Can we please stop living in cloud cuckoo land. We are no longer a so called big club. We are dare I say a mid table championship team not going anywhere fast. The premire league is full of so called smaller clubs (wigan, swansea, and qpr just to name three) but for some reason we LEEDS think we are one of the top 5 clubs in the country even to this day...!!!! Get real everyone and look at average crowds its an embarassment. We not even in the top 3 championship clubs for attendances. So fair play to these so called smaller clubs living the dream in the premier league and maybe soon we can join them and get our crowds back up to 40,000 from the pathetic 20, 765 now!! MOT But for now please come and support us because i'm get very worried about all the negavtivity at ER and pretty sure players feel the same.

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Knowbody wants to pay to watch a set of over aged hasbeens, play totally sad football. Come Saturday, we will be saying the same thing, HOOOOOFFFF BALL AGAIN!!!

Agree10 Disagree2

Ridsdale caused the demise.........bates made it worse and made himself rich.......in terms of big club or not, there isn't another club with our potential so we'll be back, just a question of when

Agree9 Disagree3

Yeah I agree your positivity is mind blowing!

Agree9 Disagree0

To the original poster all I can say is OK Ken

Agree4 Disagree4

So Leeds arent a big club ? No ones hanging on to some romantic dream that we are currently the biggest or best or have big support ! But how do you define big ? is it on contribution to football history are you defined by where you are in the league now or is it by what your history is. How many of the current prem have been in Europe in the last 20 Yrs how many have or even or would ever win the highest honours in the game. We need all our supporters behind the team and club more than ever. Leeds remains a top flight club and we will get back there again. Keep the faith mot

Agree12 Disagree0

Rather than slate you like the rest of them, I'm going to agree with you. Too many fans are desperately clinging to this notion that we are a big club and clubs like West Ham, Wigan, QPR etc would die to be like us. They wouldn't. They are better and now bigger than us. Before everybody says the size of a club is only dependant on its history, let me stop you. Nobody but us cares about our history .... nobody. And if you look further back than the 70s you'll see that it's still only a slightly above average history anyway. Sorry, but it needed to be said.

Agree4 Disagree4

So Leeds fans don't care about our History I assume then you don't actually go to many games or weren't their for these games or you would care. Seems lots of dis illusioned people on here you included are self obsessed with what other fans think about us. I don't give a rubbish what they think and neither should you. QPR Wigan keep being mentioned then Stoke Reading Southampton West Brom Norwich all good clubs with history but with diminshing returns and struggling to survive in the prem. We have spent several years now in the lower divisions and of course that's going to affect the floating fan base but its about passion its about history and about our new owners. Why would an investment bank buy Leeds they could have bought so of the other clubs I am sure for similar amounts I am sure. is it becuase we are a sleeping Giant yes of course it is. Let the management do what they are no doubt trying and because we haven't spent 20 mill in the closed season doesn't mean we are written off. If it needs to take one season or 10more to get back to the top so what !! Where all Leeds arent we ? MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

Leeds were and still are a massive club, nothing to do with where we are now . go anywhere in the world and people know who Leeds are even to this day, walk in a sports shop in asia and buy a leeds shirt, ask for wigan, west ham, norwich or swansea and you'd just get a funny look. history and fan base contribute to us still being in the top 10 uk clubs, stats don't lie, and we will be back where we belong very soon, to hell with these negative persons

Agree4 Disagree3

18 Jan 2013 10:31:36
size of the club also goes by the amount of fans across the world so depends how you look at it . our fan base is way bigger than a lot of prem teams . if we get promoted we will automatically be bigger than half of the teams in that league.
also when we go up we can sustain spending more than a lot of the teams so should be able to stay up .

Agree4 Disagree1

Leeds United are still one of the greatest clubs in the Country. They are the only club to fill the away section at our place and definately have one of the most loyal fan bases there is. They are bound to come good, maybe next season but with 2 or 3 good signings could easily make the play offs (playing us, I suspect)this season
Redbird

Agree1 Disagree0

Original poster spot on! Our crowds have gone down tremondously. So called smaller clubs getting far bigger attendances. Derby, Forest, Leicester, Cardiff and even Brighton are beating our crowds. Last year even the mighty West Hams crowds dwarfed ours and they not one of the bigger london teams. History is great and I am proud of our history but that's what it is.. History. Think about it there are lots of clubs with a great history going back longer than ours. Notts County, Blackpool, Bolton and Burnley all can say that they were once mighty clubs and were winning trophies regular. So lets think about NOW and stop bitching and all get off our arses and head to ER tomorrow and support our current bunch of LEGENDS! MOT

My breath was taken when he threw in chelseas equaliser.

