With Nathaniel Chalobah returning to Chelsea from his loan spell at Forest, BMD could take a punt at loaning him till the end of the season to strengthen the weak midfield.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No he won't, can't afford him

Hi was just wondering can anyone clear something up for me plz. David haigh works for gfh and can't possibly have more money than his employers do. So will he just be buying us with a few pals and leaving his job at gfh and winging it with us waiting for the premier payout. Or staying within his role in gfh and just wanted to be a part of leeds i'm non the wiser still. Non of it makes sense to me. Gfh obviously want to keep there hand in the pie by keeping small stake in theclub waiting fir the big pay out as they are an investment bank makes sense. Also if we have the new owners that will be another potential 3 investers so the club will be owned by 5 people and companies that I know of I honestly don't think its going to work by the way I like gfh and haigh i'm not bashing them for making the last 10 years of missery a little better to swallow. If this fair play rule means you can only spend a % of your gate receipts diddnt master bates sell our gate money againt a loan?so are we broke?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No makes no diff about the loan just goes on attendance

Agree0 Disagree0

It means you can only spend a percentage of earned income I.e all income generated by the club through gate receipts, programme sales, advertising revenue, etc. owners can only put £6m of their own money in this year, £4m next, £2m per year after. Man C get round it by owners sponsoring stadium for £400m which is classed as income generated rather than straight cash in. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

How are Hull getting round it they have just spent 15 million and don't own the ground

Ben Watson out of contract think he would be good for leeds. Any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah, he could def do a job for us, last thing we need is any squad players, McDermott has stated he wants players who can improve the team, not the squad, 3 of his signings. Murphy, wooton and hunt couldn't make the team Saturday

Agree0 Disagree0

Propably because all 3 have been injured recently you will see saturday that at least two of them will start

I'm afraid our once great club is rotten to the core and has been for some time. Shady takeovers and no investment in the playing staff for years. Despite having one of the largest incomes/crowds. Renting the ground and TA. I know most of this was bates doing but all I hear from GFH is hot air. We want answers and some real investment

gfh are about to sell the club so they won't be putting any money into transfers .

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you seen LUST I/v with David Haigh? On LUST site this evening following meeting this morning. Puts the ball firmly in Brian McDermotts court re signings. Says they have already confirmed to him that the money is there to make the signings he wants! This sounds all too familiar to what happened at Reading just before he got sack. They said he hadn't spent money in January t/f window which had made available to him. The other question if the funds are there why was BM fairly sure there would be no signings before Saturday? All seems a bit strange!

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats the betting that if the takeover goes ahead it will be completed on 1st February much the same as last year and the same old excuses will be rolled out about legal stuff and paperwork held it up and unfortunately the window is now closed but we will see if we can't pick up a few loanees that nobody else wanted etc etc.
Please if there is anybody out there willing to buy the club and actually invest big money in class new players to take us back to where we should be hurry up and do so.

I noticed that Blackpool are in a major struggle to have enough players to fill a bench and their owner is unwilling to bring any in. On Saturday they used to youth players who had played earlier that day. Ince (snr) is making waves and is likely to go soon.

Why not swap Ince (jnr) for enough players to fill their squad. Varney, Norris, Drury, White.heck I'd throw in Hunt.

That should solve both our problems and Blackpool don't need to spend any money.

JB (foolishly optimistic white)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Oyston would never agree to that, he would then need to pay the wages for all those players! They barely pay the current ones, during the summer they only get something like £75 a week.}

15 Jan 2014 14:33:16
Ed you forgot the free pass to the pleasure park thrown in!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read that zaliukas can playing as a holding midfielder, anyone seen him play there for hearts or think he would be any good there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Despite our current issues just think where we would be if KB still in charge? Very similar position to Blackpool are now in I suspect!

Agree0 Disagree0

He wood do well there, when he gets the ball he always controls it well, looks up and plays good passes. He would do well there.
He has had a bit of a blip though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paper reckons Ince is after Varney!

Wasn't Austin brought in as a midfielder or central defender? If so why not put him at the back, bet he's more solid there What's ya thoughts lads?

