Football League working their SOCKS OFF, still need 10 more days.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - what do you want them to do ? }

Buy them some more socks then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hurry the flight up that's what. Shoulda been done ages ago, vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are still trawling through the boatload of e-mails sent in from fiasco friday! it's all our fault . as usual.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - I'm covering for Ed 013 so obviously I'm not a Leeds fan but I can ensure you I'm passionate about all football the way I see it as it stands you are not going up or down this season (i get the fears of admin) but just let the fl do their job.ive just put my tin hat on :) . }

14 Mar 2014 09:34:30
Is MC losing intrest. Not turning up to court next week. Is he thinking €1m fine cheaper than the black hole that is our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

The FL could make a decision as anything less than a jail sentence should not affect his position. They are within their remit to wait and see if he goes to jail but its highly unlikely unless he shoots the judge.
I think the FL should ask our inland revenue to look into the tax paid by existing owners and directors in the leagues, I would hate to think any of them had offshore tax havens and putting shares in their dogs name to avoid tax or meet criteria and the FL have turned a blind eye to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

No peobs ed3 was just being sarcastic!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2014 16:05:00
Ed 003, With you not being Leeds fan, you wouldn't have got the point of "working their socks off", a saying used a lot in connection to Shaun Harvey Whilst at Leeds, and now at FL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Ahh right cheers AGM.}

13 Mar 2014 22:35:19
Jesus some folk just love to whinge. We are LEEDS and that's it! Stick together lads and believe when Cellino takes over promotion is 1-2 years away! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - I know mate.}

I think the statement is actually a positive. It means that the FL have not found anything yet that means they can disapprove of take over. After 5 weeks they haven't found anything to stop take over.
Just the outcome of the Court case and the remaining information to be considered now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but are they saying if he is guilty he goes, disaster. Does it depend on the circumstances ie Massimo is guilty of being ignorant of tax laws and has to pay the tax, he stays or he is guilty of knowingly evading tax he goes. The FL board and managers, players and owners all evade paying tax with offshore accounts and my wife own this and my son owns that. Smacks of just Mr Harvey playing hardball with LUFC needs to get that chip off his shoulder.

We need a Bremner, Batty or evena Vinnie Jones. There is no real leaders and that is the real problem.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

WE NEED 11 BREMNERS!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 bremners? So an outfielder in goal and a defensive brawler upfront to score 2 x 20 goals?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2014 10:57:57
to the last poster. don't be so personic

The guy was simply saying we need 11 players who are wanting to fight for the team and show some passion

grow up

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think that a Bremner in goal and up front, on the wing, wherever, would improve the team. He may not have had the skills to be a centre forward/keeper but he'd have never let that stop his will to win and a 100% improvement on the workshy B***ards that have turned out the last two games!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 22:04:32
Ok I can sort one thing now forget the FL taking 10 days. The best leeds performance AND result this season was the one game where BMD was sacked, stayed at home and had nothing to do with the team. For cheese butties sake sack the mother again and make sure it's permanent this time. It's not hard to see he's not cut out for this and Leeds are better off without him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Mar 2014 21:59:30
So when Merideth Kercher has been found guilty and not guilty back and forward over 8 years and has still not been concluded what makes anyone think that Cellinio's tax trial will only take one day. This is the Italian justice system we are talking about. The biggest mish mash of confusion in all creation. It's obvious that the FL are waiting for that decision and this ten day wait is a fudge to get to that date. What if it gets adjourned for a month. Anything other than Cellinio being cleared will be a deal breaker and we will be in a serious mess. Cross fingers, say prayers, don't walk under ladders etc etc for the next ten days as I fear we need all the luck we can get.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Meredith K (rip) was not on trial it was foxy knoxy. Don't judge from that. There's a difference in complexity anywhere in the world between a sex triangle murder game gone wrong and tax payments allegedly due on a yacht. Cellino trial won't take more than 3 days.

