Just been looking at Sheff Wednesday news now and hardly anything on there about David Norris as they look to be signing three other midfielders in Portugal! So I guess it looks more likely Norris will sign for us! Great professional.

at last a decent keeper back four taking shape midfield
ongoing could do with a proven striker alongside
bechio it is like watching paint dry but neil is getting
there
all we need is the takeover to give neil a transfer fund
to finish the squad
good times on the way ? i hope

Peltier, Norris & Varney to follow Kenny with the team shaping out to be like this:
Kenny
Peltier Lees Pearce Drury
Snodgrass Norris Green Varney
McCormack Becchio
Still reckon we need another defender like a sweeper who can play anywhere, another striker maybe Cox? And another quick winger to complete our squad.
ConnorMOT!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I disagree...we need a lot more than just a few players. We need 2 more strikers, 2 centre mids, a left winger, an RB, a CB and a utility def plus another GK to challenge if Lons leaves. If Snods leaves then add yet another winget to that list. I make that 9-10 needed desperately!

11 Jul 2012 18:14:12
Warnock said he's playing the same tactics, reckon he'll also play 4-2-3-1 again.

GK:Kenny
RB:Peltier
CB:Lees
CB:Pearce
LB:Drury
CDM:Green
CDM:Norris
RAM:Snodgrass
CAM:McGugan/McCormack
LAM:Varney
ST:Becchio

unless he plays norris CAM and buys a CDM

What do you think?! Replys:)

Something puzzling me about this takeover... If its who it's claimed to be then why so long for due diligence.

Now I'm not saying just because he's got 3.8 billon he should throw his money away to papa but if its his lifelong Leeds dream to own them wouldn't you just give the smurf seventy million, clear all the mystery debts off and kick the old git out.

Btw, I think Kenny's a good signing as are he other additions. We'll always score goals but looking at last season you'd say we'd also concede more. Tough league and a case of winning the ball in midfield and not conceding being the key to getting out of it. Takeover or not I still think we'll be top two or I'll eat my other cat.

Hopefully we'll get THE news we've been suffering over in the next couple of days.

Stockport white

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Even at that, due diligence is still an important part of any business transaction of this stature. I'm sure the buyer, if it is the Baharians as rumoured are still at the head of a consortium and have an extensive legal team handling everything for them. Hopefully we get some news soon though.

MOT

Crmd

Agree1 Disagree1

Complicated deal I expect - any astute businessman/woman would want to know who owned the ground (as in who really owned it, not the stock response of The Teak Trading Corporation registered in the BVI). There is the potential to be stitched up with exorbitant rents after the current lease expires so if it were my money I'd want to tie a deal for the club to a deal to buy the ground & training complex or extend the lease from 25 to 999 years. No one got rich by failing to be diligent and letting their heart rule their head.

Agree1 Disagree0

Need to wait till the 12th, then we owe the creditors nothing

Agree0 Disagree1

The stumbling block/slow progress is almost certainly down to the ownership of ER & TA. I suspect both grounds will or have been sold to the investors but once again with confidentiality agreements over previous ownership ensuring nobody actually finds out who previously owned them.
Either way let's hope it's sorted soon.
jt-lufc

Agree0 Disagree1

I suppose that not paying 70m without undertaking due diligence is part of how he achieved 3.8 billion in the first place

Agree2 Disagree0

He is a member of a family with combined wealth of 3.8 billion, but has no strong position in the family. i'm sure everyone here has that cousin who is always wanting to borrow a fiver. bet that's him.

do you think kenny could only be signed at the sale of clayton?? if so nothings changed!!

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Actually, if nothing had changed Papa Smurf would be buying more bricks and mortar - durrr....!!

Agree0 Disagree1

Until the takeover is complete, that's exactly what's happening. That's why we sold Clayton cheap. NW didn't want risk Kenny losing patience and going elsewhere.
The money for Varney &/or Norris will come from the sale of Lonerghan.
When/if the takeover is announced it will be very interesting to see the calibre of player associated with us then.

Agree0 Disagree1

I dont mind, least he wants to play for Leeds

Agree2 Disagree0

He can't buy any more bricks & mortar - he's mortgaged the season ticket sales for two years, our only remaining asset...

paddy is an amazing keeper remeber his peformance against man city in the lst match, he let the 2 past him at the end because qpr were stayed up and didnt want utd to win the leugue!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

But did you see his performance against Chelsea, if youre gonna use his better performances youve gotta look at his mares aswell

Agree0 Disagree1

His mare sits nicely between Blackpool 5 (Rachubka) & Forest 7 (Lonergan), but with far greater opposition! Otherwise he broke the QPR record for the most clean sheets JH

Agree1 Disagree0

Lonergan was more of a poor defence which led to goals he couldnt do anything about, most of them were rockets, Rachubka only techinically conceeded 3, but all his doing

I can't understand for the life of me why we're signing all these mediocre players with the exception of Pearce great signing if we're gonna be taken over we would be able to attract a lot better signings. I know they're are limitations around how much Championship clubs can spend but we all know they're will be ways around it so why don't we reach for the stars

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Well if we get taken over these players we are signing at the moment are better than the ones on the transfer list .

