Leeds1988, have all your friends gone home now after your game of dungeons and dragons has finished, your mum has told you to go to bed and now you're bored, so instead of doing whatever a normal 30 year old would be doing you have decided to come on here to try and cause trouble with the greatest fans in the world? Seriously you poor, remedial, little child it's passed your bedtime!

They say Wood is on Β£8000 a week, that's pretty poor for what he's done, his wages would shoot up to about Β£40 grand per week in The Prem, come on Radz give him what he wants to stay with Leeds! Also Newsnow headlines about the MaCormack link as "has the Daily Mail been drinking again" and it will never happen! Good news! MOT

I thought wood was on 20k, maybe even 25k. i'm sure I heard/read that some where when he first signed. i'm pretty sure it said he was the biggest earner by a long way

I've just read on nn, so prob not true, that Wood is rumoured to be on Β£8k a week. If I was him I'd be peed off, insulted, wanna leave if I were reading that we're just about to sign this German on an alleged Β£60k a week or mc badge kisser on Β£45k. If true, come on radz put your hand in your pocket and pay our main man what he's worth, he could write your rein nto the history books.

Wood was the highest paid player last season on circa Β£19k a week.

14 Aug 2017 21:23:43
For me resigning McCormack would be an excellent signing on top of what we have, not as a replacement. Not saying I like everything he's done, but in football terms I think it would be a very shrewd signing.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

15 Aug 2017 07:01:10
Just do not see the attraction of McCormack. Look at his track record since leaving Leeds and Fulham. He has not settled and not refound his Form why would he do it again with us.

14 Aug 2017 20:53:35
George. Whilst i see your point on selling Wood at potentially 600% -800% profit i still believe its better for Leeds if he stays. The lad has proved he's a goalscorer at this level and if the new players step up i'm sure he can at least equal last years total of goals. 25 plus goalscorers are rare in all divisions in all countries and if serious about promotion and having success you don't sell them. We don't have any player who can get close to that amount of goals imo. Roofe is not a number 9 as some have said and Antonsson has gone on loan. Leeds is a big club. We are looking for promotion. Selling Wood will decrease our chances. Maybe the German geezer coming on loan will bang in 30 but i doubt it. Maybe we can pick up someone with premier/championship experience who will score 20 plus for around the 10 mill mark. Again i doubt it. You don't sell your best players, simple as.

Good post Corkwhite1, bang on the money there mate. I would think it's a step backward if he goes but I fear the worst as Burnley are coming in with another bid of Β£18M plus Β£5M in add ons! It's just reported on Sky Transfer News! Gutted at the thought. Great post though. MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 21:31:13
Also Corkwhite1 why go looking for a 20 goal plus striker when we already have one? We can't buy a replacement for him as if there was a striker out there the Premiership teams would be on it like a rash! Keep him for another season, if we get promoted then he's got his wish of playing in The Premiership, if not then give him his wish, Wood leaving is a big minus! MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 21:54:47
Don't disagree Cork but a big problem is the wage he could earn if he moves. Probably 5 times what he's on now, plus whatever share of the transfer fee. Also, bear in mind the season before last there were more fans slagging him off than sticking up for him. So we can hardly claim that we've fallen in love with him like we have Pontus and Berardi. And he's not come through the academy like Sam and Lewis and Charlie. Don't think he will have any great loyalty to us. I could be wrong.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 23:19:54
Speedo mate i'm not sure what you are saying. But let's be honest about Leeds fans. We can be very hard to please even in these last dozen or so years. 12 months ago lots on here slagged Wood and same lads totally changed their view come January. So far Wood has kept stum regarding a transfer to his credit because as you say he will at least quadtruple his wages. As for Byram Cook and Taylor, all three got slated for leaving Leeds. I don't get your point on that one mate? It would be best for Leeds if Wood stays in my my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 00:25:08
Good retort post Cork. However, that's an awful lot of wonga to turn down. I'd sell and hope for the best outcome. This club got into serious financial difficulties in part because of player sales which did not occur at top price such as Bowyer and Kewell. It'd be nice to be on the receiving end of a great deal for a change.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 07:10:12
Lots of clubs sell some of their best players, even Barcelona! It's about the price you are offered and how much the player wants to stay. This is a chance for him to play in the premiership now not some theoretical chance in the future. Also it's an opportunity for him to earn a lot more money now and protect his future. He might not ever be in such a marketable position again. It also possibly depends on what other player options we might already have lined up. Opinion always seems to have been divided on Wood, Speedy is right. I think if it's over 20 million and Wood wants to go it's probably going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 08:49:51
What I was rather too long winded in trying to say is that I think its going to be an easier decision for him to go than it was for the lads who came through the academy.

