Toshiya Fujita Has joined Leeds as Head of Football Development, when I saw his name I thought we had a new camera manufacturer sponsor!

The Duke! I didn't know David Dickinson played for Leeds! We wouldn't get much for him would we cause "he's cheap as chips"! MOT

On the days when he doesn't score Wood is no better than Doukara who many fans ridicule. Doukara has changed a lot og games whilst at leeds for the better. I don't think he is good enough if we are promotion contenders but he is a decent player. A packet of crisps and a ribena was one fan'ssuggestion when transfer fees were mentioned re Doukara . I wonder what they will be saying if Wood doesn't start scoring soon. Wood has missed two straight forward one on ones with the keeper which is disappointing but he is in good company. Robbie Keane missed fourteen consecutive one on ones when at Leeds. I was never keen on him either. He played much better for his national team than he ever did for us. Just an aside to put Wood's misses into some sort of context.

Was it a 1 ltr bottle of ribena or 300ml?

I've always had a soft spot for the Duke, he's not the most gifted but when I've watched him he doesn't half put a shift in, and that goal.

Its all a matter of new gaffer new preferences. Nothing wrong with douk. But please sell wood. It will cost us millions if we don't sell now.

Aus, its always a risk, if he has another good season his price will rise, and he should get more service and therefore chances this season.

'Doukara has changed a lot of games whilst at leeds for the better' that is a stretch Hesslian. I certainly remember a performance against Ipswich (I think) but struggle to name many more

If we some newspapers are saying that wood has told Leeds he wants to join Burnley then it's a no brainer but to sell him. its crazy to keep a player who wants to move on, can we be sure the so called easy chances he is missing of late is not down to is head being elsewhere. Take the money and let us move on.

Its easy to say Woody will say Wood will score more goals this season as he will have better service, BUT, it can depend on the type of service provided. Wood is better closer to goal in and around the box. If we keep threading balls through for him to run onto and go one on one with the keeper then I don't think he will score that many as he is not really that kind of player. if we want to get the best out of him we need to get crosses pinged in and make use of his ability in the box a bit more.

You are supposing he will score a lot og goals this season notts. we have other options and need to buy somebody thst suits our play. Not sure wood does.

18 Aug 2017 07:39:20
Who then Ausman ? Didn't Wood's 30 goals last season suit our style of play ?

Based on the above, Aus, you're describing a false 9 which Wood isn't mobile enough to do, coming deep from midfield. Ekuban has the pace for that. Wood is actually more the centre of a front three when we go forward and a lone striker when we don't have the ball. Part of what makes his play frustrating is that he's not exactly a centre-forward. doesn't hold up the ball and force overlaps nearly enough for my liking. He did well as a lone striker last season with little support and scored a lot of goals but when it didn't work it really didn't work. Is he fast enough, creative enough or good enough with the ball at his feet to help build attacks?

If wood does go I believe we should be looking for around 10million minimum plus a player. If he goes to Swansea try getting Bartley in exchange If he goes to Everton try possible Lennon ? If he goes to burnley, well just cash from them or Charlie Taylor 😂😂 With the 10 million I would look to use it on Dwight Gayle if he's available. He would score in the championship + I can't see Newcastle using him much this year.

One of the other sites is suggesting that we should go for Gayle. He can put em in, as we well know, but I cannot see them flogging him, particularly not for £10m as is being quoted on the other site. If he is only worth £10m, Wood shouldn't be valued into double figures. If we bought him, i would get all confused, as his haircut is too similar to Philips. I would struggle to work out who was doing what. Story of my life really.

General footballing txt now. Just looked on transfer centre and there's 3 players on nattily to join different clubs, apparently wood might be joining them. Now I think it's stinks and hate when players do it. Can a club sue a woman layer for breaking their contract in that way?

Ah, Canada I see your point. trying to txt quick and bloody autocorrect! If a player strikes to push through a move, they are in breach of contract, therefore why don't clubs sue them?

ah domestic bliss! I'm sure if a club could sue they would do but even if they could what difference would it make? if you have an unhappy player they down tools, sit on the bench and collect their money or make life difficult for you therefore lowering their value meaning the club lose out. unfortunately they are assets and are no good if they are not kept happy so the clubs are in a difficult situation unless they can write the value of that player off. The Bosman ruling has ruined everything imo and there needs to be big changes in the way transfers happen if we are to see this trend stopping.

I just think Alf that if say Chelsea who don't need the money sued costa for breach of contract for x amount of £ then that would set a precedent, others would think ah yes this little stunt isn't going to cost me two weeks wages, which I bet they don't even notice, this could cost me a hell of a lot more! every club has had to and will have to deal with it again. Yes they get unhappy, but they're only unhappy because they get away with it! if they didn't they'd soon pipe down and honour the contract There's not another profession in the world where this happens and it needs to stop!

Think Shaughnessy could make CB berth his own with Penns and Coop as back up . We might have enough there, maybe take a view in Jan window. Take as much as we can for Wood and bring in 2 replacements and Kent from pool and a tough tackling grafter to start in those hard away games .
