3 games in and 4 friendlies . The weaknesses in the squad are very apparent . There is still a severe lack of investment to improve the squad in line with MC's top six requirements/ gamble . When you start off you have to build from the back . Everybody can see what's needed.

It's called a spine

We are good from the sides but lack solidity in the middle. Hardly surprising when we don't yet have Bridcutt and we do have Bamba and Wood.

Bridcutt and 2 good replacements for the aforementioned inept individuals we have a chance.

Centre mid is where we need experience, where games are mainly won and lost, hopefully in the form of a birdcage.
If we don't sign another CB or striker, I'd try 2 from Coops, Bartley or Ayling at CB. Roofe playing the free role just behind Ant.

Best Wishes to Cookie on his debut. I hope he puts in a good shift against Salford Docks Ladies today. It will show everyone at LUFC what they can achieve if the play without fear for the rest of the season.

Just my thoughts? Replace Bamba with cooper give Berkeley Capt. Roll bring either turnbal in as 1 or bring silvestry back then get bridcutt in mid because we ain't going nowhere with the others Bamba needs to go wood needs to go out on loan to get confidence or sell him and get in a McCormack type striker why we let Aunty go beyond me!

Getting rid of Matt Smith might prove to be an error of judgement. Starting on Tuesday.

14 Aug 2016 18:45:56
Matt Smith is the same type of player as Chris Woods, he should have stayed at Leeds, his development was coming on a treat, he also would have scored more goals for us, it appears someone dropped a clanger. Maybe McCormack wanted a mate, never understand why 3million Woods Smith on a free, we could of used the money elsewhere.

Green and Wood should not be in any team looking towards top half of the table. Silvestri was a much better keeper despite the howlers, and should not be looking for a new team. As for Wood, he has been given so many chances and opportunities both in the team and in the area that it just defies belief why he is still in the starting line up, let alone in the team?

Monk seems to be streamlining the team, unfortunately he has already pushed his best goalkeeper out of the reckoning, but based on what? He hasn't even given him a chance?

I have a feeling Monk will be gone by xmas, unfortunately, he seems to have been given the opportunity to bring players in, but seems to be displacing the wrong ones with them?

Much as I like Bamba, he ain't no Lucas Radebe and never will be.

Please don't tell me it's early days, points at the beginning of the season are just as important as at the end. (if not more so! )

{Ed013's Note - Bold statement that mate about Silvestri being a much better keeper. I suppose we will never know when you have calamity defenders like Bamba being a liability in each game and giving the keeper no chance. Monk and CO need time and unfortunately with the current running of the club I would guess at him going well before then if the fans and media keep up the pressure on him and the team. I really think with the right backing, Monk can bring success, so if Mr Cellino has ambitions, back him with a solid defender and tough tacking midfielder, then lets see how they gel after the transfer window}

Top postage Ed013.

{Ed013's Note - Thank you George, if only we have a David Batty type midfielder, but I am sure we will see arrivals soon}

15 Aug 2016 13:58:16
I think with Billy Bremner (god rest his soul) , Norman Hunter, and Allan Clarke we could be in with a real chance this season.

Ed013

The David Batty type player has arrived in the form of Birdcage. Now for Bamba and Wood replacements. I have some suggestions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - I think Luke Moore would do ok and as for a striker, I suppose that's the hardest position to find due to the demand}

15 Aug 2016 20:24:15
For Ed013

Silvestri has now played for two seasons and for me he has saved far more crucial shots than he ever let in? He deserves far more loyalty from our club, and at least a season where we can actually put a decent defence in front of him?

For Monk to tell him to look for a new club and then put a proven liability (Green) in his place is a total joke? QPR fans were well happy with his (crap) performance and were pleased to be rid?

I really hope that Monk's faith in Green won't be his downfall, but at the moment it seems obvious where the main problem is?

Green has now conceded 11 goals in 3 games, and even dismissing the fact that 4 of them were penalty deciders, that's a pretty poor record?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - If the defence was better, the keeper would have a better record. I have watched Silvestri a lot and although a good shot stopper, he is too clumsy and can't command his box. I would happily have Turnbull in either of their places}

15 Aug 2016 22:46:47
Ed. Glad someone has finally mentioned Turnbull. Admittedly I only saw him play once last season but the boy done good, and I've been thinking all along that he was the obvious no 1 choice. No idea why we needed a new keeper when we've got 3 who are all ok or better.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - If it wasn't for his injuries, I believe he would be at the highest level}

