Another good result for us tonight, if we can get something on Sunday at Villa it would be brilliant.

Villa seem to be building the game up with hype! Important we don’t get too obsessed with the one game with all the Christmas fixtures coming up afterwards. We’ve done the hard work in getting 15 points from the last 5 games. If we lose against Villa and then win the next two home games that will still be a more than satisfactory December!

I’m warming to the idea that might be possible LUFC.
At first I though a likely defeat and possibly a big one. But their goals against tally and no Grealish is making me rethink.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2018 12:15:10
Posted a couple of days ago, the Villa game was not a big issue points wise as long as we win next two games we will still be in top two. Fancy us for at least a draw but if we stop them scoring we will win. Big plus is over next three fixtures a lot of chasing pack are playing one another. Would still like to be at least 5 points clear at the end of January.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 21:30:59
It seems to be that Leeds buy players at the going rate then loan or sell them at a loss all because the player is unsettled, what are we to be cut price players club or has Radz got money to give away, perhaps come January he will give some way in the market.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Dec 2018 21:51:09
6 million is double what we paid for him, but even that is not the point . Trust Bielsa and the club to make the best decision in the circumstances . If we had forced him to stay, he wouldn’t have been worth playing. It might be wrong, we might feel he’s let us down but I suspect we thought getting rid was best for the team. We don’t want to let this derail us . If anyone is the guilty party here it’s Saiz, no one else!

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 22:00:11
Whiteman Since when has 6 been less than 3? Last high profile player we sold was for 15 (million) and we bought him for 3 (million) .

Here is a bean. Here is another bean. If you add them together, you get? A very small casserole?

Are you a highly critical Leeds fan who just so happens to be utterly awful at mathematics or is it all just simply woven into your super personality?

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 22:14:25
Saiz cost just under £3m, so we doubled our money.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 22:19:36
Who precisely are you talking about?

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 22:47:40
we may of made money but still a bad deal, he is thought of as one the best in the league (to quote sky sports pundit) and scouted by Spurs as a potential eriksen replacement (ok he didn't make the grade but still) and was on valencia's radar. Also a bad move for him as think he could of done better.

I worry this all ties in with Rads other firm being skint? Was saiz really unhappy? why did we sell veria? where is the money going into buying players? all puts me slightly on edge

On another note, George who gives you the right to be so disrepectful and rude to people. White Woman. it ain't clever or funny and just rude.

you need to learn some respect as comments like that are really not welcome here and on this site. this is a great site full of great people. We do not alll agree but we all have a level or wit and/ or respect so why don't you follow suit.

again all mouth and no trousers as love for you to meet white woman as think he might have something to say about it as well.

again only thing worse than a bully is a bully who can't back it up. Not sure what they call it in Yorkshire but in my neck of the woods, coward comes to mind.

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 23:57:13
None of us know what really happened. He’s gone and what is important is that it doesn’t effect the team for the rest of the season. He was a very emotional and temperamental player. Perhaps that was why some of the bigger clubs have stayed clear of him. He’s back in Spain where he wants to be and at a better club than he was with in Spain before. He has a real opportunity and I hope he takes it. Let’s get on with supporting the players who wear the shirt and a manager who has worked wonders.

There does seem to be a lot of people on here who use every opportunity to have a go at the club and the board.

I think Bielsas view is clear, if you don’t want to play for the club, go and go quickly so the rest of us who want success can concentrate on achieving it. Any money won or lost on Saiz, pales into insignificance compared with the treasures of the premiership. Don’t let it distract us. Thanks Samu, goodbye, good luck and onward!

Berm You really are a chip short of a happy meal. He expressed his opinion. I expressed mine. His opinion in my opinion disrespectful of Radz and the laws of math. As for your assertion, I'm a coward never heard anything so wrong. What do you expect from me? To post my real name, address, selfie and National Insurance number so everyone can pay me a visit so I can prove my mettle? Some of us aren't plagiarizing playwrights looking to boost ratings. This is a banter site like you said. Suggest you research what banter means. I trust the Eds to decide what's fair and what's not.

18 Dec 2018 00:22:47
Spanish very good point about Saiz attitude and that certainly could of come into play.

I do think you misunderstand 'having a go' and having concerns which may well be ligititmate.

losing a player of saiz quality is understanbly going to distract us but I am sure our distraction will not affect results, as will our positivey or negitiviy lucky for leeds this doesn't affect results in any way. Some leeds fans are understanbly weary and a little unsure of rads.

for me rads has done nothing to ease me and make me think he is great (apart from getting Orta who i always liked and of course MB) he has also done little to be slated for but reports due suggest he is skint and he has let some good players go on the cheap so both positivity and negitivity are understable at this point maybe not negitiviy but certainly caution.

BW

"On the cheap"

£7m for Viera, we paid nowt for him

£6m for Saiz, we paid £3m for him

Neither of those 2 would be in Biesla's starting 11 so I can't see your point

Saiz is wonderful to watch (if you weren't brought up on Kamara, Batty, Jones type midfielders) but for £4.5m I think Forshaw is offering us so much more than Saiz has done.