Best 11 for the more physical games ?, Wiedwald, Ayls Janson Penns Beradi Then Brids and Okane in midfield Wood up front and the attacking three is where it gets difficult best 3 from Roofe Saiz Elioski Dallas Klich and Hernandez even Viera might be worth a shout. There is also Gomes Sackho and Philips Ekuban and this new German recruit . If Saiz can play on the right might be tempted to go Saiz Herns and Roofe for those 3 places ? When you look at the players available think we just need them to gel and get used to the league, then you will a better team performance ? Kent and a centre back before window shuts would be very very good

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2017 16:31:54
I personally disagree pa, not with your selection of players particularly, just the formation. We get over run or stiffed in the middle, so for me against the physical teams we need more in the middle, until the time where we have two really strong number 4 types who can win the battle allowing the the forward 4 more freedom.

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 16:01:53
I don't understand why the hell we or most teams now play this 4-2-3-1 ! Why not try a few games at 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 we have players that can play that way and we would be stronger in midfield. Play the usual back 4 then RW alioski RC OKANE LC VIERA LW SAIZ and pair wood n ekuban up top

Believable2 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2017 12:11:35
As always football is a matter of opinion however the makeup of the team is not. We are pretty much the same team as last year. Not talking about how we started last year but how we finished and the multitude of games in between where we had very few shots on target never mind goals. For me Saiz has to play and make a difference. Klich has to get fit and make a difference and Alioski has to live up to the hype. We have the makings bu midfield is weak at the moment and we need a another commanding centre half more striking power up front if we are going to get out of this division.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Aug 2017 13:20:03
My thoughts exactly

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 13:34:06
Its the midfield where we really need to improve. too many games last year we lost the midfield battle and that impacts on the rest of the team. O'Kane should go a long way towards giving us some steel in the middle and he didn't play much last year - Viera will make a difference there too and there is much more and much better to come from the new guys. I wouldn't panic just yet Hess. Besides the team last year weren't too bad last season we just needed a few more to improve in vital areas. I do agree a new centre half is needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 13:29:08
What makes you say we are pretty much the same team as last season? Allioski and saiz look promising. Reserving judgement on Klich for now. Anita can do a job. BJ looks like he knows what he's doing and adds something to the attack. Ekuban could turn out to be a solid plan B in games. How many players would we need to not be classed as the same team as last year? Still extremely early but from what I've seen the potential is there for me.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 15:29:35
Look at the team sheet-starting 11. I am just talking about the current situation. It could improve or not but TC is going for the old hands at the moment. I hope its because the new players are better but TC wants to prove it by giving the original team enough time to show their strengths and weaknesses before making the changes

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 18:51:03
It's because largely the new guys are not fully fit or not fully adapted to the League. Starting with 6+ new players in the team is a recipe for disaster.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 13:58:23
The make up of the team has changed! We are not using all of the new players in the same game, that probably wouldn't work, but the make up has changed. However it doesn't really matter if the make up of the team changes if the same players are playing better and the coach has better tactics and I would say from the games I have seen that is true. The only exception is Sacko who I think looks worse than last year and needs some regular football eslwhere to try and build his confidence. We are showing more hunger and determination and I think we have more skill in the team and Okane, Phillips and Fallas all look to be better to me. Results are as important than make up and let's compare the results of the start to last year with the start of last year and when we get to it hope that the results at the end of the year are better than last year . Providing the middle of the year is as good as last year that should mean at least the play offs! There you go that was easy!

