Given Greg Clarke rhetoric, looks like another LUFC chant may be in the making. Not WACCOE but WACCOC. We are Champions, Champions of the Championship πŸ’›πŸ’™.

Meanwhile while football and other outdoor sporting events ( yet not the Cheltenham horse Gold Cup Festival or rugby league fixtures ) are postponed ; the hypocracy continues by the UK authorities on not banning far more likely contagious activities of travelling by tube, underground, crammed with thousands or plane travel in enclosed tiny spaces with hundreds of others. and of course all the pubs will be crammed now with footie fans on the weekends with nothing to do .

Compared to many other illnesses this Corona virus accounts for far less mortality that receive no attention or media hype / panic .

The whole Coruna virus matter is overhyped needless panicking bull

Agree5 Disagree0

14 Mar 2020 09:24:04
Mainstream media reporting covid19 more contagious and higher mortality rate than those others but not as many people have it yet. I agree in principle with that vid but the knock on effect to the economy would be disastrous if everything just shuts down.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2020 10:01:26
Absolutely Alf, the economic toll could be huge. Jobs will be lost by the 1000s, businesses will fail on a daily basis, so aside from the worrying health elements, the economic fallout will take a long time to recover from. Why public transport is still in use is beyond me.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2020 11:45:16
Without transport people wouldn't be able to get to work though and that includes the supply chain to get food to the masses. Without PT some would not be able to earn money to feed their families. It's a huge mess. Better to keep it running, advise people to avoid it and work from home if we can and muddle through but our government haven't done that for some reason. Maybe they want us to all get it and get it over with?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2020 23:46:39
Alf - you may not be very far from the truth with your final comment, if as suggested the Govt's Chief Scientific Officer thinks it would be good for 60% of the population to get Covid-19 and recover, to establish 'herd immunity' within this country.

Report saying that there is a 75% chance that this season will not be completed. The FA have used plan A what is plan B if this is the case, as 85% has been completed league should Stand as it is . as this is unprecedented no legal case can be aloud. as for losses in income the FA and the players union to fund this loss.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 19:47:58
Greg Clarke from FA seems more concerned with the impact this all has on the premiership and them not fulfilling the fixtures. I guess the TV rights and contract that Sky have in place will have some bearing on the outcome. EFL probably an after thought. Truth is that if anything can go wrong or against us as a club it will.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 22:17:57
Unsurprising that FA Chair Greg Clarke is so keen to get it into people's heads that the Premier League cannot in all probability be completed, given his President is a Villa fan.

European championship should be scrapped and no need to waste more time with an international break. This season must be finished, even if we start the next season late.

{Ed001's Note - it is likely the Euros will be moved to next year.}

13 Mar 2020 16:26:48
Supposedly UEFA wish to prioritise completion of domestic leagues if at all possible, due to concerns over possible legal/ financial ramifications of non-completion for national FA/ league bodies. It would be relatively easy for UEFA to reschedule The Euros for next summer by postponing the next edition of the Nations League for a couple of years.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they had help from those who wanted to stop Liverpool finally winning the Premier League....}

13 Mar 2020 12:27:15
In the freeze of 1962-63 Leeds did not play league games from 22 Dec till 2 March. They still managed to finish the season, if a few weeks late. So no need to panic for some time yet.

Postponed until 03 April has a much better feel than β€˜Season null and void’

We had fantastic momentum, but as others rightfully point out it will enable players to recover from injuries recharge and a fully fit and rested Bielsa team will certainly take some stopping.

Better break the joke books out again though, it’s a long time to cover. Although I know we have the banterists who can do it. MOT.

absolutely. Could this all be an EFL plot to stop us going up?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 11:15:57
Anyone else think that this suspension could be a good thing?
Last season one of the factors preventing us going up was burn out. Chance to get Phillips fit again. Chance for Klich to recharge his batteries after all these games. Chance for Roberts to get fitter. Maybe even a chance for Augustin to get fit to take part this year.
I know we have great momentum but its not all bad!

Good post whitey.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 12:02:34
3 scenarios seem probable
1- season is completed most probably in June or July- the epedemic is only going to get worse for some time
2- season is not completed and declared void so we have to start again in championship- most likely IMO, EFL will love to punish us as usual
3- season stutters on, unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 12:21:42
Totally agree, Whitey. As long as the season does restart, (and finish) the break will benefit us more than any other team in the league. πŸ‘πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’™.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 13:26:12
Interesting times!
I admit there are possibilities but I think if we don't get a chance to finish the season then there will be different things to worry about!
I would imagine that they would either take league as it is or get some computer wizzkid (hopefully not from Derby) to predict the finish either way we would be OK.
The only scenario I am concerned with is that put forward by Italy that the top 4 teams play off.

If they were to take the option not to promote I believe that there would be some huge lawsuits from Leeds and WBA and any other team missing on millions of pounds
Would be time to maybe use those from QSI!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 15:22:58
Whitey - in the unlikely event that they decided to go with computer prediction, why would they need to reinvent the wheel. There are at least two existing sets of staying boffins who have created computer algorithms to generate such predictions. Both of those two have us and Baggies some way clear. (so harder for others to quibble) , albeit not in the same order. I'm sure we'd be happy to be declared joint winners - They also have a common set of four teams in the playoffs - however those were to be sorted out - Bees, Fulham, Florists and out of nowhere, thanks to Agent Matt Smith's heroics last Friday, 'Wall. It would be hard for other teams to argue with the first three but doubtless Brizzle, Preston, Baadiff, Swans and Blackburn (and probably Derby 'cos they like a good moan and despite their incredibly tough run-in would doubtless believe they could've made top six) would take issue with 'Wall.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Mar 2020 15:48:37
Good knowledge Clueless - I was referencing the option that Italy are considering to resolve the Winners of Serie A by taking the top 4 teams and letting them play off.
Knowing how much the EFL consider us their Cash Cow I would think they would look at all options to keep us in the league.

Honestly if a ball isn't kicked I think we would be promoted as you say.