Now now guys, this is the season of goodwill and all that! We are all Leeds ain't we? . This is a banter site as George says, let's not take or get too personal. This is our platform to have our way of rant and get things off or chest without having to kick the dog. We don't have to agree and none of us are always right, thing I love about this site is reading other Leeds fans views and sometimes willing to change how i see things. Keep the banter coming boys, jokes, pisstakes but let's keep it civil. MOT, Happy Christmas!

18 Dec 2018 07:50:53
Axe I can see point however

Mb said keep veria for another year and we will get 20 million for him (words to that effect) MB also said he advised to keep veria. If you look at going rate of players in Veiras world cup winning sqaud they would be goig for lot more than 7 mill so i think it is fair to say it was cheap deal (as many reprots said)

with saiz 6 mnths ago 10 mill wasnt enough yet now 6 is? i get that situation changed and spanish is probably spot on with mention of saiz attitude but all things considered I think it is fair to say 6 million is cheap deal and we could and should of got more. not the end of the world but at same time is far from ideal

George as for you banter is meant to be funny and/ or witty. your just personal and rude. You attitute and posts to many in here lack respect. As for coward I don't expect national insurance but a real name would be nice, otherwise it could be seen as hiding behind a fake name

Calm down guys. I have sent emails in the past which have upset / p1ssed off people and I have been shocked and bothered when I became aware, as that was not my intention. My jocular can be taken as offensive at times, as in postings and emails, due to their brevity, the time can be unclear, not so in a play Berm as you will know. In brief, my guess is that George wishes Whiteman, who himself can come across as hotheaded, no ill will. The Blackadder reference suggests to that it was merely sarcastic humour. Anyhow, calm down chaps and if you ever do meet up, I hope I am there to buy you both a pint, whilst we talk drunken merry nonsense about how Leeds are going to do PSG in the finals. Hoo haa! 18 Dec 2018 11:00:21
Saiz doesn’t play for Leeds unless the sun is on his back
He was left out as he wasn’t producing
He wasn’t forcing himself back in anytime soon
Move suits all parties and we make a profit on the lad
MB doesn’t want anyone around that isn’t 100% committed
That’d just block the progress of the likes of Clarke and the U23s itching for a chance

Radz uk business arm has no impact on LUFC as they are two separate businesses

Now, if we could all just MOT that’d be great

Well said Mezzer! It’s Christmas, we’re top of the table, we’ve got the best manager and most professional coaching team that we have had for a long time.

I also believe we’ve got a board that want premiership football for the club and are doing the right things do get us there. Lead, follow or get out of the way!

It could be worse we could all be Millwall Fans! I was going to add Leyton Orient Fans but as Bermondsey will know, they are top of the National League. In fact we should support them as well as they are keeping Salford of the top!

Although it sounds a bit like an AA meeting, my name is Sean Williamson, not the Actor who is Shaun. Born, christened, married and buried my grandparents just off the Leeds Road, Shawcross. I can usually be found in the Peacock before a game and quite happy to drink Bermondseys beer.

Its a good job we did not build a team around Saiz because he is gone, good luck to the lad. Yes he was worth more when Valencia came in for him and in the circumstances probably should have sold him for 9mill. If we had sure a lot of people would have been up in arms. Radz can't win either way. Saiz initiated the move for his own best interest and his family, total respect for that. Bw calm yourself down, its football banter not MMA. Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 21:29:53
I’m gutted as well but I don’t think he’s worth 15million. Too unpredictable, too temperamental, we bought him off a second division side. And after starting with Real Madrid, he was there for a reason. I think we are letting him go because it became the right thing to do. The key will be how much we miss him. The twitter from Pontus was telling. It would have been easy to tweet something a tad more sympathetic! I think the frustration should be directed towards Saiz and not the board or Bielsa.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 21:40:42

start of this year a number of times the pundits on sky sports said he was best in the league at reciving the ball. This season, Saiz was found out

As Corporal Jones of Dad's Army fame used to say, "He doesn't like it up 'em"

every opposing team robustly challenged him as soon as he got the ball. had 2 guys on him early doors. looked like they had him marked up all game

he wasn't able to play, and more importantly wasn't able to find a way to play. if you look at Henandez, he still finds a way yo be involved.

Great posts axe and other Woody. Hernandez is my fave player, true professional, conducts himself very well and has an exquisite touch. Brilliant for Jack Clarke to have him close by to watch and learn from. The Sheffield United goal this season is also one of my fave goals, seeing the two of them together. Anyone like Bermondsey looking for a 2nd and third team to support, keep an eye on Castellon, a bit more exotic than Leyton Orient! Hernandez has an interest in the club, trains with them in Spain and his post Leeds plan is to go back and help them, his home town club. Classy player, classy individual!

We didn’t want to sell him in the summer and hoped he would settle down and contribute which he did at first. As the season went on it possibly became apparent that it wasn’t going to work and that we would be better off without him around when the getafe opportunity arose. If his form had continued as it started it would have been a superb decision. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t! Bielsa was a huge gamble bearing in mind his record, so far so good!

