this space. Or my Hot Dog Van. MOT

Brown is a good signing, give us some steel in midfield and cover for the back four.
Nunez attacking midfielder with Howson.
Don't need or want Smith , Woodgate or Bowyer.
One went to scum, one's injury prone and the other one would never be on the pitch, and all only interested in money and not Leeds.

erm... fairly pleased after some thought.
Think brown is quality and although getting on a bit, it's a short term deal with option of renewal for a year, so a no lose situation really.
Think he will teach howson some tricks and help him get even better, hopefully they can form a great partnership.

Now Brown is in that makes 3 by what he said and yet he has to cover the keeper and back 4 to sort out GREAT

I dont know why people are saying Michael Brown is a bad signing? In my opinion he is exactly the type of player we need in midfield. Someone to protect our back 4 , someone not afraid to put his foot in and take no ***p and give us something we have cleary been lacking last season. Better signing than Bowyer and both same age. Come on you whites

Woodgate signs for Stoke on 1 year contract...Source sky sports news. KB needs to splash out the cash on a decent defender, with a strong centre half and a couple of agile full backs we have the potential to win the league purely because of our attacking quality. I think last season we were top scorers but 3rd top conceders

Michael Brown: Completely underwhelmed by this signing. People can point out his good points but this is quite simply NOT a signing that any side seriously gunning for promotion would make. A 34 year old released by Pompey. He is slower than he was, wont be box to box. After a long wait for a signing its very frustrating.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

He's experienced, pompey couldnt afford his wages so didnt play him anymore, he's a hard man which leeds lack apart from kisnorbo someone we needed good signing. no world beater but good

Agree3 Disagree1

Don't need a box to box player have 2 Nunez n howson . Needed an old head to sit in from back four and get stuck in .. That's what we got

Agree3 Disagree1

11 Jul 2011 18:21:58
Whether fans think Brown is a good signing or not isn't the point - but it does show the kind of player we are capable of getting - old free agents who just want a couple of years extra pay - so much for ambition and building for the prem , even if he does well for us Brown is just a quick fix cos no one else will come for poor wages - this just shows the quality that Bates said we were looking for - don't think we will go down next year but don't think we will go up either at this rate unless we get some top rate performances from some of our current fringe players like Nunez and Clayton

Believable4 Unbelievable1

We're not in the prem yet Don't you nay saying gonks realise we don't have the funds on Leicester, we have a decent squad with 4 or 5 quality additions we won't be far away, Grayson is in the top 3 managers in the Championship, for f**ks sake back him, there's still 6 weeks until the transfer window shuts and he's already said he will only sign players which will improve the team, so far so good, Kasper is OK but far from brill, Brown pisses all over Killa & Johnson, Paddy is back, Clayton promising, get a f**kin' grip

Agree1 Disagree1

Still think we need to bring in younger players, once are dealings in this transfer window come to an end we will then know how serious our ambitions are for promotion.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2011 18:07:58

TIME TO ORGANISE A PROTEST???
The worry every Leeds fan has endured since the end of last season regarding us NOT bringing in quality signings now seems justified. If Larry is happy with the calibre of his first two signings then it is going to be a long hard season for the fans.

It is now obvious that Mr Bates priorities lie elsewhere, lining his pockets, rather than promotion for Leeds. He is not going to spend a penny

Perhaps its time for the Leeds fans to voice their concerns now??

Believable5 Unbelievable4

U r a person pal probably armchair Leeds fan living in the past wen money got spent on players wen we coldnt afford it n ended up in administration

Agree2 Disagree3

Wrong, ive had a season ticket for over 20 years. The club is profitable and I agree Mr Bates deserves credit for that. Im not saying we have to spend the millions Risdale did, I just think for the size of club we are we should be able to compete with lesser clubs in the championship for certain players. We can afford tp pay higher wages and we can afford to pay transfer fees and for the right players we should.

Agree4 Disagree1

Brown will at least bring some steel into midfield and will help the likes of Howson, having Paddy back is like a new signing been out that long, add in Lichaj & another decent centre half & midfielder and can't see many more signings but still a decent squad if we hang onto everyone else.

unless Michael Brown is taking a huge pay cut he is gonna be a terrible signing. we need t be signing people who can make the step up to the Prem. Will he have the hunger for promotion knowing that he probably only has 2 years in his career left at max, and that if we did go up we'd probably ship him back down to The Champ?

not actually bothered about missing Bowyer and Woodgate as i think there is too much past baggage with them. would be nice to get Smith but wouldnt be overly bothered if we didnt.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

What a load of bollocks So you'd have Smith back rather than Brown? Smith is well past it, last season Brown was one of Portsmouth's players of the season before he couldn't play any more due to contractual reasons. My word, I'm glad Simon Grayson is the manager

Michael Brown, hope not, god we really are in the Brown stuff this year, quality signings, lol, freebies n loans and poor ones at that, might get stockdale but looks like we will need him, gonna be a long hard season

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Brown pros and cons:

pros: tough, combative midfielder. vast experience. free.

cons: old, so more risk of injury. gets quite a lot of bookings. no replacement in the squad if needed.

