On this Day in 1967, Elland Road recorded it's highest attendance, as 57,892 watched LUFC play Sunderland in a FA Cup 5th Round Replay. I was there. Capacity was 52,000 ! Squashed in like sardines. No chance of getting out to go to the loo. Lots of rolled up newspapers being used and the terraces pouring with pee. Those were the days 😀

Was there too. Couldn't move . Those were the days I frequented the kop when I wasn't playing myself - Yorkshire League only though. Was at the third game at Boothferry Park. Nightmare getting in and missed Belfitt's goal in the 10th minute or so. A Bremner/Giles combo sorted it. Bremner messing up for once and letting Sunderland back in and Giles scored the winning goal from the spot. Happy days.

wow look at you two old fogies remenicing about the day war broke out. didn't realise you were both so old, I was about minus 18 at the time so don't remember the good old days, but was there one day when jody morris run riot against yeovil and we lost 3-2 or when Neil killkenny played cheltenham off the park for a 1-1 draw.

16 Mar 2017 00:25:50
Well when you imagine a good atmosphere Aussie with 25 or 30 thousand sitting down these days, just imagine what it was like when there were 57000 of us standing mainly (admittedly all peeing ourselves)

know to be honest there are a few things i am gutted i didn't see. My granddad saw Bobby darin live, and my step father saw queen live and the great leeds team. I would loved to of seen all three. Also i do miss the tearrses. Seats where common place by time i started going leeds but i did use to be in the stands at the old den, the atmosphere was amazing and i bet it would out of this world at er back in the day. let's be honest it is still pretty good now.

Those old guys are right the atmosphere with standing areas was so much better. Enjoyed the atmosphere against Wendies but it didn't compare with old days. Can't remember pre 1974 as I was 5 then but loved the games in 70's and the 80's. Thousands jumping up and down was mental.

16 Mar 2017 12:27:02
Which old guys ?

16 Mar 2017 12:54:33

The Good old days included standing on the open Kop One week soaked in rain the next in a covering of snow. In the boys pen just behind the goals. Can't remember how much we paid to get in. We used to meet up under the Guinness clock and walk it to Elland Road (and back) to save on pocket money.

Leo. Not sure about the boys pen but the Scratching Shed was 3shillings and 6 pence as I recall. And yes BW I do get excited by Pontus. Are you pretending you don't ? 😉

If we are being serious BW, I agree. Never thought Pontus is our best player but he sums up everything that's good about Leeds United at the minute

leeds owe me a massive thank you, I was scammed by dodgy dealings with the company betway (don't use them) so to spite them i put 30 quid on fulham to over double my money and they conceed in extra time, could be good for leeds and my curse has finally worked in leeds favour. so we learn from this, don't let me bet and never use betway they are one dirty company

i signed up to and got a bonus but then had to bet 300 in 50 days in sports at over 1.75 odds or your money and winnings is locked, which is bit steep considering the when the fun stops stop campaign, however they are the conditions.

The problem was I had three 'accas' with Brazil U17 v Ecuador U17. It was bet in play and i placed the three bets 7 minutes into the game. Brazil went 3-0 up and they then voided my bets.

One 'acca' had already lost and they took my stake as the bet was already down. However the two bets that came in went down from 30 to 19 and 48-31. The reason the bet was voided was as betway didn't close the in play market in time, so 100% there fault.

I spoke to the first person who said it happened twice that night with the market, he said i can't get my stake back as the bet lost regardless, but they cannot pay full winnings as the bet went down.

then they said it happens about once every 5 years and it's not a problem, despite saying it happened twice that night. I said i lost faith in the company and wanted some money. they said i can't as i did not meet their wager requirements. i spoke to a second person who was better and in the end they agreed i could get my money back but halved my winnings with them, which made me angry.

i spoke to a third person who said the same, so i lost half my winnings because i was unprepared to bet another 175 quid with a company that closes markets and voids winning games. so in a fit of anger, i put everything on fulham to win to get my winnings to what it should be. that worked out well for me.