Disappointing under 23s today. Bamford, Harrison and Brown starting. Bamford looked the best of the three and had two good chances. Harrison did little and neither did brown until he went off injured.

Roberts came on for Brown and at least brought some energy. In the second half we started to use Clarke Oduor more and he looked good. Harrison and Bamford were replaced by Kun, who never really got into the game and Bruce hosannah, who did and provided more threat on the other wing.

Considering their league position, Barnsley did well, stopped us playing and took their two clear opportunities.

Very cold and disappointing afternoon. Highlight for me was having a great conversation with the mother of Pascal Struik, delightful lady who knows her football!

Nothing wrong with returning players featuring with the under 23s. Good for their match fitness and a good principle that they have to work hard to get back in the team. Precautionary withdrawal from the game. It’s confirmed to not be a big issue, just a tight hammy. If he’s going to get near the first team squad anytime soon, he needs competitive minutes. How else can he get those, other than with the 23’s?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Dec 2018 18:29:02
They are footballers. Footballers play football. That's what they do. The fitter they are the better they play and, in fact, the less likely to sustain an injury. The flip side to this is that the more minutes they spend on the paddock the more opportunities there are for something to go wrong. BUT you can't keep them in cotton wool. Any sport, particularly a contact sport, carries the risk of injury. The only way to avoid it is to stay home in bed. Again, the fitter they are the less likely to sustain an injury. Some risks are calculated and have to be taken.

This year could be a good one, how a gritty Yorkshire midfielder was able to galvanize a Leeds team to glory despite savage attacks from the South and predictions of doom, gloom and heavy play off defeats!

Not all the south Spanish mate.
Don’t think I’ve criticised kp.
Most of the others. But not him.

Aus you are extreme South in every way! Bamford is to you what KP is to Bermondsey and Radz is to Wex!

If we’ve got a famous London playwright in our fan base, we should be encouraging him to write about his fave team

Let’s come up with some Leeds and Yorkshire stories for Bermondsey to use in his next play. Centenary year and all that, what do you reckon Bermondsey, got to be worth a flutter!

The Charlton brothers would make a great play. One playing for Man Utd and one playing for Leeds. How diverse can you get. Both playing for England.

Good one BIGE, bring a northern edge to his writing.

What about a play set around the time of Cloughie becoming our manager. Could call it 'That darned United' or something like that. Hmm, I think I might have to copyright that idea! 😉.

Just because you love Leeds doesn't mean you can't enjoy football games featuring other teams. I have often been seen at Nethermoor (Guiseley) , Anfield (Liverpool) and even Valley Parade (Bradford) to name but a few.

alf, you should get to South Elmsall and take in a Frickley Athletic game, they're poor this season but I'm hopeful they'll pick up soon :)

yeah I must admit I have grown very attached to Orient and rehearsing at the club was great.

I am in talks with a few big people about touring the country with the greater game, leeds and blackpool are must on the touring list. Would love to put a play out in leeds

There was a play about the leeds service crew which aprrently was execlent. i'm trying to convince the producer to put it out again in the centenary year. Not sure I could write anything based outside of London due to the way I write and nature of my plays.

Would love to write a play about KP though, tales of a young gifted player hounded by a slow overwigt cockeny. might call it the tortise and the slightly slower tortoirse!

Alf, did anyone say that you couldn’t enjoy other teams games whilst being a Leeds supporter. Although whilst in London I preferred to take the train or drive and watch Leeds than go to West Ham or Dagenham and Redbridge games!

I'm not convinced that a LUFC fan winning a reality show will have all that much impact on our season George.

You will be reading tea leaves next.

It's just another omen, we've won at the blunts (last time we did that, we won the league) we've had a 5 game winning streak (last time we did that, we got promoted) let the superstitions run wild! ! ! :)

If we give the ball away as much against villa as we did against Bolton. We will be in trouble. The good thing about Bolton was they were kind enough to give it back.
I don't rate Bamford. I hope he bags 20 and proves me foolish. But what I won't do is compare him with Chapman. That's just silly after one goal. And prob still silly if he scores 20. Chapman was clinical and a real handful to any defender.

Not sure you can compare Chapman and Bamford Aus. Diiferent types of players and game different and I doubt if Chapman would have made that run and finish. Mind Ya, probably would have knocked in a few headers instead. He was a Mongrel of a centre forward who as use say harassed the hell out of defenders.

At least they are missing Grealish Ausman . Think he is one of the most confident players on the ball in the championship.

Villa are going to be a good test. Definitely a side that are capable of doing a West Brom on us. We’ve had some important but narrow wins since then. Interesting to see what Bielsa comes up with for this one!

I don't think mad was comparing Chapman and Bamford in the previous post. He was talking about the impact that Chapman had joining us mid season and the effect being that we got promotion. If Bam Bam can have a similar impact I will be pleased as punch.