Agree5 Disagree10

Look at the price of chelseas team and the class they have to say a second choice championship keeper could make those saves is amazing if you were shocked they managed to get past him your a fool you should be looking at how he saved a frank lampard free kick and denied them so many times

Agree12 Disagree1

To the 2nd response - nobody was saying Ashdown was supposed to be immortal against Chelsea!? The 1st responder is only referring to chelseas equaliser which I have to agree was a ridiculously tame shot for matas standards. What's price tags got to do with if a keeper should save a shot!? If a Fleetwood player had that shot should Ashdown of saved it then!? Your comment makes no sense in terms of a valid response mate!

Ashdown was great against chelsea - you've completely misread the comment you twonk!

Scot MOT!

Agree0 Disagree1

Nobody cares about our history? when we played Chelsea a fan said that this was the first game they can remember that they had to allocate their away tickets on loyalty points.. Is that cause we are a tinpot club? don't think so.
Fergie still hates us. A lot of people still hate us which in my eyes makes us big as everyone has still heard of Leeds United all around the world just look at that person west ham fan that's always on NewsNow slating us, its because we matter..

Becciho in Wigan tomorrow 100% gfh to pocket money and keep selling going to gain profit as that's all it is.The 52 million is rubbish it's 8 million and these guys are cashing up the 52 million is based on if they fluke us back into the prem.They think warnock is a messia and he is taking us back there under educated football people.Incase you don't believe me it came from a drunk senior official last night in what was the mint hotel.We are screwed there worse than bates. {Ed013's Note - Why you making this up?}

Believable3 Unbelievable18

Exactly Ed, 100% bullsh*t. Some of these kids have to much time on their hands

Agree6 Disagree1

All this constant nonsense is getting past boring now it is getting annoying, you do not have a clue how much GFH paid to buy Leeds United and you have no idea how much they intend to invest in the playing squad.

Agree6 Disagree1

If we sell becchio for say £4 million do you think this would be gfh's profits - everything people say about bates is rubbish - the man made exactly no money off the sale of players for his own pockets - the sale of players was simply to keep his investment neutral - look at the leeds's profit sheets for the last few year - we made four million - lost four million another year etc etc. football unless its at the top end makes no money - any body who thinks bates just sold the best players and pocketed it for his self are just delusional - how much net did he make after wages and expenses - a few million - what's that for a multi millionaire - really?

Agree5 Disagree9

Unless you take into consideration the investment into the stadium (which he is rumoured to own). Money from LUFC to pay for work on improving his stadium could be seen as money to Bates.

Also the debts Leeds had (resulting in the required sale of players) was made of a mixture of things including legal expenses, development (as above), loss making digital radio station... Maybe not money in his pocket but certainly paying off misguided non football ventures.

Agree1 Disagree1

I'm probably not the only one but I tend to talk utter rubish when drunk and even I wouldn't believe me. So basically believing a drunk on what he says probably isn't a good idea mate

Agree0 Disagree0

"go anywhere in the world and people know who leeds are"
give me a break..............I'm Leeds and proud of it but believe me nobody knows who we are anymore, I live in asia and I havn't even seen a Leeds shirt for sale since O'leary's days. When people ask who my team are I just get blank looks when I say leeds, some of the more enlightened ones might say " oh them, didn't they used to be in the premier division once" don't kid yourselves, we are a struggling championship team that maybe are on the verge of getting back with the big boys, but we're not one of them.......yet

Hypothetically, how hard would it be to own a Dubai based company, fronted by two well spoken gentleman, from you family home in Monaco?

Then sell your shares, using your fronted company already owned by yourself?

Remain at the club as President having less abuse directed at oneself, however having the two well spoken gentleman whom front your company recieve the abuse???

Agree6 Disagree1

Are you trying to suggest Bates owns GFH? That's a bit of a mad suggestion. It would be quite difficult. He would have go to back in time, using back to the future rules so we could return to thr present, not the one way terminator portal rules. He would then have to start GFH, come back to the present to conclude the deal and hope all involvd stayed quiet. Considering lawyers who are part of the deal have made themselves known I'd say you have an imagination akin to a Grisham novel.

Crmd

Agree6 Disagree0

Probably not too far from the truth. The only change I would make is that it is not his fronted Company. GFH identify and deliver investment opportunities for interested parties. Maybe Papa was interested!

People are saying buy naike wells / dj Campbell both not bad players fair enough but why when we've got young poleon he's better than the pair of hem just wish Wornock could see it . Mot .

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Please provide your evidence regarding Poleon being better than either of Wells or Campbell.