Ten days til the football league shaft us lads. I've just been discussing the take over with my old dear and she brought up the very valid point that I have been dissapointed every time for the last ten years (that game against Brighton excluded) so why will this be any different. Hey if we do get relegated last time we were in league one we were beasty.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolute joke, and not remotely funny. Bunch of clowns led by super clown.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 21:01:35
fl states decision on celino's bid, will be made in next ten day's

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The current board or the potential purchaser should put the league position squarely on the table by issuing a statement clearly listing what it is that these learned gentlemen still need to make a decision. At least then we can know to what extent they messing us around. :)

Takeover due in the next 10 days! I see the football league havs taken the p**s out of Leeds united once again, how a tax bill for mr Cellino makes any difference is beyond me! A slap on the wrist and a fine which will be payed end off . Now let him takeover our club MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Apparently they have already managed to string this out for 40 days.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 20:03:59
10 more days!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would any other club, apart from Leeds United have to go through such intense scrutiny?.I very much doubt it, seems to me it should be the FL having to go through the fit and proper test.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are just waiting till the emergency loan window ends I think

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 20:00:50
Leeds have to wait 10days for the final decision on the takeover ughh,, on newevery5mins

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Delay, delay after delay. Now the league have had to play their final card. We will decide in the next 10 days they say, as s harvey and his gin swigging pal's go into hiding just hoping and praying and hoping and praying mr cellino gets found guilty

13 Mar 2014 19:54:55
so if we were to have yet another new manager who would be the top choices? I was never a fan of warnock and have been disappointed by mcdermott but I think we need some one with experience and a proven record of building a team from scratch not inheriting one and not being able to take it forward, and some one who is in it for the long hall. to be honest I cannot think of anyone who fits the bill who would be available malky mackay, steve clarke, rene mulenstien, don't inspire me, so I ask the question any one any ideas?

If fl are going to wait until the outcome of Cellino's tax evasion case nxt wk, that must mean he's passed the FPP already, surely?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's a very good point.

Agree0 Disagree0

FL statement just released. typical fudge. waiting on hearing in italy nxt week but ain't got the prawn sandwich to say so. obviously someone close to our hearts (not) is working his socks off

Agree0 Disagree0

Just been looking at FL site Owners & Directors Test appendix 3 clause (h).
This seems to say that to disqualify someone for an unspent conviction the sentence has to be for imprisonment of more than 12 months.
Can anyone confirm that?
First of all thought that can't be right as if convicted of a crime then that must be the end of. However, I suppose they have to put this in or a crime like speeding would lead to disqualification as Director/Owner.
Not sure it is right though that someone convicted of a financial crime should be passed just because only fined!
If I have read right Massimo Cellino could be found guilty but as Inland Revenue only want a fine it won't disqualify him and stop take over. Wouldn't have thought judge would impose harsher sentence than Inland Revenue ask for? Any ideas?

13 Mar 2014 17:28:30
Hope everyone saw thru Haigh smokescreen rhetoric of not going into admin reminiscent of Ridsdale's "we are still enjoying those decisions" mantra right before we went into admin. Losing over 600k a month, Cellino TO in balance not wishing to inject further funds until resolved (rightly so). You do the math. Admin won't be this year probably next unless another group step in. We are such a silly club. We could've been one of the best had we made better choices.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Won't the income situation improve over the summer when we stop paying for East Stand improvements? All gate receipts and season ticket sales will come to Club rather than repaying the debt for the improvement work.
Other clubs seem to be in same or worse situation and are still going. Once full income is available our position should improve unless GFH have done Ken Bates and taken out money we don't have.

I just got a letter from what seems like a very nice Nigerian lawyer, offering me US $50 million which apparently is the legacy of a distant deceased relative. A few simple steps and the money will be mine. If Cellino fails the F&PP test, then I will come to the rescue with my new found wealth. It seems all my distant relatives are dying in Nigeria because I got a similar letter from a different Nigerian lawyer an hour ago. At this rate, I may buy Barcelona to use as our feeder club.
Octopus Eats Crocodile

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too late! I received the same offer. Unselfishly, and well aware that we need more cash coming into the club, I have arranged for Cellino's bank account deatils to be available to the Nigerian to pay the $50 million staright into his bank account. Happy Days!

