How the heck do you choose man of the match for last night? The whole defence were outstanding.

Only one for me Rob green

Would've given it to Jansson. Green kept us in it, but was also at fault for the goal.

agree rob almost single handedly won us the game. all defence were good but he stood out for me

Surely it must be a toon forward. have 27 shots and missing 26! From our point of view they were even more important than green!

Good point Cura. and us, 2 shots (1 goal). A monumental rearguard action still papers over the cracks, going forward.

Alright lads n lasses. I think maybe the player of the season awards should be one of Woody, Bartley or Janssen (or my bromance with Luke Ayling) but I honestly think Rob Green could creep into the reckoning. After a shaky start the old boy has been immense and gets better every game for me. He has undoubtedly won us as many points as Woody and has justified Monkey Man's faith in him. Didn't rate him when we signed him but I've well and truly changed my opinion of him. Anyway, off out now to get absolutely trolled with the old bread knife. We're off to an all you can eat buffet and that fat knacker thinks it's a challenge, not an offer. Not looking forward to the dutch opening later on though. Happy Easter boys and girls. Down the pints and Up the Whites in the 95th minute! MM

Posted about a month ago that if there was a player of the 2nd half of the season then I'd give it to green by a country mile. Tough one but I'd give it to England's number 1, Green. Wood 2nd. Most dependable player award if there is one goes to Berardi. Young player should be Viera.

Mick happy Easter. Did she get you an egg? Green has added an old head to a young team and apparently has been great behind the scenes so I would be in agreement with your wisdom

What a terrible set of results for us this weekend. Thankfully we got something and we're still in the top 6. Knowing the Championship though, it could be completely different on Monday.

watched game 2nd time over just now and have to say i was even more impressed second time over. have said this before but what i love most is the teams attitude and belief.

i put a few quid on the draw and wood to score next. just knew team wouldn't give up and that given one chance he would not miss. Mrs was moaning as i put it on then eating bit of humble pie after 96 minutes which made it even sweeter.

many have been negative about bridcutt. i agree on what has been said however but thought he was great last night and our best player in first half. Many have praised phillips and again i agree with what has been said however last night he was very very poor.

Green was great, i think pontus is a bad egg but quality and does give all when on the pitch no questioning that. play like that we could win playoffs. great defense, great keeper, great attitude and get the goals even when playing badly.

All the same as my opinion except the bit about Jansson, we're the best team in the world 😄.

Well I'm really looking forward to being at ER on Monday. Need a win, a few goals to help goal difference, and Pontus booking!

15 Apr 2017 13:00:26
Def need a Pontus booking. His yellow last night watching it again was def not a bookable offence, I could even argue that it wasn't a foul. If only he hadn't picked up all those stupid, uncalled for yellows earlier in the season then he'd probably be safe with under 10 cards now.

15 Apr 2017 13:37:04
True Lucas. Weren't at least 2 for excessive celebration?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2017 14:02:35
Pontus yellow looked 50-50 challenge to me. Barts wasn't a foul either, but Shelvey's on Pablo, which quietened him for most of the game was a foul and went unpunished. Maybe I am biased. Up for Villa this aft.

15 Apr 2017 15:30:44
It had to be for something he said. Again a needless booking. He's picked up a number of needless ones. I love the passion but it will end up having costing 5 games missed. Hope he doesn't deliberately pick up the next and we miss play offs due to the results of the as 3 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2017 16:09:30
Newcastle fans got them both booked. Ref and linesman were intimidated by them, hence why Shelvey got away with everything.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2017 17:13:20
Canada. It's tricky. Does he get a booking on Monday and we therefore miss out on playoffs or does he help us to playoffs and then miss them because he gets a booking in last but one game? Personally I think there is no chance of him going half a dozen games without a booking so I'd rather take the chance of him getting it on Monday

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2017 18:23:16
Scenario; 80 mins up 3-0, 85 mins We get a penalty Pontus to take it, trips up on the run up, knocks the ball with his arm, gets up picks up the ball and respots it. Yellow card and £250 from Harry hill. Win win

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2017 18:52:42
We can't win really which is I guess my whole point. Without his stupid bookings he wouldn't have missed any games this season through suspension ! That being said I think I'd rather he picked up the card on Monday and we take our chances for the last 3 games knowing if we make it he's available let for play offs.

15 Apr 2017 18:49:34
I don't see how Jansson being banned would cost us a playoff place. Then again, if we can't beat three teams below us without him, then we wouldn't deserve to finish in the top 6. We need him to get booked v Wolves.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2017 23:53:06
One player who was shocking tonight and deserves to be dropped in my opinion is Wood. Had an extremely poor game, well below par and finally decided to turn up to the show in the 95 minute. Not good enough, I expect more, I expect passion, I expect pride. 😜

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Apr 2017 09:55:55
Even though he was awful, you can't drop someone who can get you points in such big games, at this stage of the season we need everything and to keep the sam team is crucial.

I find myself strangely agreeing with Curahee on this occasion. Was mainly casting the bait out for Aussie to bite and run with it. Although Aus would've probably disagreed and said that Giles had a poor game last night, he was non existent throughout the whole match!

15 Apr 2017 15:58:59

I agree. The man thinks he can get away with only one goal every other game. Strolling around enjoying the view for 94mins then whilst trying to get out of the way of that hard lump of leather, it hits his leg and goes in. How jammy is that?

Cracking result tonight though unbelievable as we were well and truly battered for most of the game! Pontus and Green outstanding, our defending did us proud. 3 points against Wolves is a must, ignore what Wendies and Fulham do we control our own fortunes.

Anyone notice how bitter BBC match reports seem to be whenever we get a result? If we win, it's usually how lucky we are and tonight they're crying about Newcastle's corners and possession. Having a corner doesn't mean you deserve to win, especially as most of them were straight on Jansson's head.