Agree5 Disagree0

Well he proved himself (only for a short period) in League 1 with Bury and he has also scored in the championship. Nakhi Wells failed at Carlisle in League 1 then went on to League 2 so is totally unproven at any high level.Think it's safe to say that Poleon wins that one.

You are right with DJ Campbell however and he would be a great addition and provide comeptition for places.

Agree1 Disagree1

Poleon hardly set League One on fire with Bury - and he's scored ONCE in the Championship.

Is anyone else bored of Johnny Russells Agent on this website, piping on about him coming to Leeds? Every couple of days he posts......even worse people are agreeing with this joker.

On a gloomier side, Dom Poleon 2 an half years?? Must be an error, Is this young lad ever going to be of premiership material? that's who we need to be signing on for two and half years potential youth who will be of premiership quality.

ED013, can you give your mucker Haigh a call, tell him to cancel the range.

WB MOT {Ed013's Note - Uncle Ken has set a conspiracy into Leeds and wants all players contracts to end in 2 and a half years time so Leeds don't have a team! The other conspiracy is that Mr Warnock will get a 2 an a half year contract soon!}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Have to agree regarding Poleon. There has been much talk recently among (desperate) Leeds fans of "throwing the kids in". I've seen him play for the development team a few times and the thing that sticks out about him for me is his constant moaning. That's not to say he won't develop into a Premiership player - but I'm not sure about his attitude.

things don't look good for there to be signings next week.. I honestly believe that NW will resort to buying DJ campbell for a pittance. No disrespect to the lad he clearly scores goals in the championship but he's not exactly the signing us fans want. a Part of me just thinks nothing will happen until the summer. Id like to see Paolo Di Canio in charge in the summer. No nonsense managing. In terms of signings i can't believe we haven't made a moved for Boyd. it's a no brainer. Why would someone who doesnt give a Sh1t about Leeds pay 52 million for them ! Bates and Harvey are powerless non exec, mouthpieces not shareholders. If you think that a Lucky Barrowboy from London and Sean Harvey could outwit a Gulf/Dubai based bank you need your head testing Son ! These are smart wealthy businessmen with an eye for investment opportunity. How do you propose they managed to write a cheque for that amount of money ? Without a business plan ? 'Yes i am sure their board just said here you can have 50 million quid cash lets hope we can buy some cheap players and get into the prem ! Perhaps any new contracts have to be in line with the new fairplay rules in terms of not spending more than your club generates and we will be looking to build for the future. If Warnock leaves after the end of season what players do you suppose would sign for a manager now who will be gone in 6 months (aside from Paddy Kenny ?) i am sure we don't want to be overpaying some worthless overrated marquee signing for 6 - 12 months just so we feel good about ourselves. FFS wind your neck in all and wait what rolls back - Grimesey LUFC

Agree12 Disagree5

I doubt ill renew if there's no investment and to the 1st reply i bet you don't even go to Elland RD

Agree8 Disagree2

Oh its the FACT man again, the one who can't distinguih between fact and opinion, look it up bud.

Agree2 Disagree1

If GFH sell Becchio they're no better than Bates. People can talk all they want about the future and being patient etc etc. I think we've all been quite patient enough.

I went to my first game at Elland Road at the age of 7 and followed the ever since, through school, university, one failed marriage and one very happy current one. I've seen two promotions, three relegations and three play-off final defeats. I've now had a Season Ticket for the same seat for the last 15 years.

Agree4 Disagree0

(Continuing the above post, sorry, laptop error!)

But if I renew for next season it won't be because I think we've a chance of a success. It will be because of the banter and friendship with the people who sit near me.

I honestly fear for the club at the moment. Things don't seem right behind the scenes - despite all the delerium about the takeover. Which club in their sane minds would be looking to offload a striker who's scored almost 20 goals already this season?

I think, with regret and disappointment, Championship football is the best we can expect for some time to come.

Agree4 Disagree0

At least you have people who sit near you! When I first got my season ticket, about 18 yrs ago, there wasn't an empty seat in the block, never mind the row. Nowadays me and my son have the row to ourselves and no-one in front of us. Actually, I think I prefer it now than then. Long live mediocrety and the Championship- at least I can stretch out!

Gfh are as bad if not worse than bates. Supposed to be investing in Jan. Transfer window. So far. Nothing ! No word from them either. Don't put all the blame on Colin. At least he is trying for new signings. But gfh won't put the money up. Really think they just after a quick buck. But so short sighted.lets face it only 5 points of play offs. Invest now and think of the £90 million reward if we went up. Who the hell are these so called business. Wizards ? Even I can work out that, £10 million invested now . Would bring 80 million profit if we go up
And even if we didn't . Would be in pole
for next season. Totally disallusioned with them. No signings. And no statements.