Fulham tomorrow is the game where your see just how average Leeds united are. Bolton were easy n yet you didn't look comfortable stall and then Preston who are very average and you couldn't win them with 10 men, your team is a joke n you actually think you stand a chance against Fulham who are the best footballing team in the championship. As I have said before the current team is basically the same as last season - maybe not as good. Just change Cooper/Pennington for Bartley; and Alioski for Dallas/ Sacko and there you have it. It's not a bad team but for all the signings not much change. If Wood doesn't score he does little else (He didn't look as good as Bolton's Madine) . We were dominated in mid field for large parts of the Bolton and Preston games. - As we were on many occasions last year. I still don't think Philips is good enough yet and Hernandez despite his odd 'killer' pass goes missing too often. Alioski might come good but he needs to get used to the championship. The loanee from Manchester did well but is covering for a player who also does well so no great improvement there. Pennington could be a find but Cooper always gives the opposition at least one clear chance to score whenever he plays. Midfield needs to be strengthened and the also the wing play. Roofe isn't there yet and Dallas gives little going forward although he is capable of the odd goal. The point is that for all the spending Hype little has happened to change the team. Klich, Saiz and Alioski might make a difference but that remains to be seen. At the moment we are no further on than we were last season. We could have dropped points against Bolton ( a poor team) and we could have lost against a ten man Preston. Not doom and gloom just a reality check. As a club we are much further on but the team is pretty much the same.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I just don't agree Hess. I listened to the games at the start of last season and I remember how depressing it was. I have watched all the games so far this season including two live games. We have more strength in depth this year, we still could benefit from extra defensive cover but we won against Bolton even though we lost two key defenders . I think Phillips is playing better than he did last year, Okane is in the team and playing better. Hernandez is always going to be the type of player who impresses in spells, but I think he has had a good start. Dallas looks a better player to me than he did last year. Alioski is already putting in good performances and shows he can scare defences and he is still settling into the championship. Saiz likewise. I think those two additions alone are making and will make a big difference. A lot of players are going to get booked trying to deal with them this year. Alioski is far better than Sacko and I think Saiz will be better than Hernandez. At the back, we have gained Pennington, Anita and BJ not forgetting Shaunessy, who has done ok. I think the players on the pitch have made a better start than the team last year and played better football. Fulham will be a good test of how quickly the manager and team can learn.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 11:14:15
Agree Spanish. Particularly think Saiz and Alioski will be great for us, although Alioski was poor against Fulham. It's very early days but I'm hopeful the team will become better than last season. But probably not great unfortunately

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 12:18:29
Agree Speedy, I think Preston made it very difficult for Alioski to connect with the defenders. They quickly had two men onto them very quickly and it was hard for him to find the space. This made him go further and further up the pitch and I like him better when he has space in front of him and he is running at people. What I really did like about him though is that he didn't give up, he kept on running, kept on asking for the ball and you could see that both he and the coach were trying to find an answer and it al it's worked . He also sometimes got into good positions and wasn't picked out. I think when we play away it will be easier for him to hit teams hard on the break but we need to find an approach for home games. If you look at clips of Sacko getting the ball on the wing and Alioski getting it, you see the difference. Sacko just has no confidence and looks scared .

14 Aug 2017 08:31:58
We still do not have that No. 4 player that great Leeds teams have had in the past Bremner, Jones, Batty, Dacourt to name some of the best . We have to win the mid field battle and impose ourselves on physical teams in the Championship. Sad to say we also need to impose ourselves from centre half and Coops is only squad player standard we need another Barts . Really we need some tougher players for the harder games so we are not getting beat up

Vieira is potentially that player-sound positional sense, clean tackler and tidy distribution. Phillips too headless -enthusiastic, but seems to struggle with the discipline and focus of holding a position; Phillips tends to stray further forwards, but does not seem to possess the skill for an attacking role.