Morning fellow leeds sufferers, DJ here giving you my view of what I saw and thought after yesterday's disappointing result and second half performance.
Green couldn't do much about the goals maybe closed down the 1st quicker, needs to sort his kicking out, I felt sorry for Ayling who I thought was Man of the match, he looks strong in the tackle and useful coming forward doesn't stand off his opponent like some of the other defenders do, Bamba simply poor and doesn't lead the team how he should like Bartley for big strapping Centre Half's they were too soft especially Bamba concentration levels are inconsistent, too slow to play the ball out from the back the opposition can read us, Charlie Taylor is playing with shackles on doesn't wanna get injured! mm wonder why! Viera is a future talent, no doubt about it, but he is playing too deep giving the ball away too easily and IMO he is not quite ready to be starting regularly, we must get Bridcutt in to take his spot, Sacko had a good 1st half his pace scares defenders and helps us get up the pitch, like the rest of the team he faded in the second half, Pablo ran the game for long periods but he was doing what should be Bridcutts job he was everywhere trying too hard to do everybody else's job, he needs to play the no 10 role higher up the pitch especially if/ when Bridcutt arrives, Mowatt tried hard but his lack of pace is a problem for him and he kept coming off his role on the left into centre, I think his natural position is a flat 4 central mid, but not advanced as he is not quick enough either going forward or getting back, Antonsson was unlucky yesterday service for him dried up he can play a lone CF and will do well for us this season, wood like everyone else on here thought he was poor can't jump struggles to hold up the ball for a big lad plays with a tutu on! 😂 offered nothing to the cause yesterday should be dropped, Roofe will get better a little bit greedy at times but puts effort in and I'm OK with that.
Thought we came out of the traps brilliantly in the 1st half and played some really good football, looked like we were going to steam roller them, but poor defending again cost us lack of concentration from Taylor and the CBs too soft, so positive signs yesterday but GM now knows what's needed and who to trust in this team, said it before will say it again, Bridcutt A quick solid CB that would come straight into the side not as back up but a nailed on starter I would play Cooper with a new CB and drop Bamba and Bartley and we need to find another striker as I don't think wood is going to be the answer! Sorry for the Essay people had a good day out with TVW was happy with some parts of the game but we have a long way to go and monk has a job on his hands, just hope the mafia doesn't get to him in the next few games!

Good concise summary DJ. 1st half superb, 2nd half terrible.
I believe it maybe worth giving Ayling a shot at CB with Bartley or Coops when he's fit? Maybe Bartley had a bad game as he was waiting for Bambi's next mistake and covering for him too much. Coyle and Beradi are capable of playing RB.
Play Roofe floating behind Antonsson.
Go all out to get Birdcage.
Give Green time, he may turn good with good defence in front of him.
And MC, don't sack GM after a handfull of games, give him time to build a new team.

Sorry, should've put 1st half superb (at times)

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 10:43:25
Bartley didn't play that badly when you consider he was waiting for a Bamba mistake and was also covering the left-back spot. Afraid to say Charlie Taylor was worst player in the side, the only thing he showed any hunger for was taking throw-ins!

Sol Bamba says we need to double up on positions well how about doubling him up with Michael Duberry and doubling Wood up with Thomas Brolin and another Green with Rachkuba.
So you get my gist so we need to think of all positions we can double players with to possibly create a worse team.

The first two players you mentioned would walk into this team blindfolded. Bit harsh on Green, don't really rate him but comparing him with Rachkuba is way out.

14 Aug 2016 23:10:29
Green is a good keeper, only fault about yesterday was 1st goal he could've came out quicker, but rachubka, I don't even think he's a footballer he is that bad, and wood, give him service and hopefully he'll score, only time will tell, but bamba is s**te we should have ayling CB and Coyle RB, that's my honest opinion.

15 Aug 2016 20:27:34
Green is NOT a good goalkeeper, check out his playing record, the number of clubs he has worked for, and the length of time he was with each one and the goals conceded.

Silvestri gave 100% and tried hard, saving some serious close in shots. How you can compare this clown with him is beyond me.

I won't mention Rhubarb as he was never a serious contender.

Morning people, another frustrating weekend, good job we are used to it! Really, Wood should come with a health warning, his performances are likely to make you so angry a heart attack is on the cards, he cannot challenge, win a header, create, has no pace, no guile, he holds balls up about as well as a baggy pair of boxer shorts that are very baggy and puts himself about in the manner of a tibetan monk. The only thing that he is doing very well is depriving someone else of an opportunity. Shake it up for Tuesday, get a win and get our season going hopefully. Keep the faith siblings.

Thats disrespectful to Tibetan monks, at least they are focussed and don't cost 20grand a week to sit still and meditate/ do f. ck all!

14 Aug 2016 12:30:08
Surely Monk can see what the rest of us see, that's how poor Wood is, he doesn't just need droppng we need shut and an out and out striker brought in, I know its easier said than done but we need to shell out for a proven striker, with wood we don't have a prayer of going up, there's still plenty of time, get the spine right, goalie, cb and striker and we won't be far away, c'mon Cellino hand in pocket again, and get shut of Bamba and Wood.

Wood is awful. I watched him play for NZ against powerful football nations like Papua New Guinea and he was shown up by amateurs. He couldn't trap a bag of cement and coincidentally he jumps like one.
It's a mystery how he became a pro.
