Well unless we are signing one of the finalists the excuse of the difficulties surrounding signings during the world cup is no longer viable. WTF is going on. Apparently money is there to be spent. Yet again Leeds seem to have found a billionaire that won't spend

Anyone else underwhelmed by the thought of Blackman coming in? . thought BPF did enough last season to be given the chance to start as number 1 this season, I would imagine Chelsea will want assurances he’s number one and BPF will be back up,

Agree2 Disagree2

12 Jul 2018 22:05:42
Is the money really there tho wex? We only know what they spin us. If it's such a slow difficult market how come forest, bora, Norwich and West Brom are all making significant headway in the market. I'll give Bubba till Xmas before he jumps ship and we end up heckingbottom 2.0

12 Jul 2018 22:01:06
Plenty of players out there we want, but the reality is, if you want proven championship players then you have to pay the wages, I believe that’s the biggest stumbling block for us at the moment, not sure who are top earner is but whoever it is won’t be anywhere near the 30k a wk vydra wants or 40j a week Hernandez wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2018 22:53:16
Apparently we have done away with the wage cap. And where is the investment money from the 49ers. I've said it before the end of last season if massimo was carrying on like this lot the planes would be flying banners long ago. Radz out

Agree2 Disagree2

13 Jul 2018 01:41:38
Said at the time radz had panicked and thrown stupid money at a manager. He might turn out to be great. But radz decisions of late seem spur of moment. Not a lot of thought behind them. We can only hope that the current non activity is down to seeing who is good enough and how many we can get rid of. I’m quite happy not to get Vydra or fern cause they are money grabbers but the team def needs 3-4 very good players. And they will cost good money. Don’t think any of the current management and owners etc know what a good player is and are willing to pay good money. I think when the new players come in. We will be underwhelmed.

Your right wex couldn't agree more. More fool us lot for falling for it time and time again

Think Bielsa was def the right guy to get. Wages irrelevant if he does the job. Thing is they then need to back him with quality signings and that's not happened yet. I think we have quite a few quality players here that he will get the best out of and some very good youngsters who he will help progress. Think we would more than hold our own with what we have got but if promotion is the target need 3,at least, quality signings to come in this window to join Baker. Not sure that's going to happen. Not sure how he is going to set the defence up but that's a concern for me at the minute and if Roberts turns out to be a dud we will be relying on kids upfront all season.

13 Jul 2018 13:15:21
You think new manager can make current squad hold their own? Please explain how relegation candidates begin to hold their own.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2018 13:30:42
I can see the signings all being loans with the money we have spent on wages. we seem to be trying to loan quality youngsters and hoping Bielsa can coach them to success. we will be like England mark 2 depending on youth, teamwork and a good plan to take us forward.

13 Jul 2018 14:24:59
And not facing a good team all competition Alf? Errrrrrr. Not going to work mate.

Teamwork and a good plan worked for Wolves and Cardiff last season, two real TEAMS, two completely different plans. Let's just go for it and see what happens after the first 12 or so games

Just recovering after lasts nights disappointment, now have a feeling of pride once again in being an England fan. Southgate, the squad, the coaches and the back room staff have put a smile back on the nations faces. Suppose what I'm trying to say is thank you Southgate et al, we're all very proud of what you've achieved and you should all be very proud of yourselves. Similarities between Leeds and England in the fact that there are no big stars. So take note Leeds United, show some pride in your play, the fans will get behind you and then nothing is impossible.

12 Jul 2018 19:32:28
You have to have some pride in any team that gets to a major Semi but there are plenty of ex England teams who would have sailed to the Final given the draw we got. We played 2 quality teams and lost both. We are a workmanlike team built on set plays. We miss a creative midfield player to unlock defences. I have to agree with Southgate, "this team has not shown its true potential". Too many big names looked very ordinary. In the Croatia game they looked threatening on every attack we never really looked dangerous anywhere near their box. In fact, in the rest of the pitch, build up was slow and laborious with too many sideways passes. No one with the ability and vision to create anything dangerous from the back. Just a series of side/ back passes then a long punt or a loss of possession. I do not want to sound too critical but unless we start beating some meaningful opposition in meaningful games then I cannot really say, It's Coming Home. Hopefully a world beater will emerge from one of the tournament winning teams.

12 Jul 2018 20:51:27
Have to agree Leodis, Henderson is a long way from being an international, a decent, creative midfielder and that team could grow into something special by the time the next tournament comes around. Nevertheless I feel we did better than what was expected, damn, I might be getting back to expecting England to win everything again :)

We need 3/4 world class players to truly compete and we only have 1 - Harry Kane. The hope is that some of the youngsters will develop into world class players in the next 2-4 years plus some of the more promising youngsters from the U20s and U17s to fill out the numbers. simply not good enough this time but this tournament was never about us winning but gaining experience and building for the future. sounds like Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2018 15:38:40
I think that the back 3 could be world class, probably not individually but as a unit.

Read a post on twitter regarding our current transfer activity that made my think a bit. With a number of clubs under financial constraints with FFP, they have to sell before they can bring in players. Does that put Leeds in a strong position to pick players up for a reasonable price the closer they get to the window closing. Personally I think it is clutching at straws and we seem more bothered about the bottom line rather than having a competing squad, but it does provide food for thought ?