Oh my holy gosh just a hint of fight in today's press conference from Ross and BMcD, taken with a pinch of salt boys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's all that about? Too cryptic for me.

So. Ok. We have say 20 players on pitch or on bench rotating
Can I be bold enough to say, the best 8 of them plus 3 more are good enough for promotion.
I think managers should not be allowed to buy previous players they have worked with unless low wage big bonuses and
Mcd unfortunately for some reason has lost the players and is tactically rubbish
I reckon a good man manager and tactician could get these players into playoffs and 3 more would get us up!
Stop stuffing around and get rid. Why waste time. Spineless Gfh should sack him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree we need a different manager, someone who can give the players a good shake up. However, I'm sorry to say that a play-off place is too far a stretch now. We'd need everyone else's results to go our way, and we'd need to win every game until the end of the season. Yes I'm aware it's mathemtically possible, but seriously unlikely. We'll just have to be content that we're in this league for another season, and not in League 1.
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrot and swede talk as usual Ausman. Our squad is at the very best 6-8 but let's be honest 8-12. Pearce, Byram, Murphy and McCormack are the only players who come close to Leicester 1st team. They licking the sherbet dib dab league because of previous spend and their board showing some patience. i'd still rather BMD than some Italian manager no one has heard of to play so called continental football! Everybody get real and think ahead, hopefully to good times under Cellino. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2014 12:43:48
I don't get this takeover, I read that Cellino's convictions were spent and and pending case can't affect the FL decision. So why would the court case on the 18th matter? Have the FL said they would wait as I don't think they have. And if they did then surely it goes against FL rules, do you know anymore than me Ed? Vinny.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - because he is involved in a court case, that does affect it. If he was accused after the deal had gone through, it would have no bearing, but it was a prior case, so it does matter.}

THE 13TH TODAY UNLUCKY FOR SOME! Hope not for us, 17TH is for cellino believes after over a month of waiting today the decision of the Football Association, concerning the purchase of Leeds United, will be known.
Once the situation of Leeds is confirmed one way or another. Cellino will have to give an answer on the future of Cagliari. For the club to moved towards the Arab investors and American investors. Problems, problems, wish we had has many clean sheets has Problems. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 I an afraid you are just plain wrong about court case. At the time the owners & directors test was completed by the Club and sent to the FL this case was at best pending (not sure didn't come to light after test completed). There is still the embezzlement case pending.
What does pending mean if it isn't cases that haven't been heard yet!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and your point is? I still don't see how I am wrong, when I was saying that a pending case does affect it. Perhaps you should wind your neck in and learn to read. The pending case came to light because it was thrown up as a red flag by the fit and proper test. Not sure what on earth you are wittering on about. I don't care what you may think you have read, the Football League's regulations quite clearly state that: (c) he shall not become a Club Director until the Club has received confirmation from The League pursuant to Rule 3.3(b) above that he is not liable to be disqualified as a Club Director under the provisions of Rule 2.1.
That simple little phrase, 'not liable to be disqualified' quite clearly refers to pending cases. In other words, they will not allow a person to become a director while he is liable, however likely or otherwise, to become disqualified as a Club Director. I really don't know what you have read, but you clearly have not read the fine print, or misinterpreted it.}

Ed, does your disagreement re pending cases not show that different parts of the rules say different things? The rules do say that pending cases do not need to be taken into account when doing Directors & Owners test which replaced fit & proper test.So what is that referring to as else where it says what you have quoted. Has Cellino said he is going to be Director? Haven't seen that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the appendix regarding the Directors and Owners test is the only bit that is relevant. That is what I have quoted. The appendices are bits they have added on to cope with issues that they hadn't allowed for in the initial regulations. It is only cases that would disqualify an incoming owner from being a director that matter too, it should be noted. So the case must be of a severity that would rule out the owner from taking charge, not just, for instance, an outstanding parking ticket waiting to go to court.}

At the end of the day pending cases shouldn't be taken into account according to the FL, red flag or not. Vinny.