Agree2 Disagree0

Because these players are workhorses. Suits Warnock style of play and what you need to get up. Did Southampton have silky skilled midfield players you were purring at the beginning of last season? You just need a solid back four, a midfield which can keep a grip on the game, wingers who take on and beat their full-backs all day long and strikers who know where goal is. Warnock is old school 80s style use the wings type of manager. A better man's Howard Wilkinson in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree1

Looking at the YEP's breakdown of the contract status of the firat team squad, we probably need a dozen new players when departures and uncertainties are taken into consideration. If we could keep White and Snodgrass, superb, however Neil needs to act fast in new faces or spend early season developing the side and dropping points. I hope are youngsters are ready to step up in the interim.

Agree1 Disagree1

Give it a rest the signings haven't even played a game yet give the lads a chance

Agree1 Disagree0

Trust in Warnock. Some of the freebies are good players who have let their contracts expire. They would command decent fees if they had 2-3 years left on their contracts.

Agree1 Disagree0

And wich championship team do you manage? warnock is a very good manager and i for 1 trust his judgement. and paddy was his main target so for me he must be the man for the job MOT

Agree1 Disagree1

Wilkinson won the title - Warnock never did and never will. How does that make him 'better'?

Agree0 Disagree1

Gotta love people who put the team down before a balls even been kicked, loyal support there, Drury, Green, etc are good players at this level which is what we need, but then again i forgot you are expecting Messi

ED, if you were to look for one specific type of striker what would it be? a strong hefty striker, like say, yakubu, or someone like, theo robinson who we have previously being linked with - Joe {Ed045's Note - I think we need a pacey finisher to link up with Becchio, someone that knows where the goal is and is quick footed and minded enough to run in behind.

New pictures of the first training session of the year include none other than much speculated about Ross McCormack, so as of yet it seems he has not managed to find a move away from Elland Road and that he could well be biding his time, waiting for a new and improved contract should the takeover be complete.

I'm getting depressed now.

The last time Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa tried to buy us in 2004 he had problems raising the money, his partners at that time were reported to have been 2 Saudi Businessmen and an Asian based company. He then tried to raise the funds in London to with no success.

So basically, he is not a well known member of the family, he has not managed to get himself a position in government unlike most of his relations and he can't even persuade his own family to invest in his scheme (track record?).

Those people dreaming of Man City type riches probably need to wake up now and breathe in a whiff of realism, it looks like NW's current purchases are probably all we can afford.

I have this picture flying round my head of a Bates type figure in Arab dress on a threadbare Camel (borrowed) .... Please tell me I am wrong.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

I think whoever takes over from KB has a fair amount of money so can give NW more money to spend on transfers (although £2.50 would be more than KB spent) but I think your right, whoever takes us over isn't going to be mega rich, i.e. multi millionaire not multi billionaire.

Published on Wednesday 11 July 2012 10:31Reports in the Middle East have put a name to the mystery man they believe to be in pole position to buy Leeds United.Gulf Weekly reports that the group of Middle East investors, with links across the region, is headed by Bahrain’s Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

The report, from the Bahrain-based newspaper, goes on to say that the Shaikh is a lifelong supporter of Leeds and was previously linked with a failed takeover of the club in 2003.

According to the newspaper, friends of Shaikh Abdulrahman say he is currently visiting Europe and is not available to comment.

In 2003 he told reporters: “I fell in love with the club when I was 11-years-old when Leeds played Chelsea in the 1970 FA Cup Final.

“Leeds mean everything to me, I was born to support them. Those who are closest to me, my friends and my family, know what Leeds United mean to me.”

Could it be that we are not being taken over. The choice was between forest and us. The decision was made weeks ago and it suited the club to keep the rumour alive for various reasons.
1 to keep NW at the club
2 to make the club more attractive for cheap players and loaners to come to the club.
3 to keep the fans reasonably happy for a while, keeping them off Bates the B4ST4RDS back
4 Sell more season tickets.

I pray that I am wrong...but I have a terrible feeling about this.

All these players we are getting linked with are only average
we are gonna need to quality to get out of the championship this year
its will be the hardest ever season(including minus 15 in league 1)
blackburn blackpool cardiff bolton birmingham wolves all with decent teams then leicester middleborough burnley will fancy there chances and not to mention new investment at watford n notts forest then some dark horses like sheff wed (dave jones doing well) n brighton (poyet bringing in some decentish signings) ipswich (jewell is due a good season) hull (bruce n heskey) palace (been spending)
We will have to have a good side and play well against all the above sides then we need results against so called lesser teams millwall barnsley charlton derby peterborough

all in all gonna be a cracking season but we are gonna need some real quality which costs money (10-20 million) to get promotion

MOT
Marc7

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I agree will be a tricky season to call this year. At least half the table have a squad, or the money to improve their squad to challenge for the promotion and playoff places and the other half of the table is pretty strong too with no easy games in it. Also for once all the promoted teams from league one have a realistic chance of pushing for the playoffs and not looking like featuring in the relegation dogfight. Going to be a great but nerve wracking season with loads of twists and turns hopefully with us in the mix on the final day

Agree2 Disagree0

10 to 20 million, how much did NW spend getting QPR promoted?,nothing remotely like them figures, the league looks stronger now though,so we will need all his skills to be among the forerunners, just hope he has a few class signings up his sleeve.