Apart from Forest, who will be in FTP doodoo AGAIN next season, the only other clubs with anything to spend seem to be the relegated ones and, to a much lesser extent, us. Sounds you could be onto something Notts :)

12 Jul 2018 15:00:48
That is the point I have been making, the early bird does not always catch the best worm so to speak. There will be players from Championship clubs and the lower Premier league clubs becoming available to buy and also further down the line to loan that I think will serve our needs. And if other clubs have already spunked their budgets all the better. MOT

12 Jul 2018 16:13:22
Good posts but we must nevertheless try harder to land the Uruguayan goal machine, Wilson and our back line needs reinforcing because be it a 3 or a 4 we look weak there. I've also come to conclusion FFP only affects West Yorkshire clubs whose name begins with L. When has anyone been truly punished for blatant infringements? Moment we do it though the rule book will come out.

A few clubs have been fined, Bournemouth for one, and QPR still owe the FL around £40M but apart from them . nowt

I have no idea George, I keep googling QPR FTP fine but the latest thing I saw, and it was a few months back, their appeal to some court had failed but they were trying a different one. Why they still have their "golden ticket" is beyond me.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2018 13:35:52
Bournemouth were fined about £4.5 million - hardly a punishment if the risk brings the £120million premier TV deals is it? If someone siad they would give me £120 in return for a fiver i'd take it.

13 Jul 2018 15:44:58
Fines for football clubs are usually like that, absolutely ridiculous. Should be point deductions, but that would have to be whenever the club gets relegated.

Maybe Bielsa is still deliberating who is good enough to stay. When he is sure he will then demand 2-3 players in certain positions at any cost. We will miss a few but get what we need where we need it? Is that too optimistic for me?

Why are the Jerry rumours springing up again? We're like a bad comedy meets a trainwreck. Bit like Brexit. Don't want Hugill or Addonbaloney. For out and out striker we should be looking at one of these 3 in order of George preference. 1. Abel 2. Gayle 3. Kodija.

Unfortunately I think we will sign him. Orta has put time and effort into this deal and therefore will not want to lose face. I just think the lack of effort trying to secure a striker will lead to us bringing in a player that Orta wanted in the first place.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2018 15:04:25
Best thing Bielsa can do when Orta brings in Jerry deliberately don't play him, Orta as got too much power and it proves it if he does sign that Jerry who's no better than the likes of Eckuban, Sacko, Doukara, season tickets sales dried up over two weeks ago regardless what Kinnear says.

Orta is doing his best to shaft us after all the crap signings he hasn't learned a thing promised stellar signings and looks like well end up with a typical Orta dud how thw hell can you go from Vydra, Hernandez, to Mbakogu, IMO if he does come it shows just how much influence he has at Leeds, because I can't for the life of me see what Bielsa could see in him, could Radz and Orta force Bielsa to walk? time will tell definite NO TO MBAKOGU,

With only 5 days to go to Forest Green and no new faces may I suggest a 3-3-3-1 line up. bpf-- ayling, shaugnessy, pearce--ideguchi, baker, forshaw -- alioski, saiz, pablo -- roberts Second Half subs from Hosanna, struijk, halme, diaz -- Klich, stevens, dallas -- and upfront edmundson, dalby

Another week nearly done, another day goes by and only real news for us fans is players leaving or being linked to other clubs. When is this regime going to give us long suffering fans some proper good news. Now i know Radz has links to Mayanmar but running our club like some kind of dictatorship isn't a smart move. We are not mushrooms that can be kept in the dark and fed on s**t! Lots of bull and promises peddled buy the club to help sell season tickets, only at this club that we put up with it.

Have faith and a bit of patience? Do you think that Leeds would have got a manager in on such a wage if they were not wanting to progress? We know that there is a desire to trim the squad, and there is plenty of time until the season begins, so in my opinion we are far from panic stations just yet. Take West Ham for instance, now they have brought Yarmalenko they may be happy to offload a striker (Jordan Hugill maybe) and now the WC is nearly over other clubs will be doing the same and players will become available. We DO NOT need to be held to ransom by Vydra and we do not need to panic buy. Keep the faith - at least we are not signing the standard of player we did last season. MOT

12 Jul 2018 09:35:00
It really does beggar belief that we haven't spent a penny on new players so far in to this transfer window after all the spin and promises we were fed so they could whip up interest and hope amongst the fans to flog season tickets.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2018 10:18:57
I tend to agree with you Shutty and think that Leeds may well be playing the patience game. Waiting to see who has to be unloaded, who is desperate to reduce wage bill and who is willing to drop their demands. Wether that is the right strategy I am not too sure but what I do know is that we should not be held to ransom by any player. At some point we have to dig our heels in and say enough is enough.

12 Jul 2018 11:49:19
We also do not know what Bielsa is doing behind the scenes, it has been very quiet from him since his arrival. I also do not think he would have taken the job without the right player assurances. I am as frustrated as the rest here but believe things will start to move soon.
