I am sick of all the crap about Bates he wont go he has had it all at Chelsea. There have been people who are interested in Leeds but they never come up with the money, he could sell it to a company who will just strip us of any assets, it allways better the devil you know, we dont like the bloke but he got us out of the crap mwe were in and I dont want to go back to that. I am just not interested in Bates but I am interested in the team and I will support them, I am off on Tuesday night wouldnt miss it, funny how many people wanted tickets for the fa cup match at scums ground but now are saying they wont go to Elland Road support leeds do the boys proud on Tuesday night get behind them and you never know what might happen.

Funny how Howson is getting stick after a dodgy perfomance last saturday. For those of you who were at the game and didnt see, and for those who are just jumping on the bandwagon, Jonny was physically sick in the middle of the game! Now for me, he has shown commitment to the cause for playing while he was (literally) sick. Now all I have to say is good on him for playing still, and give the guy a break, at least he tried, even though he did feel ill! MOT

My grandma has shown great commitment to being a Leeds fan over the years but I would never expect her to put a Leeds shirt on! Regardless of comittment you must be good enough and often enough to put that white shirt on - ok pat him on the back for his dedication just don't expect that to be the reason to continue playing him - I am entitled to my opinion and to voice it!

Im the OP and Im not saying dont voice your opinion...where did i say that...and by the way this is my opinion and I can give mine! I was only giving facts. How many times last season did Howson save us, who turned the game around to get us promoted? I just think its ridiculous and so contadictive (not saying you!) that some people change their minds on and off about players after one bad game. I think O'Brien has lost his touch but I havent once bad mouthed him because he still plays for the team I love and support. I try not to be critical of Leeds because Im sure they have people who look at sites like this to see people's opinions. If I have something to say I will and so should you but back to the real reason I replied back is to say to you, I did not tell you or anyone else that they werent allowed their opinion, i just stated my opinion by saying how i thought it was funny how people were giving Howson stick when he is probably one of our better players.

I cannot understand these people who state they will not criticise the team or management as it is disloyal. Blindly swallowing everything that is pitched to you is what keeps dictatorships and poor governments in power! Those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. WE pay for this club and WE ARE entitled to make a criticism if we so choose. What happened to freedom of speech? Howson has been poor this season, and so what if he puked half way through the game? If he was ill he should not have played - great his commitment is unquestioned, but what if his unfitness to play had cost us 3 points? {Ed045's Note - He proved last season he is worthy of wearing a Leeds shirt, 13 goals was it? All good players have a bad run, Henry, Drogba etc.. Some fans need to realise we don't have a cash flow like Leicester, QPR or West Ham, and we are a CHAMPIONSHIP team so Taarabt, Nolan and Barton won't play for us until we are a Prem team...

Op again. Thanks Ed. If things got bad at Leeds and I wasnt happy with it then I would say, this being aimed to the person who said I wont criticise...what i do is critcise when things need to be...Leeds dont in my opinion and neither does Howson. I am a season ticket holder and i pay my money too to the club I support and have done for years, I dont 'swallow' anything...but for me, Bates hasnt done anything wrong, SG hasnt really and thats just what I think. I dont think it is disloyal to criticise I just dont think there is a point to always whinging about something and that seems to be a problem with Leeds fans, we are not a Prem team anymore so dont have the same pulling power with players as before, we have players who want to be there, any that dont are shown the door and we have a manager that cares. I just thought i would back our captain and say how it amuses me that people criticise everything! MISS LEEDS UNITED

Further to my Grandma response - I think you contradict yourself - you tell me I''m entitled to my opinion and then imply I shouldn't express it as it may upset someone at the club - a player or a manager? The simple fact is I do stay quiet but only for so long - believe it or not I have felt this way about Howson since Division one days but have said nothing - I was working on Saturday so it's a complete coincidance that Howson had a bad game - I am a regular though both home and away! The response after yours re dictatorships though extreme has a point - you can only sit back for so long and be served up rubbish. My question remains why do we persist with Howson week in week out and why have we not solved the defence problem after about 18 months - just look at Doms columns - he is being as diplomatic as he can but I would love to hear his unedited version?! How long do we wait for SG to solve these problems? {Ed045's Note - I agree with everything in terms of the frustration, I feel it too, but how long will I wait? Personally forever, as Leeds are my team forever and through thick and thin I will support, whether that is in the Prem or if that is in Sunday league. I agree there is a problem, but patience is a virtue, we're in no rush are we? Why not get to the prem and stay there rather than get there and drop again for a temporary confidence to the club, we are not Burnley, we are not Derby and we are not Sheff Utd, we are Leeds United and deserve to be in the prem, so lets get there and stay there.

Im not saying dont post things cos someone at the club will get upset, no its just negative and i dont think it will do the team any good to know of some fans (again not implying you) are negative. My OP was just for me to say I think it is funny that now Howson is being targetted, as the way I have seen it, he has been Leeds fans most favoured player because he is a local lad. I dont doubt for one minute that you dont support Leeds to a massive extent like I do, and I wasnt even trying to post anything to make someone have a go at my post, Im just trying to re-itterate that I found it amusing that he is getting stick and that some people on here probably havent been to as many games like we have and are just going on about it...say what you like about the club, give your opinion but my point to your response though not entirely directed to you, is that we need to be positive, create a good atmosphere on here, at ER and that will rub off on the players

Grandma man again! Replying to ED - I totally agree with your sentiments. However, from January of the year we got promoted from Div one I have been bewildered by SG - firstly we crawled over the line that year due to Millwall and Swindon shooting themselves in the foot, then we conceded the most bar one in the Champioship last year - bar one team - this could have been resolved in the January transfer window but wasn't which was strange but even more strrange is the fact we still find ourselves staring at leaking 2 goals every game - maybe Pugh and Vayrynen are part of a back 4 protection plan? But what about the back four itself?

{Ed006's Note - Perhaps, as I am not a Leeds fan but take interest in them, I could offer my opinion? I believe that Simon Grayson is a good manager but is being used as a scapegoat by Bates. Bates wants to sell all their best players (Kasper Schmeichel and Max Gradel) and then doesn't give the Manager the funds. I hope I am not too far wrong but that is what I believe.}

I think it's hilarious that because this grandma guy pays for his season ticket, he thinks he can mouth off about anything he wants. I pay for my season ticket just the same, no one can criticise Howson last Saturday because he played even though he was ill. Why? Because we didn't have any centre midfielders available. I'm sure you weren't complaining when he won the game against Doncaster for us? Or Burnley? Let's not forget that Howson was the catalyst against Bristol Rovers which led to us being promoted. The amount of games Howson has won the game for us proves he is up to the mark. Why is Howson the scapegoat for all your criticism when the likes of Snodgrass haven't performed for a long long time? It was Howson & Clayton who earned us the draw against West Ham. Snodgrass was almost non existent in that game. Despite this, I know that Snodgrass has quality so will not call for his head like you do with Howson, completely blindly. You know nothing of football and I wouldn't be surprised if you attend next to no matches. But obviously you wouldn't admit to that would you.

You're getting a little bit personal but so wide of the mark it's untrue! I attend Leeds home and away - though why I feel the need to explain myself I know not - and you insult many Leeds fans who feel the same about Howson. Maybe it's somone else who know's very little about the game or maybe it's just another matter of opinion. Accept that I have my opinion and you have your's without the quips - 40 years as a Leeds fan through thick, thin and even thinner entitles me to my opinion even if it differs from yours! I'm off to my grandma's!