Agree1 Disagree1

I think nunez or clayton could cope with filling in if he was suspended, although we still need another centre mid.. and another centre back.. and left back.. and right back... and keeper. you wouldn't think there was 3 weeks and 5 days till southampton.

Agree0 Disagree0

"No replacement in the squad if needed". We haven't finished signing players yet so your argument holds no water at all.

Skysports.com understands Leeds United have opened talks with free agent Michael Brown.

The 34-year-old is currently without a club after seeing his contract at Portsmouth expire at the end of last season.

He is a vastly-experienced midfielder who has spent much of his career competing in the Premier League.

Spells at Manchester City, Sheffield United, Tottenham, Fulham, Wigan and Portsmouth have seen him compete at the top of the game for the last 16 years.

Sidelined

He endured a disappointing end to his time at Fratton Park, with a clause in contract forcing cash-strapped Pompey to leave him on the sidelines.

Brown is now keen to find regular football once again and could be offered the opportunity to remain in the Championship with Leeds.

The Whites have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, with Paul Rachubka the only fresh face added to their ranks.

They are, however, closing on a deal for Brown and could have an agreement in place by Monday evening.

Come on lads keep calm, how worse off from last year are we?, ok we all know we need a keeper, but if Kisnorbo comes back as he was its like signing the best centre back in the league, also Lees has a big future, White/Bessone no worse than Mc Cartney so over all defence better, Nunez is going to be special, this time next year you will all be whinging about big clubs trying to nick him, Clayton well worth a go, these 2 at least as good as Kilkenney and Johnson, 3 great wide men to choose from, with Sam now fit and 4 good options up front expect big season from Mc Cormac. So as I see it its difficult to bring in the sort of Quality needed to be an improvement.

Come on gents, wtf is going on with the squad improvements?

People picking names out of the air is really doing my nut in now, SURELY (offficial) announcements have to be made very soon.

Also really worried about the quality we might/might not bring in, long gone are the days of players queueing up to play for us.

VERY CONCERNED FAN

BOWYER TO IPSWICH
ANOTHER TARGET SLIPS THRU THE NET.
UNTRIED LOAN PLAYERS FOR ANOTHER SEASON IT IS THEN.SORRY TO BE A PESSIMIST BUT DEFINATE BOTTOM 8 FOR US THIS SEASON.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

How long have you actually supported Leeds then?

Maybe 5 or 10 MINUTES??

Suppose you also thought we'd be lucky to make the top 10 last season too??

You aren't a pessimist, mate, you are a total doom merchant

Why would we need a thug back in the team???

Agree1 Disagree0

No way will we stay up this season, Becchio injured after a few weeks then no more goals...i can see it now

Agree0 Disagree2

Im also worried about Somma

I dont see us getting relegated, but we wont acheive promotion imo

Im glad Bowyer hasnt returned and any other old sh*te player

Everyone stop panicking
Do we need many new faces.
Yeah strengthen back 4 and get number one goalie.
But look last game of the season away at QPR and beat em.
We are not far away.
Leeds forever. Nunez is quality promise.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Strengthen back 4 and number 1? new back 4 a number 1, 2 midfield and a forward is what we need

Agree2 Disagree1

Oh yeah, new foward and 2 mids.. Nunez coming through, and a team that was the second highest goalscorers in the league last season..? we definetly need a new forward.. ( I hope you can sense the sarcasm..)

Agree2 Disagree0

Kisnorbo is a new signing, that will make a massive difference, with OB will be fine, Hope Eric comes back and then I think White will be the LB this year. The so called problem place is the GK, but didn't Rubcha(Cant spell his name) get two promotions with blackpool, one being from this league we are in.... think that actually a good keeper {Ed001's Note - he was first choice keeper under Grayson, but Gilks took over under Holloway and was in the net when they got promoted to the Prem. But he is very well liked by the Blackpool fans I have spoken to, they think he was just unlucky to have Gilks to compete with.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hahaha Rechubka as your No.1 (an improvement on Kasper remember).

Correct me if im wrong lads. But Rechubka was Blackpools 3rd choice keeper and last year he played in 3 matches (all of them defeats) and conceeded 9 goals. Hahahahahaha

What does SG mean when he says 'long way down the line'? Is that in talks with agents? Medical? Talks over contract? What does he mean? Also, would anyone look at any of the players playing in the U17 World Cup? Some awesome players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would assume he means with their agents