David Haigh in the news saying there is 'no chance' of Leeds Utd going bankrupt
""As a director of a company, there is a test of solvency that you have to go through. Can the company meet its debts, as and when they fall? And yes, Leeds United can.""

However, we know that Leeds borrowed money from Andy Flowers, David Haigh himself and then Cellino in order to pay running costs and wages.

This does not seem to me like a club that can meets it's debts as and when they fall.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Clun needs to be kept going until the payments for the debt incurred by Ken Bates re the East Stand work are cleared. That happens this summer. Then all gate income and season ticket income will be available to run the Club!

Although I do hope Massimo gets the nod. If it falls through I think us as fans should band together to buy the club. Like Barca, because let's face it no ones got Leeds' best interests like us lot have. Ed- would this be a possibility if all goes Pete tonge with cellino

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is a possibility, but highly unlikely to ever happen due to the difficulties it would present. When Liverpool was in difficulty a number of share groups explored the option, only one even got as far as launching an initiative. Even that got nowhere. Raising the cash initially is a very difficult thing to do, it would require a long term approach. Really you would need to start buying up shares gradually, through a members group, with the long term aim of getting a controlling interest in the future.}

Ive always thought this would be a good idea. 1 million fans giving £25 each equals 25 million. ed do you know how barca became owned by fans and how does it work? do you pay money every year or is it a one off share purchase?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I believe they were always a club, with fan membership being the owners, the way it started in English football too. Members pay a fee each year to be a member and that makes them a part owner. It is a club in a very real sense of the word.}

If I win the euro lotto I will buy the club. I once went through a red light so I might not pass the test. I would then leave the club to the people of leeds. fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

That made me laugh, going through a red light lol

Can anybody shed light on today, what is going to happen, are the fl going to make a decision today pending the outcome of the court case on the 18th or will they bottle it and pray that the case goes against massimo, my betting is they will wait and if he loses then the FL will make a statement saying that he had passed their tests but as he was found guilty then they can't sanction the take over, then they will not be seen as the bad boys let's hope they have some balls and pass him fit today and announce it today enough is enough pass him and let us move on

The only reason the BMD still has a job is due to the fact that we do not know what sort of manager we need, 2 senarios
1 Cellino gets OK to takeover and we need a quality manager to take control
2 we have no money and need a different manager
Either way no sense in sacking BMD until we know

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good point keep mcd, what is the point in sacking him, what would we actually achieve, we are back square one again as we were with warlock. We've lost a few bad games and everybody says out I say keep him no body complained when we were winning and we don't know half the story at leeds anyway. Mot with mcd

fellow fans.

this sernario got me thinking the other day.

Me wife and two kids went to Bolton game at a cost of over £100, to watch that!

Anyway, My wife is a big liverpool fan but she still likes to see Leeds do well. On our way home from the game my 7 year old son say. I don't want to go to ER anymore, they don't look like they even want to be footballers, then he pipes up can I get a season ticket for Anfield next season, at which point my draw droped.

So I concern is, with the club doing so badly, are we loosing the next generation of fans?

How can anyone defend BD now. None of the players are performing and that is down to him. Byram, Lees, Mowatt and Poleon have not improved as players since he started to manage us. In fact Byram and Lees have gone backwards, these were potential international players with big price tags a year ago. He took Reading up with a team given him then it came back down with the players he brought in. He cannot motivate a team and what the takeover has to do with him is beyond me. His job is to pick and motivate a team that will go out and play for the pride of Leeds United. Not make excuses for the under performance of the players, his players, his tactics his fault. The players are crap but then no stars shone out in the Rochdale team or Shef Weds. team but they beat us because the put in the effort and had pride in their shirts, sadly a lot of our team don't. We can't defend because our midfield are crap give no cover. We can't score goals because our midfield is crap can't give a decent ball in. A good team has a solid midfield we have no midfield. Luckily we will not go down, unless Cellino has to walk away. BD needs to go and we should get rid of at least 15 no hopers, doubt if anyone will want them though. I would rather play with the youth team out there who want to play for Leeds and are better players than what I have to watch every Saturday. Marching on together.