Believable11 Unbelievable17

You're very naive about the ways of business aren't you? We're not playing fantasy football here - don't you think the price of every player goes up when it's LUFC enquiring with their new Middle East backing, not to mention every salary package quoted by the players' agents. Get real, mate - it's not like playing Football Manager!

Agree15 Disagree8

Do you ever read or listen to what's coming out of ER, NWs trying his best to get players in, he HAS the backing of GFH, there's also 2 weeks left in the window, we can't buy players who don't want to come or from clubs who won't sell, I really wish it was as black and white as you paint it.

Agree17 Disagree4

Do you know what efforts are being made to get new players in? No. Do you know what kind of stupid prices are being asked for them? No. Do you know what stupid pay they're asking for? No again. It's like the second poster said - very naive indeed. We all want success but not at any price - some of us can remember the cost paid when we last threw silly money about.

Becchio [as I assume that is who you are talking about] is 29 years old and frankly if someone wants to give us £3.2m we should bite their hand off. If we are truly with owners now looking to the medium term at least it is the sort of decision we should be applauding. The real acid test is what do they do with the £3.2m. In recent years we have refurbished the Monaco knocking shop or the flamming pie store in the east stand. If we now bring in 3x 23 year olds with potential from the Becchio windfall we can start to hope. TeeCee

If you're on about Becchio there's better than him out there

Agree9 Disagree1

There is better than becchio put there I agree . Ross mcormack for one . with a run in the side he'd score as many as becchio and is more skillful and mobile around the pitch . come on warnock get him in whether becchio goes or not ! Karl mot

I have been following the Rumours and Banter pages for the last 12 months from New Zealand.I've always thought that Strongbow dulled the brain but it is obvious whatever the brew supported by UK Leeds fans totally nukes all brain cells. One week Warnock and his troops are heroes the next sack them. Just look at the great teams over the last 50 years - it took time to build them. Sadly the best example is across the Pennines. So accept that to obtain long tem success you must have short tem hiccups. And for FS lay off the local brew

Good point, but for one element. We are not building a team for the future, there is no strong nucleus of youth who we are building a club around. The policy for the past 8 years has been to sign ageing has beens and free never gonna be's. Most "UK" based Leeds fans who have suffer the below average performances in the lower leagues know that no future, especially under Bates was possible. We will see if GFH are any different.

Yes your correct were building a team for the future signing players in there late 20's and 30's.

Build for the future?? brown, tate, diouf, kenny, tonge to name a few, warnocks retiring at the end of the season hows that preparing for the future?? leave off the legal highs down under i think!

10 years is hardly a small hiccup

To obtain long term success you need a long term plan. Warnock hasn't a plan beyond telling everybody how good he is at the next press conference.

Very left field frank rijkard is now out of work
World experence he started the barca reverloution off before it was taken over by pep and tito
He ended seasons of real madrid winning everything.
He brought through young players and established barca as they are today.
We have a fantastic youth squad just imagine what could be acheived if we got him.
Long term vision playing passing football with home grown players.
Yes he would be expensive but the legacy would be worth it
What a statement of intent that would be. He ciuld groom the next manager ad well be it naylor or redders or whoever promoting from within ala barca

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Never. Not after he broke our hearts by signing kewell

If we need a new manager, i think it should be Paulo Di Canio, has plenty of spirit/fight, plays the right kind of football & has served a good apprenticeship at Swindon...what does anyone else think.

How about di matteo he's out of work he'd do a great job

Louis Saha to South Africa thank god and Simeon Jackson to Wolves which is a shame, if the rags are to be believed.

The team mostly play crap though they show everynow and then they can play well. Fault? Warnock
Players hear and read negative comments about them in the public media. Fault. Warnock.
The team don't seem to know what attics to adopt. Fault? Warnock
We seem to be signing mediocre players. Fault? Warnock
The team us being filled with no skill workhorses. Fault? Warnock
Over half way through window and still no icing because he dosent gave a game plan, he is trying to get players we can't afford, face too much competition for or don't want to be managed by a one dimensional egotist. Far? Warnock
Where from here?
Tick rock tick rock bye bye warnock

Drury out for a while. Makes no difference to team selection then. Pelts for more LB duties. Maybe most Leeds fans should try their hand at being astronauts too. Mind you no-one ever went to the moon anyway.

White did ok when he came on. saved us a certain goal, that i don't think Peltier would have been in position for if he was on. after publicly slating him, maybe Warnock ought to give him a chance now.

Im surprised no ones mentioned this yet, but now that QPR have Loic Remy i think we could be in to get Habibou. QPR would probably stop their interest in him. Assuming the SSN report was truth of course.