Varney set to move to blackpool so might not feature at all at the weekend. I can see Hunt getting some game time against leicester with Smith being banned.

Speaking of Smith, Am I missing something here? Hasn't Smith been decent for us so far?! He's scored his fair share and he seems to be improving a lot still. Don't get all the negativity towards him at all, it seems such a juvenile way of thinking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rather keep varney than blunt!

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he has no control, runs around like a headless chicken, when he's on we just play hoofball and overall he is a lower league player!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jan 2014 14:02:44
Can't see us letting Varney go unless somebody comes in, but I agree with you on the Smith witch hunt some people are on, but then some people are never happy unless they slag off everyone at Lufc!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Smith has returned 7 goals in 22 games. Based on that we would probably expect 15 or so in total this season. Not bad for the 2nd striker. If Ross manages to get around the 30 mark.

I do think the midfield need to chip in with the goals and hopefully Kebe and Cameron will do so.

Just need that little more.

DS

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, I bet his record compares with most in their first dozen or so starts with Leeds and this from a player that cost nothing and was playing none league not so long ago. Not sure what people were expecting of a 6' 6" bloke on a free, he was never going to be messi was he. How long did it take Ross to get going at Leeds, nearly a full season? Seems we always have to have someone to criticise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster here. 2nd reply saying we always seem to play hoof ball when he's on, unfortunately I don't think that's just because of smith, I think we play hoof ball most of the time at the moment, for example, against sheff w from the off we were hoofing it everywhere. We need to get our general play sorted. But Smith is a great asset to have, he is another option from the bench if needed which can change the impetus of a game. I'm hoping we get ALF in, would be a great move. We also need a CM who can hold a ball and play decent passes, then we might enjoy some decent football, not sure that will happen this window though.

Agree0 Disagree0

2nd poster here. Granted I have not been to as many games as I would have wished this season due to distance and work, however what I have seen of Smith he is dreadful. His control is shocking, everything just bounced off anywhere, he is at times out jumped by smaller players. Vs QPR barton outjumped him. Smith seemed to have lead boots on! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, this is mine. He is a very very poor player!
Also to the poster who said 'what do you expect from a 6ft 6" free', well if they are playing for a team like leeds control for a start, and a player like him not playing for us. Yes I know we are skint, but his transfer was a desperate act. I am happy to be proved wrong, and hope I am. I will be the first to post a congratulations to him on here if we get some really quality. I believe the saying is though, you get what you pay for!

Varney to Blackpool; contract ends this year so get cash, free wages and I'll pay for the train journey meself (just been paid). Standard class

We could sign Chabolah or McEacheran from Chelsea on loan as I don't see either of them getting much (if any) playing time, I do like Mowatt (talented and home grown) but he is only a young lad and I do not think he can play every championship game, there is no contact between Leeds and Chelsea that I am aware of but I am just saying what I would like to see.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sign Chabolah and McEacheran because Mowatt is only a young lad?

Mowatt 18
Chabolah 19
McEacheran 20

Hardly much of a difference really. I'd like Chabolah to sign because he's pretty good with lots of potential.

McEacheran is a bit rubbish really. Struggled on loan at Swansea and Watford, isn't setting the world on fire.

We are desperate for a centre forward I can't believe that the club have not gone for Billy Sharp a proven championship goalscorer who when starts averages a goal every other game, we are also desperate for a couple of decent centre halfs the three that played on Saturday are terrible why he sticks with tom Lees I just don't know the lad is league 1 at best. I've yet to be convinced by the manager is tactics and decsions he makes are baffling if things go bad Saturday I believe the manager should go.

I hate to say it but if Udders pull off a deal for Joe Lolley then they have some very good young talent on their hands, what with already securing Nahki Wells.

I feel (Once again) we have missed a trick with both players, both fit in to McDermott's model of being young and for the future, yet they don't fit in to the clubs model of being free or being able to loan them!

The so called 'takeover' is complete, but yet no official word. I suggest they crack on before we miss out on anyone worth signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They can't 'crack on' with take over as it's down to the FA to approve it.

Supposedly all been approved for a while now, god knows why it has taken so long though.
