Has Roofe got what it takes to be the next big thing not only for Leeds but for English football, he's obviously a very versatile player, and I don't disagree that he's got a lot of learning to do particularly against better defenders than what the championship holds, but that doesn't mean he can't prove himself on the bigger stages. The way he has played against villa, Derby, Rotherham, and Liverpool in recent games I feel as though he's an unsung hero for us, he does the dirty work, gets stuck in, and is great on the ball with usually a good end product whether a cross or a shot on target. What do we think, the new Dele Alli?

Samo posted yesterday about him being our alli. I agree, from what I've seen he's a similar type of player and could be as good

Let's not get carried away. Understandably it has taken Roofe time to get up to speed with Championship football as he had moved from playing in League 2. I felt his performance against Derby was one of his best for the club and now needs to maintain consistent performances for the rest of the season before we starting talking of him as the new Dele Alli

Notts i hate the term, 'the new'.
Don't think people are saying he is the new, just could he potentially be as good as?

He''s had half a season in this league and as Notts says it has taken him time to adjust. It's a huge leap from league 2 to the championship and he is improving. Don't think we'll see the best of him until next season, but until then let's stop making comparison's to premership players with more experience and putting pressure on the lad.

Could do with chipping in with a few goals, reminds me of rod Wallace the way he runs at defenders and turns quickly

Apologies Curahee, just quoting Samowhite 5 and you appear to share the same view. Just saying.

Rambles a bit but bear with me was listening to Talksport saturday night and Stuart Pearce was on, he was talking primarily about Delle Ali of Spurs and how in his opinion there was a young player that had managed his career right, despite big offers from Premier League clubs he signed a new contract and stayed 2 more years at MK Dons playing regular first team football before joining Spurs and how doing that has allowed him to be the player he is now, interestingly he used Sam Byram and Lewis Cooke as examples of young players who made the jump too early and are now suffering the consequences, surely there is a message in there for Charlie T somewhere, can we get Stuart Pearce to Elland Road for a chat with all our lads

Wilson if only, but what speaks louder words of wisdom from a failed manager or cheque books? !

Good point Wils, some young players are swayed too much by their agents and think the handing in of his transfer request was all down to his agent. Maybe after what he's been part of this season CT has had a change of mind. I would like CT to stay but honestly believe it'll be hard to turn down £7-10m for a young lad that's only got 6 months left on his contract. Could use that money to push to get into the top 2.

P.S. Psycho was one of my non Leeds footballing heroes. Always played with passion, pride and once with a broken leg, ouch!

The thing is, if you believe the figures, Cook was offered £30k a week to go to Bournemouth whereas he was on £6k a week at Leeds. Bearing in mind he was 19 at the time, after 3 years he will have cleared at least £2.3 million after tax. He will then only be 22 and financially secure if he's sensible. Even if he doesn't cut it in the PL, he would probably get a place in most Championship squads and at say £12k a week for 10 years, clear another 3 million by the time he retires, at current wage levels, while playing every week. Not saying that was his thinking, just a scenario where a move to the PL can set yourself up for life and the opportunity to still have a great career after. What's the phrase, carpe diem or sieze the day!

i think sadly players listen more to their agents than more reasonable advisers and agents are all about the money.

Still a long way to go lads. Good we are where we are but we need to stay calm. I need to stay calm. One game at a time.

It would be nice to go into the last home game of the season against Norwich in the same position as we did in '92. That is we were already Champions. 🏆 Too much to hope for I suppose? 😜

With the season going great for us and everyone rightly crowing about how young guns who is the next star coming through from our youths I've herd about Wilks quite a lot but I know some of you guys will have seen them in action and will hopefully give me some feedback

Boston, is he the striker who wasn't on the bench a few games ago? I asked a similar question and someone replied that he was looking really good, quick, powerful and a good finisher

15 Jan 2017 15:47:17
Yes that's correct curahee we must have a strongest squad for years because we don't have many juniors on the bench i thought Wilks might have got a run out at cambridge
